I wasn't sure what to expect because I'm a BBQ snob from Texas but love KC BBQ and currently live in AZ. We were greeted with a great first impression. When I asked what their BBQ flavor was like, I was told Northwest BBQ. She was right, not too sweet, not too smokey, not too spicy. I was pleasantly pleased. The portions are large. Pickles are excellent. French Fries are cooked perfectly. Cole slaw was good. Potato salad was ok. I think they're missing out by not having Mac n cheese. The customer service was outstanding, atmosphere was friendly and clean. The Arnold Palmer was made perfectly! We were passing through town and happy with our choice. Would definitely recommend Sweetwood BBQ!

Dry cornbread and chicken thighs (meh) it's baked NOT bbq

Found this bbq place on yelp and it has high reviews. So I decided to pick up bbq for dinner. Located within a plaza with a lot of parking spots. I ordered 2 chicken thighs with corn bread and a salad. This is NOT barbecue where they use a grill to cook their meat. It tastes more like baked chicken and toss it with bbq sauce over it. This is not what I expected and it is not good in any way. Corn bread was so dry, I took a bite and toss it all away. Caesar salad was the only good thing I ate. I won't be coming back here anytime soon if I'm in the area.

This "fast" casual BBQ spot is a gem! The staff are all very kind and attentive. You order at the counter and seat yourself at a table (flexible for different size parties) or at one of the 6 barstools. We got the two meat combo and tried both sticky and BBQ ribs, an order of brisket poutine and some lemonades. Delicious and kid approved! The burger and sandwiches all look enormous.

Well, to start this off, I have a huge bias of being from the south. And with that being said barbecue out west will never ever top southern barbecue . I originally came here for the Smashburger, but I figured out that they only run special so depending on what day it is, their menu changes except for your standard pool chicken, pulled barbecue . So today I had the French dip which was loaded with some green onions, green peppers, cheese on a hoagie bread. My wife had the pool chicken sandwich with sweet barbecue sauce . When I first bid into my hoagie, I was extremely disappointed and as I continue to chew and eat it, it started to resonate with me so I will give it a strong 7.2 /10. The meat is pretty tender, but I feel as if he could have more flavor and I'm not saying salty flavor, but it's a tad bland . While it does pair with the dipping sauce, I drove 35 minutes to this restaurant and I would not be willing to make the drive again. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her chicken sandwich. To be biased, I do believe it was just because she's extremely hungry and it's a hot day, but I did taste the chicken and it was not bad. She gave it a rating of an 8/10 I say 6.5/10. The sweet tea, as you know from the sentence above, I am from the south, you cannot offer half sweetened tea and satisfy a southerner, but because out west they don't have any sweet tea at all, I'm sure everybody was amazed over it. I give it 4/10 I hate to be a harsh critic here, but I do believe if you were from the West Coast, you will enjoy this place as it is not horrible. It's just not what a southerner would enjoy. Inside it is nice, pretty decent seating, the service was amazing. The ladies that were taking orders and running the restaurant are doing an amazing job. Overall, I can give you guys a 3 1/2 star rating on yelp I would, but it definitely doesn't meet the four-star quality. Still give them a shot.

The ribs are incredibly delicious, the most tender I've had in years. Even in the Seattle area, it's hard to find a place that makes ribs this tender and flavorful. I even had to come back for a second round before heading home. The staff provides excellent service, and the atmosphere is great--relaxed and not crowded, making you want to stay for a while. The restrooms are clean. The only downside is the price. Personally, I think it's a bit expensive, even more so than many places in the Seattle area.

Delicious tender ribs ! The meat literally fell off the bone many times , clean ! The fries were not greasy at all, we learned they use tallow oil . Def will be back next time in the area !

Blown away. My husband is a Smash Burger fan we made a special trip to Wenatchee to try Sweetwood BBQ's Oklahoma Smash Burger. The piled high 2x smash patties with onions smashed in American cheese and their Sweetwood burger sauce on a potato bun. Incredible flavor savory and sweet with all that melty cheese mingled with the Sweetwood burger sauce. * note -this burger is not on their regular menu it's a special they run on Wednesdays. I ordered the pick 2 special with pulled chicken, coleslaw and corn bread. The moist chicken meat had a slight smokey flavor that didn't overwhelm the natural flavor. The coleslaw was fresh and crisp. The cornbread was flakey, moist and perfectly slightly sweet. I was impressed with the generous portions. I had to get a to go box. The service is excellent and the staff is very friendly. As we ate they walked around checking with each and every table making sure we all enjoyed our meals. We also received a surprise sample of their Honey Sriracha Ribs. I have never had a rib that tasted like candy and meat at the same time, so delicious. After eating I definitely needed a couple wet naps. The atmosphere of Sweetwood is clean and comfortable. You can choose a booth that is dark and cozy or a table that is bright and comfy. We are excited to come back and bring friends after New Years. Don't forget to purchase a bottle or two of their homemade BBQ sauce. We got a few for gifts.

    Sampler for 2 (at home).

Sweetwood opens at 3 PM and closes at 8 PM. I arrived at 4 PM and ordered (for take out) the sampler for two people, for a total of $56 (that's a recent price change not shown on Yelp yet). I believe this order for two, would easily feed four people-- that's equivalent to $14 per person. The two sides might not go the full distance, but all the meats definitely would. I ordered coleslaw and baked beans, both were very generic as far as side dishes go. The baked beans did have some pork mixed in for flavor. The meal came with two large servings of cornbread with butter on the side. Overall, the flavors of everything were good--all time honored flavors we would recognize and enjoy. Albeit, the amount of spices and barbecue sauce did overpower the taste of the meats, somewhat. That, and the sugar content, made this a very rich meal, another reason it would feed four people. The only negative was that all the meats were dry and overcooked. I'm a seasoned chef (pardon the pun), and there's no excuse for all the meats being too dry, only an hour after the restaurant opens. Spare ribs are always fatty, there is no reason for them to be as dry as jerky. A chicken thigh cannot be smoked at the same temperature or duration as beef. i'm sure these people know that, but they weren't paying attention today. Here's the good news. If they paid more attention to really barbecuing these meats perfectly**, this store would knock it out of the park for barbecue in Wenatchee. Seriously, everything else is right on about this place. Bottom line: they advertise pull-apart, but they served rip-apart. That alone takes their rating to average. Otherwise, it was a good meal. 3-Stars is good! ** Brisket 190° over 10 to 12 hours. Spareribs 325° for two hours Chicken thighs 350° for 45 minutes

Absolutely happy to write a review for the best cheeseburger of Wenatchee and the best BBQ in Washington State. I traveled to visit this place because I kept hearing good things and really was after just a cheeseburger. The menu rotates as most good restaurants do. It all depends on the sourced meats ect. While in town I connected with the location asking if a burger is on the menu and was given a day that it would be. The special was a Oklahoma cheese burger. It's a style of cheeseburger that uses mustard, onion and smashed beef and typically American Cheese. The service is stellar and the staff is eager to accommodate everyone's needs. It's in a stop mall type building but the ambiance is immediately obvious upon entry. It feels rustic and comfortable and has adequate seating but show up early on these cheeseburger dates because quantity is limited and the restaurant could sell out. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Sadly, many of them have moved on. But some still remain, and encountering them again is exhilarating. I always look forward to the hugs and squealing laughter.--"...where did you go and what have you done...? We've missed you!" McGlinn's Alehouse is the place we spent most of our time for the first five years of our marriage. It was originally the Orondo Tavern, built in 1922 as a solid brick two-story commercial building in the small town rural American style--big, open storefront windows on the ground floor, and small offices and apartments on the second, with tiny windows surrounded in iron bar planters. Such buildings have long narrow internal staircases up the right side entrance--one you'd never access unless to lived in one of those vaults upstairs. I finally returned to McGlinn's tonight. I had been meaning to, long before this, but there was never any parking in front --many restaurants now have covered sidewalk-cabanas out front--a code violation waved during the COVID pandemic. Inside, the left wall is still that half-block-long cabinet of all the liquor bottles you can imagine, multiplied in depth by the mirrors behind them. Down the middle of the room is one long continuous table that seats 14 people on a side--yes, strangers sit together. At the very back wall there is still, the largest brick open-hearth wood-burning oven you'd ever bake a leg of lamb and two pizzas in, at the same time. And down the right side-wall were six wooden tables-of-four, all sealed in a hard resin clear coat, as shiny and clean as they were vintage and rustic. I sat in the first chair at the first table, my back to the stairway down to bathrooms in the basement below the sidewalk. I had the Pulled Pork Sandwich with Tim's chips, a departure from the "John Paul Bacon Burger with pickled onions (McGlinn's is famous for). Ask to sit in Sadie's section--she's been there 20 years. Unfortunately, I was on a work trip, but I could imagine this being the first stop then walking off the food. It is on the smaller side of restaurants, but the evening I visited, there was a party of 8 seated towards the back. I'd recommend parties of 2-4 max, but they can accommodate more if it's a slower night. The service was good, nothing over the top, but nothing below average. As soon as I entered, I was greeted and sat at one of the high tops. This high top was on the smaller side, but since I was just a party of one, it was reasonable and I another high top right next to me to use as well. The food came out pretty quickly, which was nice and they were easy to reach if I needed anything. Very welcoming atmosphere. I ordered the crab Rangoon, crispy chicken Thai basil, and a Thai Iced coffee. The server recommended the crab Rangoon when I asked her which she would choose between the shrimp rolls, spicy crispy chicken wings, or the crab Rangoon. They were solid, nothing crazy, but good. The crispy chicken Thai basil was decent as well; again nothing over the top, but the right portion with some heart shaped rice to go with it. In my opinion, it could use a little more spice. I went with the medium, but it was definitely not spicy at all, so I requested the spice tray to fix that. The Thai iced coffee was exactly what I would want it to taste like. Yes, I would recommend this place. Keep the party smaller. I'll have to try another dish on my next trip out here.
