Was craving a milk shake on the drive home. Saw the Hot Rod Cafe an it looked like a place that would have milk shakes. The milk shakes were hand made from Cascade Creamery ice cream and they had about 20 flavors to choose from. While was there, the burgers looked good so I got a blown hemi. A really nice burger, I liked the leaf lettuce and slices of tomato. The meat was juicy and cooked to my liking. I didn't have any fry's, but they looked nice and crispy on other peoples plates. I still had 4 hours of driving so I didn't want to over load on food. The hot rod has really easy off and on to the highway. read more

Who puts pickles on a grilled onion grilled mushroom and Swiss burger? Nobody. Except for this place. Ruined my burger. Also the onions were not grilled they were still crunchy . Not completely raw but way undercooked. The fries are battered dipped Frozen purchased. A place like this should have good fresh fries. Place is dated and in need of a remodel. Old mismatched chairs and tables etc.. Coke signs and Coke memorabilia everywhere but they serve Pepsi : ( . $15.07 is absurd for the small Burger and small amount of fries I got. The "Hot Rod Cafe" is another sports themed hamburger hang-out. The walls are adorned with license plates, road signs, and gas station marquees. 50s furniture fills the dining hall. The interior is an open space, very casual, and decorated in a vintage motif. There's even room in the parking lot to work on your car, or wait for your other club members to arrive. If you're in shorts and flip-flops with a sun-visor hat, this is your kind of place. Ordering food isn't easy; all menu items are renamed as race car terms. It took awhile to figure out that a deluxe cheeseburger is a "Duramax". Nonetheless, selected food items are worthy of mention. The French-fries are delicious, a generous portion, and served with house-made dip (some combination of mayonnaise, catsup and bbq or smoke flavoring). And/or plenty of catsup is an alternative. The deluxe cheeseburgers are $7.95. They're stacked with all the garnishes you would want - lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickle, and that house sauce. The meat patties are restaurant-supply grade. They make weight, but the meat is not seasoned. So all the flavor comes from the garnishes and sauce. The burger was flavorful, but the cold plain bun out of the package should have been grilled, or at least heated. See the pics. Everything was good. 3-Stars is good, right? I came here a long time ago with my family on our way to/from someplace to the East. The food was solid, though oddly enough the corndog was the standout. I had been used to the fresh corndogs served at fairs, and this was not quite that, but still tasty. The burgers were the best of what any of us ordered. We found the ice cream to be a miss all around, just didn't meet the flavors of the rest of the food we had. Came across as a bit of a mismatch in product quality. Service was friendly though a little curt. More recently I tried coming here with my uncle and my aunt in August 2021 and we arrived to find a sign in the door communicating the restaurant was closed for two days due to labor shortages. Nice of them to post that at the entrance. I recently tried to go to a movie where the cinema randomly was closed, but its closure was not communicated anywhere online nor on the premises. So that Hot Rod Cafe communicated they were closed the day we came was much appreciated. read more

The food was delicious. The meat had just the right amount of juicy flavor. There fries were really good along with there fry sauce. I like that they give you the bigger 1oz cups of fry sauce and they don't charge you for any extra you may ask for. The ambiance was perfect there was just the right amount of memorabilia. They also have pretty good service. They got the food out quite quickly. I also loved that they are inclusive of everyone no matter what they look like as they had someone with down syndrome working there. This cafe has great diner food. We ordered fish and chips, chicken strips and fries and the Duramax burger. 1. The fish is some of the best I've had. 2. The fries were the best I've had. 3. The picky eater kids ate every single bite of their kids chicken strips and fries. 4. The Duramax burger was (per the person eating it) fantastic! The inside is a little spartan and there was no music, kind of quiet but really, who cares, the food was great. Also, price, very, very reasonable. I don't think anything was over $10. I've been going to this place since it was Tom, Dick and Harry's. The restaurant itself was a bit more interesting back then - more vintage memorabilia inside, and a broken jukebox. It's still a good place to go, and you get a LOT of food for the price! Doesn't hurt that there is always a pretty girl there to serve you. Not much to see in the town of Monitor, but the Hot Rod Cafe is worth the drive. read more

This is a 5 star small town burger place. I have driven by many times on weekends and seen hot rod meets there. I had the burnout and let me say the baked jalapeño skins and chipotle Mayo give it a kick. They now have waffle fries and they are thicc. Really good. Stopped in for milkshakes this afternoon. The girl helping us was not wearing a mask despite the state mandate. When I questioned her, she admitted that yes, she should be wearing one but was quick to add that none of the people working there wore them. Went to the Monitor Hot Rod Cafe while heading to Osoyoos on a trip "up north." Ordered a cheese burger, fries and onion rings. The cheeseburger was a 4 out of 10 - only because of the nice crunchiness provided by lettuce, tomatoes, onions and pickles (burger patty was small and not that great). The fries were super (8 out of 10) - likely out of a breaded frozen bag. The onion rings were great, too (8 out of 10). I would give the location for RVs (excellent) and the decor was fabulous (10 out of 10). Service was friendly and attentive. Wouldn't go back for the burger... Called ahead to make sure they were wearing masks and assured that they were. Showed up and observed social distancing and most everyone wearing masks (except if eating). Our food was typical fried fast food fare and was OK. A couple of the kitchen staff were messing with their masks, or pulling them down while cooking which made me uncomfortable. They were also allowing folks to refill their sodas which was against state timelines at the time. Also, some of the patrons weren't practicing the social distancing and it wasn't being encouraged. The decore is fun, all about autos and such enjoyable. Will consider going again if we're in the area depending on covid19 and all. read more

This was our second stop at the cafe. I have to say second one was more disappointing then the first. Advertise a hot rod get together on a Friday night and there is 4 cars!!! But what bothered me the most was the way the owner treated and thought of her customers. We met a older couple in Black T-Bird that were apparently regulars. As I was about to order inside a mentioned to the owner that they were the sweetest couple. Her response was "he is a cheap skate, never buys anything and she is a busy body and gossips to much. She would rather they did not even come out and take up space." Then she asked me what I wanted to order. I said nothing at that time we were leaving. If that is what they think of there regulars I do not want to patronize their business and we will not be back. read more

Went here today for lunch after reading the reviews here. The decor is definitely car related lol. Inside its spacious. You go to the front counter to order. Prices are great, 8 bucks for a double patty burger with bacon, ham, and cheese? c'mon! They give you a choice of wheat or white buns which is nice. I ordered the blown hemi minus pickles and tomatoes, and my girlfriend had the single patty burger, we both had fries but she chose the garlic fries. I will be getting the garlic fries next time their phenomenal. Their fries are hand / steel cut not ones from a freezer bag, their very crisp and flaky on the outside. They also season their fries. I hate eating fries where they don't even get a grain of salt added after cooking. We got there just after they open at 11:15, our food was ready in under 10 minutes, the place was almost empty. The lady who took our order was pleasant, and after my girlfriend was done eating she decided on some ice cream, and they gave it to her no charge, pretty cool. If I had one thing to critique it would be the burger patty, while tasty, it was a tad dry on the inside, I think someone may have gotten a tad mid-evil with the spatula LOL. We plan to be back in Wenatchee on the 2nd of December and will for sure be going back. If you are needing a tasty burger and fries you will be hard pressed to do better in the area. read more
