Polish Dog
Destiny H.

Food 10/10 Like in at a loss for words tbh...but I guess the point of a review is to put it into words. It was honestly the best polish dog ever. Staff is great, and, hello!! pinball?! Super cool little Spot in Black Circle. Now, it can be suuppppeerrr loud depending on what else is going on next door - Which is not my vibe BUT it is 1000% worth it.

fried bologna sandwich with cheese
Brandon S.

I am so excited to have a good food option while attending a show or other event at Black Circle. Before visiting for the first time, I knew I needed the fried bologna sandwich... and I was not disappointed. They grill a thick slab of bologna until it's nice and crispy and serve it on a toasted bun. Make sure you add cheese to it - just trust me.

It was a cool-looking restaurant and felt like a cozy spot. My food came out looking amazing, and it tasted great. I got the Mac n Cheese Donuts and the Grilled Crispy Chicken Burrito. My issue was mainly with the service. From the time my friend and I were seated, it took 15 minutes for us to be greeted, and we had been sitting there for more than 20 minutes before we received our drinks and had a chance to order our food. This was during the early afternoon with very little foot traffic, so I personally don't see why there was such a delay in what could've been a smooth experience. I also asked for a to-go box but was never brought one, so I had to leave my leftovers behind in order to walk to work and make it there on time. I would try this place again, but maybe next time I would sit at the bar to make the interaction quicker and easier.

The tortillas had that authentic flavor and texture you just don't get from chain restaurants, and the meat was flavorful, well-seasoned, and packed into every taco. The green salsa was the star of the show for me. Creamy, slightly spicy, and absolutely addictive. I found myself putting it on every bite. The fresh cilantro, onions, and generous lime wedges brought everything together perfectly. Simple ingredients done right. Beyond the food, I loved the atmosphere. It's part taqueria, part Mexican market, which always feels like a good sign when you're looking for authentic food. No frills, no gimmicks, just great food and a steady stream of customers who clearly know where to find the good stuff. If you're in Indianapolis and craving authentic street-style tacos, this place deserves a spot on your list. I'll definitely be back for more tacos and to explore more of the menu. Worth the stop. Bring your appetite.

The Cubano was not to bready with sausage, egg, bacon, ham and was delicious. Not sure what Chris C below is talking about because Paco's has nothing on this place. She had the tacos Americano she got two ground beef and one carnitas. They came with pico de gallo, romaine, sour cream, shredded cheese. She enjoyed them. Didn't I get the level of enjoyment for them, she was able to put down one ground beef and one carnita. I ate the last. Not a big soft taco fan, but interior ingredients were flavorful. I was not a fan of the salsas that I tried. They did send over chips, that were in my opinion. They were crispy. Had no flavor of either salt nor lime on them. Definitely needed salsa, but as I mentioned earlier, the salsas were not very good. Good. I had a roasted red salsa, salsa Verde, plus chili de arbol. None of them, had anything going for them. That was positive. It tasted like it was just the ingredients without seasoning. The salsa Verde tasted like just green tomatoes, and the same for the red. The spicy one, tasted like Tomatoes and spicy peppers. The menu appeared to have a nice variety of different items. I would definitely give them a second chance on something else.

The restaurant itself is small, but don't let that fool you. The menu may be concise, but everything tastes like it's made with care rather than trying to offer 100 different options. The tacos are fantastic, and the fresh house-made tortillas make all the difference. If it's your first visit, do yourself a favor and stop by the salsa station. There are several options ranging from mild to a nice kick of heat, and they're all worth trying. One of my favorite things is that you can order directly from the taco shop or from the pickup window connected to Turner's next door. Grab your tacos, walk over to the bar, order a drink, and enjoy one of the coolest lunch or dinner spots downtown. It's such a fun setup that makes the whole experience even better. The staff has always been friendly, service is quick, prices are very reasonable, and every visit reminds me why I keep coming back. If you're exploring downtown Indianapolis and craving authentic tacos, Julieta deserves a spot on your list.
