it was a beautiful day for some outdoor bbq. The godfather didn't disappoint. Brisket was moist and had some spice in addition to smoke. It was delicious. The bbq sauce is nice, good tang and sweetness, but the brisket can stand on its own. The links were nice and had a good pop. I chose to the pulled pork over the ribs as i wasn't as interested in the raspberry bbq on the ribs. But after tasting the food i might have to come back and give it a try. The pork was nice could have had more smoke. The adobe spice is a nice accompaniment. i would make it a point to stop by and try it out. skip the mac n cheese. read more

Stopped by for lunch today with the work gang. We are always looking for the best bbq. In The Woodlands there are only 2 real contenders - Corkscrew and BBQ Godfather. I had the brisket and link sausage with coleslaw and potato salad. I thought the portions were a little better than Corkscrew, but it was slightly more expensive. The sausage was good, equivalent to Corkscrew. The brisket, was tender (no tug) with good flavor, but it was a bit dry and needed sauce. Brisket needs to stand on its own without sauce. Corkscrew is way better on the brisket. My other comrades both had the pork ribs. They rated the ribs very good, but a notch below Corkscrew. My coleslaw had zero flavor, and I mean none! Potato salad was good. I think Corkscrew beats them pretty handily on sides. I was told by one of my coworkers that his beans were lacking as well. Another had the sweet potato casserole and mac n cheese, which were reportedly very good. The other negative was seating. Only a few tables. Also, the seating under the tent was very hot with the tent flaps down. It's hot enough outside already. Lift the flaps and let a little breeze blow through. The last criticism was that they got my order and my coworker's order flipped on one of our meats. They shouldn't have glitches like that happening especially when there were not many customers. One positive aspect was there was no long line like at Corkscrew. You can draw your own conclusion on that one, however. IMO BBQ Godfather is a solid second to Corkscrew in the area, well ahead of places like Pit Master and the chain bbq joints. There are many people who think Godfather is the best, so it's worth trying and making your own conclusion. read more

I thought it was a notch above corkscrew but right below killens. My issue was the sides mac and cheese and pinto beans weren't great but decent and they put a lot of black pepper in the ribs and brisket. It was very tender and flavorful and the sausage was really good. Overall would go back they are pricey but good. Definitely try the burnt ends. read more

My first visit to the "food truck court" today. I collected a few menus and decided to go with Godfathers BBQ. I got the Spicy pulled pork sandwich for myself and my 2 kids. I ordered my sandwich as well as my sons "all the way". My daughter didn't want the cole slaw or the pickles. All 3 of the 4oz. (Regular size) sandwiches came to $19.00 and some change. Okay, so for the taste part........my opinion of my sandwich was that it was tasty. Could have had more bbq sauce and less cole slaw juice, but it was very well prepared. Maybe next time I will omit the cole slaw too. My daughter's opinion........a little dry, had to add some bbq sauce and then it was good. My son...........too spicy, dry pork, cole slaw made the bread wet. He picked off all the toppings, dried the bun, added bbq sauce and said it tasted much better. Will I go back? You bet I will! The food wasn't bad, but definitely not worth the price. I paid $14 for a turkey plate with cole slaw and beans. The turkey was moist I will say, but I probably won't go back because of the cost. You can get better food for less money other places in The Woodlands/Spring area. read more

I really enjoyed the sliced brisket sandwich. It was moist, lean, a nice spice and smoky flavor. The bread was great and different than any other bbq joint. Also the sauce was good it wasn't generic like a lot of big chain places. I ended up here one Saturday because my usual bbq place is shut down for renovation and saw this in the woodlands community impact. But it was well worth the stop I look forward to trying other things on the menu. The guys working there were very friendly and I will be frequenting this place more often. Give it a try. I would probably give it 5 stars eventually but I have a lot of guilt cheating on my normal bbq place. read more

I went here a while back when it was on Rayford. I thought it was just ok. I said "Step yo' game up." If you listen to Rome, you will get that. Well, they did. This is some awesome Q. I had the Clamenza sandwich all the way. It was insanely good. The rib meat melted in your mouth. I got potato salad and some to go stuff. The burnt ends were off the chain! Sausage was incredible! Pulled pork....top shelf. The sides were a bit short of spectacular, but we're still good. The homemade lemonade just puts the entire package together. Definitely will be back. read more

I will admit, I'm an East Coast gal with dismal options for BBQ where I live. Imagine my delight to see not only a place for BBQ but that Marlon Brando was holding a rack of ribs on their smoker. I was sold. I had the chopped brisket, Mac and cheese and the sweet potato delight. The brisket had a wonderful smoky flavor with a kick that left my lips tingling. (Disclosure: I'm an absolute spice wimp, you will think it's super mild). The Mac and cheese was creamy and the sweet potato had some brown sugar mixture on top that complimented it nicely. Found food truck at baldy deacons. Sadly they were sold out of pulled pork. The brisket is tender, perfect smoke ring of pink on meat. Crusty burned smoke on the fat rim.super smoke flavor. The pork ribs are meaty, juicy, and flavor rich. Sauce is good. Sides we shared include Mac and cheese, potato salad, and pinto beans. All tasted good. Read an article in the local paper about BBQ Godfather in Spring and it hooked me with the focus the owner has on ribs. Was in the area this evening, so stopped by for a couple pounds of ribs and brisket with a side to take home. We were all blown away. I watched as he glazed the ribs with his raspberry glaze just for my order. I was not disappointed! Tender, easy to eat, but not too soft, and the flavor was out of this world. And, they were huge spare ribs, not baby backs. Then I went for the brisket. I've never had brisket that is this tender and lean but not dry. How does he do it? The crust was the best. My family just raved. The sauce was just spicy enough without interfering with the smoked flavor. Hats off. Not sure I'll ever be able to take out from Dickey's again. read more

After hearing about it, we decided to give it a try and were pleasantly surprised. Yes, the truck is super clean, friendly staff. We tried the brisket, pulled pork & ribs. All were good, tender & moist. Tried one of each of their sides; nothing to write home about. I was especially unimpressed with the 'new' Meat Mac N Cheese: mac n cheese with gristly meat cubes on top. We threw that one away. Place is PRICEY, considering their lower overhead. I could get 5 times as much moist meat at another bbq place. We had 3 plates (each consisting of a meat choice + 2 small sides), no drinks since it was to-go. Price: $41.83. Pricey lunch!! read more

Best Brisket I have ever had in my life! I had a bite of a friends rib and it was better than the brisket. I was told it's better than Corkscrew BBQ, but without the crazy lines, although there was a pretty good line forming when we left at Noon on a Thursday. Picked up 8 pounds of meat and sides on Saturday for a large group...brisket, ribs, pulled pork and sausage...I'm not a huge BBQ fan but it was a get together for Father's Day and my husband is a huge BBQ fan. Our favorite items: The brisket- amazing. As the day went by I kept stopping by the brisket and eating more, an urge I don't ever have with BBQ...And really tender. My husband said it might be the best brisket he'd ever had. The ribs- my husband and all the other guys said they had never had ribs like that before...sweet and spicy and so good. The pulled pork- just as amazing as the brisket...awesome flavor. The BBQ sauce and chipotle sauce were really good as well. Macaroni and cheese was a hit, beans were slow cooked and lots of flavor. Every item we ordered was really good, those were just the items that stood out. Well priced and we will definitely be back! read more

I have to update this review. We were craving some good bar b que last night, so went to Bernies Backyard strictly for Godfathers. Again, I was shocked it was 33$ for 1 meat plate and then a 1/2 pound of burnt ends. Seems steep. Then the icing on the cake was the service. After we'd gotten our food, I went back to the window to ask for a refill on the tea. When I got to the window, there were 3 girls there all on their cell phones. They seemed highly annoyed I'd interrupted them. In fact, the girl that took my tea cup to refill it, was so annoyed, she rolled her eyes and made a face to one of the other girls. She didn't know I could still see her. I was absolutely appalled and had regretted leaving them a 20% tip. Guess once you leave the tip, you shouldn't expect to be treated with respect afterwards. We won't be back. There's many other bar b que places that will take my money and treat me kindly and won't act annoyed I'm interrupting their social media time. read more

Then go on to say if the meat was for free then I'd eat it... I know for a fact that the people at Corkscrew have more respect for BBG-G than that. Those 2 places are by far a step ahead of anyone else in the area. The best part is that they both have 2 totally different flavor profiles. BBQ-G introduces a twist to traditional Texas BBQ while CS is more traditional. Both have mastered the art of cooking to the right texture. * Brisket - Smokey throughout no matter what piece you get. A lot of bold flavors, good bark and smoke ring. Every bite is full of flavor but you can still taste the meat. No sauce needed. * Turkey - Speaks for itself. Always juicy! * Ribs - A little sweet and light heat. The raspberry sauce is amazing but is really not needed. * Pulled Pork - Always cooked right with just the right amount of seasoning. * Pork Belly Sandwich - A special he runs from time to time and well amazing is an understatement. * Sausage - No not homemade but always cooked right. * Mac n cheese - Great! I have tried to convince the owner to make a bbq mac n cheese as a meal on the menu. I put some brisket in it and it was phenomenal. * Potato Salad and Coleslaw - Traditional always good. Ate there the first time tonight. The Brisket was good. I had it as burnt ends and it was just little too "moist" for me. A leaner cut of brisket would've made them better.
