Worked our way over from Crater Lake to the coast and needed some dinner before arriving at our final destination. We ended up at the Beachcomber Pud on Florence, OR, because they had the best beer selection. Well, to our surprise they also had some good food. I got the chicken, bacon, ranch na'an flatbread which was loaded with chicken and a bunch of yummy cheeses. Very delicious! And my friend got the clam chowder which she loved. Food was decent. Fries were good and edible. Tator tots were cold and over cooked. Atmosphere was laid back and chill. Beer was cold and delicious. Pretzel and cheese I would give a one star as the pretzel was definitely one that came from the frozen section at Costco and the cheese was out of a can. Can definitely tell that it was a local hang out as that was predominantly who was there. Swiss mushroom burger was decent. I had what was called Jameson bacon burger and it was a 3/5 burger. I don't know how a comfortable bar with a great casual atmosphere managed to make a cobb salad to die for, but they did. So much bacon. So much bleu cheese. I could barely finish it, it was hyuge. The rest of our food was fantastic as well. Portions are hearty, quality of food was Way above what I was expecting, prices weren't bad for the location, and the drinks were tasty and well poured. That wasn't even close to my favorite part. I mean the sportsball playing on easy-to-see-from-any-angle-screens was great, made for a fun atmosphere because the folks watching were happy and into it, the service was fast and efficient, the tables and bathroom were clean, and the chairs were comfortable. But my favorite part? The Most Sassy Waitress EVER. All of the wait staff was upbeat and snarky and I loved them, but ours was the sassiest. Worth every cent. I was pretty broken down after the holidays and just wanted a drink and a snack in a grownup space. We stayed way later than I meant to and my spirits were definitely higher walking out the door. We came in last night for a quick dinner at 6:30. Ordered fish and chips and a chicken sandwich. The food was good but the fries were cold and soggy even though we ordered crispy fries. It took over ONE hour after we ordered to get our food. The service was poor our server was crying behind the bar and not paying attention. We asked for a to go box and the check. The reason for this review. The waitress never charged us for our food only our drinks. Being a former bar owner this disturbs me. Employee giving away food for a big tip. The atmosphere was small home-town and welcoming. The battered and hand dipped onion rings were out of this world delicious. The only negative was our waitress lied to us and said they do not have beer flights. We were disappointed as we wanted to try a variety of different beers they have on tap. The next time we went we had a different waitress and she said they definitely have beer flights. Not a good feeling about the first waitress we had. Stopped for lunch. Not too many customers. Put our orders in, got our drinks. However, nothing was mentioned about the food we ordered. After waiting about an hour for the food, we finally asked about where our food was. We were rudely told that they only have 2 cooks and that the wait was due to all the customers they had in the front seating area. Mind you, when we walked in, there were maybe 2-3 tables. As we were walking out, we saw the tables filled, but all of them had food. The waiter even said they hadn't started our order yet but then said that she couldn't cancel that much food that we ordered, which made no sense to me. We have been coming here for over 15 years. The food and the service have always been great, with the exception of a less-than-ideal bowl of clam chowder on one occassion, which seemed like a thinned down cream of mushroom soup. Other than that, we always love their food. They have a great selection of beer on tap, and the servers have always been great. read more

The waiter was blatantly just extremely rude. Opened up by asking for ids which isn't the issue. They followed by making extremely inconsiderate comments to my partner about their age appearance and ID before even giving us the opportunity to hand them over. Rather then just asking for the id and leaving it at that. She proceeded to state that "She doesn't look over 21 at all!" In a very snarky manor. Mind you not a single person in our party commented or disputed the request, so the comment was completely unnecessary and just said out of the blue. Rather than just politely asking us to leave when we stated one of us didn't have our id on us, she was extremely passive aggressive and rude in her dismissal of us. Not sure what kinda service comes in very accusatory but I will NEVER be visiting again. Not even a chance after that experience. I have been coming to this bar for 40 + years, a local!! I am very aware how the front should run!! But it doesn't anymore, its a free for all!! When I watch my food sit in the window and the door is open!! My server looked at it and walked away to take another order at the bar, it upsets u!! And of course my food was cold and my bloody Mary's wasn't even mixed!! Over a hundred bucks!! I paid for my meals turned to put 3 pennies down for the service she said don't do that, I said as there dropping onto the table you should gave me atleast decent service u didn't even mix my drinks and cold food,she said I was kicked out!! Food was good but service was poor. The only time the server had a nice thing to say was when she handed us the bill and expected her tip. The rest of the time she seemed overwhelmed. When people would ask for an item, she would look annoyed and verbally said "Jesus" was she walked back into the establishment (we were sitting outside). One other worker came out to drop something to a table and she looked just as unhappy. Could have just been a bad day, but when you start off with your server saying "don't expect your food for an hour" it doesn't make a great impression. We came up from San Francisco on a road trip from South Dakota. We had clam chowder at every stop and the clam chowder at Beachcomber's was by far my favorite! It was so flavorful and creamy! I was so amazed by this creative menu and the quality of the staff! Loved very sip and bite! Came off hiking in the area where I picked fresh huckleberries and their huckleberry hard seltzer was amazing! Tasted like huckleberries and not sweet. Well, darn. I've been going to the Beachcomber for years. Was there at the end of August for lunch. I had the fish tacos. They used to be so good. Not so much anymore. They were soggy, no tomato, under cooked tortillas and the cost was $8 per taco. No sides. Weird and gross! The bartender talked about how much of a B**ch she was and the smell in the restaurant was rancid. No class, no atmosphere, not going back. Sad. read more

In our travels today we tried this place because of the beer bottle decor from ceiling . Getting our food was not great. 1/2 hour wait for our chowder and waitress drops it. Replaces it with lukewarm chowder but didn't want to wait again so we ate it. 1/2 hour later we're asking when our sandwiches are coming. Never made them!! Best burger! I had the inferno burger and I have no complaints! It's spicy and flavourful! Everything. You would expect from a good burger, IMO! With my burger I had the side salad with house dressing. I was pleasantly surprised by the house dressing. I asked the server what she suggested and it did not disappoint. Tried this place out on busy memorial weekend and was excited for the beer selection. I was greeted by a warm staff member right away and sat down. Another waitress asked if I wanted a menu in the most annoyed way possible and responded by dropping the menu off and leaving with no introduction or greeting. She walks back over asks if we are ready to order. We tried to explain that we were thinking about moving to another table because of how dark the area we were sitting was and we're going to ask about the beer but before we could finish our sentence she storms off. At that point we were hoping she was a bit overwhelmed so decided to brush it off. After we sat down closer to the door where it was better lit she checked in on us again and asked if we were finally ready. We were and when we tried to ask about the beer menu she responded that they only had five beers on tap that was on a white piece of paper in red and we had to go off of which was posted at the bar before leaving immediately. We tried to ask her a question as she was leaving and she snapped saying to not ask about anything unless it was on the paper. It felt like another staff member who I presume was the bartender tried to elaborate much better than the waitress had and although I appreciate her for filling in for what the waitress was unable to I had enough of the waitresses rudeness and left. We had four interactions before she finally communicated the tap was broken and it was very unprofessional and rude. I have no problem with technical difficulties you guys were experiencing with the tap I get it. It would not have stopped me from eating there. To the waitress with the pink hair I understand it was a busy weekend but your attitude and your professionalism does not fit in with the Florence restaurants we enjoyed that weekend. read more

I was in town visiting my home there and didn't have a place to watch the World Series so went looking for a friendly bar to watch it Monday night. This place was recommended to me by the waitress at Restobar where I had dinner. I had a great time watching the game, had a good mai tai and the male bartenders were so nice and after I declined a 2nd drink, they offered me water. The next night which was Tuesday night, wow what different treatment!, The bartenders changed and there were 2 young ladies tending bar. I sat down and was pretty much ignored. I finally called out and asked If I could get a drink and finally they gave me one. The place was not that busy either. I ended up chatting with a nice person next to me. I had finished my drink. The bartenders asked every single person at the bar if they wanted another one or anything else. I was obviously passed by like I was invisible. I felt like they were treating me like a bum! I'm 70 years old and for these young ladies to be so rude was really upsetting. I love the bar and the guy bartenders the night before were so pleasant that I expected the same treatment the next night. I just wanted to find a friendly place to watch the game and chat with other people so I did not have to watch it alone. I will be back, but I will only peek in and if I see the guy bartenders, I'll be glad to order again there. read more

Stopped by to get take out while we were crabbing on the docks. This is a usual thing for us. What was unusual for us was the wait. We ordered 4 bowls of clam chowder and a side salad. We waited over 45 minutes!! We were told there was a large order in front of us. Not ok. It's not hard to put some soup in cups and let us be on our way. The soup was delicious. It's got big hunks of potatoes and clams as it's served with garlic bread. Not sure it's worth a 45 minute wait tho. read more

Loved this gem of a place!! It was Memorial Day weekend and the place was busy but the service was still great. The food was surprisingly really good for pub food. If you like the clam chowder at the Chowder Bowl on Nye beach then you won't be disappointed with the chowder here!! Also I found the fish and chips to be very good. The fish pieces were large and very flaky inside. The batter was crisp light not think and dripping with oil. We will definitely come back again and suggest this place to others! read more
