House salad

During a trip to Leavenworth, Washington, we wanted to try traditional German food, and this restaurant came highly recommended. It did not disappoint. Located in the center of town, it offers plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with fire pits to keep you warm. The service was fantastic, and everyone was friendly and helpful. You order at the counter and the atmosphere is very casual, but the food was excellent. The bratwurst was delicious and the Nutella beignets were a must try. There was no live music the night we visited, but they advertise it on occasion. If you want an authentic and enjoyable German dining experience, this is a great place to visit.

This place was so good! We got a pretzel and that was really good as well as both of the hot dogs! Love that they had a veggie option and it was good. The snowsa drink was also really good! Service was really fast and friendly. Beautiful views and really warm sitting outside with the heaters.

Came here while visiting the area with some girlfriends as this place is well known for their giant pretzel. It was a hot day so it was nice that the seating area outside had mists of water being sprayed. I will say the guy at the table next to ours was getting drenched by it, but ours was working fine so it was refreshing! The table was a picnic style table so the place is great for groups (there were 7 of us). Even better, it's a fast casual restaurant so you order and pay at the counter before you get your food which helps with one less bill to split among a group. To drink I ordered the Sage Hills drink. To eat I ordered The Classic with no bun and the side salad. As a group we shared the giant pretzel. The food came out fast and it was great! The side salad was better than expected and the pretzel was good with the cheese dip and then also the chocolate dip. The pretzel was soft and hot. The bratwurst I ordered was good, very filling surprisingly. The spicy peppers had a little kick but not too spicy, which I very much appreciate. The Sage Hills drink I ordered was delicious! Overall, we as a group, and I enjoyed this place. I would definitely come back if I was in the area again.

This place was recommended while visiting Levenworth. It was a beautiful day so we chose to dine outside under the umbrellas. You order by going up to the counter and then they bring it to the table. I got a Munich bratwurst plate with beer cheese and fries. The fries were yummy. The bratwurst was ok. Overall the meal was just ok, nothing memorable for me.

On my last review, I raved about their Cheese Frites. I've had it a couple of times since then and I'm sad to report that they were not as good as my first order. During my last visit, I also tried their schnitzel. It was quite good. I do wish that the meat was a little thicker and juicier. Service was great and our order did not take long.

First night in Leavenworth and wanted traditional German food. This is the place! Sat at the bar and enjoyed our meal.

Okay, got here earlier today and was able to enjoy some crispy hot moist chicken wings. The sauce was a sweet hot chili. This is a very relaxed environment and it is kid friendly as well. I'm thinking the bartender was thinking about my drink the 'Separator' overnight as he went right to it and made it spot on picture perfect today. The menu changes seasonally so be prepared for something new. As for now, I'm enjoying the libations and will order an additional batch of wings for the Mrs and I to enjoy back at our room.

THE CLASSIC ON BEEF FRANKFURTER
Czarina G.

Came here to say after strolling through Leavenworth, been here last time I was in the area but that was around 4 years ago. Still looks the same wood tables and style which feels pretty cozy. It's counter to table service, they sat us down and we ordered up at the bar. We wrote down everyone's food and showed the server, however he missed one of our orders which was my mom's and we had to wait a while for her food to come ): I was already almost done with my food and she had barely gotten hers. The server did not repeat the order so I think there was just some miscommunication. But the food was pretty good. I enjoyed my meal which was the classic on a beef frankfurter and fries. The wurst plates are pretty filling and tasty on its own. My husband got the munich with on a bratwurst with a salad (the salad was really good, dressing was tasty) the table comes with 3 types of mustard, I liked the sweet hot one. Also no one gave us utensils... I thought they provide that at least but we went up to go get them, all they provided was waters. Also, no one checked up on us regarding if we enjoyed our food or if we were missing anything. I thought the service was lacking except the person who delivered our food, he was the nicest out of all. Food was pretty good, service was okay which is why I'm giving it only 3 stars.

When in Leavenworth, have German food. On our recent summer golf trip we change up our dinner plans and ate at Rhein haus. It's a little more casual than some of the other restaurants in town. It's modified table service where you order at the bar and they later bring your food to the table. The quality of the food was good, and our party enjoyed the schnitzel, sausages, cabbage and cold beer. Atmosphere is casual and comfortable. We'd go again.

Schnitzel sandwich

My boyfriend and I eat here once or twice a month (we are locals.) my boyfriend LOVES the chicken bacon ranch sandwich, so much that he will not order anything else. I usually get the burger, schnitzel sandwich, or the salad. All have been excellent. Fast and amazing service! We often order take out, and wish they had the option to use a gift card online rather than coming in. That is our only complaint.

Giant Pretzel!
Sara Z.

Giant pretzel 10/10! Perfectly sufficient as a light lunch for two or a great appetizer for many. It was warm and the beer cheese was great. The staff was pretty friendly but there was a wait even though the tables were fairly empty and not much of a view of the mountains. Would totally go back for the pretzel if you want a great one in town though.

$20 Unknown sausage, $10 mini pretzel and $10 pump of syrup with cream
Kelley P.

We were really excited to try this place. It looked like a nice spot for dinner. The guy host that sat us tonight was rude and acted like he was too cool for school. I asked a question and he laughed and acted like I was an idiot for asking. The food is expensive for what it is. $10 for a tiny pretzel that you can get down the road for $5. We asked the guy if we can have two different flavors of syrups for our $10 Italian soda and he said yes. It came with only one of the flavors and tasted extremely watered down like they only put a half a pump of syrup. It was a very lightly flavored carbonated whipped cream water. We didn't know that you could choose the sausage for our "Seattle dog." It came with an extremely bland lighter sausage almost like a bockwurst. There was hardly any sauce and was very plane. The onions were basically raw as well. For $20 a plate you would think they would do it up a little better. Maybe they were just rushed and busy in the kitchen? It didn't seem that busy to us.

Habanero cheddar sausage on a bun with fries and sauerkraut (yum)

We decided to stop here one afternoon as our daughter really wanted a pretzel--and get a pretzel she DID! Haha! She decided to try the giant pretzel, and it was HUGE!! I had the habanero and cheddar sausage on a bun...O.M.G. Delicious! Not too spicy and a casing that had a really juicy SNAP to it when I bit into it--warn your friends who are sitting next to you! Haha! My husband had the curry wurst frites. Wonderful marriage of flavors! We'd come back for sure! Service was great, clean tables, and wonderful place to watch the people walking Leavenworth's Front St.

It can be a little hidden and difficult to find. You don't come across too many speakeasy breweries, although its not really hidden you just have to follow the signs. It seems to have expanded since my first visit years ago and now there is seating on both sides of the bar, which are accessed from separate entry ways. You can also now get your beer in a to go glass and take it outside to the patio if you are feeling a little claustrophobic. Perhaps it is the intimate space, but I always enjoy coming here because you can not help but get involved in conversation. This is not a place to come and have an intimate chat or if you want to ignore others. But it can be a great place to come to discuss what else there is to do nearby and hear about places that other people like. The people behind the bar are always helpful and contribute to the lively atmosphere. Thankfully I have never seen any kids here but I guess they are allowed. The fish and chips batters however were way too salty. I squint when I ate it. The hot apple cider is good tho, can't complain. The service were not great. We ordered a glass and chose the option to take the glass home (+10.50 more), they told us when we finish they can wash it out and wrap it for us. But when we brought the glass to them, they did not wash it, but instead just dump out the ice, give it a spray (not even proper wash off the greases!) and then called it proper. The flight was a little over $20, and we got five pours that were selected by the staff at the front desk. They chose great varieties -- a good mix of dry and sweet wines from different European countries, which made the tasting feel well-rounded. I liked that the staff brought the orders directly to the table instead of calling out numbers, especially since the place was pretty loud with all the commotion of people being seated. The layout was also nice: There is an upstairs and a downstairs, with upstairs set up for larger groups, and downstairs geared toward dates, or smaller parties of four or fewer. There is a clean bathroom, but it is located upstairs. Do not go downstairs to look for it because you will end up wandering toward the kitchen area lol We also got the schnitzel, which was uniquely hung -- something that I have not seen. It came with two different cheeses, and I really wish that had been labeled on the plate. Not a big issue, but I like to know exactly what I am eating. Meanwhile, the wine flights had a little written card on the side to specific which pour was what flavor. Despite all the negatives, they managed to make it even worse by taking forever to bring up the food. Not all at the same time either, but one item at a time and 10 mins in between each pretzel and pizzas after already waiting for half an hour for anything to arrive. Managed to screw up an order, too and when asked for another half of pizza to be boxed in so we can take it with us, they brought it to the table, not boxed and gave an attitude when we asked them to box it again for the second time. We were especially excited to order the Kohl Roulade (stuffed cabbage), since we had tried it at another nearby spot earlier on our trip and absolutely loved it. When we arrived, there was about a 15-minute wait for booths and tables, but we were seated right away at the high tops. We were already starving and had plans to catch the fireworks afterward, so that worked perfectly for us. Shortly after sitting down, we were served warm bread with both regular butter and garlic butter. The garlic butter paired with the warm, soft bread was to die for, honestly one of the highlights of the meal. We placed our order for the Kohl Roulade, and it came out in about 10 minutes. As soon as it arrived, I cut into the roll, made sure to smother it in the marinara sauce, and took my first bite...then my second...and my third. Overall, it was just okay. The meat wasn't quite as flavorful as what we had experienced elsewhere, which was a bit disappointing given how high our expectations were. The plate also came with red cabbage, sauerkraut, and fried potatoes. The red cabbage and potatoes were tasty, but the sauerkraut wasn't really for me though that's more of a personal preference since I'm not a big sauerkraut fan. We really wanted to love this dish, but it just didn't quite live up to what we were hoping for. That said, you can't win them all, right? The service was good and the staff were very friendly, which we appreciated. Would I come back? Maybe, but I'd definitely try a different dish next time.
