My stop at the Beachcomber cafe had as much to do with my morning walk as my desire for coffee. They open before every store or restaurant along Gower Point Road 7am so that was a factor as well. The inside was so lovely, with plenty of natural light from the big front window and decorated with lots care and "non-corporate" uniqueness...just what I like from a cafe experience. Also, there are several tables available to do a little work as well as outside(front) seating. I simply had a large coffee with a fritter to go, that left me a little disappointed as the coffee was insipid, in other words it wasn't full flavored and strong(dark roast) as I like and the fritter was not particularly fresh. Since I didn't stay, I only got a glimpse of the vibe which was great. I wish I had more time to take it all in. read more

Stopped by Beachcomber Coffee while exploring Gibsons, and I really liked the vibe of the place: bright, laid-back, and very "Sunshine Coast." I ordered the iced Canadiano, which was smooth, bold, and refreshing; definitely a fun twist if you're into iced espresso drinks. That said, the service was incredibly slow. There wasn't a huge line, but it still took quite a while to get our drinks. It's the kind of place where you'll need to have a little extra patience, especially during busier times. Nice coffee shop in downtown Gibsons. The plus point is the opening hours. It opens at 7 am which is great for the morning risers and those coming in on the first ferry from Horseshoe Bay. The menu is simple. Coffee, sandwiches and some breakfast wraps. The highlight will be the donuts and baked goods. I had a flat white and apple fritter. Such a cute cafe right in the heart of Gibsons! We stopped by here for a morning coffee and the service was so fast! The staff were all very nice and the coffee was great as well. Be still, my heart. If you are a coffee connoisseur, this place is a must visit. Locally based, Beachcomber offers coffee that's roasted in small batches. They've also got patio seating, which is perfect when you're wanting some fresh air amidst the whole pandemic nightmare. My friends and I ended up ordering some dark roast drip coffee and maaaan, when they say dark roast, they mean DARK ROAST! The Beachcomber Dark has an incredible kick and the dark chocolate and caramel flavours pair so well with an old fashion doughnut. If you like adding cream or sugar to your coffee, Beachcomber offers the usual classics as well as dairy alternatives such as oat or soy, which was awesome. We ended up buying some beans to take with us, because although we were also told that their coffee could be found at groceries stores in the lower mainland, this was the first time we had come across them. Absolutely love, love, love! Will definitely visit again the next time I'm in town. read more

First time to the Sunshine Coast. We stayed not far from this coffee place. The atmosphere was really laid back and we liked it. The store front got ample sunlight which was a big plus. Coffee was good. The girls work there were friendly and quick. We tried the breakfasts sandwiches for a couple of days. All of us (there were 8) liked it - age 8 the 80! Nice coffee and drinks. Their canned ice tea is made from coffee coffee leaves, which sustainable and delicious because it's not sweet. Their donuts are yummy. AMAZING COFFEE!! Visited Beachcomber Coffee Co. in Gibson's recently on a weekend away from Vancouver. Stopped in to get an Americano from this stylish coffee shop. Wow was that Americano great! I'd go as far as saying it's the best Americano I've ever had. Looking forward to my next visit to Gibson's and can't wait to grab a coffee there. Love the coffee shop too. It's so stylish and the Sunshine Coast Vibes branding is hip and cool. Met the Manager/owner when I was there. He was a friendly guy, enthusiastic about the brand and product and rightly so. Nice coffee, but the service is horrible! Huge attitude from the staff and trying to get information from them about the food felt like pulling teeth. We ordered "breakfast sandwiches" at 8:45am and there were none left..? So we ordered "brunch wraps" and they came out luke warm and tiny. The veggie wrap was decent enough (only thing I had) but the place, decor, vibe and view were wonderful. The gals working there were absolute sweet hearts not only when I walked in but to everyone who walked through the door. I really wonder if a small town like Gibsons can support yet another coffee place. Nevertheless, we tried The Beachcomber recently and were pleasantly surprised. The place is fresh and clean, the semi-view location in lower Gibsons is fabulous, and the staff were friendly and efficient. Also our coffees were excellent and it was nice to see they offered coconut milk. We tried a latte and a cappuccino, both were better than 95% of the stuff we get on the Coast. As to suggestions for possible improvements, the selection of baked goods is very limited right now, and there is nothing for the dairy or gluten free crowd. Also, the coconut muffin I tried was not a wow, not did it taste fresh. With so much competition in fresh local baked goods, this is something that would benefit from attention. read more
