My fave burger drive-in! We stop there every time we are driving back from Chelan or Wenatchee. So yummy!

I had to create a yelp account because I just had the weirdest experience at the drive thru. When I pulled up to the window, no body was there for about 5 minutes until a dude with a GREEN BEARD approach to the window and takes our order. He was pretty weird. I was trying to just get a burger and a shake but this man just kept flirting with me. He also has a staring Problem. Atleast he gave my meal for free. read more

It's been a while since I've visited Rusty's in Cashmere. Since I just moved to town I thought I'd give it a try again. For just under $10, I got a deluxe cheeseburger, small fries, and a tartar. A little pricey but thought it would be worth it. I was wrong. One would think at 2:30 in the afternoon they would make me some fresh fries, especially given that the sign at the order window asks you for patience because everything is made-to-order. Cold, stale tasting french fries. No salt to the fries and none in the bag. Deluxe cheeseburger was ok but lacked some basic salt to the burger, had an overabundance of chopped lettuce and looked like it was thrown together during a weekend lunch rush. I've raved to my family that we would go here but after today's awful lunch we will find an alternative. Sorry Rusty's, you were a disappointment today. read more

While the iconic Rusty Burger of yesteryear earned its well-deserved fame for exceptional taste, our present-day experience fails to live up to those standards. Regrettably, the food and service leave much to be desired, and the ambiance lacks the charm that once made it renowned. Additionally, the misleading hours add to the overall disappointment. We had lunch there today........the girl that took our order had 1 1/2 inch dirty finger nails.....is that even allowed by the Health Dept.? When our order was ready we went to the picnic area that had knee high weeds, and unmowed grass around all the tables. Another young guy that was working the window at Rusty's (tall, dark hair wearing a baseball cap & teal t-shirt with autographs all over it) came out & joined 3 of his friends that were drinking tall canned beer......and he proceeded to smoke pot with them, while we ate our food! No wonder the food was poor quality & terribly prepared!!! The fries were a soggy, greasy blob////the burger was just blah, in a flat bun......and the "milkshakes" were the worst! They were foamy, sugary, overly syruped fake tasting goop! The "World Famous" sign out front is a laugh......we will never go back! Ok this is our usual "go to" spot when traveling anywhere near here.. but today.. 10/7/21 there was a sign on window that said "on break be back shortly"?? Shortly?? How about posting a time you'll be back? Like closed from 1-2 for lunch? The gentleman ahead of us had been waiting for 10 minutes we waited about 7 minutes more and decided to leave, there were 4 cars behind me that I helped back out and all 5 vehicles left.. not good. read more

Perfect stop for burgers and fries! I found Rusty's to be so nostalgic. It reminded me of the tasty freeze I used to go to with my Grandparents as a kid. The Rusty burgers were so good! Loved the fresh buns, perfect amount of condiments and the nicely seasoned burger. I only take one star off because the soda was quite flat. The speed of service is a massive issue. Food is piling up from the cook so not only is it taking forever to get the food, but it is cold when you get it and the shakes are melted. read more

Rusty's is a classic. A must-stop on your way to Wenatchee. No indoor seating but plenty of picnic tables and a covered large picnic area across the parking lot. It's on the $$$ side and takes time for your order ..... but oh so good! Lots of memories of stopping here over the last 30 years. Get a shake! read more

Used to be good, has gone down hill. The wait times were long but our group used to want to stop at Rusty's regardless to get the large burgers. Over the past few years the wait times have increased to ridiculous levels. 3 orders were messed up today and over half hour wait times for simple orders. Sometimes the shake machine is working, sometimes it isn't. Most of the time it isn't though, but the 59 Diner across the street makes great shakes and didn't take as long. The restroom was one room that was barely stocked, and due to the crowds they added port-o-potties a few years back. That's how classy you should expect your experience to be. The food is not worth the wait. There are many alternative restaurants nearby worth your time, your money and your dignity. Rusty's no longer deserves any of those three. read more

My friends always want to stop here on our way back to Seattle from Chelan... I mean the burgers are tasty, but it's not really worth making a pit stop every year. I had the Jr. Rusty Burger and that was pretty tasty, I like the toasted buns, but it definitely seemed a little pricy for what it was. I was surprised that the regular Rusty Burger was only $0.50 more with the double patty and cheese. The onion rings are OK, just super greasy. I really enjoyed the fries though! They were crispy and very addicting. However, their ketchup packets are TINY! I wish they could pack in more ketchup so we didn't have to open so many. The Rusty sauce was OK... I think I still prefer regular tartar sauce. I do like the open seating benches in the front of the kiosk and in the back in the shade. Parking is super awkward especially when there are cars driving in the drive-thru lane. They do have a bathroom stall which is pretty clean, and convenient so we don't have to go across to the gas station. Do prepare to wait a 10-30 minutes for your order though! read more

It doesn't look like much and there is no indoor restaurant seating but the food is incredible. They make everything fresh to order and it does take a few minutes. I had the fish burger or "fishwich" but asked for "the fixings" including tomatoes and lettuce (not included) and it was absolutely worth it. My family members had the "Rusty burger" and "deluxe burger" and the Rusty burger was amazing while the deluxe was slightly worse. The onion rings are so amazing too (and tater tots are great). Delicious! I love to try out the local joints and when I saw the crowd gathering here, I knew I needed to try it. I'm so glad I did. although it's more than I like to pay, it was absolutely delicious. $5.50 for a Rusty burger and $3.75 for onion rings. The onion rings were crispy and tasty and the burger was packed with flavor....i will definitely go back. Have been stoping at Rustys for years on the way to Chelan, it has always been a must stop- but the last few times may be changing my mind. Giving it 3 stars because I know it's past and how good it used to be! First-the bathroom situation is BS- I can see why they decided to change it to employees only but honestly it's bad business, sending guests to use a portapotty in 100+ degrees is horrifying, Second-the quality of food has diminished over the years which is sad, corn dogs used to be homemade-I can tell not anymore, forsure store bought and just fried to order, onion rings were way greasy and hard as rocks. Will prob try a time or 2 again but if it continues in the direction its heading may skip and try some other joints along the way! read more

Me and my mom stopped here after going to the local high school to donate blood. We ordered 2 burgers, an order of onion rings, and 2 chocolate malts. First, the total for our 5 items was nearly $30, which is a little on the spendy side, but not too much more than other local hamburger stands. The issue we had was with our chocolate malts. It was literally THE WORST milkshake I have ever had. The entire thing was not properly mixed and there were chunks of malt power and giant glops of chocolate sauce. Ordered 2 jr. rusty's, waited 10 to 15 minutes. It was a little busy. The hamburger was COLD! The whole thing! Meat, Bun, cheese, the tiny strip of bacon. There was plenty of sauce, lettuce, pickles and tomatoes. Cheese was not melted. It was a sad hamburger! The onion rings were over cooked and just warm. Little retro place right of 2. There is a gas station right next to it. The food is made to order so the wait was almost 25 min in the drive thru for 3 shakes and a small fry with one car in front. The shakes are really good. If your not in a hurry you should stop here if for nothing else the shakes. read more

We've hit Rustys for years on our annual trip east. We've accepted the pricy menu and extreme wait times because the food is so damn good. But clearly they only see customers as a debit card. They do not care about us. First hint was the stingy ketchup stance- eack packet is a battle. But the bathroom situation is the real problem. Last year they locked up the facilities and kicked customers to a nasty old porta potty. Even though it is unusable- the rusty crew will not unlock their bathrooms for customer use. Instead they will cheerfully take your $50 for burgers and fries for (4) and will direct you to the gas station next door to pee. Thats just bad business. Take care of your customer and your customer will take care of you. We wont be back. read more

This place has the worst ever call in service. I have called for orders to go many times and either nobody answers or somebody answers and they hang up on me. I'm not sure if this is a product of not having enough staff or the staff just doesn't like taking to go orders which Would be silly cuz the only orders they take are to go orders! Wow...what a disappointment. For all the people going in one would think that the food was outstanding...but no (I think they were just the only place opened). Had the Bacon Cheeseburger (wife had the hamburger) and we split some onion rings. Positives: 1) Was nice outside! 2) Outside seating 3) Made-to-order food Negatives 1) Tables were filthy 2) OVER-PRICED food 3) SLOW service 4) For being "made-to-order" food...one would think that the food was hot! This place is so painfully inefficient that it overrides any desire to stop there ever again. This was my first visit here. The burgers are decent, but it took them 10 minutes to take orders from three people in front of me. Then it took another 15-20 minutes to get the burgers. The sign taped to the window says it could take up to 30 minutes. There was also a undated and what looked to be older sign saying that their shake machine was broken, but that they could still make shakes, but it would take longer. There is no "quick stop" here. It really wasn't very crowded on the Monday (today) that I ate there. If you see more than four people in front of you...RUN AWAY! Orders are written down by hand, then the counter person closes the order window, stares at the ticket, starts writing prices, then goes to the one cash register to add it up, then opens a window, tells you the total, then you pay. Oh, the ONLY cash register is in front of the ONLY walkup-pickup window, so someone paying is blocking pickups as they are called out over a loudspeaker. . Oh, and after my number was called, an old lady customer, seeing the pickup window, tried to confirm a request made on a previous order. The dialogue took two minutes which ended in the employees saying, "I don't know what I can do." My food is getting cold and there is no where I can go to get it....ARRRGH! Last thing, most burger joints make a point of describing the size of their beef patties so customers know whether to order a single, double or in Rusty's case, their super-sized four-patty burger. Their signage says nothing about how big their patties are. When I asked, the employee just shrugged her shoulders and said, "I don't know, their just, like, regular patties." I think they need to at least know this, or better yet, post it on their sign. read more

On our way home from a long weekend of sun and Chelan adventures, we decided to stop at Rusty's for an early dinner as my husband had been there over a dozen times and said it was a guaranteed good eat. Not this time. We both ordered the Rusty Jr. with some fries and ketchup, and a couple milkshakes. After waiting in the 90 degree heat for more than half an hour with rumbling tummies, we pounced on our meal only to find that - the bun was stale and crumby - the burger was a blackened, dry, tough, shriveled patty no thicker than a nickel - there was no ketchup to be found for the so-so fries. If it weren't for the loads of condiments masking the dryness of the burger, it wouldn't have been edible at all. Normally I'd send this kind of meal back and ask for another, but there was no way in hell I was waiting another 35 minutes for a crappy burger in that heat. What was especially irritating was that we noticed the people in the drive-thru were getting their meals quick as lightning. So are the people waiting outside just put on the back burner/not as important as the drive-thru customers? Cuz no offense, but we were pretty freaking hungry, too. I understand it's a mom-and-pop establishment, but Rusty's REALLY needs to learn how to deal with high volume service more efficiently, especially during peak seasons. Unfortunately for them, this was my first and LAST Rusty's experience, and I don't even feel bad saying that you're better off making a stop at McDonald's. We typically stop at Rusty's on our way to our cabin. This trip we stopped and although open there was a sign posted on window saying the staff was on a break due to labour shortage and would be back soon. there was no indication when the staff member would return. After 15 minutes the staff member came to the window and quite rudely informed us he was still on break. When we asked when his break was over he said he didnt know. I then repeated the question asking why he didn't know and he responded "sorry I'm not the manager". It was unbelievable. we won't be returning. read more

When I was a kid, road trips and camping trips with the family meant stopping at greasy little drive-ins and eating burgers, onion rings, and shakes on the way to and back from our location. From then on, every time I get in the car and start heading east, I'm craving a good old fashioned drive-in burger, full of grease and calories and trans fats. Mm mmm! I've tried just about every drive-in on Highway 2, but this past summer on the way out to Wenatchee, a friend of mine suggested that the boyfriend and I try Rusty's. He swore by Rusty's, and said I wouldn't be disappointed. So we turned off in Cashmere to see what it was all about. First off, it's a LONG wait for your food. I was astounded at the amount of people going through the drive-thru just to wait that long for food. At that point, you might as well get your butt out of the car and soak up some sun while you wait. Both the wait and eating would have been more enjoyable if there weren't so many huge, nasty flies everywhere. I mean, EVERYWHERE. We could not get away from the flies unless we ate in our car. Maybe that's why people chose to go through the drive-thru, after all. The burgers were alright, and the onion rings were good, but it probably wouldn't be my first choice, simply based on the fact I don't want to think about giant horseflies in my food. read more

This is gem on your drive to central Washington. My family has stopped here for years on our way to and from Chelan. I think what makes it so special is that it's greasy, drive up or picnic, and exactly what you expect. Their fries are really good, if you want to share go Jumbo size. I love their tarter, definitely recommend that with the fries. Their Rusty Burger is a great size and delicious. Milkshakes are always a classic as well. The best part, they're open all year round (yay!). read more
