This location is awesome! Every time I've gone here the employees are super friendly, and they get the orders out fast. I have yet to have a bad drink from here! I got a coupon in my Beans and Brews app to try one of their secret menu drinks, so I came by to give it a try. The drink I got is called Cougars Blood. Gag. This was the worst coffee I've ever had in my life. If not for the nice people who work here this would have been a one star affair. All we wanted was some caffeine fuel for the voyage home (thar be whales here), and instead of going with a chain we could easily get in California we tried something local that had an average Yelp rating. We could have also gone to have another good cup at Java Jo's (GOOD Utah coffee, even good by our spoiled standards), but alas wanted to try a different Utah coffee joint. Oops. Mistake. Foul foul mistake. Never again. What we were served were weak cups of water with vague sugar flavors. Mine was supposed to be an oatmeal cookie and my traveling companion's a mocha. Mine was vaguely cinnamon sugar water and hers was vaguely chocolate sugar water. No flavor. Barely any strength to the pour. Just awful. To add to our bad food decisions made on this trip (the beer and one coffee in Utah I can stand by, but the food....oh gods Yelp failed us so many times. We should have consulted the plant-based people because we were missing fresh vegetables/fruits so bad that a Wendy's hamburger I had in Elko, Nevada later on was blessed respite...), my friend ordered a croissant that was stale. I do a good amount of coffee shop meetings, interviews, and laptop warrior sessions. And so I'm grateful for Beans & Brews and their many locations all around SLC. Now, I do tend to grab a drink when I'm here, but usually it's an OJ or something else that's pre-packaged. I don't drink coffee or tea so it's a little outside of my wheelhouse. But the shop part of this coffee shop is where I live. There's a good vibe, and if you get hungry they have some sandwichy options. A fellow Yelp Elite member posted about the Carmel coffee vs Starbucks and since this location is across the street from work, I figured I would give it a try. And...it was far better than any coffee I have ordered from Starbucks! That said, the caramel coffee (forgot their specific name for this drink) also comes in at a whopping 55 grams of sugar, more than my daily allowance, so this will be a rare special treat. But I look forward to trying other drinks. On the service front, I found them unfriendly, unlike my Starbucks barista who is overly bubbly. read more

Stopped in while driving through the city. The good: The coffee was pretty good, a lot better than Starbucks... unless you really like bitter tasting coffee. The decor inside is great, very clean and simple. This reminds me of a "mom and pop shop" rather than the chain that it is. The bad: The food options are pretty great, lots of breakfast sandwiches and wraps. What we actually received though didn't quite live up to the expectation. The breakfast potato burrito was super salty and waaaaaay too much onion. The "grilled" cheese was a soggy mess. When a kid doesn't eat a grilled cheese sandwich you know it's bad. The bread was never grilled or even toasted. They microwave the food and so everything comes out wet and gross. The service at the counter was about what you'd expect from kids that don't really know what good customer service is. The kept calling our food order out and looking at me... they clearly saw that I had my hands full with my 6 month old and yet they chose to just let it sit there and continue to steam in the bags rather than take a moment to run it out to the table. The ugly: Also, another huge pet peeve of mine is that they didn't have any changing tables in either bathroom. I'm not sure where they expect parents to change their kids... maybe out on one of the tables? Little things and common sense could have made this a much better experience. Will I try again? I dunno. I'm a delivery driver, I can't take my truck through the drive thru so I guess I don't get coffee. Beans was a safe haven when I was homeless, I would go there once a week- but apparently unless you have the privilege of a car your patronage means nothing! Visiting the area I was seeing Beans & Brew at about every exit off I-15, so I decided to try them. Since it was hot out I decided to try their Espresso Float, which turned out to be very smooth and good. I realized later it had a strong caffeine kick to it, which probably accounts for the price. Coffee was fine, normal beans and brews coffee. Nothing to say about that. I did ask for light ice, (cause I don't want a cup full of ice), but they put two pieces of ice in. And it wasn't even cold. The line was crazy long, when my friend and I ordered, the girl taking the orders COULD NOT get them right. Two very very simple drinks, caramel celio and frozen mocha. She told us the total then said 'oh my god' in an annoyed voice. We couldn't go anywhere since the line was so long, we couldn't move, so we just sat there in shock. I like coffee once in a while. I must say that I usually go to Starbucks and get a caramel macchiato and I'm happy with that. But Beans and Brews Caramel Cielo gets five stars. Doesn't taste bitter or burnt. It's a moderate strength coffee that got me through the morning. No sugar was necessary; as this had the perfect amount of sweetness. They consider this a decadent choice for those craving a rich dessert beverage. This espresso drink is topped with froth and decorated with a drizzle of real caramel. Stop by this place in the morning for some coffee and breakfast before hiking. I love that this place has early open hour and the staff was also super friendly. I got their everything bagel with egg white and sausage, egg white and cheese croissant. They usually do not switch egg for customers but they were super nice to do that for me since the store was not that busy. The croissant was delicious. Bread was buttery, crispy and warm. The bagel though was kind of doughy and bland but bacon egg and cheese were delicious. Their nonfat latte was also refreshing and creamy. Wow! So, I visited the drive thru on my way to Colorado a few weeks ago and loved the fair prices and amazing sizes so much that I MADE sure that we revisited on our way back home to WA. My first experience was great, but my second was even better!!! I went in the restaurant this time and had the great pleasure of meeting Sammy! She was so kind and helpful! I ordered a great drink and she recommended me flavoring it with lavender. Soo many times the syrup to drink ratio is off, but they crafted the perfect balance that made every sip delicious. Sammy also made an extra effort to create the most amazing treat for my pup! Since I was on a long road trip, I asked for something to help a pill go down for my little guy and she created the best pup treat for him (like a pupacino on steroids). A solid, delicious coffee shop with talented baristas and tasty drinks. I'm not a coffee drinker, but there is a wide selection of non-coffee drinks, and the staff are great about customizing your order to make a drink into something you will like. They also have a menu of snacks and nibbles, so you can make a little meal of it. Bonus points at this location for a drive-through window, but it can be a little hairy in the parking lot. It's far easier to get out of the lot to drive west on 70th South than go in any other direction. But you'll enjoy your drink enough to make it worth the parking lot hassle. read more
