Everyone has always been very patient and kind and very helpful to me. I really appreciate how patient they are with me always. From cutting my Christmas tree to finding a small bolt size, they have always been kind and good to me. I appreciate this small business and am willing to pay a little more for items to keep them in business. They aren't always friendly, but generally helpful, but my last visit took the cake! The owner treated me so rudely that I still can't get over it! First, when I said I knew where to find what I needed, he told me harshly "to stand there and don't move". When I followed him to say I needed something else too, he yelled, "I told you to wait there!" Then, when I was paying at check out, he came back and told me "stop talking to my staff and let them do their work". So, after I paid and was walking out the door I said to the person entering, "Watch out someone is in a bad mood today"; and then the owner really yelled at me. I'm 72, a woman, and he's a BULLY! Its back to the BIG BOX stores for me.

He said it with a tone, as if I asked for something taboo and I immediately wonderned of I had said something wrong. I don't have any problem with them not offering the service, but as a customer its just good business and communication skills to explain why a service is not offered and to then provide alternative solutions. I felt very uncomfortable about the exchange and his abrasiveness.

My experience with them started with a need for something minor but in a hurry. They are always well stocked with very reasonable pricing, plus the availability to outsource some other services. I prefer the mom and pop shops over the big box for most things, especially when you know what you want, to get in and out, and not deal with crowds, plus you support your own neighbors and community. They always remember your face, even in my case with often long times between visits due to surgeries and mobility issues. I called 10 Th St Hardware to see if I could with my receipt come in and get two more for the two that shouldn't have died within a week and they told me that it was not in the return policy to take back any plants to die I find this so unacceptable. They are seasonal potted flowers and there was no reason for them to die. There was also no reason not to exchange them. I will not be returning to 10th St. hardware because of their customer service.
