We arrived at 12:15 and upon realizing they were serving lunch we asked if we could still get breakfast. The waitress asked the chef and thankfully they accommodated our request! We had the breakfast burrito and french toast with a cup of fruit! It was delicious. The restaurant has a mountainy vibe which we loved. Went here for dinner and ended up really really liking it! They were able to seat us immediately, they had a fire for each table in the middle. All of the staff was really nice and friendly. And all of the food and drinks we got were also pretty good and better than I expected. The squash was very curry tasting and it was good. The fettucine Alfredo was very creamy and filling and the bread on the side was very good and the shoyu chicken was good and saucy and the Mac salad on the side was good too. I thought that maybe their rice didn't have enough water and wasn't very fluffy but it was all still really good. Would def go back if I was in the area! read more

We stopped here for a lunch on a trip to visit Roslyn. The atmosphere is a country pub, very comfortable and has an outdoor patio. The food here was great, the firehouse burger was particularly tasty, and the shoestring fries were crispy and not soggy. Yes, seventy dollars. For self-serve diner food in a small-town bar. I didn't think to ask about the price beforehand--my mistake--but honestly, I never would have imagined in a million years that a place like this would slap on fine-dining prices for a breakfast buffet that wouldn't pass muster at a truck stop. It's one thing to have limited offerings, but to pair that with an outrageous price tag feels like a slap in the face. There's no atmosphere, no service beyond clearing plates, and certainly no justification for that kind of pricing. It left a bad taste in more ways than one. Food was really good - had pappardelle with salmon, burgers, garlic fettuccini w chicken, calamari, and the French bread (this was fantastic). The wait just to get seated (there was no line) was 10-15 minutes. The wait for food was 1.5 hours. The cafe is surrounded by some outspoken (and lewd) Republicans. Had reservations for eight at 6 PM on a Sunday night and we were seated immediately at a table comfortable for a large group. Drinks and salads arrived timely. However, after salad plates were removed it took approximately 45 minutes to an hour before our dinner was served. During that time waters were not refilled and no one asked about additional drinks. When food finally arrived everyone had generous portions, but was overall bland. The staff was friendly and put forth good effort, but lacked a fine dining experience that should accompany the price. I am gluten free and am sick of eating burgers with no buns and salads. The Coal Chute Cafe has a DEDICATED GLUTEN FREE FRYER!!!!!! Gluten free friends, you have to come visit. They have lots of other options but let me order the kids chicken strips & fries. All gluten free!!! I just about cried of happiness. My husband had the half prime rib dip & chowder & my son loved his quesadilla. Service was excellent as well - they checked in regularly and were very kind. We will be back! read more

What a fun and wonderful place to hang out, perched above the lovely town of Rosalyn in a lofty cabin-like porch. I've been there for lunch and dinner -- I'm convinced there's not one bad thing on their menu. I'm especially fond of their crab cakes and ALL the baked goods. Pricy, mediocre food/selection. I was with family, not really picky eaters and definitely "half glass full" kinda people, no one was happy about their food. My m.i.l did like her jalapeño cocktail, think it was a twist on a Moscow mule or margarita? Pricy. Poor service (and they were slow). However the couple dining in the corner were getting royal treatment when we weren't checked up on until our check was brought. No water refills. Ample parking, but all gravel. Doesn't seem to be kid friendly. Dark ambiance and slow service. Overpriced to boot. Always looking for local spots to support, but save your time and money. They charge a 20% gratuity for parties of six and then 4% charge for credit or debit card. Cute family restaurant in the coal mining town of Roslyn! The decor gave off a comfy wood cabin type of feel with a propane tank lit fire at our table. The food was good and the service was great. I had the bacon cheeseburger with delicious truffle fries. My friend got the Cesar salad with chicken and said the dressing was a bit fishy tasting. Another friend got the halibut with sweet potato fries and enjoyed it. My old fashioned cocktail was decent. Their baked goods were delicious as well. Came here for dinner on a Thursday and there were plenty of tables. The inside was very cute! You could order dessert to go from a chilled cabinet (they had cheesecakes, cake, and massive cookies) or you could eat in. We choose to eat inside. I ordered the Brussels sprouts and my friend ordered the pork buns and a Caesar salad. Everything was delicious! We also ordered a small cheesecake to go. If you're not careful, you'll drive right by this place as it's on the side of the road and very unassuming other than the beautiful array of flowers in the summer and an old coal mining car! Any place with homemade corned beef sounds fun and this place didn't disappoint. We came in for lunch and had the aforementioned corned beef on rye with sauerkraut and Russian dressing. For a couple bucks extra, you can get a cheese fry but it is made with truffle oil and was okay. If it was piping hot it probably would have been outstanding. This is kind of a 4.5 star review because of it. They also serve breakfast and I'm fairly certain dinner. The bathrooms are super fun. The sinks are in a slab of old tree trunk that's been lacquered over and immaculately clean. The place also sells ice cream and little desserts. Real fun staff. The place is such a local hangout that are friends that live in cle elum. We happen to run into them on our way out. Plenty of parking on the side of the place in the gravel. read more

This place was surprisingly good. I did not expect the selection they offered on the menu. We got fall mules which were amazing. The appetizers were the star of the show to be honest. I wouldnt even think about getting the pasta or the sandwich of the day. They didnt taste as amazing as the appetizers. We got the brussel sprouts & the pork buns for the apps. The food is easily 5 stars, deducting one from the review because it took just over an hour to arrive. Chef might be lacking assistance in the kitchen as skill is definitely present. The dish I had, lengua (beef tongue) tacos. If you see it on the menu, order it. Lengua is a tough dish to make and get it right. This lengua was perfectly executed, so tender. The tomatillo sauce it was served with was also excellently balanced with subtleties paid attention to in the preparation. The tortilla was lightly roasted, another sign of attention to detail. The prime example of what a chef special dish should be, one that the chef can make flawlessly and this was it. The ahi tuna my husband had was also well prepared and presented, especially for a restaurant not focusing on Asian flare. Recommended. read more

This place is absolutely fantastic! I had an absolute wonderful time here! I originally came to check out the food as they are catering my mom's 50th! Everything was delicious!
