I love this local hardware store! I am a divorced person who lives nearby in the neighborhood. I am an older lady (60) and a customer for 14 years. Everyone has always been very patient and kind and very helpful to me. I really appreciate how patient they are with me always. From cutting my Christmas tree to finding a small bolt size, they have always been kind and good to me. I appreciate this small business and am willing to pay a little more for items to keep them in business. Not having a husband, it's nice to know there are nice people out there willing to help me when I need a hand. read more

Besides the fact they almost never have what you need, but are willing to order it; I have been going there over 20 years to support small businesses. They aren't always friendly, but generally helpful, but my last visit took the cake! The owner treated me so rudely that I still can't get over it! First, when I said I knew where to find what I needed, he told me harshly "to stand there and don't move". When I followed him to say I needed something else too, he yelled, "I told you to wait there!" Then, when I was paying at check out, he came back and told me "stop talking to my staff and let them do their work". So, after I paid and was walking out the door I said to the person entering, "Watch out someone is in a bad mood today"; and then the owner really yelled at me. I'm 72, a woman, and he's a BULLY! I have been a resdienial client of J& J in Mount laurel for decades. This independant hardware stores provides a wide range of products from tools, hardware, gardening supplies including plants, fertilizer, seeds and mulch by the bag or delivered by the yard to your home. Tony (the owner) is always on top of things, friendly and even calls prople by their name. They are always my first choice for hardware and gardeing needs. read more

I went thru the negative reviews only to be shocked by the generally poor justification those customers have for J&J Hardware. Kristi, why didn't you go to Benjamin Moore, a specialty paint store right across the street? Come on Tony. If you just put paint brushes on the counter they would have rang them up. No one turns away a sale. You exposed yourself with your mouth and just maybe he's not starving so he tossed you out. I can tell you're not a Trump supporter. Matthew, one thing I noticed is that you're a price shopper in a small business. Then consider that a mulch sale to him is a "larger sale". I would have taken $4 and been surprised. If you want to deal go to someone who makes it themself and buy a tri-axle load. Next, you have no idea what's going on between the owner and the employee. Ignore that stuff. In my opinion, you folks are ignorant about what you're complaining about. J&J is a convenience sort of store, not Walmart. Give them a break. Today I will drive from Columbus to buy a little part for my Geo-Thermal Heating and AC unit. I lost it changing the filter. I know I will find some solution until I can do something more permanent. You may never again, in your life, be lucky enough to live so close to such a nice little hardware store. Enjoy being able to find stuff that's hard to find in other places and don't insult the owner.... understand that he's there to try the best he can to have every little do-dad you need so he and his employees have a job. The owner started off nice... I then decided not to buy painting after realizing they were missing a color I needed. I had brought the paint to the front and after just trying to buy the brushes he kicked me out of the store. Horrible way to do business and even worse customer service. JUST WOW! Talk about friendly & great service!!! My husband and I just moved into our home 2 months ago and the previous owners removed all the window screens. We've been so stressed over the damn screens because we knew our windows were custom to the builder and thought it would be a process to get new ones. We also have been having tons of issues with bugs getting in the house because of the no screens. We called J&J Hardware, spoke to Tony and within 1.5 hours of contacting them they had come to our home, taken measurements and took our order for 10 screens, at a price we felt was fair. In LESS THAN 24 hours John delivered the screens back to us!!! I seriously cannot have asked for any better service. I feel so fortunate to have found J&J Hardware. Tony and John, thank you SO MUCH. We are very upset that we were treated so rudely by our local hardware store. I have been going here for 12 years. Always buy garden supplies there. My husband came in to purchase top soul and mulch. The owner told me via phone that he would deliver. Then took it back. I will find another local garden store. Owner was rude and disrespectful towards my husband. read more

Great friendly service here. I personally like to give my business to the small mom & pop type stores over the Home Depots. Very customer service oriented. I didn't see anybody come through the door that wasn't immediately greeted with a smile. He even gave us a jump when battery died trying to leave. Will be back here again ! read more

My Father used to take me to J&J when I was a boy. I'm 75 now and still go to J&J. Convenient to my house and much quicker and cheaper than the big box stores. People there are knowledgeable and eager to help you no natter what your project So if you just need a roll of tape or your remodeling your home, J&J is the place to go. read more

This store is absolutely the best. It is small but it is very rare when they do not have what one needs. Moreover, it is a small privately owned hardware store and I am always amazed at how nice and friendly and helpful everyone always is. And their prices are competitive as well. When I bought my Weber grill, same price as Lowe's or Home Depot, they offered to deliver it for free; the young man who delivered it even helped me carry is around to bring it on the deck of my townhouse. There is a review on here that I guess yelp flagged as being inaccurate, but after my experience today with the owner of J&J Hardware, I am pretty confident that the post was inaccurately flagged. Up until today, I have only experienced dealing with the employee's at J&J (I've been a frequent customer for about 2 years now). I've recommended them to plenty of people. They "were" much more convenient, knowledgeable, and friendly then those at Lowes/Home Depot. All of the above changed today when I had experienced what the owner of this business is like. Saying that he is"Rude" just doesn't cut it.. I called them to get pricing on top soil delivery, at first a nice employee answered the phone.. I had asked how much the soil was, to which the owner got on the phone and said "hold on a minute I have a customer i'll be right with you". They must have thought that the phone was on hold or something, because all I heard was him degrading this employee about something unrelated to my call. He then got back on the call, told me "It's been a while since i've done this, im assuming you have gotten other prices so what other prices have you gotten for soil". I told him that I had gotten a price from another place, but that they had measured in "tons" rather than "yards" and I was unsure of the comparison. He told me soil isn't measured in yards, and asked for the name of the other place (which I told him). He then said he would be $4 cheaper per yard, and asked for my information to place the order. Considering how rude he was to both the employee, as well as myself, I said "I'll call you guys back once I decide". His response was "Why so you can call some other place for a price?" and hung up before I could even respond. I called back and he picked up, said something loud that I could only make out as gibberish, and then hung up. Now.. I understand that some might view the above and think that I was trying to bargain with them or something like that, but it was far from it. I literally was uninformed and just calling asking how much the soil would cost.. rather than get someone that offered customer service, I got someone that was berating an employee while a customer was on the phone, and then treating me like I was garbage. Still in shock from the above considering how much $ I've spent there, and how great the server was up until today. Personally, I won't be supporting this business any longer. read more

Just what every town needs. A genuine, old fashioned hardware store complete with all the things you need to solve problems that you can't find in the bigger stores and the help to know what is needed. I'm new to this area and the store was everything it was rated to be. They answered the phone in a very friendly way and took the time and care to make sure the needed product was in stock. Everyone there was very helpful and yet also allowed me to browse to my hearts content. All the reviews are true. I'll be going back here for all my needs even if the bigger store is just across the road. :) read more

Got a great deal on a Weber gas grill, they delivered it for free. Had it for 2 months now and love it. This is the first Grill I ever had that lets you regulate the flame and I had many Grills but this ones built like a tank. Great place to buy stuff. read more

This store has wonderful inventory and everything that you are looking for. However the owner is selfish, rude, foul mouthed, and down right inappropriate. Not only does He rip you off, He will lie and say whatever He needs to make a sale. The way He speaks to his employees is outrageous and disrespectful. Not so long ago I went into the store and was "greeted" by a woman sitting at the computer not even paying any mind to what was going on in the store. I asked her for assistance and she gave me a blank stare until another employee came to my assistance. I felt under appreciated and uncomfortable when I overheard the owner screaming at his employee.
