The newly re-opened Beacon Tap is awesome! The interior is brand new and looks great! Drink prices are definitely reasonable and the dinner I had with my wife was great! The stuffed Jalapenos are awesome because unlike most places that fry them - these seemed to be smoked! Easily the best version of this appetizer I've had from anywhere! I had a burger and my wife had some smoked turkey; both of which were excellent. The place was jam packed (which we are happy to see), but the service was lightning fast, and we were seated quickly. We ordered the popcorn crawfish and the fish and chips for dinner. Dinner was fast and quick to the table. The crawfish were very good and the dipping sauce was very nice. The potato pancakes served with the fish and chips are very good and crisp. We did enjoy the fish, however it was a bit greasy. Not Long John Silver's greasy, just too greasy! Tom, the manager is absolutely terrible. If you want to get ridiculed for your ID photo not looking like you (as a 25 year old woman) then this is the place for you! I've never had anyone tell me I look younger than my age before. I guess this guy doesn't want his restaurant to make money, because after he refused to serve my table of 7 friends (all hungry and thirsty) we left because it was so ridiculous. We used to come here for the fish fry when we lived in IL. Hadn't been here in years. Flew into O'Hare and were hungry. Saw it on yelp and hoped it is as good as we remembered. It is. BEWARE draft beers are only 12-14 ounces. I asked the waitress if the "drafts" are pints and she acted confused and said what is a pint? I said is it a 16 oz beer, like a pint? And she said it's the same as the water glasses. She purposely avoided the question. The beer came and I think it's 12 oz. but might be 14 oz. I can't believe bars think they can get away with this, in Des Plaines of all places. People know their beer around here and know if they are getting ripped off. This just makes you wonder what else they are skimping on at this place. I wouldn't recommend. When I order a draft, I expect a pint, and don't skirt the issue by saying "it's the same as water glasses." Shameful. read more

This is a well run place. Our group went to see the Band Triple Shot. Nice setting for seeing a band, having fun. Great food, brisket, Smoked Wings (I'm getting people addicted to these) Tommy, Lisa and all the staff, excellent. Beautiful, clean, a place I recommend to friends and practically EVERYONE! OK. Made a trip to the Bacon Tap. Ordered up their Jalapeno burger, which included a basically deconstructed stuffed and smoked jalapeno pepper. That should have been my first clue. Stuff a pepper with cream cheese, the cheese will get all warm, and turn into a soft messy warm slop of cream cheese. Schmear it on a hot grilled burger, add additional toppings, and you have a mess. Wow! What a surprise!!! It was a completely messy disaster! I thought, it couldn't be that bad. But. It. Was. What were these people thinking when they put it on the menu? Place a cream cheeeese stuffed pepper onto a burger, the pepper itself also got soft and watery. Add ketchup, and some aoli, and you've got a perfect slip bomb. Get rid of this thing. On another note. . .every time I took a bite of this thing, our waiter, I think his name was Dustin, immediately came over to see how everything was. . .of course you can't enunciate anything with a mouth full of a huge bite you just took. All you can do is nod, smile, or make a face, or grunt. He left quickly. . .but wait, he did it again! Wait for the hapless diner to take a mouthful of what they were eating, then make a beeline over to see if they needed another beverage. I swear he did it on purpose, good for a few grins with the gang in the kitchen, but not good for business. We won't be back. read more

We came here Saturday for lunch since we were in the area. I got the Beacon Burger with waffle fries and my husband got the grilled chicken sandwich with coleslaw. We were seated quickly and food came out fast. It was a good portion and tasted great. I believe he was the house manager came around and checked on us multiple times. Super nice guy! Visited the Beacon Tap yesterday around 4:30 for dinner and drinks after golfing at Lake Opeka with a group of 13 people. Wasn't able to go outside as it wasn't open, and it seemed to be a true hassle to accommodate the group with a table and chairs. Seemed like Bingo was more important thank our group. Shout out to the Bar Tender who was by her self and told us she was not feeling well. Had Pizza which is usually pretty good but was unimpressed. For all of us in the group we have grown up with the Beacon the experience has us rethink our outings dinner spot next year. This is my favorite brunch place!! Prices are extremely reasonable, they give large portions which are without a doubt still very delicious and you can't beat the $12 unlimited mimosas and Bloody Mary bar which comes fully stacked. Been here several times. The cheesy garlic beef sandwich is awesome. However this week I was served a sandwich that was a lot smaller than the past. Mentioned it to our waitress and she totally agreed. She told me should discount it some or bring me more sandwich. I asked her for a half of sandwich and she brought me a whole new meal. They were rude when we entered and after ordering our food and it was delivered cold to our table we had to wait and ask for silverware and napkins. This neighborhood landmark considered a hole in the wall has gotten new owners a few years back. They kept the original long oblong bar which I love and refurbished and replaced everything in the place. The food is amazing bar food, sandwiches, burgers, fries and Mac and Cheese Bites, just to name a few, that are so good! It is great in the summertime to be seated out on their spacious fenced patio and watch a sporting event on their huge TV screen above the outdoor bar or to play bags in one of their leagues. read more
