I came to Take-a-Break Cafe with my uncle and my aunt in the morning on Sunday the 5th of September 2021. I treated them to a breakfast out. The workers were friendly and the restaurant clean. One booth table was open, which we lucked out and got, and a few spots were open in the parking lot. When it came to payment, it was easy to get the bill before my uncle and aunt, who are regulars here, could grab it. I appreciate the wait staff didn't interfere and not let me pay. My uncle and my aunt both ordered scrambles, which were in the $12-14 price range and I went with a $9 ham burrito. The burrito was tasty, though the tortilla could have been a little softer. Some places provide huge portions, the portions here were manageable and the burrito was just the right amount of food for a morning meal with no leftovers. The scrambles and accompanying sides were not too large of portions either and my uncle and aunt greatly enjoyed them. read more

Found this Cafe by accident due to wa.dot.gov construction on the Vantage bridge, when en route to Spokane. Have been here multiple times since, every time, the staff is friendly (even the new guy) and the food is awesome. Regardless if breakfast or lunch meal (BLT) the bacon is cooked to perfection. We make it a point to visit every time we make the drive over the pass eve with the added travel time. read more

The biggest country fried steak I've ever eaten!!! My boyfriend and I shared the 6 oz country fried steak. For our sides we chose over easy eggs, hash browns, and white toast. We came in starving and we left SO STUFFED! And we shared the plate! My little sister got the 4 oz country fried steak with hash browns and a homemade buttermilk biscuit. She loved it. Her boyfriend got the single pancake, which was humongous and fluffy. He said it was super good! So overall the food was amazing. The gravy on the steak was so tasty that my bf and I finished our food to the last bite. We're not locals in this area as we are from Seattle, but we come to Leavenworth very often and this cafe is very close by! Our almost 9 year old needed a restroom and we couldn't find a business with restrooms until we tried Take a Break Cafe. I wanted to be a paying customer in return so ordered a milkshake and a soda to go.... wasn't expecting much just wanted to respect the "restrooms for customers" sign...... honestly I gotta say it's one of the best chocolate milkshakes I've had, we shared it in the car. In town for the Wenatchee River Bluegrass Festival, a friend who lives there recommended this for our early morning breakfast. Having traveled around the state to several such festivals, and eating at the local breakfast place everywhere, this is my favorite spot so far.
