the fact that the beach break cafe is always packed and has long wait lines on most weekends is a testament to it's greatness. our first attempt to visit was a fail because we didn't realize that they closed at 2:00pm and they were closed, but today success:) the interior is very beach and surf which suits oceanside perfectly. with surf footage playing on tv's and surfboards hanging from the ceiling the atmosphere is very stimulating and interesting in a laid back kind of way and i just loved the way the ladies bathroom was decorated. friendly service, a menu with many options, and good food will keep you coming back. read more

This was our first time here. One word...amazing! The corned beef hash was excellent. It's the best I've had. My husband is not a corned beef hash fan but he liked this. I went there on a Sunday. Place was super packed. Waited about 30-40 minutes. Anyway my wife's entrée Corn beef hash and potatoes was 5 star delicious! I gave three stars because the Spicy Chicken Omelet was just totally bland. The menu description sounded as if it would be tasty...but it was so bland that I had to add table salt. The food was good as was the service- no complaints. The potatoes were the red skin type and had a different taste, I'll order hash browns next time. Portions were massive and the menu had a great variety of options. The patio is dog friendly. One got loose and ran into the restaurant which sent a young waitress chasing after it......lol. Walked in right at the peak of breakfast hour and we were greeted most graciously by the owner and immediately seated. The food was served in a timly manner and it was out-of-this-world delicious! My husband had his favorite, corned beef hash and eggs and this isn't anything out of a can -- This is 'hand-made' home cooked with big pulled strips of beef you could see cooked with onions and spices and it was very good. Yeah, it was good...but not 'blown away' good. Service was great, and despite it being crowded, we sat in about 5 minutes. I ordered the ABC omelet and it was good, but not spectacular. After reading more reviews, I wish I would have ordered the Banana Nut French Toast, but maybe the next time we're in the area. My wife ordered the Chicken Enchilada omelet which I thought was much better; good taste, good portion size. But definitely good enough to warrant a second trip sometime! I have been coming to Beach Break since my high school boyfriend washed dishes there as a summer job over 15 years ago. Nothing has changed the food is amazing the service is friendly and even though it has a cult following now they still manage to serve you coffee and keep you entertained with the surf movies and memorabilia while your table frees up. Very friendly and very helpful. Expect a wait if your going late in the morning especially on the weekend. This place is popular and very well worth it. Prices are average. Juice is very fresh tasting. Food is awesome. The serving sizes are huge, the presentation is nice. If you have the option between toasts and bread. You must go with the coffee cake. It truly melts in your mouth and is the greatest coffee cake there is. I am very impressed with this place. I truly do not give out 5 stars with ease. Best breakfast place in Oceanside IMO. The only downside to this place is closes at 2 pm. which makes it hard for me to get there due to me living in Belmont Shore. Saw the reviews and decided To come here on our way thru to San Diego. We waited about 30 mins for a table which Isnt bad for a Saturday and on Pch. We got a table out in the patio. Our waitress Leandra took out drink order pretty fast. We got our drinks and we didn't get straws, waited about 5 mins till I had to ask another waitress for straws. Leandra took our order got out food pretty quickly. Leandra didn't ask I we needed anything else. We had to ask her to refill our kids orange juice she never bothered asking if we didn't need anything else and if we asked looks like it would bother her. I order the same thing every time, a beach break burger with cajun fries and it's THE best burger around. Ok, I have had the mouth watering coffee cake too. A must when in Oceanside. Come here all the time for breakfast before going to Legoland with the family. Great food with reasonable prices. Kids love the pancakes and French toast.
