Three friends had a wonderful experience at Beckets when we stopped for dinner after a sunset cruise. Sat outdoors on a perfect summer evening and had awesome service from Julia. She timed the service so well and was enthusiastic about this restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed our pasta primavera , a walleye dinner, and a Caprese sandwich with chicken. The potato croquettes were highly recommended and definitely did not disappoint. Great cocktails, as well. Will recommend Beckets to others and return when visiting the area in the future. read more

Nice view of the Fox River, located in the old Park Plaza mall. My employer is nearby and we've been there a couple times for work lunches. The food is -- or should be -- good, but is inconsistent at times. Portions are generous and service was very good considering that each time I've been there was with a very large group. I had a salmon burger on my first visit that was very dry and overdone. On subsequent visits, I've opted for a shaved ribeye sandwich which was very good. Folks rave over their veggie burger, though I've never had it. To be safe, stick to burgers, I've heard others in our party have similar experiences to mine with other menu items. Unfortunately a very poor experience all around. My family had our early holiday dinner here only to leave disappointed. The service was shotty and inexperienced, the food quality deplorable for a Midwest restaurant from rock hard inedible baked potatoes to a bone in ribeye with no bone and thin cut to the majority of our food served cold without attention to any detail when pointed out to the wait staff. A huge disappointment for the money charged. Although after we complained, the manager tried to make it right, he was even flustered and wasted our precious family time. The fundamentals as well as the fine tuning need major attention. A great location with huge potential with great locally sourced ingredients, hopefully they can pull it together. read more

We had a party of 9. We ended up here after several other places were full on a Saturday night. Apparently it was also prom. We had a table and a booth, which was fine for us. We had part of a basketball team there. So 5 kids and 4 parents. We ordered our drinks, all seemed fine. It took her a while to get to us for our order. No big deal. We put in our order. In rolls a table of 6 next to us. We noticed they got bread- it looked good. So we asked for some while we waited for our food. Waitress brought it to us. Out came the other tables food. We waited and got refills. Then our food arrived. My nachos were overly baked. Meat was dry. 10 mins later we realized one of the kids didn't have food infront of them... we asked where is your food- he replied it hasn't came out yet. So we ask she goes and checks- some mix up in the kitchen. So then the table next to us pays bill and leaves. We get his food 15/20 mins later. He asked for a To go box and I asked for a bill... got it finally paid and left. The bill had the forgotten burger that he got after everyone else was done eating. She said she took off one of my 2 drinks for it... no take off his burger- that's what ya messed up, not my $5 drink. Anyways, our service was extra slow. Hmmm I love Beckets for the social scene, bar and apps. Have had pretty boring food twice: my parents who are locals had a terrible experience. When my dad started in on his second bison filet it was bloody raw. When the waitress cleared and asked how it was he told her. Her reaction " oh s sorry about that.". We booked Becket's for a group of 10 for a work happy hour event. Our first impression when we arrived was, "this is Oshkosh"? The interior is modern with lots of local art hanging on the walls, big expensive use of the Fox River, large patio with covered tables, and a beautiful bar. The service was very polite and responsive. Upon arriving they had two servers ready for us, and brought out a mix of appetizers. The grilled shrimp skewers, cheeseboard, and artichoke dip. The food was decent, and somewhat creative. Not at all a "Applebee's style" appetizer selection. The tap beer selection was around 8 to 10 craft beers, with several other varieties available in bottles. Food was just ok. The atmosphere and decor suggest you are about to embark on a different culinary experience. The menu choices feel "big city" with the dollar - no cents listed behind the options. Not many simple options, all very unique and kind of intimidating. I'd had to ask a lot of questions about the menu to get answers like, that's ham, or that's cheese. I know some people like to tackle the hvarti or marscapone something other. But I was over it. I found something I thought sounded good. Grown up grilled cheese. Was disappointed. All bread. Was very dry. We went to the family room and I was a party of 15. Not one of us enjoyed our food. A few said it was ok, but geez, out of 15? Having eaten there a couple previous times, I was so looking forward to their wonderful salmon salad. What a disappointment at $14. More the size of a side salad. Easter Buffet over priced for what was on menu! Prime Tough! Ham was good, Dried Chicken, no salads only 2 macaroni dishes, cut fruit? so so! Eggs, bacon (was good), Mashed potatoes with toppings, no gravy, Asparagus was good. French toast? again so so. Desserts were all packaged items, some still cold from thawing. only had 4 items. So for $25. a head was certainly low key and disappointed! Food was all just room temp if that! So would not recommend for that price, That was a $12.95 buffet at most and average menu too. This review is for a wedding I attended. I was very disappointed in the entire event from the wedding ceremony to the reception. Becket's provided the food and there was no salad, no roll and the portions were small and cold. Even the plates were small. The service was set with chairs that were so close together that people at the end of the rows moved the chairs apart. The building is riddled with water damage and cracked/patched places throughout the structure. It felt like I was attending a wedding in warehouse. The backdrop was composed of white sheets dropped from the ceiling in a weak attempt to improve the ambiance. The floor is built out in a series of tiers which caused some people to trip. The bathroom for the restaurant was right by the kitchen entrance and they had the beer in the hallway. The kitchen door was propped and blocking the women's bathroom. The parking was not terribly far away but somewhat inconvenient as it did not sit very close to the entrance which is hidden around the corner without any signage showing you were at the correct place. read more

First off let me say bye normally I love Becket's. I ordered food last night through EatStreet and it was terrible. I had the seared salmon salad ($15) and it showed a nice size piece of fish with tomatoes & blue cheese on the salad. Came to visit my daughter at UWO and went to lunch at Becket's. Enjoyed sitting outside and watching the boats. They use fresh herbs which they grow at the place to make drinks and other items. I had the crab cakes, green beans and potato garlic croquette. As an appetizer we ordered the artichoke and spinach dip. I had a sangria which was strong and hit the spot. Everything was excellent including the service. Next time I will bring my husband and share this place with him. Hope to be back soon. read more

The place looks great from the pictures and that's about it. We waited 40 mins just for the waitress to make her first visit to our table by then we were ready to order. Waited another hour for another waiter to I guess find our already cold food waiting and brought it to us. We didn't see our waitress until we had to track her down for the check. After that experience our waitress tried to pocket my sunglasses and they denied it to high hell even though our adjacent table watched her pick everything up. read more

One of our steaks was cold and looked like a cheap breakfast steak and egg steak instead of the Ribeye we ordered. My medium-well steak was very well done. Sad experience. I had gone here a couple of years ago and was very pleased by the higher atmosphere and food choices. I invited some friends for a nice dinner but was under impressed this time around. Our reservation was at 6:45 we ended up getting there early and being seated at 6:20. The waitress was at first attentive to getting our drinks but then forgot water for the table until the food was on the table. Slow at refilling drinks. One of the girls had ordered chicken instead of the brat on the mac and cheese and it did not come with chicken. 30 min wait for the chicken after we had gotten our food, which was a 2hr wait initially. We ended up finally leaving around 9. I asked for sour cream with my order of a baked potato. Didnt come with it. So i asked again. She then brought sour cream. I then had to ask again. Finally got the sour cream. Not sure if the waitress was newer but expected more from Beckets. read more

My wife and I ate here for our anniversary this past weekend and fell in love with Becket's! The atmosphere and the view of the river were outstanding. Our server did a great job telling us about the menu and the specials. We decided to go with the prime rib and the Bison filet. Both were outstanding! It's... ok. Only visited for happy hour (drinks and apps), so not sure about full-on dinner experience. Atmosphere was typical gastropub vibe, high ceilings and concrete floors. That makes for a pretty loud dining room, so expect to strain to hear your party talk. Drink prices were ok, food was meh. Cheese curds were not great at all - cold, almost tofu-like texturally. Chicken strips were standard, breading wasn't crunch at all. Nachos were huge, lots of toppings, but the cheese was just melted shredded cheddar - no queso here. I didn't try the coconut shrimp, but it looked good and smelled delicious. Might be back to try more, but that's a big might. read more

My husband and I both love Becket's. We always go there when we want a really nice meal and to treat ourselves a little. It's pricier than surrounding restaurants but you get a great atmosphere and good food. Their Friday fish fry is also affordable and equally priced to most restaurants around and it's one of the better I've had as well. A customer of mine was in town from Houston and as we sat at the hotel bar trying to decide where to go last night, we opted not to make the 30 minute drive to Appleton and instead to pay homage to the local establishments in Oshkosh. I casually mentioned Becket's location on the water and how they participated in my non-profit organization's annual fundraiser last week, so we decided to head on over as a sign of gratitude. I've been to Becket's a few times, but I candidly share that I've had both hits and misses when it came to the food execution. I enjoy the setting, the great view of the Fox River, and can appreciate the overall vast selection on the menu. Worth mentioning is that I give them many props for having contributed valuably to the use of the old Park Plaza mall, now dubbed the City Center, as well as their efforts in bringing forth a dining experience our community has been missing. As appetizers we chose the seared ahi tuna and artichoke & spinach dip, the latter being the best version of this dip that I have ever encountered. While munching on one of the blue and yellow tortilla chips that accompany this lovely appetite-inducer, I noted the mix of sour cream and cream cheese which Heather, our awesome server, so kindly acknowledged made up this best-ever-version. The special jumbo shrimp scampi over a bed of cheese-filled ravioli garnished with grilled asparagus was right up my alley, as for the Houstonian, it was no surprise he went the meat n' potatoes route with a sirloin and baked potato. Now Texans are big on steaks and not shy about communicating the expectations, luckily Heather understood and obviously relayed the info to the chef My customer was pleased, not to mention full, and I was more than satisfied with all the HITS and NO misses. Our decision to eat at Becket's came as a referral from a family member. I was able to secure a reservation and we were quickly seated at a table by the window. The staff was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was relaxing and inviting. The food was a bit of a letdown. I got the prime rib, two others in my party got the sirloin, another two chose to have the coconut shrimp and one selected the mac and cheese. My plate along with one of the sirloins came out to our table lukewarm at best. All of the plates with the exception of the mac and cheese were served with cooked green beans that were cold by the time they reached our table. I love becket's for so many reasons. It is a wonderful riverfront restaurant in Downtown Oshkosh. You can access the restaurant by boat or by car or by bike or whatever. Slips for docking a boat and the outdoor patio is located right on the fabulous Oshkosh Riverwalk. The food is fab--just recently had the cheeseboard on their appetizer menu (highly recommend!) Love their food--and you must, you must have a Potato Croquette while you are there! Great live music. Great drinks. Great beer. The staff and owners are truly dedicated to Oshkosh--and have created a destination in Oshkosh! Check it out! read more

This restaurant did not meet our expectations. First off, we love beer and after reading they had up to 15 taps we were excited to try this place that boasted water view. The beer selection was limited to lawnmower beer or sweet heavy stouts. No IPA's. Patrons were ordering sweet drinks at the bar, so that's you'll get. The food was over seasoned and did not fit the bill for traditional fare. For example, the clam chowder was heavily seasoned with visible chunks of thyme. The wrap which we thought was light and fresh was nothing but spicy and hot. We left and swore to each other we'd never go back again. Done. read more

This was a great experience for me! We went for a snack on a friend's birthday before the festivities got underway, and I just shared some appetizers with my boyfriend. Everything we had was delicious! Even cheese curds and crab cakes were perfect! We also got the shrimp, which had an amazing glaze for dipping and Oysters Rockefeller-which was amazing!! Our drinks were also great and we had fantastic service, I even got to meet the owner who charming and delightful and thanked us for stopping in. Wow! I'm so happy to see an Osh Kosh yelper! (see actual restaurant profile) I am an out of towner. I am used to exotic foods at my beckon call at any time in the bay area. Becket's was a total surprise for me because I thought it was a shoe store! I was taken for lunch here and had the salmon salad. I returned again for dinner that night and had a nice juicy steak with crab legs. Prices are awesome for someone like me. I'm used to paying a lot more for surf and turf. I will grant a 4 star review for innovative decor and a nice bar. I had 2 drinks, one cocktail and one local beer (new glarus-spotted cow). My total bill was $40 even. I am going to ding one star for the flies in the restaurant. A snazzy restaurant should NEVER have flies. It kind of made it hard to enjoy my 4 star dinner while shoo-ing flies off my crab legs. read more

Stopped here on our way North for hunting and we were starving. That being said...usually just about anything tastes great when I am hungry but I thought the food here hit the spot. We arrived a little later and so the service seemed to be more personal and our food seemed to arrive faster that I would imagine. If I had to recommend anything here it would be a few of the seafood dishes. The seared ahi tuna appetizer was pretty good but the star of the show was the sturgeon on special. Great tasting slab of marine animal cooked to perfection. Live music was a little loud and obnoxious but even worse was the drunk loud lady. Came in during the day to catch a college game. It wasn't busy so quick service. The bartender Olivia was very attentive to anything that I needed. Never waited for a refill and the food came out quick. Also was in a cheerful mood even with it being slow for her which is a good quality in a bartender. However I didn't feel a good presence from the owner Chris.Never introduced himself and kept glancing at me as if I wasn't welcome. I heard him ask the bartender about my tab which I had already paid as if I wasn't going to pay it. I have been here in Oshkosh for the last 10 days and have been to many establishments for lunch and supper. We avoided beckets because of some of the reviews here. Tonight we decided to give them a chance based on some of the good reviews. They are close to our hotel and well worth the walk or drive. We were greeted promptly when they were obviously busy with a large after work gathering in the lounge. Our server was polite prompt and very helpful helping us decide what to order. We had the cheese platter which was outstanding for a starter. I had the steak which was excellent. Locally sourced and well worth it. My colleague had the feature burger. Nice wine. Overall a very good place to eat. Friendly. Nice and clean. Very good menu and food. We are here for a few more days and will be going back to try more of the menu. Very satisfied. read more

I was here with a larger group and was shocked by the style of this restaurant that was built within an old shopping center. The outdoor patio looked great and had a marvelous view of the lake and docked boats. We sat in a private room complete with a wall of windows looking out to the rest of the restaurant. That was an issue for me, it was neat, but very hard to tell where the window was and where the door was. I was very careful not to walk into the window. There was lots of good items on the menu that included local Wisconsin cheesy favorites to some higher class type dishes. The food was great, but didn't blow me away. I hate to write a negative review about Beckets because I have loved Beckets for so many years, but our service last night was unbelievably horrid. The bartender (whom shall remain nameless but her name starts with a "J" and she has blond spiky hair) actually said really rude comments to me as I was ordering apps for Jerry; who was on his way to the restaurant. Happy hour ends at six and if he is going to be late, I typically will order him apps and put a glass of wine on our tab as well. The bartender put the order in and said, "You're really taking advantage of happy hour." To which I said, "I can't help it if he's a little late." To which she responded,"It's not our problem that he's late either. We never hand out drink chips for happy hour prices." Hmmmmm....then why do they have the little star drink chips and what is the purpose of happy hour? I have never had a bartender say this to me in ALL of the times I have gone there! There were about six people total there...shouldn't they be happy to have our business? I'm disappointed in myself for not saying more. But would it really matter? No more Beckets for me! I would rather go somewhere that treats customers with basic kindness and respect! So much for customer service! read more

Our service was spotty and somewhat insincere but our server was receptive to requests (but really, why do I need to ask for more water?). With that said, everyone else working there was so nice. Our server just seemed confused and not well versed on the menu. They were out of the sangria and the signature martini tasted like a lemon ricola drop. If you like IPAs, don't waste your time here. They didn't even have one. Tacos: delicious and slightly spicy. The is a $2 taco Tuesday special that I would definitely come back for (even though I don't live here). Oysters: husband loved them! They came with horseradish which was a nice touch. Cheese curds: they are square (what?!), white cheddar nuggets. Totally delish, totally worth it. Mojo Skewers: the rice was so, so bland. You could tell they were cooked in too much water. The shrimp itself was okay but I would not recommend this beer. Scene: bathrooms had paper towels all over the floor and the hallway leading to the bathrooms was dirty with paper pieces and such. Really a turnoff for such a good looking restaurant. read more
