The tasting prices are outrageous here for the quality of the wines. We did not purchase any wines here which tells you something. I would give 1* but the pour staff was super nice. However I did not like having to wait 10 minutes for someone to ring me up. Need to empower your employees with simple tasks like charging a credit card. On the plus side it is easy to walk in without a reservation. I would treat this as a last option if everything else is booked. read more

A few weeks ago our family chose to have a reunion of sorts in Napa Valley. We (all12 of us) toured the valley, it was a wonderful experience! But...nothing compared to our visit with Beaulieu Vineyard. B.V. Was the highlight for many reasons; *Beaulieu Vineyard is 'Iconic' One of the oldest wineries in the valley...widely known for their continued excellence in the world of wines! *The Staff Roxanna and Kerry were knowledgeable and friendly and clearly proud of the history and products they are part of! *The Wines 2019 George De Latour Private Reserve 2019 Madame De Latour Red Blend Tapestry Reserve Maestro Cabernet Sauvignon They were Wonderful!!! The tour and tasting were filled with notes of history and winemaking, but presented in a way that was entertaining and fun! We were even treated to a chance meeting of Trevor Durling (the wine maker)! He filled us in on even more history of this beautiful place and the winemaking process. The wines here are pretty good and the tasting room is cozy. We were helped by multiple staff members and all were nice / pleasant. On the website there are multiple tasting types but when we got there there was never an opportunity to clarify exactly which tasting we wanted. We ended up tasting some pretty good reds, which is good for me but it's hard to recommend what tasting to advised others to lead with should they decide to visit. With that being said, I definitely recommend making a stop here if you're in the area and they do a pretty good job of figuring out what type of wine you'd like based off conversation so you're bound to like what they recommend but maybe try asking on where their recommendations fall price-wise so that you're not hit with an unexpected bill at the end. We didn't have that issue luckily but it seems possible. It was raining the day we tasted so we stayed inside for the duration of the tasting. Tastings are seated and parking is easy. read more

Talk about endless wineries and memorable experiences at all these magical caves and vineyards. Deliciously strong wines, try the Cab Sauv, you will fall in love! BV has amazing staff, and they've been in the hospitality business for many decades. When you need to refuel with food, there's Rutherford Grill, or my personal favorite is getting all my goodies at Dean & Deluca before hitting up another winery. Oakville grocery is another place to fuel up. I go from St. Helena to Calistoga and wave to the riders on the train. I just love this stretch of Napa Valley. Happy Sunday Funday my Yelp friends! Beaulieu Vineyard (pronounced like bowl-you) is a vineyard near Rutherford, California. It was established by Georges de Latour and his wife Fernande in 1900 A large parking lots wraps around the back of the property; the driveway is long and lined with Sycamore trees leading to gardens with a European feel to their layout. We first went to their regular tasting room; the wine was average and the service was so so. I would recommend just going directly to the reserve room especially if Karen is working. My friends and I did a private wine tasting for 9 people and when we arrived, we were immediately brought to our own private room. Brad hosted and taught us so much about the vineyard's history as well as how to enjoy the wine and added jokes all around. BV is known for their red wines so we had 5 tastings of the different ones. This was the second winery we visited while in Napa, and by far the best one we visited. Its a lot larger then the previous one we were at and it just had a richer or a classier feel to the place. Our wine person was Pamela and she was wonderful!! She was easy to talk to, very knowledgable about the wines. Able to carry a conversation, quick with a witty comeback, but at the same time professional about it. And was delightful to speak to. She moved so effortlessly between her different tables and didn't seem flustered at all when there was an influx in people. She is the epitome of great customer service combined with speed and efficiency. She was pretty awesome!! In regards to the wines, it turns out I'm more of a white wine type of guy. But here they served 5 of their red wines which I didn't care for much. What I did like though was the usage of different glasses. So each wine had a different glass, so there was no mixing of flavors. But she let us try other drinks as well such as their port which was actually really good. Quite a sweet drink. They even had a small plate of cheeses and cranberries and nuts which was good to munch on since by then I was pretty hungry. A woman at the establishment was especially making passive aggressive remarks, was super slow to serve at 4:15, we did not get a second glass by 4:45, yet was rushing us out the door at 5. AWFUL experience. Opened 2007 Georges de Latour on Christmas Eve 2019 and the cork completely disintegrated. This is the 2nd bottle of BV that we opened this year with the same problem, and a third bottle including one my dad opened this year (from 2009) and that one cracked in half but luckily the wine was still potable. I emailed BV directly with pictures and explanation, along with a side-by-side of a 2007 Anderson's Conn Valley bottle that was purchased around the same time and stored along side the BV and opened on the same night that had NO problem with the cork. And BV will do absolutely NOTHING to make this right. Will NEVER purchase a BV wine again. Ben contacted us and has now sent us a new vintage of Georges de Latour for our troubles. I only wish customer service had done this prior to having to spend time on negative reviews. read more

You can't miss the stunningly mammoth stone-carved ivy-covered winery that hosts Beaulieu Vineyard in Rutherford along Highway 29 in the heart of wine country. In fact, so noteworthy is it it is the second oldest winery in the entire region creating the boldest Cabernet Sauvignon's since the mid-1880's. I had the opportunity to sample the wines at a Yelp Elite Event back in June and now thanks to be the ultimate winner of a raffle prize at that event, I was back for the Georges de Latour Personalized Legacy Experience Tour along with three friends who loved not only were wine lovers, but especially the vintage Georges de Latour Cabernet reserves from Beaulieu. Needless to say we were an excited quartet. Upon our appointment time of 2:30pm on a warm Saturday afternoon, we entered the Georges de Latour Tasting Room patio and were greeted with a delightful splash of their 2015 Carneros Chardonnay, which was delightful splash of citrus. Associate Robert gave us the grand tour and was really great at leading us through the history of one of the most legendary wineries in the region. Our tour started in their historic tasting and production room which was built in 1885 made out of chiseled stone out of local bedrock. We saw where their grapes are brought into their tanks, yeast is added which is converted into sugar, finally into alcohol and finally into wine. This has always been a smartly operated winery, even before prohibition, they cozied up to local churches so production remained strong even during Prohibition. They make their own wine barrels out of three types of wood, they have these rare concrete tanks which are controlled by computers, meaning that even during the recent fires, everything was safe and sound thanks to smart machinery. Robert then sat us down on a table in this historic and perfectly chilled historic tasting room where we dined on platters of charcuterie, cheeses, almonds, and toasted baguettes. A feast for kings and queens topped off with the finest vintages of Cabernet Sauvignon one could ever have. We started with one of their best vintages in the winery's history, 1974, whose taste resembled that of port or sherry with hints of raisins and black olives. So meticulous was Robert that he had to pour wine into each of our glasses slow and methodically. Next came the 1999 vintage, which ironically wasn't a great year for wines, but now is tasting great thanks to the wine being able to sit in the bottle for some time. It was now a softer wine with a baked apple flavor out of it. Other wines we tried included the 1989, which paired nicely with the charcuterie with our meal. The 2009, which had a fresher fruit flavor with certain spiciness with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. And the more recent 2014 had a smooth oakey flavor that had something called a Rutherford dust on it. Then we were lucky to sample a wine called the 2013 Clone Six, which they only make ten bottles a year and is only sold at the winery, it was soft and peppery and of all of the Cabernet's we tried was probably the best structured wine of our tasting. Robert was so great in our private tasting that he taught us how to try the wines in different ways to get a different sense of the flavors. We swished it in our mouths, let air in as we held a sip in our mouths, tried it after taking a bite of cheese, nothing was off-limits and this was such an incredible learning experience. As our day ended, we headed back to their stylish tasting room and Robert was nice enough to give us a few more samples from their vast library including being able to compare their clone six from 2013 to their Clone 4 from 2014. It turns out they are so different from each other as this one was brighter and fruitier. Thankfully, both were smooth and flavorful. We also got to sample the 1976 Cabernet Sauvignon, which tasted very savory which had the essence of soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce to it. Then to cap off our three hour tour and tasting, they were nice enough to give me a pour of their most recent Muscat, which as always the perfect dessert wine no matter the year. This was an unforgettable day, we all learned so much from Robert and his colleagues, they treated us like we were family. It was so great to see the passion and love for Georges de Latour wines from both the staff at Beaulieu and my fellow wine lovers. In fact, Robert came to work here because he loved the taste of the Georges de Latour wines, which when you think about it is all you can hope for in a loyal employee. The perfect day, experience, and company is all anyone can hope for, and it comes in spades while you're at the Georges de Latour wine tasting room at Beaulieu Vineyard in Rutherford. read more

What a spectacular day to do a wine tasting! First we had a glass of Rosè it was delicious fruity and light so perfect on a warm summers day, Then we walked into the patio filled with black wrought iron tables with big red umbrellas and we were surrounded with ivy covered walls it was so incredibly charming. Robert was so extremely knowledgeable about all the history of this winery and all the wines. After our tour we went back to the gorgeous patio area, we tasted several delicious reds Tapestry was a favorite of all the red wines, but all were amazing. But my true love and I mean I am in love with the Georges de Latour Private reserve Cabernet Sauvignon outstanding or I should say it was spectacular, this is including a spectacular price that goes along with it, but I must say worth every penny! Charlie was wonderful telling us all about each of the wines and even what types of food to go with the wine. Thanks to BV for all the hospitality is was a super Sunday fun day I'll be back! Visited this winery for a friends birthday. We were served by Roxanna, she was extremely knowledgeable about the wine, gave a great backstory and history of the vineyards. Why do I love thee? Let me count the ways... Coming to Napa Valley, I already have a set of wineries I want to hit, "The wine list" as I call it was above all else are my top vineyards to visit, trust me, if you only have a 3-day weekend to explore Napa you have to plan your wine tasting trips or you will end up missing out on those amazing wineries you want to visit. It is very easy to get caught up with the excitement of trying out all the amazing wineries Napa has to offer, it is also very common mistake, it is the perfect recipe to get "happy faced" and wasted not to mention miss out on the MUST try places that Napa has to offer. Beaulieu Vineyards (BV) / Beaulieu Wines...what's not to love? Okay, the main tasting room might not be as extravagant as some but what they lack in visual pleasure they sure compensated with amazing selections. I personally love the reds especially the Cab's, I couldn't have picked the best place to do this tasting as Beaulieu Winery has a wide array of reds that can sure fill the void for those wino's with discriminating "red palate". From the subdued to the bold, the complex and sublime with a hint of leather, cherry, pepper and orange rhine...yes, it truly was a tasting I will never forget. Our wonderful server, Mr. Robert did a fantastic job with our tasting (reds), the slow progression from the mild to the bold really made this visit quite pleasurable, I was also elated to the fact that he took us to the VIP room for some amazing vintage wine sampling (Hello George De Latour) - that was quite a treat and honestly, one of the highlights of my Napa Valley visit. If you happen to be visiting or vacationing in the beautiful Napa valley and you happen to be a red wine lover like yours truly---make your list and check it twice! Last visited BV back in 2008 with friend who were working at BV and was fortunate to take home a whole case of Georges de Latour Reserve 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon. This time around I was visiting with friends who were on a mission to sign up for a wine club with a vineyard with great history and great wines. BV did meet both of those criteria. We were greeted by Mike and then taken straight to the wine club tasting room where we got to sample many of the top wines at BV. The list included: 2015 Merlot 2014 Tapestry 2015 Tapestry 2014 Clone 6 2014 Clone 4 2014 Georges de Latour Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 Georges de Latour Cabernet Sauvignon All were great wines but I especially liked the Tapestry and the Georges de Latour. The Tapestry has a lot of sily tannins which sit on your palate for the longest time, while the Georges de Latour is just an overall great Cab to drink. Mike was a great host and gave us plenty of information on the the wine club and history of the vineyard and winemakers. Needless to say, we were very impressed with the whole experience and the wines here. BV has a lot to offer if you're interested in great Cabernet Sauvignons and one of the wineries with a long history in Napa. read more

The tasting was expensive and the person helping us had the personality of a gnat. After about 15 minutes we were out. There is no tour as well. I have enjoyed Napa for many years and experienced many wine tastings but Kerry and her staff took it to another level. Rutherford is my favorite AVA so of course my wife and I stopped into BV, we were treated like royalty by Kerry. The ambiance is exceptional with the historical significance as to why the wine is so great. If you are looking for that tasting that is focused on GREAT wine you have to see Kerry and enjoy the George de Latour Library Experience. We walked away with a 1981 Cab that we enjoyed at New Years dinner and WOW what a great wine!!! read more

We were in the Reserve Tasting Room which is an outside enclosed area with a bar, tables and umbrellas for when it gets too sunny. We were greeted with their delicious Rosé which is a unique blend, not sweet but a very dark color. My favorite wines we had were the SB (I got a lot of peach notes! Fruity and delicious.) Next, I really enjoyed the Tapestry. It is a red blend and very nice. They also make a port which many were excited about! We were able to tour their cellars which was great! The cellar building was erected in 1885 (I believe?). The winery has an interesting history, especially with the history of their winemakers! There is a timeline with photos and information in the cellar that is a must see if you go here. read more

This was an outstanding experience with exceptional customer service. My family and I were in late this afternoon and knowing wineries usually close down around 4-5pm, they were incredible to still treat us so well with exceptional service through the evening. We had a 4pm reservation, which I conveniently booked through yelp. (Yay!) The manager and another sweet gal in the tasting room were wonderful to assist us to the reserve tasting room. As for the experience, their cab is simply the best. Pure, delicious, earth tones and bright tannins with a balanced acidity. I enjoyed the history that Dan shared as well as the amazing Marconi almonds and cheese plates in the reserve tasting room. I would love to come back at harvest in the fall I had a bottle given to me as a wedding gift, which originally introduced me to the flavors of BV. The winery experience most definitely did not disappoint the flavors of the yummy bottle. Thank you for your incredible winemaking and customer service.
