Recommended here by our hotel front desk. We visited on a Sunday in March before 9am and there was no wait (quickly filled up after 9). It's cozy inside. Portions are modest. We got the chicken & waffle (singular) and big brekko sando (should be called petite). Liked the spice on the chicken and the sauce on the breakfast sandwich. Had to request a refill on coffee. They unfortunately do NOT offer a military discount (all of the other shops we had been to this weekend had honored military, so was just a little surprised is all. Paid for metered parking in front. Came pretty early into Leavenworth excited for a day of exploring, but also hungry and in need of more coffee. We found a parking spot, and headed out with the intention of walking around and finding something to eat. In front of us was a restaurant (this restaurant) so I looked at the menu and was instantly pretty sold. The use of Berbere seasoning alone had me. But, we elected to not go into the first spot we looked and so we walked around and finally I broke it to my husband I wanted to go back. So we did and glad we did! This one gets a 4 star for all the reasons. Interesting and creative menu, delightful service, delicious food and drinks. This isn't a place that's good for what it is it's just great outright. We split the white cheddar grits and greens, that had a berbere spiced chicken sausage. Incredible - so many wonderful flavors that went together magically. I could eat that on the daily. And we also split the banana toast crunch - basically banana bread French toast crusted in Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal. Amazing! We learned it's not part of the normal menu - it totally should be. Lights out! I got the Klondike drink which was basically a boozy peppermint hot cocoa. Very very sweet - but YUM. We were warmly greeted by our server upon entering the restaurant and quickly seated at our table. Another stop on our Leavenworth trip was Bear Bear, where we decided to grab breakfast. One of the biggest perks was the location. It's conveniently right across the street from where we were staying. The restaurant itself is very cute and offers both indoor and outdoor seating. Since we were hungry and didn't want to wait, we chose to sit outside on the patio. Thankfully, it was an enclosed tent area with two heaters running, which made it comfortable. We were seated quickly and looked over the menu right away. I ordered the Bread Pudding French Toast, which came with whipped vanilla crème fraîche, maple caramel syrup, and fruit compote. The bread pudding itself was good, but in my opinion, the fruit compote wasn't necessary. It ended up overpowering the flavor of the bread pudding rather than complementing it. My cousin ordered the Chicken and Waffles, which I also got to try. It was okay, but not quite what we were expecting. The chicken was more like a chicken tender instead of the usual chicken thigh we've had at other chicken-and-waffle spots. The waffle was very soft and lacked the crispiness that helps balance the dish and hold up to the chicken. Overall, our experience was just okay. Nothing bad, but nothing particularly memorable either. On the plus side, the service was good, and our food came out fairly quickly after we received our hot cider. We arrived at Leavenworth after 2 hrs and 20 mins drive. There was one parking spot left at the Park and Ride so we were able to get free parking. Bear Bear was one of the few places opened early enough on a New Year's Eve so we had lunch there. My daughter had their House Waffle and the maple syrup was a full maple taste! Was seated outside and thankfully there is a covered gazebo with heaters because it was raining pretty hard. My favorite meal is hands down always gonna be breakfast and since this place was so close to where we were staying, it was a unanimous YES when we suggested trying out this cute restaurant! We got here right when they were opening and Danny (not sure if he is the owner but he was awesome!) was setting up the sign outside but told us we were welcome to come on in. We had a wheelchair and a stroller in our party and he said he would get the back ready so we would be able to use that entrance to get the wheelchair in. He pushed some tables together since we had a bigger party and made sure we had a place for the stroller and was so accommodating and kind. The space here was so cute and welcoming, there were cool pictures posted up on the walls along with some great quotes too! Not only was the service and decor incredible, so was the food!!! Danny told us one of the specials was pumpkin waffles and since that is my jam, i had to jump on that! But so many other things looked so good too so i ended up getting a few things! We were sat at this picnic table on the side of the restaurant which I can appreciate because the place itself seemed a bit tight and we were a bigger group so it was nice to have our own little area. Came to Bear Bear on a Sunday morning after hiking the Enchantments with a big group of friends. They opened up a table in the back for us so we didn't have to wait long, thank goodness! The menu is great, there's so much variety. My friends and I all found items on the menu that intrigued us. Unfortunately, I felt like the service was off for us. I had a couple of strange interactions with our server. I ordered my mushroom melt with a poached egg (confirmed with my table that I did say it clearly), but it didn't come with the egg. I checked with the server to see if the egg was captured in the order, but she insisted that I had not said I wanted anything else. I had also ordered a Berry Spritz, but she came back a bit later and asked if I had decided on ordering the drink or not. Maybe it was just a series of miscommunications but it left a bad taste in my mouth. The final straw was with the side salad that came with the mushroom melt. The menu does not say that the mushroom melt comes with a side salad. I was surprised when the side salad came out with nuts on top, which I am allergic to. I asked the server what mix of nuts was in the dukka nut and she kept insisting that she had no idea. I could have pushed harder to see the packaging, but in the end she went to get a new salad with no nuts. tldr; service was fine but I felt like some of our interactions could have been better. A great breakfast spot in Leavenworth! I highly recommend joining the wait list since there's a wait however I'm not sure if this actually improved our wait time. I checked in with the hostess when we arrived and was told it would be a 30 minute wait. Other people arriving were also quoted 30 minutes. One of the servers who initially sat us seemed flustered and was not overly friendly, but our server who took care of us was wonderful, very attentive, and super kind. I ordered the Miso Mushroom Melt which was absolutely delicious. My 13 year old son ordered the smoked salmon Benedict which I tried a bite of and it was sooo flavorful.
