I think the chef forgot to cook them because they came out raw. However, to the credit of the chef they remade them and took them off the bill. The best meal was the blackened swordfish . Delicious! Wonderful experience! The food was absolutely delicious, and my personal favorite was the mussels. They were so fresh and served with a curry sauce that damn near made me shed a tear at the table. The sticky ribs were so tender and my girlfriend and I both really liked our entrees. The portions are large and we felt it was great value for the price. The staff was also really friendly and great. Our waitress (Valerie) had great recommendations and was always there with whatever we needed. Overall, fantastic meal. I wanted to like this place. With the impending storm, a Sunday brunch with lots of drinks while discovering all that Jamestown has to offer, we were excited to check out Beech! After ordering our first round of mimosas, we settled on a brunch burger for my husband and I was ready to go big with the 6 oz steak and eggs. I was going to be a long afternoon watching the storm blow by with lots of drinks!! Drinks came and after a while so did our meal. Burger was a little bland but salt helped. Then my order came. There were two thin slices of steak. I moved around the lettuce, butter, and hollandaise looking for the rest of the steak. None to be found! Two small slices. Hmmm. Maybe 2 ounces if I'm being generous. This was not going to support our plans. When I caught the attention of our server, none-too-friendly, I showed her my plate and asked how many ounces this was supposed to be. She went to go check and returned and said it was 3 ounces. I said it was not going to be enough food for me. I asked for a burger instead and ordered a Bloody (She hadn't asked if we wanted another round even though our glasses were clearly empty). I was doubtful about the 3 ounces (I'm a big eater and would never order 3 ounces of anything!) so my husband went to get another menu. The menu clearly said 6 ounces! She lied to me. Just wow! When she passed by next, I asked her to cancel the burger, I was going to eat my husbands half burger, cancel my drink as well, and we'll take the check. I also mentioned that the menu clearly said 6 ounces. Her response was "that's what they told me." No sorry. No let me fix this. No option for anything. Okay, you don't want my business? Okay, got it. The "manager" or host - not sure what his role is but he did seat us - came over and stood in front of my husband and said "What?" My husband said "What?" Just wow! So obviously the tone here is set by this guy. There was never any offer to make it right. No "can we get you a side of steak" or comp you drinks? Or anything. Apparently they don't need the business and are not interested in making money. Good to know. I strongly recommend avoiding this place. P.S. While visiting Newport and Jamestown, RI myself and friends stumbled upon this gem about two weeks ago. I have to say the food was incredible, the service was superb, and on top of all of that the prices were great compared to what we're used to in Boston! I got the brunch bacon grilled cheese + vegetable side and it was SO good. The espresso martini was also perfect. We had Emily as our server and bartender and she was fantastic! Thank you so much! My wife and I celebrated our 29th Anniversary at BEECH last night and was not disappointed. Started with wild mushroom tart. Entree's were braised short rib and miso halibut both were fantastic. Made reservations the afternoon of and got a 8p spot. Everything we ordered was spectacular! The Brussel spouts were crispy and tender. The beet salad was fresh and light. The lobster bisque was velvety and tasty. The filet mignon cooked perfectly- med rare. The clam pasta was tasty. The scallops were buttery with sweet corn. Ended the night with slices of key lime pie and chocolate mousse. I would return! I wish I remembered our server's name but she is a joy and very pleasant. read more

Everything was excellent. The grilled halibut was perfectly done and well seasoned. The short rib was outstanding. Eggplant appetizer was delicious and generously portioned. Our only gripe is that the calamari appetizer was sort of heavy on things other than calamari (banana peppers, olives, grape tomatoes). Other than that, Beech was reasonably priced and certainly passed the "people test" for a Monday night in December. Solid 4 stars. read more

Went to Beech a few weeks back. Dinner for 4 people. Server was excellent! Food was not. My wife had the overcooked dry striped bass and I had the greasy brown over cooked limp fries with a single piece of fish that was, and I measured 3 inches x 2 inches. Ended up taking home the Chocolate Bread Pudding as it was so dry it seemed like it would be better as a breakfast roll. Hostess Stand: rude to say the least. Not sure about the food as we did not stay as the entire staff at the front desk, including the manager think they are better than their guests. First time I've been to Beech. Great place to sit outside at the large bar and have a drink, but what's lacking is service and value. The bar was 1/2 empty and I had to go out of my way more than once to get one of the two bartenders attention for more service. Regarding the value: $7 for a Narragansett draft is a bit much, especially when the menu says $5 (online menu lists it at $4.50). And there's a type-o on the menu. It says Crab Cakes (plural). Should say Crab Cake (singular). The single crab cake was very good, but at $18 for an appetizer, just a little pricey for me. read more

The renovation at this location is beautiful. Staff were very friendly upon arrival. Appetizers were good, but portions are pretty small for the price. Entrees were good. Some portions were better than others. Steak frites meal was a good portion. Scallops were cooked perfectly & were very good, but side was a very small portion. Our server was pleasant. Two of our drinks were terrible- 1 special with no flavor seemed to be missing the ginger beer & asked for amaretto & were brought a totally wrong drink. The server did correct the error when we asked. The atmosphere is great. We will definitely try it again & hope it is a little better. The photos of the meals online look great! read more

We have tried ,as locals , to support the 'former Trattoria'. First dinner was a miss, with hostess also tending tables. Short handed I guess? We decided to give it another try, and had our own waitress, though she was too busy chatting up the regulars at the bar, we ended up with cold appetizers . The food came quickly and was nicely prepared. As we ate I realized our proximity to the bar was the reason we couldn't hear each other, too noisy! If you haven't had a chance to visit Beech yet , I highly recommend it. The food was fantastic. We started with the egg rolls and sticky ribs. OMG- our favorite was the sticky ribs with the egg rolls coming in at a close second. My husband ordered the duck breast which he loved. I had the blackened swordfish. I loved it but felt like it was the tiniest bit over done ( if I'm being a bit picky ) over all the food, ambiance, service was spot on. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends. My only complaint would be the bar service was very, very, slow and not quite sure why. It Seemed like they needed a lot of help. Anyway- head over to Jamestown if you're looking for a place to eat. There were an unusual amount of specials, which was odd but fine. I wish there was more flavor on most of the food that we ordered. Nothing was terrible, here are a few observations. Great restaurant in sleepy Jamestown. Been there twice now and can't wait to go back. I really like the atmosphere and love the food. They have a little something for everyone from seafood to meat. The staff are very friendly and the service is great. I highly recommend for a date or a group of friends. Average night out here is probably around $50-$75 and we'll worth it. I was excited to make reservations at Beech to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. Neither of us had ever been there, so I wanted to treat her to what I thought would be a great meal in an intimate setting. I communicated with staff 4 days prior to securing reservations on Instagram, specifically to request the best possible seating for this special occasion. I was guaranteed it would be no problem and was told that the location of our seating would be made a priority. After arriving, however, the area we were led to could not have been worse, and was obviously a last minute attempt to add more seating. We were put in a cramped corner, causing the utmost of discomfort, as well as up against a fence (see photos). What was even more frustrating was the fact that we were seated no less than 1 foot next to another guests' table, which as can be imagined, was the last place I imagined we would be sitting. The complete lack of ambiance, however, was only the beginning of the worst dining experience we have ever had. I was not happy and asked the hostess if we could be moved, and all she said was that the only available seating was indoors and that the outdoor seating on the upper deck were reserved, and then she just walked away, and did not even acknowledge when I explained that I was one of those who reserved the outdoor seating. On to the food...the appetizers were good, and no complaints with them, and the drinks were also fine, as well as reasonably priced. Both of our entrees, however, were without exaggeration, inedible. The Atlantic Salmon was charred and the couscous tasted like dirty water. Furthermore, the steak was not only tough, but ice cold, as were the mashed potatoes. The server, with initials, RC (not looking to make his name public, but who, in my opinion, needs training on how to treat customers), was just as unsympathetic as was the hostess. After seeing that our dinners were left almost untouched, he jokingly asked if I wanted to bring the food home to my dog when he knew we were seriously unsatisfied. The" joke" was inappropriate as he knew how upset I was, but he showed no concern, whatsoever. After choosing to skip dessert, the server then brought me the bill. Since I have respect for those who work in the restaurant business, I still added in a 20% tip, when in reality, RC deserved no tip. The "last straw" was when RC took my money, without saying anything; he had no response, not even a smile or a simple thank you! What should have been an experience for which we could look back on with pleasant memories, instead, was one that caused stress, frustration, and anger! I am NOT one to give negative reviews to any business, as I always try to look for something positive, however, in this situation, I was compelled to because of the overall number of negative occurrences throughout the night. My wife and I celebrated 19 years of marriage and decided to eat at BEECH. She asked for a "romantic" table. That didn't happen. My issue was my main. The simply grilled scallops. The basmati rice looked like it just came out of a microwave, the veg was unevenly cooked, the plate decor was three dots of green paste and a sprig of cress or some such. Four scallops were meh. Presentation was terrible. My wife's main (house-made pasta) was good as was the desert (six-layer choc cake). I wish you luck but you need to get better, though maybe you're the only game in town? PS The host with the electronic cooling fan hanging off her neck won't impress anyone either. Barely a "welcome" on arrival or "have a good night" when we left. read more
