I'm a fan. We are in the club, and we've taken advantage of some incredible deals lately. Maybe you're like me, maybe you're not, but my wife and I try to enjoy a bottle of wine every night. The problem is, my wallet can't support this hobby the way I would like it to, and so I am constantly in search of a great affordable wine to drink without reservation. BV has been delivering this lately for me. As they have changed their blends, and discontinued a few, combined with a tough market (many Napa wineries are letting expensive wine go for a deal right now) I've been able to buy really good wine with some abandon. It is now a great time to buy and so effective shopping may be rewarded, and you might be able to get some of the best deals you've ever seen. This weekend, for example, their selling their flagship red, Georges de Latour, for half off. Maybe it's because I'm in the club, maybe not, but I'd stop by and ask about it. If you find yourself able to join the tour, be sure to do so. I've had the tour one time, and this particular winery is one of the oldest in the valley. The folks working the tasting room are also very nice. A couple of drawbacks, and be sure to know about these. First, the tasting room is directly behind the Rutherford Grill, and so parking, at either place, can be frustrating and you may have to resort to the adjoining neighborhood, as I've done in the past. Second, the winery is right on the main road, and thus can become very crowded. I'd suggest you try to visit this winery early in the day or midweek. While you're thinking about it, don't hesitate to go to the Rutherford Grill. Great food.... no corkage, at least yesterday there was no corkage. That's right, buy wine at BV walk across the parking lot and enjoy it with lunch. It's a great plan. read more

Absolutely amazing experience. The wine. The wines we tasted were outstanding! Clone 6 really opened up and tasted great! We got to taste a reserve, learn about this special edition glass and then taste wines out of it. And I think I found my new favorite wine that everyone can enjoy at a party. Tapestry is delicious and the kind of wine everyone can find something to like about. The venue. Beautiful setting right across from the Train depot. The day we went the tasting room was closed and they were doing tastings in the the Members Lounge (I think?) either way the room was beautiful and I really wanted to walk around and explore. The service. The only thing better than the wine is the service! We had the pleasure of being served by Teddy who went above and beyond to talk and teach us about the wines we were drinking and he's funny. He made us feel at home and had us cracking up. He also let us look at these older documents showing the history of wineries and sacramental wines. Very, very interesting information and a very great experience. read more

What a pleasant afternoon! We purchased the $30 per person tasting (4 wines) online, but when we got there I thought that sharing one of those with my wife followed by a shared $50 reserve Cabernet tasting (5 wines) might give us a better overview. They were more than happy to accommodate us but said to sit in the garden and Charlie would get us started. Over the course of the next two hours, we tried 9 different wines, up to and including a $350 bottle of Madame de Latour 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon. What more can I say than WOW! Charlie was friendly, informative and quite delightful. Import to note, they never upcharged us or pushed too hard to join the club or buy bottles; the offer was there, but ZERO pressure. I have known about BV for over 30 years but never really even thought of going tasting here. Was in Rutherford Grill having dinner with my son one night. He told me dad you should have a glass of wine. Had one and just as I was taking my last sip a gentleman who was sitting at the bar walk by and asked what I was having. I told him and he asked if I ever had Tapestry. He explained he was from BV and gave me a splash. I enjoyed it so much I booked my tasting shortly after. Went to BV today with my friend and there was Charlie (the gentleman I was talking about). He was our pourer and we had a great time. Wine was very good, Charlie has a great personality and the history of BV was incredible. I am seriously thinking about joining the wine club. read more

Im giving some stars because the wine is amazing and good price point but the service was worth zero stars. My wife and I celebrated a great day in Napa. We love the BV wines, good people and wine go together. This is where my review comes into play. At BV. everyone is so friendly and eager to provide great and educational service...except for one. There is a woman named Roxana who is very loud, rude and abrupt when she talks. Her voice carried throughout the room and she spoke and acted very unprofessional especially when speaking with co-workers but even with customers. We will be back for the wines but will always ask for any other wine server except for Roxana . Sorry BV, the wine is amazing but the service needs to match. read more

Our server was great with intriguing conversation and great suggestions of Napa Valley. This was the last vineyard we went to so this may influence my review a little. I enjoyed the woke at the other places better. There was a great deal for 2 for 1 from winery finder and they let me charged dead phone there too. The people are very hospitable. They have 2 tours daily at 11am-ish and 1:30pm-ish so we didn't do a tour just a tasting. It was not a bad experience but with so many wineries in Napa and Sonoma, I wouldn't particularly Come here next time. Four of us arrived at the empty tasting room and discussed with the staff what we wanted to buy. After a few minutes we decided on one full tasting and a glass of wine, at which point the site manager said she had people coming in-- she didn't know exactly when -- and said she could not give us one if the many empty seats inside, but could only seat us outside-- on a 94° day! I explained I could not drink red wine in that heat, but was still told there was no room at the completely empty inn. I explained we had come from NY, she didn't care. This is supposed to be a premier winery in Napa. I reguess it used to be that. My husband and I have been there to do tasting with different groups of friends who are wine club members on 4 separate occasions in the past 6 months. Our experience has been more than disappointing. We have been members of many other premier wine clubs in the Valley and we have never been treated the way we have been treated here. For example, towards the end of tasting I ask for a taste of a wine we intend to buy but were denied even after we were told they had an open bottle. I guess our tasting time was up. Another time we were denied an additional tasting and were told we had to share the taste because the wine was so expensive and would be poured the wine but would have to share it. That was after we were offered a "revisit" of any wine we had already tasted. Needless to say, our friends were appalled and would probably quit the wine club. There are just too many other great wines in the Valley to endure such a bad experience again. The corporate acquisition of some of these wineries has really destroyed the wine tasting experience at these places. We will be looking to fine smaller or family owned wineries for future wine clubs. Though the wine is always really good BV and Hewitt. I would not recommend the tasting rooms. BV or Hewitt. I came for the reserve tasting which is a bargain at $40 as you get to taste some very expensive wines. Dan and Dan in the tasting room were funny, friendly and very knowledgeable. This tasting included 4 reserve wines, including the cab. The atmosphere is very nice and conducive to talking to whomever you meet in there. It was fun. The wines didn't thrill me. None of the 4 made me want to throw down $75-$150 for a bottle to take home. I have the wonderful ability to thoroughly enjoy a $3.99 Nero d'Avilo or primitivo from Trader Joe's. I have had a lot of fine wine in my life but my tastes are pretty simple. I know the 2014 cab I tasted will be much better in 10 years but not enough for me to justify the price. read more

Dan was our host and he is fabulous. He is very knowledgeable about the wines, winery and vineyards and the history behind BV, Hewitt and the Napa Valley wine industry. Every time I see him, I learn a little more about the wines and the CA wine industry. We brought our friends from Napa to BV and they fell in love with place and the wines. The ambiance was great - we tasted outside on the patio and the weather was perfect and the wines were divine. Dan's description of the differences between wines gave me a better understanding of how to explain their unique characteristics to my friends. I loved how he used a musical analogy saying that the Clone 6 was like a solo and the Georges de Latour was like a harmony. If you're in Napa, I highly recommend that you drop by BV. read more

REVIEWER # 222 I discovered Beaulieu Vineyards (BV) for my first time with a friend as we spent a day in Napa wine tasting. My friend is a wine club member so the tastings for the day were free. This place has a lot of history as this was one of the oldest winery's in the Napa area. They survived prohibition by making sacramental wine for the church. BV offers a general tasting room, a reserve tasting room and a full tour. Although I didn't experience the full tour I feel I can certainly write a review about my wine tasting experience in the general tasting room area. BV is conveniently located near Rutherford Grill Restaurant and right off the highway 29. They have a very easy parking lot with tons of space. FYI: Did you know that the sister vineyard for BV is Sterling Vineyards! I absolutely LOVE Sterling!! I have been to Sterling Vineyards before and after my first visit, I totally became a fan. He was able to explain all the different types of wines and even shared some history about the vineyard. If you are not a club member (Like me) then tastings are usually $40 per person and $10 upgrade for an additional taste of something special. Tasting fees are only waived for wine club members, so during my visit it was free! For my tastings I was able to try the: *2012 Maestro Reserve Red Wine #1 ($75.00) *2012 Maestro Reserve Cabernet Ranch #2 ($75.00) *2012 Clone 6 Cabernet Sauvignon ($165.00) *2013 Georges De Latour Cabernet Sauvignon ($145.00) My favorite wine during the tasting was the George De Latour! M company and I came here because one of us has a membership to the vineyard. We were served 6 different types of red wine. Rigid from the years 2001 to 2014. One of our favorites was the George De La Toure and the Maestro Syrah. The server was very kind he brought us breadsticks and asked us where we were fronted and was very personable. In the beginning was in busy but it got busier As Time moved on and the company that was a club member wanted to inquire about more wine choices and another server gladly helped us to find out if they had the wine she wanted in stock. The interior design of the seller is almost like a mountain house living room. Downstairs is where we were seated and did the tasting. Upstairs was a little bit more modern with TV screen and multiple choices of wine selections that we can choose from as well as different soaps and lotions that were cleverly named as you will see in hurt my photos that I will post. You also can go across the street for another tasting with the same Vineyard but different seating area. Overall experience was great, we got to taste and try different red wines that were excellent, really recommend this area if you want to wine taste red wines. This was by the far the absolute BEST vineyard experience my family has ever enjoyed. What a magical, wonderful atmosphere with the kindest and most welcoming host named Beau. My dad has heard a lot about the legendary Andre Tchelistcheff (known as the "Maestro of Napa Valley" and America's most influential post-Prohibition winemaker), and my family was on a mission to visit and see the statue. We were all so excited to find it in the charming oasis of the garden/patio area when we visited. The host named Beau was the most welcoming and kindest person we interacted with during all of our visits to any other vineyards. He was SO exceptionally knowledgeable and well-informed about the history of the industry, the vineyard, and Andre Tchelistcheff himself. He made all of us feel like family. We are so grateful to him for the magical experience he created for us. The wine was exceptional. We loved every single one of the samplings, but the Georges de Latour Cabernet Sauvignon in particular was heavenly. We are still daydreaming about this wine. We visited the Beaulieu tasting room while trying to kill time waiting for a table at the Rutherford Grill next door. Since we had an hour to spare we decided to share a tasting. We decided on the basic tasting, which was a tasting of any four wines on the wine list. Since we both prefer red wine, we started with the Pinot Noir. This was my least favorite of the four, which wasn't surprising to me as I am not a huge fan of Pinot's. Then we moved on to two Cabernet's. Both were excellent. Each wine we tasted was better than the last. To end the tasting we tried the Tapestry. This wine was so smooth! We decided to add on the George De Latour tasting at the end for an additional fee. I'm pretty sure I died and went to wine lovers heaven after tasting this wine. It's $145 per bottle, but SO good! If you like red wine I highly recommend you splurge and try the George De Latour. I should also mention that the pours here are very generous! We thoroughly enjoyed our tasting at Beaulieu and I went in with low expectations. If you get the chance to stop here, definitely do and be sure to try the Tapestry and the George De Latour! read more

While they are famous for their red wines, it's their white wines- Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat, that are underrated. I went for the $15 Heritage Tasting (it has since been upped to $30) It's a hospitable winery, and they know how to handle crowds. They offer different kinds of experiences. Not every tasting has a tour, or a charcuterie plate. One needn't have advance reservations, but it depends. The service is excellent&the wines are superb. For all their fame, they've remained unpretentious. Interesting trivia- One of Beaulieu's founders, Georges de Latour, found a resilient root stock for his vineyards in 1906. BEST service & wine in Napa Valley!! Came in on a Saturday morning at opening time with some friends from out of town. From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out the service was AMAZING!!! We had Dan pouring our glasses & he was the best ! He told us the history of all the wines he was pouring & was always readily available if we needed another pour or if we had any suggestions. He also was very funny which was a plus for our group ! Karen the manager also came over to our table & was chatting with us throughout our tasting. Her personality was amazing & she was so helpful too! Karen gave us the opportunity to try different wines that were not included in our tasting. Sometimes when you go to set tastings you see other wines on the list that you would like to try but are not able to so our group was appreciative of her for that! She brought out her favorite wine & also some dessert wines for us to try. By the end of our tasting, we all were ready to buy a few bottles each & we sure did :) Thank you Dan & Karen for making our experience eventful & amazing ! It was time for our bi-annual Wine Country trip and BV was our first stop. Prior to the visit, I had arranged with Charlotte for a private tasting in the Reserve Tasting Room. Arriving at 10:30 on a Saturday, we checked in with Dan at the Reserve Tasting section. Our reservation was not on list, but Dan asked that we have a seat at a table while he confirmed our appointment. During this time we were poured a glass of their Sauvignon Blanc. Dan returned and our reservations were confirmed and we proceeded to the Reserve Tasting Room. Dan said before our tasting, he would take us on tour of the cellars. Dan brought us to the next building and showed us the milestone pictures on the wall of the Heritage Room and gave us a nice history of BV from its founding to the present day. We then toured the wine cellars with the stacks of oak barrels and then to the fermentation room with the stainless steel and some concrete vats. After the tour, we returned to the Reserve Tasting Building to the Techelistcheff Room for our tasting. We tasted a five vintage flight of Georges de LaTour, Clones and Madam de LaTour. It was a nice tasting of these delicious cabernets, from the classic Georges to the Clones and Madam. We had a nice charcuterie with our tasting and Dan provided bottles of Voss water to ensure we were hydrated. Dan was a great personable host. During our visit, we found out that he was a native San Franciscan and went to my rival high school. But here, we were had a common bond, tasting and enjoying great wine. This was a memorable visit and as fans of BV wines, we were appreciative to get an informative history lesson of BV, to see the fermentation and cellaring of the wines and taste some amazing wines. We bought a bottle of the 2014 Georges LaTour to bring back with us to enjoy. Thanks Charlotte for arranging and Dan for being a great host. read more

Update: BV handled my concerns immediately and with class. A BV Manager (Ben Mason) reached out to me to "do what's right" and offered to ship a free bottle of wine for the misunderstanding (and the lack of restrictions on the offer in their welcome letter). I re-instated my order for five bottles of sale wine, Ben added a bottle, took my credit card and is shipping free to my home in the SF Bay Area. Ben was polite, professional, apologetic and candid about the steps they are taking to resolve this type of situation.
