This is a simply must stop and enjoy a fresh made to order breakfast. The service is slow, we easily waited 20 minutes or more both times we went but the food was worth the wait. We liked it so much after the first time we came back the next day. My husband loved the avocado toast, I indulged in the granola and fruit desert. I love the Beachcomber. As a local, I love their breakfast offerings and their tasty mimosas. Bonus points to their dog friendliness. They have fresh water and bowl on hand for dogs, and today when I had trouble accessing the spigot due to folks being seated next to it, the owner provided me with free water for my little dog (much appreciated after a long walk). Loved the food here. It is super healthy and pretty tasty too. We ordered the bean bowl with poached eggs and a wonderful salad. The eggs were poached perfectly. Only criticism was that the whole dish could have used a bit more seasoning. My husband's salad was amazing and they were nice enough to give him both of their special dressings on the side so he could try them both. Really good salad dressings: one was tahini based and the other based on sunflower butter I believe. The major issue is that it is super popular. We were on our way up the coast and stopped at the Beachcomber for a quick breakfast after leaving Eureka. My wife found it on Yelp, and it looked like a good find, especially since there's not really much between Eureka and the Oregon border. A small place about two blocks from the ocean, it has some outdoor seating and can seat about 15-18 people (tightly) in the small dining room inside. They had some customers, but it wasn't packed. The nice woman taking orders helped us navigate the menu and took our orders. We paid, filled our coffee cups and found a table in the small dining area. Our food took a bit to arrive, but it did get busy after we ordered and there were only two employees working. They delivered our breakfast, but forgot my boy's hot chocolates. She apologized and brought them fairly quickly afterwards. I ordered the "Griz" breakfast bagel and it was good. The bagel was a bit rubbery, but everything else about it was delicious. All of our bagels were a bit rubbery, which was a bummer, but everything else was great. The coffee was really good. All in all, I liked the Beachcomber and I'd go back...unless there's a better breakfast place in the small town of Trinidad, which I highly doubt. The poached eggs were perfect- I'd imagine the eggs are rises locally because of the dark golden yolks- also got the homemade Marion-berry jam. We stopped in for brunch. Everything we tried was delicious and we even got some naked good to bring home for later. We have the snooty hippie sandwich and the lox special. The sandwich was very flavorful and I especially loved the sauce and the fresh baked focaccia bread. My husband was disappointed that they had run out of the english muffins but enjoy6hisblox special on the focaccia bread. Stopped here by chance when on a road trip and now I hope to find a reason to drive up to this place again. This place has the best lox I've ever had and the Mexican mocha was perfectly spiced. Stopped at the Beachcomber Cafe on our way to the Redwood National & State Parks. We ordered two of the Snooty Hippie sandwiches for our hike, a gluten free brownie with blackberries (I'm not gluten free, but it was delicious!!), a blackberry scone, and a light roast coffee. They don't have disposable coffee cups (love it), so we paid a couple bucks extra for the mason jar. They ran out of the smaller ones, so we had to get a 32 oz. It actually turned out perfectly because we needed lots of energy for our 13 mile hike. The food was phenomenal, the coffee was the best light roast I've had in years, and the staff was friendly and kind. Best. Breakfast. Ever. I wish I could give this place 10 stars! I'm from Portland and I'm used to good gluten free options, but this place takes the cake! The gluten free bagel was fantastic. It was actually the size of a regular bagel, plus it was thick and chewy like bagels are supposed to be. The staff are so sweet, and they helped me make my own bagel sandwich. GF bagel, fantastic oven roasted turkey, rich white cheddar, and the best poached eggs on the planet (I don't even normally like poached eggs) made me one happy customer. I wish I lived nearby so I could come back more often! The coffee is great too. My boyfriend got the "basic breakie" with a side of turkey and was just as happy as I was with my food. My husband and I stopped here for breakfast on our Oregon to California road trip. We drove up from McKinnleyville for this spot and it was so worth it. We both had the specials. He had the turkey/spinach frittata and I had the savory scone with poached eggs and chimmy churry sauce. The food exceeded expectations. Quality ingredients and made with love. This place is way too cute. The food & coffee are amazing, Everything Is fresh and organic. Staff is always super friendly. Twice while traveling up the coast I have camped in my van nearby just so I would be able to go here for breakfast. They DO NOT have paper cups for coffee .... This place is committed to reducing waste! I brought my own cup, as always! It definitely could do a little better on the gluten-free tip. The fresh baked goods and breads look so darn good but I generally avoid gluten. They do have a a few gluten-free things but it's not a gluten-free kitchen so it's not good for people with a genuine allergy. However, this gluten-free bread with my breakfast is amazing! And it came with a pile of fresh sunflower sprouts and microgreens. I am impressed. read more

If you're looking for the most eco friendly cafe in California, Beachcomber Cafe is the place to be. With a quick walk to a beautiful lookout point, this cafe has it all. There is no trash in order to not have any plastic waste. They do NOT have any to go containers to limit waste. Our food was put in to the top of an egg carton for easy disposal. What a great little breakfast niche! The food is organic and local. I guess some other yelpers have an issue with that because it "limits" the selection on the menu, but I actually prefer locally grown food. This place is fantastic for vegetarians. I can honestly say that I've had one of thee best panini here. As for the drinks, if you're teetering between the chai and Mexican hot chocolate, go for the latter. The chai isn't milk based, so it lacks flavor. A few other yelpers also complained about waiting a while for their food, but we didn't have that experience. This isn't a fast food joint and we understand that preparing delicious food takes a hot minute :) This place is environmentally friendly, and has that laid back and er, hippie-ish feel, and I love that! I am slightly obsessed with the Beachcomber Cafe. I don't even know where to start. This little gem was the highlight of a 30+ hour roadtrip down the coast that stretched from Portland to LA. We stopped in Trinidad to check it out and find something to eat, and the Beachcomber Cafe stuck out with its bright orange exterior and chill vibe. Upon entering, my three companions and I were welcomed immediately. The cashier asked our names and remembered them, had opinions to share about different items on the menu, and was extremely friendly. Besides the excellent service, the food was delicious. And I'm not just saying that because all I had eaten for three days was fast food. I ordered a turkey sandwich and I promise I'm not exaggerating - it was the best turkey sandwich I've ever had. They kept it simple, like it should be, but added flair in all the right places. Perfect proportion of meat to foccacia to veggies. YUM. Boyfriend had the special of the day which turned out to be some sort of stew with black beans, poached eggs, and avocado. It was great, but I liked my sandwich better. Our two friends both had bagels with lox - also very tasty. The best part? It was all organic and very fresh. I also enjoyed how homey it was. They had a guitar that anyone could pick up and play, as well as walls decorated with paintings and pictures made by elementary schoolers from the school across the street. Overall, if you're in the area, do not leave without stopping at Beachcomber. If you're close to Trinidad, find a way to get there. read more

One of the best places to get a bite on the Lost Coast or North Coast. I'm sorry I didn't discover it sooner. They've got a coffeehouse vibe: order at the counter and find a table. The food options are good. They use really good bread and fresh ingredients. My panino had Cypress Grove chevre, beets, fresh greens, walnuts and more. My companion had a sandwich with tasty hummus and avocado. They served our sandwiches with samples of the coconut-curry-carrot soup, which was delicious. Both the regular menu and the board of specials & soups made it hard to choose what to order; that's a rare and good thing for me. As others have said, they have a commitment to reducing waste. So for to-go drinks, you either bring a commuter mug or buy a mason jar with lid for a buck. If you stay, you can either take a mug from the counter or bring your own from home. I like that. There were people hanging around outside and inside, with lots of locals who knew each other, catching up. Staff were equally friendly to everyone, though, and we felt welcome. If I lived here, I'd be a regular. When I'm headed down the 101 from Crescent City, I'll find an excuse to stop here. The baked goods looked great. read more
