Had a great lunch this past summer at Becketts. Had a great rotating mix of tap beers which were a great mix of both local craft beers and import beers. The food was solid, high quality burger meat with good fries as well. Service was good as well. If you're looking for a quick place to grab a nice lunch, would recommend. read more

I was very impressed with their mordern-jazzy decor. Their menu/placemats are beautifully designed and well put together. Maybe because I visited during EAA, the waitresses were a bit jittery or just a bit overwhelmed...but mine seemed to just rant the daily specials...and everything else that came out of her mouth...so just kept it simple and did not ask many questions. I ordered a Blackened Seabass with vegetables...the portion was generous, and my bass tasted fresh. Customer service means everything to me when dining...I was not a fan of the waitstaff here, my Spotted Cow was warm by the time she was able to get it to me, and she simply asked me if I wanted the check, without asking me if I wanted dessert or coffee...BIG "no-no" for me...anyway....Becket's is alright with me, I will return for the view, decor, and ambiance...not so much for the service. read more

I've only been here once for some appetizers and drinks. The calamari was pretty decent but the bartenders were very uninvolved with my group (4 of us). They weren't as attentive as they could be and were not really interacting with anyone at the bar. read more

We hadn't been here for a while since we've had some bad experiences, but gave it another try since we like eating on the river. We started with calamari which was ok with the orange marmalade. I ordered the Salmon burger with croquet and my wife ordered the Mahi burger with fries. The salmon was plain and burger was mushy and fell apart. Wife liked the Mahi except finding multiple pin bones in her burger. Beckets fails to keep their food on the same level as their decor. Service was good, but the food falls short again. Becket's was actually the first restaurant I tried in Oshkosh, and we've returned a few times since then. Having only previously eaten in Wisconsin with family who live in the middle of nowhere, the idea of a classy interior and non-supper club vibe was surprising. The staff are always friendly and attentive, even during peak times where the place is filled. The first time I visited, I tried the NY strip and it wasn't anything special. Their sides are all average and what you expect, but the potato croquette is pretty unique. The second entree I've tried is the walleye during their Friday fish fry. I thought this was pretty tasty and would definitely order it again. Where they really shine is during their happy hours, 3-6 all week long. During this time, all appetizers are half price (except the cheese board) and make some of the items such a steal. The cheese curds are different than anywhere I've tried them in Wisconsin. Lightly breaded, perfectly squared, and absent of the extreme saltiness you come to expect. Definitely give them a shot, but know these aren't the typical curds you're going to get in the state. The spinach artichoke dip is awesome, and super filling with massive amounts of chips, carrots, and broccoli. The tenderloin app which is usually $10, but only $5 during happy hour is probably the biggest steal. The steak comes cut into pieces on a skewer with sautéed mushrooms in the middle, and I've never had an issue with the quality of meat or doneness. Those three apps are our go to, but the pork belly and crab cakes are good as well when you're in the mood. Unfortunately, we weren't fans of the calamari which was bland or the fish tacos which seemed to have too much going on inside with a tortilla that leaves a lot to be desired. If you're on the fence, go during happy hour and gorge on appetizers where you won't feel bad about making a wrong choice. read more

We have been going to Beckets from its start. Love the unique menu, fresh food and variety. Unfortunately that came to an end today. We sat, got served drinks and appetizer plates were set out. Then the hostess Morgan came over and told us to move since we were in a reserved table. Reserved signs were on tables outside, but not on this inside location. She stood there demanding us to move and gave us attitude along with it. My 8 year old felt so badly that he did something wrong he almost started to cry. We approached her later about her demeanor and she said, "talk to my boss about it". We did speak to the boss and he simply said "she is having a bad day". I feel like we did something wrong. Customer service was left at the wayside by no fault of our own and we feel like we are to blame. read more

Awesome what they have done with this space. Group of 6 adults went for dinner and Packer game. Everyone's meal was great, atmosphere was fun. Drinks were delicious, lot of beer options and fancy cocktails to choose from. My wife absolutely loves the Walnut Burger. Highly recommend. read more

They boast a menu that looks high-class and gourmet, but unfortunately the food combinations just end up odd-tasting and nothing I'd ever order again. Good food, bad service. Went to Becket's with a group of 7. The food was fantastic. The potato croquets were a hit with our group. The artichoke and spinach dip was tasty. The reason for the low stars was the service. Actually more like the lack of service. It took over a half hour before we got to order. The place was not busy at all either. Thighs were forgotten about and the wait staff barely made contact with us. Despite the good food, it is likely we will never return to this place. read more

Beckets is probably one of the most expensive places in town but definitely worth the price every time I go there with my family the service is great the food is delicious and the atmosphere is wonderful especially in late spring when you can eat out side they also have a very nice bar and are very good with younger kids I always feel warm and cozy when I go there so, overall it's just a wonderful restaurant read more

I ordered the grass-fed New York strip served with jalapeno hollandaise sauce and candied bacon and was properly sedated by the savory flavors as they evolved across my palate. This perfectly prepared steak was complimented very well by an 18 year old scotch (Glenfiddich) which was served in a snifter so that it could breathe properly. If I could give them 0 stars I would. Went out for the first time at this restaurant with high hopes, we were going for my dad's 60th bday. Lets just say it was an extreme disappointment. Sat. special was prime rib (which in itself is usually fairly pricey). My dad, and both brothers ordered it. All 3 ordered medium rare, all 3 got nearly raw steaks. One of my brothers had a steak that was literally still cold in the middle. So we sent it back to the kitchen to at a bare minimum get it reheated and seared. My second brother couldn't even eat his steak due to the rawness of it, so we sent that back as well. First brother gets his steak back literally 2 minutes after sending it back, still cold......Unimpressed my dad speaks up and asks for an entirely new cut of meat, told it would take 5-10 minutes (fast forward 15-20 minutes later we finally got it). Meanwhile my second brother gets his steak back, still so raw he cannot do anything but eat the edges and let the rest go to waste because he had given up hope that anyone there even knew how to cook steak. To quote my dad "The outback steakhouse can cook a piece of sirloin that tastes better than the prime rib we got here tonight". To sum it all up, what they did was take 10 dollars off each of my brothers steaks (and still managed to screw up the bill of one of my brothers, but we paid and ran because we were already there for over 2.5 hours either waiting on food or fixes). Safe to say the pretty much ruined my family's view of the restaurant and fat chance we will ever return. Too bad too, its a nice place, nice environment, the chef's just cannot cook worth a damn. read more

This place has a fabulous atmosphere, a great location with a nice river view and a menu that tries really hard to be creative. They have a fabulous grilled tuna, both the entree and the appetizer are truly worth going there for. However, twice in a 6 week period my husband was served bad food - as in probably expired and definitely inedible, once it was steak and once it was walleye. Neither time did the server or any staff show any concern about it, they tried to charge us full price for something he couldn't even eat! When I asked them to take it off our bill, they did and were decent about it, but why did I have to ask for something so obvious? My husband refuses to ever go there now. It is a shame. read more

My husband and I have tried Beckets numerous times. Never know what you will get. Our last visit was less than great. Service seems to be the issue. Just by looking at our food, you could tell it sat under the warming lights a long time. (pickle had crust on it, basil on burger was wilted and buns were soggy on bottom and crunchy on top.) Waitress had to be reminded of special price on food, so bill had to be redone. Seems service is a big issue....maybe you have to "know someone" or be friends of the owners to get good service and good food. read more

It's really a hit or miss with this restaurant; sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not. My last time there, the food was good, and the waiter was fine (though a little socially awkward). My one complaint was on the patio - Spiders Galore!!! There were spiders everywhere, in the bushes, on the lights, on the chairs. And we're not talking the teeny spiders, it's the big nasty ones (Oshkosh residents will understand). Both my friend and I had to flick away spiders crawling on us more than once. Just downright nasty. I'm sure there are non-toxic sprays available to spray on the furniture and bushes, don't you think? read more

We went for the Mother's Day Brunch recently and it was extremely disappointing. This is the first time I have had food with little to no flavor at all. The brunch buffet was kept with a bare minimal amount of food, the room where the buffet was set up was too small and it was difficult to maneuver around in. The food quality was unacceptable for the price, and all of it was very uninspiring or not creative. I would swear most of the food was not even prepared on sight--i.e. it was likely prepared, frozen entrees and desserts. Not worth it at all. read more

So disapointing. Beautiful space, great view, extremely mediocre food. Suffers from the "good enough" syndrome that plagues so many brewpubs or restaurants in landmark buildings - the menu items sound good in theory, the recipes seem ok and the assortment of dishes seems interesting enough, but the execution falls well short of competent because the patrons are interested in some hook other than the food. They seem to know the cool airy design and nice river view (plus reasonably extensive drinks menu) will keep people coming in, so just let some cheap turn & burn crew work the line. We ordered one special, one standard entre, one child's entre. The first worrysome sign was when the waiter explained what a skate was. Like I'm unfamiliar with common fish. hmmm. Then every single meat item came well overdone. Uh-oh. The seasonal veg item (pea pods) was boring and contained numerous sub-par off-color icky looking pea pods. Nothing was absolutely terrible, but nothing was good. mostly we we just embarrassed at ourselves for choosing the glitzy looking place with bad food instead of seeking out someplace more foodie-pleasing, we wasted both money and our meal opportunity in Oshkosh. We realized later we would have had better chances of getting something truly tasty by grabbing an assortment of local picnic items at of the organic food stores in town. Or maybe some local classic drive-in fare, something interesting & well executed, instead of poor food in a pretty setting. This place has an aesthetically pleasing environment. It's usually full at the bar but worth the wait. The bartenders are really good, fun and they are make sure you never an empty drink. Beckets is new on the scene in Oshkosh, pleasantly located on the Fox River in the downtown area. The contemporary decor is pleasant but not matched in quality by the food and service. The grilled cheese with veggie sandwich fell apart and the veggies raw rather than grilled. The hamburger had an overly smoked taste and was served with a soggy topping of tomato chutney. I went for lunch with a small group of people on a sunny afternoon. The place is gorgeous. Modern art and design inside; gorgeous view outside. And the service is wonderful. I really want to love it, and I think it has great potential. But... the food... is not great. My salmon was too raw in the middle. I like salmon left slightly undercooked in the middle, but this was ridiculous. Another person's fish (mahi mahi), on the other hand, was overcooked. I tried one of their potato croquettes-- mashed potatoes deep fried. Sounds amazing right? It's a great idea, but the potatoes were too dense. They need some air in there. A lot of great ideas here, but not well executed. The desserts too-- the "key lime pie" tasted like instant pudding. And they used cool whip. C'mon, Becket's... don't use cool whip. This place looks so hip... and has a great-looking menu, and then they go and serve me cool whip on top of instant pudding. I agree with other reviewers that the food just doesn't match the outstanding decor and atmosphere. I really hope they fix this. read more

There's 2 different Beckets, both at the same location. The bar and cocktail scene is excellent. Great setting, nice views of our great Fox River. Cocktails are good (albeit, sometimes slow) and the decor inside is very contemporary and cool, especially for Oshkosh. And we need it. So it's very refreshing from that perspective. The food, on the other hand is very ... blah. I've eaten here 3 times. Each time with the hopes that the food will rise to the setting. Unfortunately, it hasn't. I have the feeling that the chef and the staff aspire for more, but they just don't know how to get there. The menu looks good, but when delivered, the food tends to be a watered down version of what could be. The steaks are medium grade, with an odd consistency and somewhat off flavor. I have had the fish as well, specifically a pecan-crusted walleye and it was downright scary. The texture was very dry and the flavor was almost cardboard-like. My wife and I also have tried the appetizers, those fare a little better, but overall the same experience has awaited us. I have to say the dining room wait staff is great. When I simply suggested that the fish wasn't that good, our waitress immediately removed it and didn't charge me for it. I am sure that may have come out of her wages for the night, so that was very gracious. Hopefully we made it up in her tip! read more

So disappointed. The restaurant is aesthetically pleasing with a beautiful view of the river. Our initial service was great, we were brought drinks and (ho-hum) appetizers immediately after being seated. The service bombed after that. Our table ended up creating a pile in the middle of the table of our empty drinks. Our servers would bring 1 or 2 drinks and walk away with nothing, leaving empty glasses and dishes at the table. It was only after we stacked the dishes that the wait staff finally removed them. We had to politely ask for quicker service (our waiter was better after that and even brought us bread 1 1/2 hours after being seated). Seated at 6:30, now 8:30 finally being serves dinner. My steak was over cooked and my veggies were cold when I was served. The restaurant is not packed, I would at least understand if it were. I will not be back. read more

I really enjoyed my dining experience at Becket's. Great selection of beer and a very interesting menu. I had the slab of ribs and let me tell you, those were great. Fall off the bone tender and an amazing bbq sauce. Definitely will be back to order more ribs and to try other menu items. Great atmosphere and great food will keep me coming back. read more
