My favorite North County breakfast spot! The vanilla coffee is amazing, the coffee cake is phenomenal, and I've never had a dish I didn't love. It's a laid-back, casual spot with lots of cool local photos on display. I also love their mismatched coffee cups -- it adds such a fun and cozy vibe. If you're looking for a "brunch with the gals" kind of place, this might not be the best fit since they don't serve alcohol. But if you're after a delicious breakfast with fantastic service, this spot never disappoints. The staff has been amazing every time we've visited! read more

Visiting from Vegas, came in and tried this spot out since it was near our Airbnb. We had a group of about 20 since we were visiting for a soccer tournament for the weekend, and although we were a large group they were able to accommodate our large party fairly quickly. The restaurant itself felt had a very comfortable vibe, I could definitely see this being one of my frequent breakfast spots if I lived in Oceanside. The service was great, and the food was amazing. Anytime I go on any vacation, I have a habit of over ordering, which I did today, but I couldn't help myself my group came the day before and told me it was good spot with good food. Glad we came back on our last leg of the trip, I had the California scramble with coffee cake and house potatoes, not sure what everyone else ordered but I tried the biscuits and gravy someone else in my party had and they were delicious, they even give you side of pico and some homemade salsa, it gave a nice spice to all of my dishes. I will definitely be coming back whenever I visit Oceanside, the prices are reasonable as well! read more

With the wonderful reviews, I had high hopes for this place. I don't come to San Diego very often anymore so I'm excited when I finally get to make the trip and top it off with amazing food. I had huevos rancheros that were underwhelming. I've had a lot of huevos rancheros over the years at some great places and while this wasn't terrible, it rates at the lower end of my experiences. There was definitely an effort at seasoning. I tasted spices in the meal, but it didn't come together to make magic. It was still bland. My husband felt the same way about his breakfast burrito. Not bad. Not good. Just "meh." This is a brunch spot, not a Mexican restaurant and I'll just have to accept that. Service was fine. Restaurant was clean and spacious. This place is fine for families to just come and enjoy a meal together, but not a good look if savory cuisine is the goal. I don't expect to come back. read more

For one the service was terrible. They made me and my companion uncomfortable and like we didn't belong inside the restaurant. They had us waiting to get our food while new guests that just sat down got theirs within minutes. Beached themed restaurant for obvious reasons, right down to the decor on the tables we were sitting at. The food was really good and at reasonable prices. I started off with the clam chowder which was a little soupy for my liking but still really tasty. I was told the coffee cake was excellent and a must. The California Chicken Sandwich was good and had big pieces of avocado l, which is always a plus for me. My better half had the Chicken Fried Steak, which I was told was flavorful and tasty. Our waitress, Alicia, was very nice and attentive throughout our time there, even suggesting items that weren't asked for (ranch dressing, salsa...) just to give it that little extra to make the food taste even better. We happened to be Oceanside for a wedding and were looking for a casual brunch place before the ceremony. Usually diner food is not my jam, but this may be the best diner experience I have ever had in my life. I don't say that lightly! Rating Breakdown: 2/2 Stars for Taste -- My husband ordered the chicken fried steak smothered in gravy. The gravy was delicious, not too heavy or creamy. I could (and did) eat it straight up with a spoon. I ordered the awesome omelet and they did not skimp on the scallops, shrimp, or crab. I love that they had Cholula, which, let's face it, is clearly the superior hot sauce. There are so many sides to choose from. You can get a whole slice of coffee cake, which was served warm and topped with a sweet glaze. The cake just falls apart under your fork, so good! We could not believe it was included as a side option. We also tried the potato pancake and hash browns (well done), you can't go wrong with the potatoes here. You could also opt for biscuits which come with gravy at no extra charge. The biscuits were crispy on the outside, buttery and flaky on the inside, and hearty enough to stand up to the gravy crack sauce. The only thing that was not outstanding was the coffee, which was the standard watered down diner fare. 1/1 Stars for Value -- We could not believe the prices. Less than $20 for an omelet bursting with seafood AND two large sides? I don't understand how this place makes money but everyone better come before they smarten up and raise their prices. 1/1 Stars for Customer Service -- Servers were friendly and helpful. Food took a little bit to come out but you could tell it was hot and FRESH. When the bill came, we noticed that one of our entrees was $1 more than listed on the menu. We asked the waitress in case it was an error or just to see if there was an unexpected upcharge for one of our side choices and she fixed the bill right away. I usually visit this place 1-2 times a year as the crowd/line is often far longer than I'm able to wait (a good sign of the quality of the menu you'll order from) My biggest compliments are towards the food and the atmosphere. The menu is not complicated, with items that have quirky names that pair well with what you're ordering. My favorite being the Danger! burger (it's hot hot hot ) which is almost always on my mind if I'm there for lunch. The downside for me generally gravitates towards the service. It's hit-or-miss on whether the service will be timely or delayed. While never trending towards outright bad, at its worst you'll be waiting far longer than you'd like for a coffee refill, which is where the only minus for me comes into play. This has been my experience more often than not, but it is not a deal breaker insomuch as it is just something I've come to accept. Maybe it's due to their popularity (hence the lines referenced earlier) but overall this is my only caveat with fully recommended them as a local must-go spot for breakfast or lunch. read more

We anticipated this since I read previous reviews - but we did have to wait almost an hour after putting our name in at the front. Unfortunately they don't do text message notifications (my suggestion), so you do have to wait in person in order to hear our name being called. I chose this breakfast spot to celebrate my sister's birthday on Tuesday the 12th at 10 AM hands-down the worst breakfast we've ever had. I ordered the biscuits and gravy so disgusting. The gravy was so thick and not even hot and I also had two different types of biscuits on my plate. Cold and dry. We also got a order of short stack pancakes for almost 12 bucks I believe, literally two mediocre size pancakes no flavor overly buttery very disappointed. The service was fine. After our beach walk my husband and I decided to stop in for brunch. It was around 10:00am on Sunday. This was our first time here. When we first walked it the waiting area was full of people waiting and the dining room was full. Immediately I thought it was going to be a long wait. When we asked the gentleman at the hostess stand he said it would be 15 min. We sat down and admired all the beach decor inside. About 10 min went by and the called my name. The gentleman told us there were seats at the counter and asked if we were ok with that. I liked that he ask but we had no issues sitting at the counter. Immediately we were greeted by Kristi and she took our drink order and our food order since we already knew what we wanted. My husband ordered their Vanilla flavored coffee with vanilla creamer. Freshly brewed and served in the cutest Xmas cup even though Xmas was over a month ago. As busy as this place was, our food came out quick. I ordered the tradition eggs, bacon, toast and hash browns. My husband ordered the Killer Burrito which came with a side of hash browns. Everything was so delicious. My husband asked for hot sauce and Kristi also suggested their homemade salsa which my husband said was very good. Everyone was friendly and the food and service were excellent. My wife and I stopped by this place on our way down to San Diego. Saw it had some good reviews on yelp. Stopped by and they got us seated on the patio right away. Which was great because we had our dog with us. The food was tasty. We got an omelette and a scramble. Both were excellent with fresh ingredients, great portion sizes, and excellent value. 1 star for yesterday's terrible experience. I called for the French toast with bacon and the egg plate with two sides. I asked for a side of bacon and patty sausage. This simple request felt like sending a rocket to the moon, and she couldn't tell me how much extra it cost for these two sides. When I arrived around 1:30, I told the guy I had arrived for my Togo order, but I was going to eat it there. The guy said, "OK." Then another girl came to my table and said, "We got your to-go order ready. Did you still want to...?". I already told the guy I'm going to eat it there; why am I being questioned if I wanted to-go?? They finally bring me the food with no utensils. I asked for the utensils, and they brought plastic fork and knife Then asked for coffee, and I'm looking at the table and there is no ketchup or hot sauce. Then asked for ketchup, and another girl came over and SLAMS the ketchup on my table, and saids "here you go!". WOW! What a customer service One star for the service. I love this place for breakfast. If you're a local and never tried this you are missing out. They have the best corn beef hash. The banana crunch French toast is so yummy! Their California veggie omelet is delicious too! Their coffee cake is to die for. I love it so much! That's why we ordered it there last time to go but they forgot to include it in my husbands breakfast order to go home to me, I was so excited about it too. That was the main thing I was excited about! But I'ts okay it was busy that morning and customer service told us to stop by when we have time. Used to be our go to breakfast restaurant whenever we were in Oceanside, CA. Always great food, service and coffee. But the last few times we were there, the service was just not up to standard. Our breakfast came in a series and not all at the same time. For example, our hash browns came after the egg dish was served. Sort of like they forgot about the potatoes and they ran back to get them. We often had to ask for coffee and water refills. Also, the staff seemed annoyed when we asked for the refills. Worst part, their famous coffee cake was very dry! Sure do miss the old place! Way too expensive to be treated so badly. The new owners have got to care more about their customers!
