My husband and I stopped in for lunch the other day. I didn't know I wanted a Ruben but sure glad I ordered one! It honestly was one of the best I've had in a longggg time! Everything was perfectly proportioned and it was on fresh baked grilled, made in house)rye bread! YUM! Honestly if I ever need a Rueben again I'd be sure to come back here!! This is the textbook definition of a cafe/diner in all the good ways! We come here as a family quite a bit and every year for New Year because of the friendly staff and quality food. The menu is varied and is sure to have something for any palette. I love the Montecristo because the fry on it is top-notch. Their omelettes are second to none as well. The eggs are fluffy and packed with fresh ingredients. Our son's favorite dish is the Beef Philly cheese because of the melted cheese, meat, and unctuous au jus. They're most known for their seafood dish called the Harbor Sauté. On this visit I grabbed their Shrimp and grits. The lot can be pretty packed but it's worth searching for a spot. The service is quick once you enter depending on how pack they are. I have ate pretty much the entire menu, however this visit I decided to eat the French toast, shrimp & grits, corn beef hash, and cheese eggs. Of course I have NO complaints! My first impression of my first visit. We came at lunchtime, the parking lot was packed. A very good sign that we were in for a treat. The outside looked like a small warehouse. The inside is clean and cute. FINALLY a restaurant with condiments on the table! The menu is huge. They also had 16 specials on white boards! Everything they had I wanted to try. The staff were all so nice and friendly. Along with all of the menu items they have a display with cakes and pies, and don't forget the ice cream. They also sell t-shirts. The breakfast plates that other people were getting looked amazing. My Philly cheesesteaks was very good and I recommend that you try it at least once. Very reasonable price. I recently found out about this place on social media so I made a special trip for the one and only harbour saute(shrimp, blue crab, scallops, peppers, tomatoes and cheese on a bowl of grits) with toast for $26. The portion is clearly massive so I had to take about half of it to go. I also asked for the cheese on the side. This spot is popular for the locals so the parking can get a little tight and the line to pay can get a little long so I will definitely consider doing a to go order if I return. Great little diner! Stopped for lunch and was surprised how wonderful this little gem was. Quick and wonderful service with homemade food. Husband had the fried chicken club and potato salad. The potato salad was different than what we have ever had and it was absolutely delicious! I had the grill turkey with vegetable beef soup. Best vegetable beef soup ever! We could tell the bread was baked fresh because the bread slices were uneven. When my husband went to pay the bill, there was a signed that said " fresh bread baked daily". : ) Definitely recommend!! read more

Came here for breakfast. Cute, bustling, cafe with great food and service and a large menu plus daily specials boards. Homemade bread and desserts! I had the large stack pancakes and took half home, huge portion, fluffy and delicious. Also, a side of crispy bacon. One of the best breakfasts I've had in the Charleston area. My husband had three seafood omelette, grits and sourdough toast. He also loved his. One other thing worth mentioning is that all servers help everyone so you can ask any of them to help you. I love this, I don't know why more restaurants don't do it this way. Also, you don't have to wait for your check, just go to the register when you're ready with your table number which you can find on your table by the jelly. I walked in and the staff were very friendly. I watched them interact with their patrons and they treat everyone with hospitality. They have a few regulars that they will call by name and sit and chat with. It makes you feel like you are living in a small town. During my short wait for my food, I read the decor on the walls. It ranged from wholesome quotes to hilariously savage commentary. THE FOOD: I ordered the breakfast burrito, it's generally my go to during brunch time. The burrito only consisted of four visible ingredients, tortilla, sausage, cheese and egg. I generally like more vegetables in my breakfast burritos like tomato, onion or green peppers. While it was missing a fresh factor, it was still very good. The eggs were so fluffy, the sausage was cooked on a griddle assembly of the burrito, so it added a crispy texture to the filling. The cheese inside the burrito was American, which I thought was a good choice, it added a good amount of saltiness. There was nothing wrong with the grits, it was creamy and smooth, no hard hominy which I like. It was seasoned well, didn't need butter or salt with a layer of cheese on top. Again there was nothing wrong with the grits that I could tell... but I was not inclined to finish them. The portion was good, I wasn't able to finish the entire burrito but I definitely wanted to! My husband and I came here today while on our way to Costco. I've heard great things about this place so we wanted to check it out! It's very diner-esque inside. Wooden booths mixed with tables. They have a case up front with desserts and ice cream. You have to go up to pay your ticket so remember your table number! I opted for the seafood omelette and loved it. I got mine with cheddar cheese instead of American cheese. It's was stuffed full of shrimp and scallops with I slight kick (which for someone who would like spicy, you may miss this part. I'm a spice wimp). It was so good though. I got sourdough bread too. I only ate a bite of my husbands grits because I opted to get my meal without grits. Not because I don't like them, but I just knew this omelette would be filling enough. My husband got the lowcountry skillet and really enjoyed it. I'd love to bring my daughter here one day. My husband and I stopped by for breakfast one Saturday morning before errands. They had a fall special of Pumpkin pancakes, I asked the question, and sure enough - real pumpkin in the batter. Sold. Not usually the type of faire I choose to start the day, but couldn't resist and I loved them! We liked this diner better than another popular diner in the area, but my husband got the chicken fried steak and was disappointed in the lack of pepper, or even flavor in the gravy. I was disappointed that it was fake butter, cream and syrup in packets at the table. But, the coffee held up to a bit of cream so that is always a plus. Best meal I had in Charleston. I went for breakfast on a Tuesday morning thinking there wouldn't be many people there but I got one of the last available tables. I wanted to try everything on the menu but I have this thing for corn beef hash at dinners so of course I had to get it. One of the best I've ever had too. Heavenly Hash Skillet has crispy potatoes, cheese and topped with two eggs and a big bowl of grits. Choice of biscuit or toast. I never made it to the grits because I was too full. I added a one large fluffy pancake because that's another thing about a dinner breakfast. Just about every order coming out of the kitchen was shrimp & grits so they must be good. I wish I'd found them a day sooner so I could have had another meal with them. Even with a full restaurant there was plenty of parking out front but if it filled up there were close by options. We were here on New Year's Day, and the place was busy . My husband and I both order the Harborside special, which is everything under the sea on top of cheese grits. The meal was absolutely delicious and priced right. I will say the only thing that could make it a little bit better is some seasoning, while the seafood was cooked well and very fresh and the cheese grits were goos, I did find myself having to add some salt and pepper which is really rare for me. I know some places are not heavy on the seasonings, they just let the food speak for itself. I did expect the shrimp and crab meat scallops and lobster to have a little bit more seasoning to it, other than that I still give them five stars. Our waitress was very fast and polite. Came here on a Thursday morning, with 7 other friends. When we arrived the parking lot right in front of the stand-alone shop was very crowded. But we could find spots very easily and we had to wait in line to be seated. Inside the restaurant was crowded but tables were turning around really fast. When we sat down, or server introduced herself, took our beverage orders and within 3 minutes returned with coffees and water. The next time she came around she brought a new server who was in training. I noticed she was very thorough in her instructions to the new server especially because this is a large group, and we will each paying our bills individually. So I figured she was teaching her this new system if a large group chooses to do what we do. We waited for about 10 minutes before food game. The new server brought us our food and she matched the food to the right person. I ordered the seaside, which is an omelette with crab meat, shrimp and scallops. It came with grits and toast. My omelette did not look really nice, but it was filled with seafood. They definitely did not skimp on ingredients. While we were eating, the line started forming. And when we finished our breakfast, the line went out the door. We were so glad we came early when the line was really short. So, if you want to come here, please be prepared to wait in line for your table. Everyone from server to the cashier was very friendly at this restaurant. I can see why this is such a popular restaurant. Not only the staff with nice the food was delicious. My son and I went the day after Christmas, the wait was about 10min and we were seated soon away. We both had the pancake platter (I forgot the name, Sue something maybe?). The food came out right away and it was DELICIOUS! The pancake was so fluffy and was homemade! I'm a pancake snob and VERY particular about my pancakes and these were the real deal! I finished all of my grits but left a number of shrimp behind. If you are looking for to-die-for shrimp and grits, Iron Rooster in Maryland is our favorite and hard to compare to any others. The omelet was just ok. The mushrooms and veggies were over-seasoned. The BlackBerry pancakes were huge, thick and fluffy with plenty of fruit mixed in and they give you a side of compote as well. Wow, I can't believe I lived in Charleston for 11 years and I never stopped by the Bear E Patch before! My parents and I came by for breakfast on the way to drop me off at the Train station after Thanksgiving break, and we were super impressed with the whole experience. The staff was super friendly and efficient, the food was tasty, quick and cheap, and the decor on the walls was super down home and cute. We loaded up on a bunch of stuff and loved all of it except the crab omelet, which was suuuuuper fishy tasting. But the country fried steak sliders, the Lowcountry skillet, and the cheesy grits were all top notch. I would definitely come back here for breakfast again anytime! read more

This is right by my house. Going around doing errands with my girlfriend, this is our first stop at 12:45. It's busy- good sign. As we are seated, the hostess takes a drink order before I see a menu. A different employee comes by and asks Augusta if she is ok. Weird interaction. A new waitress brings the drinks and takes our order. This is a diner so I order a burger and shake. The flavors aren't listed so I'm sent to the ice cream freezer to choose a flavor and order from a different waitress. The burger was a frozen formed patty and not a Bubba Burger, this was more like a Flander's. The onions rings were good, Augusta's chicken and waffles were good. Overall, I walked away confused. While paying at the counter, the cashier asks me how much I want to tip on my card- 15%, 20%, 25%? That was weird. I interacted with 5 employees, there was no clear message.
