Ellensburg felt like a normal country town, surrounded by hay fields and providing services to their population, not just tourists. However, it never felt like a normal country town because the snow-capped peaks in the distance show that it is still a draw for outdoor recreation. Whipsaw has a nice outdoor patio with plenty of seating. There are vines and bushes encircling the patio, adding just enough greenery to shield the view of the industrial area and road. Trees shade most of the seats. We tried three small samples, one of them being Craig's Cream Ale. Whenever I see a beer with my name on it, I always get it, meaning I'm one for one in selecting Craig's Ales.

How cool is that?! They're also very kind and dog friendly. The beer is awesome and have many different options, including IPAs, but also stout and heavier stuff they're well known for. The best of all is the friendly people you'll find here. My beertender was Casey and she couldn't have been more welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. We will definitely return.

But I saw the beer here that I wasn't familiar with. It was their Mexican Cocoa Death. This was a nice, dark ale with a chocolate presence and spices I enjoy like vanilla, cinnamon and allspice and then to give it a touch of heat some pasilla peppers. All those flavor characteristics stood out quite nicely and I got a freshly rekindled appreciation for Iron Horse because I do love beers and ales like this. I look forward to having more rounds with this beer!
