The staff were super nice and helpful when I visited recently. Unfortunately, the manager was not. I bought a dented can hoping for a slight discount since I'm on a tight budget and most people would avoid buying denting cans, so I was doing them a favor. When I got to the register the lady (super nice) tried to get the managers attention to ask for approval, but he was too busy watching the Phillies game to care. She had to raise her voice three times before he heard her - he was only 5 feet away!!! After she asked, he said no, and turned back to watch the game. He could tell moments after (probably between plays) that I was annoyed and asked if I wanted to switch cans, but I was so exhausted and frustrated that he cared more about the game than his customer, I just left. The discount didn't matter, what mattered was that he didn't care enough to pay attention when he was needed. Hope the stupid game (yeah, I said it) was worth losing a customer. read more

So far I've mostly come here to duplicate keys. It's a tiny version of a Lowes or Home Depot, and I'm not sure how the prices compare overall. They do seem to be rather busy at most times, so I guess that's a good sign. Their parking lot is small and I have no patience for making lefts onto Haddon Ave., but at least they have a lot! You'll find it right across the street from the Pour House, so that's a pretty good reason to stop in if you need some sort of tool, key, or household hardware product. Admittedly, I'm not very handy (at all), so this store doesn't appeal to me. I also feel like it smells bad, but I guess that comes with the territory. I do really like their key services and I'm sure I'll be back again the next time I need a fresh key. read more

DO NOT BUY BIG ITEMS HERE! Ace Hardware in Westmont DOES NOT backup the products they sell. I bought a snowblower that stopped working within 24 hours of me buying it. They would not let me return or exchange the item. I am told I have to go through Craftsman to get this repaired. It is sad they do NOT stand behind the products they sell. If you need to buy anything expensive (grill, chainsaw, lawnmower, SNOWBLOWER) do yourself a favor. Buy it from Lowes or Home Depot. They will let you return or exchange without issues. I want to support local business, but when they treat you like this I will shop elsewhere. read more

I usually love Ace stores - you're usually supporting local franchisees and in general, the quality of the goods are good quality. The problem can be staff, more specifically, not knowing enough or not giving enough information to make an educated purchase. I came in to try to figure out a BBQ gas grill set up, asked many many questions, and did not feel like I was given quite the right information. I even brought in the hardware in question to help solve the situation. Frustrating. read more

Ordered a Weber gas gril during their Memorial Day sale. A great experience from purchase to delivery. They even managed to deliver it a few days earlier than promised. Greg took his time when he delivered the grill and explained its many useful features. I've made many smaller purchases at Westmont Ace and have always been very satisfied with their service and prices. read more

To the reviewer on the snowblower. NOT TRUE! 1. Westmont takes care of any complaints. Sounds to me like you used it and just don't wantt o pay for it. 2. Depot does NOT take back snowblowers, etc. just like that! Depot has changed their return policys to keep people from taking advantage of them. Came to pick up an order during the coronavirus after receiving an email that my order was ready. I called into the shop to let them know I was here and the woman who answered the phone was frustrated because we arrived near closing (which I understand). I tried to give her all the information to clear up any issue and she became more and more rude. I didn't know what to do in response, but thankfully a gentleman came outside to help us. I was still on the phone with her however, giving her information until she HUNG UP ON ME. I know tensions are high right now, but I chose to shop at Ace to support a local business instead of buying it from Home Depot. Unnecessary anger during these challenging times. 3 Stars for the gentleman who understand how to work with people, and not just because they are customers. read more

These lights look nice up but after it had rained many of the strands had stopped working, we went back after Christmas to try to return and Billy the son of owner says he will not take them back . Buyer be aware do not buy from them . Cashier is grumpy old lady who never smiles even if you initiate a smile . Sorry I even bother shopping local to support Mom and Pop stores. Worried about how to sell poor products that do not even last . I will shop elsewhere in the future. read more

Normally I'm not inspired to write reviews of hardware stores, but I felt compelled to after a trip to Ace Hardware in Westmont today. My fiancee recently moved in with me and got a coupon for $5 off a $20 purchase from Ace as part of her welcoming package that arrived with the change of address forms from the US Postal Service. So naturally, if someone is getting this coupon as part of a move, you would think one of the things that they would need would be keys to their new place. I actually specifically went to this Ace, b/c I've had issues in the past with keys that I've gotten made at local Home Depot and Lowe's stores, but not with this Ace. Combined with the fact that its just over a mile from where I live, there was no reason for me to go elsewhere and I figured it would be a good chance to use the coupon, since I needed a bunch of keys made. I also bought a bottle of organic insecticide for the garden, which while overpriced, put me above $20 so it would almost be like I was getting that for free with $5 coming back. Only at checkout after my total was rung up, did they inform me that key-making is an "in-store service" and that such "services" are not included for the coupon. What a load of BS. I angrily paid for my items, even though I should have had the nerve to return the insecticide right there. From reading other reviews, I found out this a family owned place, but come on...it's still an Ace. Their prices are at least 50%-100% higher than Home Depot in Cherry Hill or Lowe's on White Horse Pike. The only reason I give them 2 stars instead of 1 is for their great customer service and the fact that things are much easier to find in a smaller store. They do have a pretty amazing amount of merchandise for a neighborhood hardware store. But I guess to maintain that variety of tools and parts similar to a larger hardware store, the prices become the premium you pay. $9 for a bag of Miracle-Gro potting soil?? You've gotta be kidding me. With prices like these, there's no reason they couldn't have honored the coupon. The only time I will *ever* go back to this place is if I'm in the middle of a job and need a piece or part urgently. Otherwise I'd rather go out of my way to pay MUCH less for the same stuff. read more

Nice little hardware store. I try my best to support local mom-n-pops. Even though Ace is a fairly large corporation (hardware cooperative), most Ace's are independently owned and operated by locals. This particular store has a nice facade/hometown feel to it. Some of the prices are more expensive then your big box retailers. On occasion, I have found certain hard-to-find items here that I could not find at other retailers. Besides going to a nursery and picking your own, I think Ace has the best selection of live Christmas trees (better than Home Depot). The prices for the trees are competitive. They bind the tree and put it on/in your vehicle for you (I can't remember his name but last year, the gent who helped us pick our tree was fantastic). I often use Ace to get keys duplicated. They also carry some cool BBQ/grilling gadgets. My only gripe is that a few of the women that work the register are less than friendly and seem haggard. Hmmm - This place is actually in Westmont, not collingswood, but close enough. A great family owned hardware store, this is one of the few places left where you can get beef jerky, a bar of lava soap, custom colored paint, an awl, rat poison (the good stuff), tubular light bulbs, a lawnmower blade, and pretty much anything else you can imagine. Home depot you say? Home depot doesn't carry the sheer variety they manage to squeeze into place. Heck, you can find stuff here that will have men in black suits showing up at your house. Don't screw with those men, as this place also sells everything you need for waterboarding too. Let's sasche away from such terrible talk and say that this is truly you're one stop spot. Usually not too crowded. As I've mentioned previously my house is 80+ years old, so I spend a lot of time in here picking up various items I need to keep the place in shape. The staff is friendly and helpful, (It's family owned), and there's always a strapping young lad to assist you loading your 300lbs of birdseed or whatever. Watch their hours, as they tend to close early on Sunday, but otherwise enjoy patronizing this old school hardware store! read more

I like this little local place and usually find what I want. The only thing is there's this mean woman who works there. Has never been friendly and seems likes she's looking for a fight. Whenever I go in, I try not to check out til she leaves the register or is "helping" someone else. Hey lady, maybe you should work in the back because you're not a people person. A nice store with fairly helpful staff, but don't try to get paint matched here. I guess their scanning equipment is out of date, by decades. I brought in some siding that was clean and asked for them to match it using their Clark & Kensington paint. The gentleman who waited on me was very pleasant, very helpful, but I noticed that after he scanned my siding and mixed the paint, he did not open the can to place a sample dot of paint on the lid to show that it had been matched perfectly. Sure enough, when I applied the paint to my house exterior, it was nowhere close as a match. I believe he knew his equipment isn't accurate because I had called a week before to see if they matched paint. Another man had answered and he crankily told me that he would not guarantee it would match, "100%". He was right. It was about a 60% match; in the same color family but as they say genealogically, twice removed. I had previously gone to big box stores and got perfect matches with their scanning, but I thought I'd give Westmont Ace try; a $22 mistake for a quart. This happened to me only once before, where a now out-of-business paint store said they could match my sample. That was in 1989. Guess Westmont Ace bought their old scanner. read more

I recently moved my business down the street from here. Instead of going to the Home Depot a little further to get some keys copied, I decided to check out the area and go to this store since it was local and seemed like a nice place. i received an attitude almost immediately from the woman behind the counter. She was completely rude and not helpful at all. It almost made me feel like I was bothering her for being there. She kept making sarcastic remarks to me, almost to antagonize me or something. I did not have a good experience. Next time I need something, I don't mind driving an extra mile or two to the Home Depot in Cherry Hill. read more

This store is great! The staff is friendly and helpful. I wanted to replace my gas grill and wasn't sure what model to buy. Cindy helped to direct my inquiries to the Don who helped me decide on the Webber Spirit NG. I didn't even have to go into the store to order as Cindy took care of it plus the delivery which was free. Don delivered, setup and moved my old grill in a skillful and pleasant manner. Everyone here is much nicer and more helpful than Home Depot which would have taken longer and cost more. I'm very happy to have found this store and will use again. read more

I want to like this place and they are generally friendly but every time I go there I wind up disappointed and have to go to Home Deport instead. I know it's a good thing to support local businesses and at Home Depot it can be a nightmare to find something but why should I waste my time here when I know 9 times out of 10 that they won't have what I want and that this was just a detour to Lowes or Home Depot. More parts and supplies here than one might expect to find in a neighborhood hardware store. Visited today for the first time and less than 30 seconds of coming in I had a friendly employee saying hello and asking me if I needed help. Try getting that at a Home Depot or Lowe's. Some here have mentioned higher prices here than found at other places. Maybe in their experience but not mine. Next time I need a part for a project I'll be back. read more

I know that Ace is a chain, but given the size, location, and the customer service it definitely feels like a local mom and pops hardware store. We stopped in recently for some paint and Chris in the paint department was more than helpful. This store has pretty much everything that Home Depot or Lowes has (minus the appliances and wood/masonry sections) and is so much easier to deal with than the larger stores. Definitely worth visiting if you need tools or materials for a smaller job. read more

I've been here a handful of times now for random items to complete jobs and every time I walk in there is someone there to say hi and what can I help you with. Every time. I've never actually wandered around this place because they take me right to what i need, every time. It's kind of a shame because hardware stores have all sorts of fun stuff and I just walk on in and they take me right to what I need! The prices aren't down and dirty cheap but I don't care when I can get in and exactly what I need, every time.
