One of my favorite diners in Eastern Washington. Nestled inner sanctum of Roslyn you find this local haunt. Having dined on many occasions the menu has many changes which is fantastic for a foodie always needing a flavor change . Today my flavor factor is the fried chicken sandwich with a chipotle aioli and La French Fries. Lots of local wines , beers & cocktails to give you some euphoric relief from your day. Georgetown brewery compliments any meal plus a pint or tow of Manny's or Bodihizafa is refreshing if not intoxicating. The decor is a rustic cabin approach which instantly makes you feel like your home away from home. Keep in mind you may have to wait due to limited seating and overwhelming consumers waiting to dine. While headed to Spokane for a business trip, we decided to make a pit stop on Roslyn to check out the great food and the rich history. The Cafe is located next to the towns Historic Museum so there's lots to see before or after your meal. There was no wait for our 4-top in the late afternoon and we quickly got to studying the menu once seated. I decided to go with the Salmon Benedict while my peers had burgers and a BLT. After ordering we adored the restaurant decor and talked about work. Food arrived relatively quickly and we wasted no time digging in. The Benedict was very well made, not over sauced, and cooked well. The French onion salad dressing was epically good. I highly recommend. Overall the experience was great and service was decent. I would certainly come again and I will recommend to anyone passing through. read more

This place is really old and has a cool atmosphere. The service couldn't have been any slower and the food was just ok. We were sat at our table and waited for about 20 min to even get water and then it was easily another 20 min before our order was taken. We were seated in the front corner by the window and it seemed as though the rest of the restaurant received prompter service, so maybe just don't sit there. The server was nice but that didn't necessarily make the experience any better. I had the Biscuits and gravy and like I said, it was just ok. If you are visiting Roslyn and need to eat and this is the only place open, give it a try. read more

We popped in here this weekend, while visiting some friends in the area. They wanted lunch, I wanted breakfast. It was a great compromise. It seemed to be a pretty slow Saturday, midday, we got a table really quickly. It took a little bit to have a server come to our table, but they were very attentive once they got there. Of course we had to have the cauliflower dish again, it is one of the best dishes around. We also tried the tomato soup, it was pretty epic as well. I had the basic breakfast, which is always a solid choice. My buddy got the frittata, that came with a really nice salad. A nice brunch type dish. We're a bit disappointed, that the beer that was on the menu wasn't available, but the Plan B Option Beer, was pretty darn good. Cute and quirky decor, lots of local vibes. Great service even though they were slammed, middle tables are a little small (the two tops) and kind of awkward to dine at. Bloody Mary was okay and same with food. Big portions though and very much appreciated solid menu choices. My husband and I stopped in here for lunch on our anniversary trip. Super cute little cafe, and we were seated right away. We both ordered the cup of ham and bean soup, then shared the fried chicken sandwich with fries. The soups were yummy, if a little bland. We had to add quite a bit of salt and hot sauce. But it was hot and warmed us up from the rain. The chicken sandwich, on the other hand, was perfection chicken was perfectly fried, crispy and juicy. And the pickle was delicious. My only regret is that I had to share it with my husband. Definitely a great place and would come back if we are in the area again. read more

Service gals did their best on a very busy Sunday. The restaurant was short staffed and really should not have been open. All boils down to poor management. Many walk outs from long wait times 1.5 hours for food and frustrated customers, inadequate food orders etc.. Hopefully in the future if this a repeat performance with a shortage of staff, they won't open the doors until they have a full staff. The food we ordered was quite mediocre. Starting with the fish and chips, the cod was of good quality, but was unfortunately overcooked, not flaky and overly greasy. The fries were short, stubby, greasy and mostly soggy. The menu said they were triple-fried but I highly doubt that. The pickle was floppy, not crisp and lacked flavor as well. My wife's tuna melt looked good but she said there was entirely way too much mayonnaise in the tuna salad mix. Also, she used to be a server and her keen eye witnessed a server there rearranging someone's salad with their bare hands just before delivering it to their table. This was our first time in Roslyn and honestly, I kind of regret not going to Logan's, The Brick or Roslyn Mexican Grill instead. read more

Absolute gem. Was fiending for something like a chicken-fried steak, and the fried chicken and gravy here absolutely hit the spot. Gravy was on point, chicken was crispy outside and juicy inside. Partner got the lamb burger and if I'm being honest, burgers might be the way to go here. I peeked at another table and the fish and chips looked great too. Having been a fan of Roslyn Cafe's food for several years and having recommended this place to both family and friends it is disappointing to have to write this review. On Sunday, May 12 I stopped by around noon for lunch. A party of three were reading the menu posted in the restaurant's window contemplating whether to dine at this establishment. I told them how good the food is and that any choice they made would be a good one. The place was crowded with only a four-top available (I couldn't see if the booths were occupied). The party I spoke with decided to eat here and lined up behind me waiting for a table. I was told by the new hostess that the tables were reserved for parties of three or more people. I visit this establishment at least once a week and this was the first time I've heard of their minimum party size requirement. The party behind me whom I had spoken with volunteered to wait and they even extended an offer to join their threesome for lunch so we could all sit at the open table. Having been told that as a single diner I was not welcome I declined their generous offer and went elsewhere. The food I'm sure is still fantastic but unless you're in a party of three or more, I would not recommend this place. read more

From start to finish this was a frustrating experience. To start both of us received the wrong food, no harm no foul. But then they brought out only one dish about 15 min before the other replacement. Then the second replacement dish was nearly raw salmon with sushi consistency. After asking for it to be cooked further not once but twice to my mortification, it was still not cooked even medium and I asked for medium well. I had previously ordered pie and when I did not eat most of my meal but said I was done, they asked if I still wanted the pie. I said yes purely because the experience was going so poorly I assumed it was complementary given some of the waitress's other comments. It then came out cold with the strongest ginger taste I've ever had in a pie. I've never seen apple pie served cold. I didn't eat anything beyond the first bite of the pie and refused a take home box. They still charged both of us full prices on our meals including the pie after she had offered me a discount on the meal (but did not receive on check). To boot, the restaurant is very cold so I can't give it many makeup points for ambience. Enough that we put on jackets and were still cold. read more

We had spent the night in Cle Elum & we were looking for a spot to grab some breakfast & catch the game on TV...we remembered having popped into this cute spot another time so thought we would see if we could get in on a late Sunday morning. We scored a table & they had a tv over the counter with the game on! Yay!! Really unfortunate brunch here. The Bloody Mary lacked all flavor and seemed like an ingredient was missing, in addition to the dry brown celery stick. The fries on one plate were small crispy bits and on the other plate oddly white and soggy with way too much salt. The tuna melt came out as a single slice of bread cut in half, piled with canned tuna and a melted slice of Kraft singles. So odd. The server and owner were very nice, but food and drink were not good. Hopefully just caught them on a bad day. read more

Foraged mushroom omelette was tasty, frittata was sumptuous l, but absolutely swap for the crisp potatoes - the were the best I've ever had and worth a trip by themselves. Stopped in this quaint cafe for breakfast. Two of us had the Uncle John's Breakfast. Classic bacon, eggs, potatoes and toast. You can always judge cafes and diners by this classic standard. Roslyn Cafe was OUTSTANDING! Excellent ingredients, perfectly prepared to our liking. We all were very delighted by the homemade Strawberry preserves for our sourdough toast. The BOMB! The crunchy hand cut potatoes were also a treat! My wife had the most delicious BLTA sandwich. My brother in law had the Breakfast Sausage Omelet which he classified as "regular". I had just finished a long hike so I was primed to be please with any food consumed. I wanted to like this place because it is cute, I like Roslyn and the staff all seem great. But I didn't love the food Service: Great! The servers are warm, inviting and attentive. They bring great energy and they work hard. Possibly why I am giving 3 stars instead of 2. The servers work together to provide all the patrons with good service so you don't have to wait for only your person. I think it helps them be more efficient. Ambiance: Great! Cute cafe/diner feel. Clean throughout including the bathroom. Noise level was good with a full restaurant. Double stacked pastrami - $16 My friend ordered this and we both felt that we'd never seen such a thin Pastrami sandwich. It says it has 8oz - honestly I don't know, might be. I will say it seemed like a pretty steep price for what we got. To be fair the meat was good. Buttermilk fried chicken sandwich - $17 The batter was good - very crispy but not adding much to the flavor. The chicken didn't really taste marinated. In my personal opinion, it would be way better if they tenderize the meat more (or at all). Done properly, it would flatten out the sandwich and make it easier to eat, the meat would have absorbed some of the marinade and been more juicy (tender) and flavorful. French fries: these came on the side as part of an option between: salad, soup or fries. We both got the fries and are almost positive that they were double fried. At least most of them. They had the texture and flavor of fries that had turned cold and then reheated (imagine trying to recover leftover fries from the fridge). I know some people think they have hacked recovering previously fried potatoes but the Maillard reaction and what happens to the starches isn't really the same that second go around so it isn't the same. Fries can either be a awesome addition to the meal but it can also be a super disappointing one. These were disappointing and kind of cemented my already disappointing feelings about the meal. I might come back and see if things improve or try other dishes since the service is great - usually service on that level reflects awesome owners or managers (or both). If a friend asked me about this place I would probably just advise against these two dishes but definitely wouldn't discourage anyone from going at this point. read more

I tried their grilled quails and chicken liver cream and it was delicious. The grilled quails were tender and moist - cooked to perfection! Days later and I am still thinking about it!! An oasis of overcooked eggs served Luke warm .... I mean, everyone else's meals looked decent but not ours (I'm guessing Uncle John was not their favorite uncle) . As the other customers who came in after us got seated and ordered after us, ate and finished before we got our meals. I think they forgot about us and then our food was lukewarm at best. Toast was only cooked on one side, and the potatoes were meh; but the bacon and coffee were delicious. Probably won't go back. read more
