    Runaway Mule

Amazing food, amazing drinks (Runaway Mule is the bomb) and amazing atmosphere. We had the tater kegs and sliced brats. The cheese sauce was out of this world and the horseradish dip went very well with the tater kegs. Our server, Adam, was spot on and extremely friendly. Highly recommend making a point to stop in and give it a try. We will be back for sure.

We stopped in at Coal Mountain on our way to the eastern part of the state. Staff was friendly, professional and fast. The bar was family friendly. Food was OK. Hubby's chicken club was good. The Philly cheesesteak had a cheese that was similar to Velveeta. Staff was great.

Camera here for lunch with some friends and had a good time. Was visiting in town and saw this nice place we wanted to try. I got the classic burger with fries and tater keg appetizer. It was really good and made fresh. They also have various drinks and beer on tap. Service was great and a nice vibe to the pub ambiance. Overall a good place to come hang out and get some food!

Cool new updates to the inside and menu at old caboose!

Excellent new sports bar gastropub in the old Caboose spot. New owners opened the new Coal Mountain Caboose with a complete furniture and menu upgrade! The wood tables were a cool addition here and many t.vs are there if you need to catch a game score. We just were about the pub grub after a long weekend of skiing! There is a full service dining with a full bar and many great draft beers on tap. My hubby and I loved our lunch. His burger was done perfectly, he had to try the tater kegs and they are worth the hype, def better than normal tots. Totally tasty esp if you order the fry sauce! I had the fish and very good house cut fries, my fav style of fry. I really loved the crispy breading on the cod and the fact they did not skimp, it was a good portion! Also, I can't speak highly enough of the house made condiments. (I am a condiment freak) The tarter sauce was really creamy and tiny pickles of love, pretty sure it was the dill ones, so a way better flavor than when some over sweet relishes are in the sauce, whatever it was it was tasty! Also, the fry sauce was on point, you can just tell its house made, something extra, no sauces left behind! I did not mind the old reg caboose, fun dive bar and all but times call for a refresh and now it is like the new owners have a fun bar which is still there but the food is much better and over all refreshed reimagined space. We had great service and will make this stop again when driving on the I-90 to and from adventures. Whoo Whoo don't miss this trains caboose! Cheers!

Dropped in for lunch while in town for work & checked out new sports bar in Cle Elum. They have an awesome selection of beers on tap & TV's to watch the games. I ordered the basic bacon cheeseburger ketchup only with fries. The burger was great. Would defiantly order again. Really enjoyed the hand cut fries. They also have a huge selection on IPA's on tap & I couldn't leave without a fresh J-Box or 2. If for whatever reason your travels brings you near Cle Elum, Wa I suggest you take the exit and check out Coal Mountain Caboose.

From the stunning views over the valley below, to the tasty cocktails, to the wonderful eats it was a great way to chillax on a lovely Saturday evening. Having had a not-great experience with wine (at a different venue) earlier in the day, we opted for cocktails here. My extra dirty martini with cheese-stuffed olives was phenomenal, and my friend enjoyed her old fashioned. We shared a roasted beet and burrata salad as an appy, then moved on to our main courses - I got the prime tenderloin and she got the cider glazed pork. We washed it all down with a couple of chocolate espresso martinis for dessert. My tenderloin was cooked to perfection, and accompanied by some sweet little roasted carrots and a lovely heap of mashed potatoes. My friend reported that her pork was more like a stew, and she really enjoyed it. What really put our experience here over the top was the absolutely amazing service we received, especially from our waiter, Trevor. He was friendly, funny, and helped us navigate the menu when we couldn't decide what to get. He also told us a little about the geological history of the area, which is built over an old coal mine. This place wasn't cheap, but for a fun night out of splurging, it was perfect!

Sadly, many of them have moved on. But some still remain, and encountering them again is exhilarating. I always look forward to the hugs and squealing laughter.--"...where did you go and what have you done...? We've missed you!" McGlinn's Alehouse is the place we spent most of our time for the first five years of our marriage. It was originally the Orondo Tavern, built in 1922 as a solid brick two-story commercial building in the small town rural American style--big, open storefront windows on the ground floor, and small offices and apartments on the second, with tiny windows surrounded in iron bar planters. Such buildings have long narrow internal staircases up the right side entrance--one you'd never access unless to lived in one of those vaults upstairs. I finally returned to McGlinn's tonight. I had been meaning to, long before this, but there was never any parking in front --many restaurants now have covered sidewalk-cabanas out front--a code violation waved during the COVID pandemic. Inside, the left wall is still that half-block-long cabinet of all the liquor bottles you can imagine, multiplied in depth by the mirrors behind them. Down the middle of the room is one long continuous table that seats 14 people on a side--yes, strangers sit together. At the very back wall there is still, the largest brick open-hearth wood-burning oven you'd ever bake a leg of lamb and two pizzas in, at the same time. And down the right side-wall were six wooden tables-of-four, all sealed in a hard resin clear coat, as shiny and clean as they were vintage and rustic. I sat in the first chair at the first table, my back to the stairway down to bathrooms in the basement below the sidewalk. I had the Pulled Pork Sandwich with Tim's chips, a departure from the "John Paul Bacon Burger with pickled onions (McGlinn's is famous for). Ask to sit in Sadie's section--she's been there 20 years. McGlinn's has been there 34 years! What's not to like about an old friend! -------== ##### ==-------
