Sunday family brunch was a good one and if you know how busy Beach Break Cafe can be on the weekend, you know it is worth the wait but to plan ahead to have someone arrive early to put your name in. We got a table in their back patio since we had our dog with us because we were planning on going on a long walk after breakfast. After reading reviews I needed to try the coffee cake and it lived up to the hype. My mom and I shared it and it was super delicious and if you know our family we also got a pancake for the table. I decided to go for the eggs benny because it is my usual breakfast if I am dining out. It was pretty good but my goodness we had so much food I was so full we ended up taking half of it home along with half of my husbands for breakfast the next day. We have been going there for years so it was fun to get the family together to enjoy!
I saw this place have many good reviews so I decided to go, although when I got there I realized I already have eaten here. The restaurant is ok and the food ok, I was expecting much more. We ordered: Awesome Omelette. 1 Egg Plate with chicken fried steak.- really bad, I asked the server if it was ground chicken and she asked the chef and said it wasn't but it was It was very salty too. Very disappointed.
Loved this place! Do not get discouraged when there is. Lot of people outside/inside waiting to be seated. Our name was called not too long after being put on the list. The food was great! There are a ton of options. We went with the traditional pancakes, hashbrown, scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage' it did not disappoint! Customer service was exceptional! We will be returning when we are in town! I really enjoyed the different cups of coffee they serve. It makes the location feel homey and welcoming!
This is a very, very impressive place. See all those people waiting outside? Wait until you get inside and see TWICE as many people waiting. Don't let the wait deter you. Get over here. We waited about 25 minutes on a holiday weekend and the food and service were well worth the wait. Our server knew the menu inside and out and made great suggestions. The Corned Beef Hash and Eggs is outstanding. You get an absolute ton of fantastic fresh corned beef, homestyle potatoes, and eggs. If you like corned beef, you simply must order this dish. You get a side with it and I ordered the excellent and very moist coffee cake. The Killer Burrito is monster-sized. It comes with ground beef, chilies, eggs, and other goodies. It is not a traditional breakfast burrito and I was a little nervous about the ground beef but as far as flavor goes, it was very good. The Greek omelet was not my personal favorite (and I didn't order it) but it came as delivered, with spinach, onions, feta cheese, and more. We tried this one with a potato pancake. The pancake is not a traditional one but it still had a lot of flavor. Personally, I preferred the homestyle potatoes. If it is appropriate for your meal, ask for the fresh salsas. They are fantastic. The hype is real. This is very good food and someone gave some real thought to these dishes. Maybe come at a slightly off dining hour to avoid or lessen the wait.
Super cute cafe, decorated with surf memorabilia, just felt like one of those spots where you'd see the locals hang out. Service was good, our food came out relatively fast. Coffee was the usual diner coffee, no complaints, I knew what I was getting and liked every sip. Food was pretty good, had the vegetarian omelette, was loaded with veggies and good, but the salsa I got on the side was a welcomed addition. The country potatoes were really good, lots of food though, enough for leftovers probably. Would recommend , great breakfast place.
Absolutely amazing food here by the beach! The Beach Cafe for Breakfast is the best place to eat. Try the Awesome omelette, it's to die for. Their coffee cake is stellar. Their Mimosas are a bit small. Only 8 ounces. But overall, it's a must stop for delicious food.
This place is wonderful. Service is always great. Food is always tasty and they have a number of spicy items which appeals to my particular pallet. They have two homemade salsa, one that is like a salsa Fresca and the other that is called harbor salsa, which is made with habaneros. I of course get the second one. I put Harbor salsa on everything. If you come here Monday through Friday, they usually have a daily deal. It's just less expensive and it comes with two sides. Today I had the sausage and cheese scramble with hashbrowns and biscuits. It's always very full so it could be a little noisy, but that's just like any restaurant. One of the two owners is almost always on site so if you ever have something that isn't up here liking they will address it.
We were on our way to San Diego and stopped at Beach Break Cafe for a quick breakfast. The menu has plenty of options, including all the classic breakfast favorites. I ordered the Santa Fe omelet, and it was delicious. They added a generous amount of chorizo and cheese. My wife ordered the Crunchy Banana French Toast, which was good, but it wasn't my favorite. The restaurant has a fun beach-town atmosphere with surfboards decorating the walls. The service was friendly and attentive, and I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly our food arrived. Overall, we had a great experience, and it's a great spot to stop for breakfast if you're passing through the area.
Post 5k run we wanted to celebrate with breakfast and decided Beach Break Cafe was the spot! I was very excited to try the banana crunch French toast. I love bananas and french toast, so this was the perfect choice. It was sweet but not sickeningly sweet. The bananas were very ripe, but I personally enjoy them this way. The crunch looks to be an oat and crushed nut mixture? I wasn't too sure but it was delicious nonetheless. Everything tasted very good, I enjoyed my side of hash browns, however I prefer them to be a little crunchier. They tasted great regardless. I will say they were superrrr busy, so do expect to wait if you go on a weekend morning. I think they might use bleach to clean the tables, which I'm glad they disinfect between patrons but the table smelled like bleach the whole time, so if that's something that bothers you, maybe ask to sit inside? I think the tablecloth material just holds onto scent idk. Service wasn't the best either, but they were packed so I understand. The workers were nice, we came at an awkward time where they were switching waitstaff for breaks and whatnot, so I think we kinda got forgotten once our food came out lol it took a while to get the check
The portions were insanely massive. Maybe order to share? The wait wasn't too bad but we went closer to closing. Service was nice and pleasant! A classic cafe diner with locals. Overall pretty good and just a vibe! Food was tasty from what I remember. Maybe a little too salty and sweet but after a vacation that might be what you want!
Came last Saturday for brunch. Ordered the veggie sandwich added turkey on squaw bread. Super simple and super tasty! Prefect if you wanna a casual breakfast or lunch spot, portions are generous, people are cool. Wait looks long but usually you get in well under the wait time. Our server was also amazing!! She was so quick to anticipate our needs and made it seem effortless. I wish I remembered her name she was awesome! Casual vibes, fills you up. Oside classic!!
Love this place, service is great and very fast. I was told wait would be 20 mins but it was under 10. Smaller parking lot, so be patient or go before 10am. Staff are nice and different staff to take order, bring out foods and clean your dishes. Must order Coffee Cake, it's soft and fluffy. Topped with glaze which is not overly sweet. 5/5 Killer Burrito comes with a side, which I recommend the potatoes. Homemade soft potatoes and great seasoning. Burrito has scoop of sour cream and guacamole on top. Second time ordering this burrito. 5/5 I wish this place was in Orange County
As others have stated the coffee cake is a must get - just the right size, sweetness and so good! We ordered the chicken fried steak and corned beef and hash - both were delicious - the chicken was crispy/crunchy without being oily or greasy and the corned beef was shredded and fresh. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed the friendly service, food, and the vibe!

We loved the laid back surf vibe of this awesome breakfast spot. A perfect California diner. Really friendly servers, delicious food, unlimited coffee. It couldn't be better. The short rib hash was phenomenal - and so much food that the leftovers served three more the next day! The linguica sausage was also delicious with hash browns and perfectly poached eggs. This beloved place may have had the most imposing wait I've ever seen on Saturday morning at about 10:00 a.m. Don't make the same mistake I did. Come early or save this until mid-week. A little self-serve coffee or water might ease the wait time. I don't know if I'd make a special trip, but overall, a solid choice if you're in the area or you're super into their coffee cake. The coffee cake was fresh and warm, but the icing sauce pushed it into the "too sweet" category for me. The crispy parts of the home made Corn Beef Hash were good, but some of the fatty pieces should have been trimmed off prior to plating. I realize that it's corned beef, but still....Maybe I should have gone with the special Chile Verde Hash instead? Finished my kid's leftover grilled Fish Tacos two days later. I put fresh tortillas underneath, heated them gently and they were good! French fries were OK. Rice and beans would have been better, but I expect there aren't enough other Mexican items to justify that. Coffee was good, but $3.75 sure seems like a "gotcha." Can you bring your own? Been coming to the Beach Break for a long time but it's been a minute since I was here last. Brought a friend who hadn't been here before. The food definitely didn't disappoint! Service is great. Waitress is very patient and kind. My awesome olmelet is with egg whites, big serving, potato cakes are delicious. Will definitely be coming back. On the other hand. My wife got a huevos rancheros and they brought us a 5 layer bean dip from Walmart. maybe i am too Mexican haha But overall this place is great, even the environment and vibes. read more

Used to be our go to breakfast restaurant whenever we were in Oceanside, CA. Always great food, service and coffee. But the last few times we were there, the service was just not up to standard. Our breakfast came in a series and not all at the same time. For example, our hash browns came after the egg dish was served. Sort of like they forgot about the potatoes and they ran back to get them. We often had to ask for coffee and water refills. Also, the staff seemed annoyed when we asked for the refills. Worst part, their famous coffee cake was very dry! Sure do miss the old place! Way too expensive to be treated so badly. The new owners have got to care more about their customers! Sad because this was an exceptional breakfast and lunch restaurant. read more

When you actually find a spot where the food is savory, smells delicious and the service is quick! It's a "life changing" experience. I used to travel to Oceanside a lot, had never been here. I will obviously plan trips from now on, specifically to come here. Great family restaurant, especially if you have kids because they are so fast! Definitely coming back. read more

I absolutely love this place, I was in town for about two weeks and probably ate here five times. The food quality was consistent which is always a plus and the service was excellent. I love the beach vibe and the light colored wood dining room. I would highly recommend this place to anybody on a daily basis. read more

I met a good friend of mine her name is Cindy who is classmate of mine in Oceanside High School. I have not seen her in many years. I met her for breakfast this morning at 10 a.m. at this Beach Break Cafe. I got there 10 minutes early and waited in the front lobby area. I was greeted by Jim who is the server at the front desk. All of their employees were wearing masks. I called ahead of time to ask if I needed to wear a mask. I needed a mask. I spoke to one of their servers she told me it's not required for their customers to wear a mask when they walk into the entrance of their Beach Break Cafe. None of the customers were wearing face masks, except I saw 2 people, a married couple were wearing their masks sitting at the front lobby. Their tables are separated by partitions. The only issues I saw were 2 issues I noticed at this Beach Break Cafe was none of their customers were wearing masks and their dining room area was very busy that was full of customers. I was there with my classmate friend Cindy for two hours. Their parking lot in the back of their restaurant is really small and has limited spaces. When I pulled into their parking lot this morning there was only (one space) available. I was fortunate to park in that open space. Beach Break Cafe is 5 blocks from the Oceanside Pier and Beach. This morning I saw a lot of families with their children, younger couples, and a lot of men with their friends and women with their friends like myself also. This location was really busy today. Their dining room area was very noisy due to a lot of customers were eating inside their restaurant. My friend Cindy showed up at 10 a.m. today. Cindy hugged me. Then Jim the server at the front lobby escorted us to a booth and we sat down. Kristen walked over to our booth that was 5 minutes later. She told me there are also some SPECIAL BREAKFAST MEALS listed on their White Board posted up by the front Kitchen area. I placed my order with Kristen my server. I ordered the 2 pieces of the Strawberry and Banana Pancakes with a pat of butter and it has powdered sugar on top. The price is $13.95. I also ordered the one cup of the decaffeinated coffee and one water from Kristen. The price is $3.50. Kristen my server said these Special Pancakes include 2 eggs any way I want them prepared. I told Kristen that I want my 2 eggs to be scrambled. Kristen wrote down my order on her note pad. The sales tax was $1.44. My total bill was $18.89. I waited about 15 minutes at my booth, then Kristen brought over my order and Cindy's Order. The Strawberries and the sliced Bananas was on the bottom on the (second) pancake instead of these sliced Strawberries and the sliced Bananas being on the (first) pancake. Cindy told me that is the way this Beach Break Cafe serves their pancakes. I did not use any maple syrup on this short stack on these 2 Strawberry and Banana Pancakes. Cindy my friend said these pancakes don't need maple syrup. The two scrambled eggs were very good. The short stack of two flavored pancakes were very flavorful and really delicious with no maple syrup. I took half of these pancakes home. I was too full. While we were still eating our food. The owner walked over to our table. His name is Harrison. Then he asked me, if the food I ordered for breakfast tasted good? I said yes the Strawberry and Banana Pancakes are delicious. Then Harrison started talking to us about these Surfing Competitions that are held in Oceanside, CA, Cindy my classmate was a surfer when she was attending Oceanside High School. I haven't had anything bad on the menu, and recently tried their spicy chicken omelette which was incredible! The staff is so friendly here, and you can tell that they have such a high retention because of their service and food! Beach Break Cafe is always packed and I know why. The friendly atmosphere and good food keep customers coming back time and again. Sausage and Eggs with Crispy Has Browns are simple but they get the job done (I love that the menu gives you an option for crispy hash browns; never seen that one before). Good Biscuits & Gravy - the Pork Sausage gravy was a bit on the salty side for me but the homemade biscuits are nice and flaky. Also good is the French Toast. The coffee keep flowing and though they forgot my toast, the service was adequate and friendly. I enjoyed my first visit to the Beach Break Cafe and I will be back. read more
My girlfriend found this place on our way to San Diego. We got served right away despite finding no parking in the lot behind the restaurant. I saw that they had a Santa Fe omelet and ran with that with no regrets. My girlfriend had french toast with sliced bananas over whipped cream and a vanilla-flavored cup of coffee. She also ordered a side of bacon that was so thick, that even I had to try it. The hash browns that came with my omelet were perfection by themselves and the service was stellar. We will definitely have this place on luck on our next trip down south. read more

The food here is so good. I tried all the food in the pictures and my absolute favorite one that surprised me was the corn beef !! I want to come back personally to eat it as my own plate. I also really liked the chicken fried steak! Coffee cake was also so delicious. It was an hour wait to be seated but the service was extremely fast. We got our food quickly and it tasted fresh. Not sure why I don't have a review up as I've been coming off and on for close to two decades... While I sometimes enjoy the chicken burrito, my go-to items here are the smooth, rich coffee with the fab! u! lous!! coffee cake, and the corned beef hash, sub hash browns for the home-style potatoes (shredded potato is the classic way, no longer on the menu but they will still make it for me... or you, if you ask!). Everyone is always so friendly, and even when they're slammed, they keep my coffee cup full. Which brings me to another point- the roast is amazing here!! The parking lot is small but I always find street parking. I highly recommend this place! I've never seen anything on the menu or the specials board for gluten free option for waffles, French toast or Pancakes. I'm sure there is something on their great menu that is gluten free and will satisfy your hunger! Enjoy!!
