We walked into town on our first night in Florence for the express purpose of imbibing in some adult beverages. I chose this pub because of its selection of craft beers and then consulted with the bartender on our preferences. My wife chose a pint of Sunshine Wheat from New Belgium Brewing. I went with a special, 23 ounce glass of Manny's IPA from Georgetown Brewing which was bargain priced at $4.50. Both turned out to be good choices, but we decided to go for the house wines on the second round to avoid filling up before dinner. Great little local pub!! We went here on a Sunday looking for Sunday football. It's really the only pub or sports bar in town. They had quite a few TVs but they didn't seem to get a lot of channels. We went for the 10am games so there were about 8 games on and they only got 1 of them. That was kinda a bummer. This is definitely a Seattle bar as well, of course :). They had a pretty good beet selection and offered flights of anything they had on draft. The flight samples seemed to be on the larger side. I don't know if it was the shape of the glass or what but it was a good sample size. We got their Cowboy sliders which were amazing!!! It comes with 3 sliders. We also got the Coconut Shrimp which was cooked perfectly and had a pretty unique Jalapeno sauce on the side. I would recommend both of those things! The staff was super friendly and everyone in the bar was pretty cool as well. It was a good mellow vibe. They have a pool table and a JukeBox in there too!! read more

Clam strips were rubbery and lacked flavor. The fried salmon was absolutely horrendous. Tasted very dry and fishy. The "world famous" clam chowder is definitely famous for leaving a serious salt slick in my mouth. Ordered the sliders and told them no mayo due to an allergy and of course they put mayo on the burgers because why wouldn't you when you don't comprehend simple instructions like no mayo due to allergy. Was also told that my to go order would take 20 minutes and I didn't get my order for 52 minutes. Slow service and terrible food would not recommend to anyone. They charge fresh fish prices for frozen garbage. Seriously avoid like the plague. read more

Didn't even get a chance to try and enjoy this venue. Saw the decent reviews online, but when we arrived all but one table was occupied and the not occupied table was stacked up with dishes and needing cleared. We had asked if it was going to be cleared and if we could take it. Unfortunately the hostess snapped at us not saying they would be serving anybody for over 45 mins and that they would not clear the table. The rude hostess and the lack of not wanting to work with us had us off to somewhere else that would appreciate our business. read more

Made three visits while here for a week camping. Great beer selection and a diverse and deep pub menu. Fabulous chowder and fresh "sea candy" for the cocktails and sandwiches. The place definitely caters to locals, but my wife and I were welcomed in even though we're clearly not locals. Ended off NYE at this neat little bar in town. The decor was pure PNW and the patrons were a good mixture of locals and tourists. Everyone got a glass to toast in the New Year before the countdown. The service was also prompt and friendly. Stop and admire the doors by the restrooms. I felt like a state park ranger. On top of that, I lost my makeup bag there at a certain point of the night and was convinced is was gone forever. Since we were leaving town the next morning (NYD) I figured they'd be closed and everything would have to be replaced. Not a good feeling. On a whim, JL called and said it was returned. We eat here even when it is not the Rhody weekend. They have great drinks, and great food. This weekend since it is the Rhody it is the happening spot, and great music with a wonderful live band! The place is so full I am sure it is almost to capacity. It is shoulder to shoulder. When it is a regular day it is quiet, and easy to get a seat. Love this place! read more

I definitely enjoyed my visit to the Beachcomber! Black Butte Porter on tap in a frosty pint glass (or five!). Delicious burgers and sides and a prime rib, grilled mushrooms, baked potato, salad special is about all it takes for me! The crowd was a mix of young and old locals and "tourists", all seeming to enjoy themselves. A great selection of microbrews and a full bar. Sports on multiple TVs. read more

Driving from Texas to Portland for a conference, decided to sightsee along the Oregon coast. Florence, Oregon is lovely. Although our budget was slim, we chose the fancy place only to find the tavern across the street, Beachcomber had same delicious items. Lower price too. Slightly lower, though much much more relaxed atmosphere. We had nothing but a positive feeling about the place. Perhaps business is suffering and staff is tired of the riffraff. For who knows why, Robert, the manager on duty, was entirely surly to us. Customer service severely lacking. We will NOT be back unless it's all that's open. Loved stopping in here on our drive back to San Diego. Beachcomber was exactly what we were looking for, very local vibe, clean, great selection of beers and quality food. We had the clam chowder, which was excellent. I had a shrimp cocktail, which I assumed would be prawn...but instead was a heaping pile of shrimp! Super fresh and probably much less expensive than some of the nearby seafood joints. I would love to come back and post up in The Beachcomber on a rainy afternoon. Stopped by for a few drinks after driving up the coast. The bartender was super friendly and the pours were great. We asked for recommendations and info about the area and he was happy to help us. We didn't get any food but after seeing what everyone else was eating, we'll probably stop by on our way back down through the area. Everything looked tasty and the atmosphere was nice. read more

Being in the industry for over 30 years, I am telling you, this place is way over priced for the quality of food and services at this dive bar. It wouldn't be so bad if the service was extraordinary, but it's far from it. This is sad because there are really nice folks that work here. My family and I refuse to step foot into this place anymore after we witnessed a young gal, apparently the owners daughter, treating pleasant customers horribly, on several separate occasions. We asked some of the locals what's with her attitude, and several people exclaimed, "she doesn't give a shit." So we asked several neighbors about this, and all the responses were negative. She doesn't belong in the service industry, and I refuse to bring my happy family and friends to an establishment to spend our hard earned money for this kinda garbage. Note, this gal was nice to me. It had been years since we had been here. We loved it last time but this time it was very disappointing and it's doubtful we would return. I ordered a rueben which was very greasy which had a small amount of tough dry greasy. The meat was awful because it had been grilled prior to being placed on the bread . It's probably the worse Rueben i have had. My husbands chicken sandwich was good especially the bun. Our server was nice but we didn't see her much due to business. I agree with other reviewers that they're over priced which i don't mind if the food is good. Unfortunately that's not the case so i can no longer recommend it. read more

Incredibly rude! No kids menu. My husband, son and I were sitting outside planning to eat lunch there. My son had a few chicken nuggetts left from another establishment and we were told that outside food was not allowed. Manager came out to rudely tell us we needed to leave and she didn't care if she lost our business. Apparently this establishment just isn't kid friendly. Can't rate the food but zero stars for customer service. read more

This is where the locals hang out in Florence. Don't be offended if you walk in and you're not seated or acknowledged right away, just give the staff a minute and they'll soon realize you're not a local and help you out. If you come at dinner time, the kitchen can get really backed up and the wait times might be 1-2 hours. Great selection of beer though and the food selection isn't too bad. The clam chowder here is probably some of the best I've had in Oregon, creamy with lots of clams! The garlic toast that comes with it is also yummy and hearty, it's just toast with butter but it's oh so good. I also tried a burger from here and I would actually recommend skipping the burger. They do bake their buns in house but the buns are dense and not great, I usually prefer more of a brioche style bun that's soft and fluffy. All in all, I would maybe come here again with friends or coworkers, but it's not my go to place in Florence, OR. read more

Went here with my family, our two kids are 2.5 and 10 years and before we even sat down the server came ourt and rudely informed us they had no restroom for minors. This was 4 pm in the afternoon. In my opinion, if a restaurant seats kids outside they need to allow them to come in to use the restroom if it's not after 8 pm. While I walked our daughter to the public restroom my partner heard the server shit talking us to the bartender. When I got back from the restroom and heard that experience I went to find the server to tell her we were leaving because of poor service. As soon as I told her she whipped around and loudly told the bartender again. We used to go to this location as a family, sat inside and had the best experience ever. Needless to say I am BEYOND disappointed with this experience and we will never be back again. Im sad the change of ownership has resulted in poor customer service. Good luck going here, and for the server who treated us like shit, if you're gonna talk shit, talk in a way the customer can't hear better yet, do NOT be in customer service!! read more

Second visit here. The place locals frequent. Good bad and ugly. Some look and smell like they have just been released from jail. . .service is great, beer cold. The pub has TV's to watch your favorite game. Right on the main drag in downtown. read more

Best clam chowder in Florence. We love the awesome clam chowder!! We will drive from Eugene to Florence for lunch when we crave this meal! Better then the place across the street that boasts the best chowder in Oregon. Plus this bar had local favor and is comfortable. The beer and cocktail list is good. They have a shuttle board game, decent sized tv's and lotto. Service is slow unless you're a local. Smells a bit greasy and the bar towel was smelly. just saying they could step up there game. read more

Nice bar, good cider, but above all we were really happy to find a place in such a convenient location that could host a group on a Friday evening at 8pm. We had never been here before, and picked it based on Yelp reviews. When we stopped by in the afternoon they immediately offered to reserve us a table, and once we showed up with 10 people, they added more tables. Around the time we left (10pm) the place started getting busier, but it was perfect for a group of friends at 8pm! It seems like a place that has a lot of regulars, but the bartenders are always incredibly friendly and attentive when we come in. I'm a huge fan of the atmosphere of this place.
