Showed up at 7:38 looking for a quick bite and saw a heavy set guy with black hair and a patchy beard on his phone with the windows closed. We were turned away at not even 7:40 from staff that were just sitting on their phone... ended up grabbing food from the nearby gas station and saw several other cars also get turned away before it was even 8. Mary and I stopped in for lunch today, this place has the look and feel of an Iconic burger joint. We ordered regular cheese burgers, onion rings and a soft drink. The bun on the burger was lightly toasted, soft and fresh, the lettuce crunch, cheese was melting on a hot burger, tasty sauce. Great diner on the way to where you're going. The meat are seasoned to perfection and the milk shakes are thicker than your grandmas grits.. stop by, they're real joes . We ordered the Rusty burger and fries. The burger is not as flavorful as some but more flavorsome than others. This local favorite will not leave you wanting for more as it is packed with plenty of meat and fixings. As with most burger places they could have a much better product by just adding a shake or two of a pepper or spice blend to the meat after cooking. Maybe we should all start bringing our own. DO NOT COME HERE!!! really great food but the service is the worst I have EVER seen. just this evening I was waiting at the window for over 10 minutes just to order or be greeted, I made eye contact and waved mutable times and he knew I was there and looked at me. the "bigger" guy with long greasy hair came over yelled "we are busy right now" and slammed the window in and my wife's face and there was LITERALLY 1 other car there just 1. this is not the first time I have had this happen to me, the last time I went with my wife we ordered and we were the ONLY PEOPLE there and awaited for over 35 MINUTES for ONE singular ice cream we had to knock on the door repeatedly for about 10 minutes straight to get his attention while he was sitting there playing on his phone and then told me he forgot us after taking my order and my money while we were THE ONLY PEOPLE THRE!!! -10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!! this place would be absolutely amazing if they had a half decent human working there. read more

After a Veterans Day walking through Cashmere, exploring Pybus Public Market in Wenatchee, and driving through the Wenatchee Valley area my aunt, my uncle, and I came to Rusty's Drive-In for lunch. We each got a large soft serve swirl (vanilla and chocolate) ice cream. They were even offering a discount for Veterans, so we got a deal on the ice cream since my uncle is a Veteran (United States Marine Corps). We chose to take the drive-thru to place our order. The ordering was quick and the wait brief. The worker we interacted with was kind and we got our ice cream and headed to a nearby parking lot to park the car and people watch as we ate the ice cream. Normally I do not find ice cream filling enough to be a meal. But I have a soft spot for soft serve ice cream and the servings were a lot. By the end of eating my bowl of ice cream my belly was full and happy. Flavor wise, neither the vanilla nor the chocolate were overpowering. The ice cream itself was smooth and not watery/icy as some soft serve ice cream can be. Fun place to stop for ice cream near my aunt and uncle's place in Cashmere. read more

Every year we head over the mountains in the summer to go camping, and every year, we stop at Rustys. My go to growing up we're the pizza pockets. Me and all my cousins all got the same thing, and we loved it. Now, as adults, we get the junior rusty burger.... and a pizza pocket to go. Haha. My teen decided to get the four patty burger this summer and it was massive! But, he wanted to give it a shot. Also worth mention are the Mac and cheese nuggets. I love them! The kids love them! Finish it off with a root beer shake! You will have a wait, especially on summer weekends. You will wait an hour for your food. So, go to the back lawn and find a table and enjoy the shade. Most of the staff are local teens, so they can be hit or miss with attitude, but it's never anything terrible. Rustys has been, and always will be our family camping staple. read more

This place use to be our favorite stop on the way to Lake Chelan. We stopped 7/4/2024 even though recent reviews stated perhaps new ownership and decline in food. We still wanted to give it a try since it was tradition for us. The hamburger was not even brown, @cooked looking" , it was more of grayish in color and was not even warm. Blah Gross The rest of the burger was fine, little bacon though, nothing like years past so I would agree with other most recent reviews. The fries were just fine, nice & hot and crispy. Last two times have gotten our order wrong or missing items. Ordered a delux dbl meat dbl cheese and got one meat patty with it. The taste of the food is good overall, fries are good as well as onion rings. Also ordered a regular hamburger meal and it was missing from our order, the girl said that they had it on the order but they did not charge me for it so they ended up charging me twice bc she swore they did not charge me for it only went through with it bc my kid was already hungry and everyone else had already got their food. Probably won't stop here again anymore. Also said hi to the drive thru guy 2 times and he did not greet back just kept a straight blank stare waiting for me to order, that's pretty rude. DO NOT COME HERE! I went this afternoon (1/4/21) to order three burgers, a Jr, rusty, and jumbo. I opened the bag and realized they messed up the jumbo missing two patties, nothing big. I gave them my receipt and then the cook with the nose piercing decides to come out front and call me a liar and say she had prepared one with "3 or 4 patties" when the burger I ordered definitely supposed to have four. All this time I showed her nothing but respect and then she just went to prepare it and came back and basically threw it at me and slammed the drive through window. I have the dash cam footage of my talking to other employees before she showed up if there is any proof needed. Definitely won't be coming back. read more

It's a super small restaurant meant for drive thru and dining outside in the designated picnic area. I wouldn't say the best burger I've had, patty is on the skinny and small side but food here does the trick after a long day of driving and exploring this area. They do have gluten free bun option - which was not expected but greatly appreciated. I believe there is only 1 cashier so they will change from drive thru to walk ups so it might take a minute to get your food. For two burger combs you're going to pay for about $30 for each and remember it's just a drive thru. They do have a outdoor picnic seating area but, for a fast food restaurant this is the price was the only disappointment. One more then is was ordering from only one side. Pretty good! If you have ever been to Gorms in Kent, WA (no longer there-RIP), the burger tasted about the same... AMAZING! My husband and I shared a Rusty's double cheese burgers, small fries and small onion rings. The burger was DELICIOUS! I would forget the fries and onion rings.... fries are similar to Burger King fries (which I like but I would rather have more burger then waste calories are fries). Onion rings were not impressive at all, don't waste your waistline :) I did not get a shake, but I hear they are good! Prices are average, good portion sizes for what you get. I would like to try the BIG Rusty Burger (or whatever it's called)... 4 pattyies, 4 cheese, and the works (lettuce, onion, sauce- 1000 island... typical). I don't know, and I don't care what they put in the Rusty's Sauce, but it's dang addictive! If you order a Rusty Burger it comes with it, but ask for a couple sides of the sauce to dip your o-rings in. Now I've been eating at Rusty's for the past 14 years and I will admit either I'm getting tired of it, or the food is not what it used to. However I still to this day stop on occasion to enjoy a burger, o-ring, and shake. What do I like. When traveling to/from Eastern WA along HWY 2 the Rusty's is very easy to access. There is a gas station next door, so you can combine two stops on your trip. There is a private park behind Rusty's that has a dozen picnic tables, grass, and plenty of tree shade from the hot summer sun. What I don't like. The prices have always been high, a burger, o-rings, and shake will run you $13-14. Given location, fact they hire mostly local HS students at min wage, I can't see the money. During the summer months, especially on weekends, the wait for food can easily run 30-60 mins. This is the downside for such a convenient and easy to spot location along HWY 2. There is only a single bathroom, and it's always busy. The "new" numbering system. I'm ol' school Rusty's and like the old system where they called you by name when order is ready. My friend and I were on a road trip and he was talking about Rusty Burgers and that they had great burgers. When we got to Rustys we ordered two of their world famous all beef burgers . Just like their sign above the burger shack says . What we got was to burgers that came with two non beef cardboard thin and Taste. Kale not lettuce. Onion rings that were over cooked and crunchy like a dog treat. We threw the garbage burgers and the onion rings into the trash. Walked next door to the Mimi mart and bought lunch there. We were talking to the mini mart employee and they told us that the food at Rustys went down hill after they sold to new owners. This is not the Old Rustys Burger shack that had great food. Food quality is going downhill, I can't order a burger without some polical drama from the cashier, and they replaced the bathroom with two portable-johns that haven't been cleaned in what looks like weeks.
