I've tried a few different flavors including the Vietnamese Coffee which hits the spot when you want something sweet; the Ethiopian roast which is a strong brew and the best way to start my morning; and a Cortado which is a great afternoon option. The service is always friendly, and they take the time to explain each roast. I've been offered samples before buying a bag of beans as a gift. I love how the options for beans changes, but they're always fresh! I gained some creds from bringing these beans to my group of friends to try. Chill vibe, friendly service, customer oriented. I so wish this was my neighborhood coffee place! I stopped here while charging my car in the parking lot. The spinach quiche was loaded with spinach, which I like but may be too high of a vegetable to egg ratio for some. I had a latte with matcha foam. I've been going here since the late aughts. The coffee always has been, and remains, consistently great. it's mostly single-source estate coffees with a few house blends of those thrown in. I'm especially partial to their light- and medium-roast central and South American coffees. New management has taken over in the past year and they have made great strides in improving the ambiance without reducing the quality of their main product. They still feature art from local artists on the walls. They also have a website that will ship beans for you, and on a subscription basis if you so desire. My daughter in law has been enjoying your coffee for quite a few years. She was in the area 3/11 and 12(dates matter in this case) so she brought me a long. I love the vibe! I ordered a cold brew. Best damn brew I'd tasted, in fact, I came back in on 3/18, 19, and 20 for more! I then went back on Monday of this week and had a very different cold brew No flavor, just bitter and tastes burned. I came in again and spoke with Tina who told me that sometimes when a new batch of cold brew is made by someone different, it changes. I chatted by phone with the owner, who returned my inquiry about Beanetics' organic coffees, and he said Sao would be working when I planned to visit on a Saturday afternoon. Sao seemed to know me when I stepped into the shop (which smells HEAVENLY--worth the visit just for the aroma!), and she graciously prepared coffee after coffee (espresso, actually, because that is what I drink at home) so I could try the coffees and choose the one I liked best. The Bali Blue Moon captivated me with its lively flavors, low acidity, lack of harsh bitterness, and beautiful smoothness. (Note: Sao is as knowledgeable as she is adept at making a fabulous espresso). At home I'm now making the most exquisite espresso (and cappuccino, naturally)--with thick crema and fabulous body, all with my little Breville Bambino Plus and the Bali Blue Moon. No exaggeration: it's equal to what I've had at the best restaurants and coffee houses (although one magical espresso at a cafe in Paris stands out. Unfair comparison, though: I was in a romantic frame of mind at the time and in Paris--and the sun was even shining, which I've only rarely experienced there). I'll go to Paris when I can, but meanwhile I'll gladly go to Beanetics and get all my coffee freshly roasted (which is a must if you want full flavor) and support a local business that totally gets customer service and providing memorable coffee. First time to this coffee shop and a truly nice experience. In our times of COVID, they have a take out table set up right outside the store. I wasn't sure what to order and the person taking my order was so friendly , even let me sample one of their dark drip coffees, Bali Blue Moon. It was so smooth. I ordered an Atomic Expresso Americano. That too was smooth, not bitter, and perfect for a cool morning. Will definitely return to try other beans. Customer Service- on point. I used to be a regular here and would purchase their beans every month, however I've found myself enjoying my visits less and less as I noticed their price increases and drop in quality. It doesn't help that they changed their reward program to make the loyalty points I've accumulated over the years almost worthless (kind of ironic actually that they show they have no loyalty to their long time customers by slashing the value of the very same points that display their customers loyalty). But the nail in the coffin for me was that I ordered a drink with my coffee bean purchase recently and they wanted me to pay an extra few cents to fix my drink- literally nickel and diming me on a $20+ purchase. Save your money folks, better drinks and service can be found elsewhere. read more

I saw Tina R.'s review of this place - somehow I've been unaware of this place - so while over in the City Fairfax shopping for HD TV stands after the Pho Force - I went a bit out of my way to check this place out. It was cold and raining briskly when I arrived. Two young guys were manning the counter - one who seemed like he knew what he was doing, and a second who appeared like he was in training - as the poor guy had no idea what to do. The other guy was helping three folks pick out several bags of whole beans that would then be ground. They were taking what seemed like an inordinate amount of time to do all of this - but I was patient. I asked the one young guy if he was new - he said yes and apologized for my having to wait. I told him no worries. So then he finally finishes my drink - a triple shot Cappuccino in a medium cup. Problem is - this IS NOT a Cappuccino, it weighs in like a Latte. I pointed this out - the more experienced guy came over and remade my drink - but it was still to heavy - more like a Latte then a Cappuccino. At this point, I was not going to argue - I'll have a Latte today instead. The taste of the drink itself was not bad. They have a room set aside for the bean roasting - using one of those large industrial style roasting machines - painted close to what looks like Fire Engine red (See the pix attached to the review). Hopefully the experience and capabilities of the staff here will improve - as I like to see more independent coffee houses and less Starbucks! read more

Always my to-go coffee place. Reasonable price for some bomb-ass coffee; Starbucks' coffee never have me running around all day like Beanetic's does. I shop at Aldi often and always wondered about this coffee shop. I finally decided to treat myself and stopped by after my Sunday grocery shopping. I was pleasantly surprised that they had set up a Grab and Go outside the tiny shop. I decided to try the Decaf Ethiopian since I'm pregnant and this was seriously the first Decaf I've had that tasted good! They have a variety of blends I'm excited to try when I want some caffeine. My husband and I have been several times to grab and share a Vietnamese coffee. One time my husband got a large drip coffee and he was super surprised at how inexpensive and delicious it was. The VN coffee is delicious and smooth and just sweet enough for my liking. Staff is not over the top friendly (except for the young lady with the colorful hair...she is adorable and sweet) but they are not unfriendly either. We have left pleased with the coffee each time and then pop down a couple door to the bakery grab a sweet to share.YUM! read more

I ordered a decaf latte which I will tell you at other places, and I've tried to make quite a few other places, had no flavor. It's sort of like somebody just passed coffee beans, over water. This is my favorite local coffee shop. They are located in the same shopping center as Silverado, Aldi, The Cue Club and Tiffany's bakery off of Columbia pike. Its nice to have other options to get coffee besides Starbucks and the Korean bakeries in Annandale. Beanetics have been in Annandale for as long as I can remember. Although the grocery in the corner changes Beanetics still remains because the locals love their coffee. Their frozen coffee frappes are refreshing and is perfect during the summer. You must try their coffee cakes are a bonus. Try the regular or blueberry. The apple coffee cake was a bit dry and not as moist as the other two. You can watch a staff member use the machine to grind and package the coffee too which is a neat feature and they are very friendly and informative if you have any questions. read more

I miss the old staff. The previous group of gentlemen that worked here were always easygoing, efficient, and kind. The new group of employees are kind of snobby, but in a cringey way. They're trying to create that coffee culture vibe, but something is just not right, so it just comes off as awkward. I was hopeful that this would be a great place given the pictures I saw if their roster, but unfortunately it was not good. The space is kind of cramped and there is not a lot of seating. There was some small munchies available but coffee was the main thing on the menu. I ordered my usual latte and what I was served was not very good. The milk was textured like a cappuccino and not a latte. The temperature was also way too hot. The result was a burnt flavor and an unpleasant after taste. I added sweetner which I never do and even then it was only minimally acceptable. I can't say if the beans were good or not, but I can say that the Barista on duty did not do a good job. read more

I'm still convinced this Beanetics is a truly awesome coffee shop but I just keep ordering the wrong drink for me. I wanted to love my frozen frap French toast drink which had good flavor but just so darn sweet (for me)! The ingredients sound delish when I ordered (any time there is Amaretto, count me in!) and I love trying new things- well, sometimes thats works out well, but not always. While I'm standing outside the store waiting for the drink to come out, I'm already mid-way through reconsidering my drink choice when it came out (quickly). I should have probably just stuck with something simple but then it dawns on me I ordered the exact same drink last time I was here too! By the way they have an extremely efficient outside only ordering system in place here so kudos to Beanetics for that. I will be back but probably try a cappuccino or something like that. read more

They even steamed the latte without burning it! Starbucks should take a few lessons on how to properly get the most out of steamed milk without scalding your tongue off. Both very good flavors and low in acidity. If you can't decide on what you want they offer coffee sampling. The dude be hind the counter really knew his stuff and made some great recommendations based on my preferences for coffee. They even have 100% Kona, which I LOVE! The have whole beans for sale, and I think they also have other stuff like iced coffees and what not, but I was not really paying attention. They also have art work from local DC artists displayed for sale. Also a major plus. The decor of the place has a science lab geek feel to it. Beanetics is one of the nicest independent coffehouses in NOVA and certainly the best in the western Alexandria/Allandale area. Their roasts are first-rate and their drinks are very nice, served by pleasant, personal baristas. WIFI is free and fast (though you will need to ask the barista for the password). A few negatives: seating is minimal, the location in a grungy strip mall is uninspired, and much of the interior is devoted to coffee roasting machines rather than seating or artwork. Very, very good cup of coffee here. I wandered in the first time a few years ago, and hadn't been back (isn't on any of my normal travel routes for work/play). I went in again yesterday morning as I passed by for my first cup of the day. John behind the counter was friendly, and gave a good synopsis of what the different coffees were like, and I went with the specialty house blend called a "Wooly Mammoth" (great name). The coffee was mild, flavorful, and quite good. The service was fantastic, and the whole idea of the place (roast their own beans, etc). The biggest thing is, get this, a personal travel mug of coffee ran me a whopping $1.05 after tax. That's it. In the era of $3 cups of coffee, this little place makes fantastic, non-bitter coffee at a fair price. Kudos. I wish this place was closer to me, I'd be here all the time. read more

I have had cappuccinos at this place a few times now and the result has been good and bad - hence the 3 stars. Couple of times the cappuccino was perfect - espresso shot was not bitter (that I like) and it was dry enough for me. A few times the espresso shot was bitter since the barista let it sit on the machine for too long before adding the milk. I always like if the baristas steam the milk before pulling the espresso shot - this was the shot is fresh when the milk is added. This is a business that's been here a long time. I frequented daily for years and then moved. Stopped in today on Xmas visit. Noticed a few things this trip: -coffee was still really good - interior was super junked up. It really needs de cluttered. I was very surprised and disappointed. -DIRT and dust everywhere. Seriously! Even the faux tin ceiling had dust bunnies. The creamer station was filthy and neglected. The sun was shining and you could see dirt and dust under all the trays which means that they are never lifted and cleaned under. -some teen boy on his cell phone spent 20 minutes sweeping with a broken down broom at the entrance inside. Kind of funny since he was so lazy and checking his phone all time. ADVICE TO NEW OR CURRENT OWNER Thoroughly clean evening.
