I used to live on the East Coast, and I get a hankering for cheesestakes fairly regularly. However, I don't eat a lot of red meat. Usually, that leaves me with chicken cheese steaks. But not at Mambo's. Mambo's has mushroom cheese stakes. And darn good ones. The friendly staff were more than happy to give me the best veggie cheesestake I've probably ever had. I'd definitely check them out if you're at Amp for a concert or other event.

We really like the whole garage food concept. Everyone can choose the kind of food they want and or try menu options from several different places. So we headed back to The Amp today. After checking out the menus of a couple new places since my last visit we decided to try Mambos. I had the Deluxe Cheesesteak with onions, green peppers and provolone cheese. It comes with mushrooms too but I had mine not added. I asked for the combo and that included fries and a drink. The total was about $12. The sandwich was good and the fries were even better. My wife had the Teriyaki Chicken Steak combo with onions, bell peppers, cheese and lettuce. Also served with fries. She loved it. She said the bread was soft and absorbed the teriyaki juice from the chicken as she ate it. They had a couple containers of ketchup buried under the fries which was a nice surprise. We both liked that the food is prepared while you wait, served fresh and hot. Once the meats or chicken are cooked, cheese melted and the sandwich built, then they ask you for your preferences on lettuce, tomato, mayo and seasoning for your fries. The servers were friendly and even though the place was packed, we got our food in about 10 minutes or less. Great service. The only complaint we had was the soda machines are shared so no matter where you order from if you get a fountain soda, the set up is to the north end and you serve yourself. Today wasn't a good day to get a soda. The machine was out of syrup or not calibrated right so the drinks were awful. Not sure who is responsible to keep an eye on that.

First time at the AMP. What a fun place. Service was very good. I ordered a cheesesteak combo which included a huge sandwich filled with steak, fries and a medium drink for $12. I really liked the roll and the sandwich was jam packed with steak and some peppers and onions. Fries were nice and hot and good. My only complaint was lack of cheese. We watched them cook it and it looks like they had the cheese on the flat top with the food rather than cooking the meat and veggies and then putting the cheese on top. So it was good but cheese would have elevated it to a 4 star- after all it was supposed to be a cheesesteak sandwich.

I'm so happy to see that the AMP has a place like Mambos that adds even more diversity to the place! It was Monday and unfortunately many tenants were closed, and the place I wanted to go to was one of them... BUT this made me try something new which turned out to be just great. mambos is awesome, because it has lomo saltado on their menu!! In case you don't know what it is, according to Wikipedia, "Lomo saltado is a popular, traditional Peruvian dish, a stir fry that typically combines marinated strips of sirloin (or other beef steak) with onions, tomatoes, french fries, and other ingredients" So the menu said lomo saltado so i orders it not knowing it is actually a sandwich. But okay, it was *D-E-L-I-S-H* I chose a salad as a side and it made a perfect lunch. The food was ready in about five minutes too. Guys were friendly. Thank you for having Peruvian food on the menu.

I really like this place! First, I love the amp food hall and think everyone should go. Mambos is so good!! I love their steak and it's flavored so well. It's very quick, order and wait maybe 5 minutes until they call your name. Out of all of the places in the amp for food, it's in my top 3

This place is the SPOT! I absolutely love the atmosphere in the AMP and have enjoyed getting to know the workers at Mambos. I recommend everyone to stop by, specifically at the AMP location. Their food is always so fresh and served so quick. I have tried multiple things on their menu, though the cheese fries will always hold a special place in my heart. I am an intern at 16 Tech/The Amp and I know Mambos always welcomes feedback and reviews. It has been a joy to promote them on social media. Be sure to check out their menu, as they have added a few new items!

I was delighted to see a vegetarian cheesesteak on the menu and let me tell you, that sandwich was LEGIT. I checked more than once to make sure I wasn't eating meat but whatever they do to those mushrooms is magic. I got my sandwich fully loaded with mayo, lettuce, tomato, and banana peppers, and it was a bit of a gut buster but very delicious. Fries were good too. I will definitely be back!

A friend and I visited the AMP for dinner on a Saturday night and I chose to try Mambo's. Many food shops were closed for the day, so my choice was mostly out of necessity, but I'm glad I tried Mambo's. I ordered their chicken salad and was pleased. The portion size was huge and the ingredients were tasty. I liked the combo of the mambo sauce and banana peppers. One small critique: the salad dressings come in Kraft packets. I'd prefer at least an attempt to disguise that it's a mass-produced dressing by putting in a container, but that's just me being picky. The two gentlemen working were super friendly. The cashier greeted me and helped me pick my order. He quickly worked with the cook to get my order to me in minutes. My husband loves cheesesteaks, so I would definitely return with him!

    Loaded Steak Fries - Large

Are you looking for a hangover cure? Maybe a cheat meal? Or you just like indulging in heavy food like me... if so, then the mambos Loaded Steak Fries are for you. At first I was a bit skeptical because I'm not a big shoestring fry guy, but they were fried perfectly - crispy outside but not overly done, and the were fresh out of the fryer. I didn't try any of the sandwiches or burgers, but would at a minimum recommend Mambos as a place to get a side of loaded fries, or make it a meal if you get the large (see my picture)!

The breakfast burrito at Mambo's was so good! Made fresh to order you could pick between 3 types of wraps as well as 3 types of meat. You can order just the burrito or add sliced potatoes on the side. They give you a ton of potatoes and you can have them add seasoning to them as well. I would definitely order the burrito again. It was packed with eggs, sausage, cheese, jalapeños, peppers and onions. They sell coffee also! They have a lot of other breakfast items as well. The quesadillas they have I'm sure are just as good. That will be next time. I have had the chimichuri steak sandwich at the Yelp event at the AMP and it was great! Until next time Mambo's!

    #1 Combo

We love coming to the AMP for all the options. Hubby loved his #1 Original combo. He added mushrooms. Food was quick, hot, and "melted in your mouth just like it's supposed to." I stole a few French fries and they were perfectly crispy!

My 15-year old picky eater really enjoyed the double cheeseburger. She said it was flavorful but it could've been juicier. Good fries!

    Chicken Saltado and fries.
    Phil B.

Still awesome Chicken Saltado. You get a lot for your money. They now have fountain drinks available but only water if you are looking for sugar free artificial sweetener free drink. An event was going on today making it really hard to hear the young lady behind the counter and for her to hear me. Please suggest owners put in some kind of sound dampening soft surfaces.

I looooove their tangerine tomato soup, falafel bowl, and taco bowl. Last week, I asked an employee which item on the menu is her favorite and she said the curry cauliflower bowl, so I ordered it. Everything is colorful, fresh, and delicious. Thank you so much @Yamallama for being incredible. I saw that you now sell your bowls at Dream Palace Cafe too and I hope to see Yamallama meal options at many more coffee shops, stores, and cafes around town. I'll buy one every time I see one!!! PS: I just saw that they closed their second location in The Garage Food Hall and opened one across the street from The Children's Museum instead, so visit there or this AMP location.

It's counter service with clear menu boards on the wall, making ordering easy. I had the cheesy jalapeño grits with bacon and an egg and... my goodness. So incredibly delicious. One friend ordered the same grits but swapped in fried catfish instead of bacon--also a fantastic choice. Our third went with a classic plate with eggs and bacon, and let me tell you, the bacon is thick and plentiful. We ordered a side of fries for the table and there were more than enough to share. We were greeted right away and looked over the menu a bit before ordering. My husband ordered the country breakfast with chicken (definitely the way to go) and I ordered the cheesy jalapeño grits with bacon. We each got a cup for water and I ordered a coffee, excited because I saw ahead of going that it was self-serve (like at Cafe Patachou where I can get as many coffees as I like without having to wait for our server to come check on us first). However, the self serve coffee excitement was short-lived after seeing that they only offered half and half as creamer (I'm lactose intolerant) and the two coffee carafes were not labeled for what was inside (decaf? medium roast? you'll never know!) and then one was completely empty and never refilled during our visit. The water station also was not ever refilled during our visit, so we were not able to get refills after filling up our cups the first time. It took a couple of tries to find a table we could sit at because you seat yourself, but several had not been cleaned after other guests left and had food and drinks spilled on them. There were definitely enough staff members there to be able to clean them in between customers, so we weren't sure why they were left that way. We ended up sitting in the middle of the room towards the front, across from the clown art wall, which made for interesting conversation as we looked through everything. When the food came out I was impressed with the portions, but I had no flavor whatsoever to my cheesy jalepeno grits. The egg and bacon were good, but not enough to make it a good dish and I would not order it again. And I love savory breakfast and grits in general, so it was a real bummer. My husband's dish was worth the visit though. It was a huge portion size and we honestly would just split it if we came back and ordered it. It was so savory, seasoned perfectly, and juicy. One of the best breakfast dishes I have tried recently! I really debated between 3-4 stars for this, but my dish was a flop, the lack of cleanliness for the seating area, the lackluster self-serve coffee station, and not refilling the beverages ultimately scored a 3 star review for me. I would come back and try something else though, or split the country chicken breakfast because it was really good. Hopefully next time the beverages won't be empty!

I've struggled with how to rate and review Goose the Market for a long time…read more I've struggled mightily. It's an Indianapolis icon in many ways. It's beloved. And listen, it's not the most wheelchair friendly place in the world. If you're a wheelchair user, you're in all likelihood not going to the cellar unless you're extraordinary with you're chair or you crawl. I remember attending a Yelp event here, and I just wrestled with these issues so much. It's not inaccessible - you can get in the door, though even the parking is a bit wonky and the curb-cuts a bit worn. This is an older building in an older neighborhood. So yeah, if you're a wheelchair user plan ahead. I am a wheelchair user. And I suppose I should knock off my usual 1-star for accessibility issues. But, I just can't do it. I, instead, choose to go 5-stars with my narrative disclaimer that there are accessibility issues here. But, my word. This is a great place and every single experience I've had with Goose the Market, including last night's Italian Film Festival, has been stellar whether I'm in their location or at an event they are catering. What is Goose the Market? First off, nearly everyone considers it one of the best - Indianapolis Monthly, Eater, Yelp, etc. Goose the Market offers a daily menu of sandwiches, soups, gelato, and small plates. It offers raw beef, pork, poultry, game, seafood, in-house made sausage/smoked meats, and more. It offers charcuterie - both in-house and from other producers. It offers farmstead cheeses, fresh produce, artisan breads, preserves, sauces, pickles, pasta, crackers, flours/grains, and a lot more. There's the cellar - Enoteca bar with Italian style wine by the glass and small plates (and it has all-ages seating). Goose the Market offers a wine of the month club, gift cards, catering, classes, daily specials, and more. What can I say? There are those places that are worth the effort. As a lifelong person with a disability, I long ago realized the world would never be perfectly accessible. It's never going to happen. I'll continue to work toward a more accessible world, though I'll also honor that there are those places where I feel welcome anyway. I feel welcome at Goose the Market, though I can't quite get the full experience. The service is exceptional, the products quite awesome, the environment warm and friendly, and there's simply no doubt it's one of Indy's treasures. So yeah, five stars. With a disclaimer that those with mobility impairments may need to plan ahead or have a companion along. Who wants to be my companion?
