My favorite Chinese restaurant. Been coming here for a few years now. So happy someone recommended it to me when I was in a furniture store on Buford Hwy. they said the Sesame Beef is their go to dish and a popular dish. And she wasn't lying. It's so good! Every time I've ever been here, it's on our table. Our other favorite is the salt and pepper squid. It's fried but not greasy. It's almost like a dash fry and the pepper with the fresh onions give it a bite. It's great appetizer dish. I also ordered the chicken with black bean sauce. It has a nice light sauce. We also had a hot and sour soup which has a bit of a kick. It was a little spicier than my daughter would've wanted but I really liked it. It was just enough of a kick for me. As always we don't ever have room for dessert. There's plenty of dessert options in the shopping center (Sweet Hut is a favorite and there's a rolled ice cream option across the street). BBQ Corner II is an old Buford Highway standby. Located in Asian Square, it's been around for as long as I can remember. In late 2013/early 2014, BBQ Corner closed and re-opened, fully renovated with a fresh, cleaned-up interior and a new storefront sign to boot. Since the renovation, the menu appears to mostly be the same except there's no more dim sum. There's a lot of authentic Chinese cuisine. I consider it Cantonese comfort food. The restaurant is open late, which is great. Sunday to Thursday, 11am to midnight. Friday and Saturday, 11am to 2am. Wednesday closed. This is a simple, casual, no-frills restaurant. Fish tanks still greet you at the entrance, but they aren't as dirty or dingy as they once were. As before, the carpeted dining room is one big open space with a collection of tables. All furniture is new as of the renovation. The round tables seat up to eight each. There's a large TV mounted high at one end of the dining room. There's an astonishing 270+ dishes on the menu not including the 60 lunch specials offered Monday to Friday, 11am to 3pm. When it comes to Cantonese food, they serve just about everything and that includes the popular big three items: BBQ pork, soy sauce chicken, and roasted duck. They serve soups, clams, mussels, oysters, fish (grouper, tilapia, sea bass, sole), shrimp, scallops, squid, egg foo young, beef, pork, chicken, vegetables, Chinese hot pot, congee (rice porridge), rice dishes, lo mein noodles, pan-fried noodles and rice noodles, and noodle soups. Dishes range in price from $6-10 each for rice dishes, congee, and noodle soups to $10-16 each for bigger entrees. Each lunch special runs $7 or less. Generally, I think the food is decent to good. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the aforementioned BBQ pork, soy sauce chicken, or roasted duck -- the restaurant's best sellers. Each is fresh and flavorful (and appetizingly greasy) in its own right. These are the types of chopped, roasted meats you'd find at a street stall in Hong Kong. At BBQ Corner, you can order any combination of these three (A7-A9, A12-A13 on menu). The red pork is my favorite (I love the succulent charred bits) followed by the duck with its delightfully crispy, oily skin. The soy sauce chicken is meaty, also with glistening skin. Some of the (white) meat can be dry, but it's not uncommon with this type of chicken. The meats are garnished with cilantro and pickled radish. Try the fish maw and crab meat soup (B13) or braised shark fin and crab meat soup (B14). I grew up eating fish maw soup with my family. Fish maw is a fish organ also known as swim bladder or air bladder. It has a delicate and fluffy texture and is mild in flavor. I like to add red vinegar sauce to my fish maw soup for extra flavor. Shark fin soup is unique, considered a Chinese delicacy, and often served at special occasions (like a Tuesday night at BBQ Corner). I'm happy to report that BBQ Corner serves ong choy, my favorite Chinese vegetable! This vegetable is known as Chinese water spinach, pak boong in Thai, and rau muong in Vietnamese. It's a leafy green vegetable notable for it's crunchy, hollow stems. Prepared with garlic, BBQ Corner's ong choy is absolutely delicious and I highly recommend it. My second favorite vegetable dish is the snow pea leaves with garlic (L15). It's prepared similar to ong choy and also quite tasty. Another popular dish is the sizzling beef steak with black pepper sauce (H12). Admittedly, the cuts of beef are cheap, sometimes mushy or rubbery, but satisfying nonetheless. The hissy, smoky presentation of this dish gives it a little "wow" factor. If you're adventurous, I suggest ordering the pork intestine with sour cabbage (K27). If prepared improperly, pork intestine can taste and smell awful. Fortunately, the pork intestines I've tried at BBQ Corner are quite good with no unpleasant taste nor odor. The sliced intestines have a soft consistency with a somewhat distinct aromatic flavor. The cooked sour cabbage goes well with the intestine. The dry beef chow fun noodles (P4) are scrumptious. One order is quite filling and can be split among multiple people. Wide, flat rice noodles are pan-fried with slices of beef, bean sprouts, scallions, and other veggies. Most people, regardless of palate, enjoy beef chow fun. The noodle soups, particularly with roasted duck (S4) or BBQ pork (S6), are good as well. These soups use thin, delectable egg noodles. Service is fine. read more

Sizzling steak with black pepper sauce was DELICIOUS!! Seasoned to perfection!! The pork/mustard green/duck egg soup was quite tasty and filling. We ordered a small and it was enough for both of us to have 3 bowls full. My husband had a Chinese hot pot w/ spicy eggplant & minced pork in a garlic sauce. He loved the sauce it was in but not the eggplant itself. It was cooked too long and had the texture of okra-which he is not that fond of!! The soy sauce chicken was not a favorite of ours with. When I go to Atlanta with my Mom, it becomes a non-stop search for the best Hong Kong style BBQ roast duck. I don't even eat duck! For various reasons, I choose not to, however that does not stop me from tasting a piece or two to draw my own conclusions. Out of all the places we have tried ITP and OTP, BBQ Corner has been the best so far for the following reasons: 1. Flavor balance- a strong five spice flavor and just the right touch of sweetness. 2. Tender and not dry. 3. The skin is slightly crispy and not so touch you cannot chew through it. There is a place in the same plaza that served us duck where the skin was so tough, I could not even grind it with my back teeth. 4. Drama free, hassle free dining experience. Food and service are fast, with a smile, and even complimentary rice. In Tampa Bay, where I live, rice is not always complimentary. Soy Sauce chicken at BBQ Corner is also the best that I have ever had for the same reasons as the duck. Also, they service it up a nice sauce and the white meat is not dry at all. Honey Roast Pork is a little on the pale and un-naturally red side, but; great flavor, cut thin, not too fatty, and tender. Just for the record, I prefer my Honey Roast Pork comparable to some delicious burnt ends, which is readily available at other Hong Kong BBQ locations. Normally, we order Ong Choi or Snow Pea Leaves with Garlic with BBQ dishes... But, this time I mixed it up and ordered some Minced Pork with String Beans. The string beans were scalded perfectly, there were bits of ginger and garlic and pork, but there was not much flavor. The seafood dishes were just too expensive for me right now, but maybe I will come back in the future with more people and try more dishes. Customers there were mixed between folks on their lunch break ordering General Tso and customers actually speaking Cantonese and ordering fried noodle dishes and lobster. We found this place by accident looking for China Kitchen (which is in the Asian Market). Although I at first was perturbed that a place called BBQ Corner didn't really have any bbq (save bbq pork a staple of most any Chinese restaurant), the experience was worth the confusion. Service: The service was excellent, my glass stayed fill and they were attentive to our table and all the tables around us. Food: They have great food, and bright fresh greens. You will not be disappointed with portion size either. Prices: Two people, 3 dishes, 37 dollars before tip. This is an extremely reasonable place in a big city like Atlanta. Cons: The lobster tanks looked dirty, and because of that you'll instantly start looking for things around you to nit pick at and wonder how cleanly the whole place is. We stopped by BBQ Corner this weekend with a couple of friends who used to live in town. We arrived around 1230 and were seated immediately. I was stupidly excited to eat here again because it tastes so much like my uncle's home cooking. We ordered the salt and pepper squid appetizer to share, ribs with bitter melon rice plate, and hubster got the chicken with vegetables. The portions were huge for 6.95 a plate! Of course it was like 70% rice, so I wasn't going to complain. I love rice. The flavors of the bitter melon with ribs was spot on. The black bean sauce was not too overpowering or salty. Hubster liked the chicken and vegetables. There wasn't a whole lot of variety to the veggies. Salt and pepper squid appetizer was better this time around. It was not overly salty. Great Chinese food! My friends and I ordered the Mongolian beef, duck, and Chinese broccoli. The Mongolian beef was sweet and savory; so good! The duck was also good, you have to dip the meat in the sauce it's in for even more flavor. I'd recommend the broccoli if you want to get your veggies in :). The ends of it too chewy for my liking but the leafy parts was delicious. It was just the three of us and we ordered three plates and ate family style and we were all stuffed for only like $15 each! Ever since discovering Buford, I fell in love with BBQ Corner. This location never fails to accommodate our large groups of late night cravers. There is plenty of parking nearby and the service is always great. The waiters can speak Cantonese and Mandarin. When eating with a group of friends, we always count the number of people and order X amount of dishes to share. It's plenty enough to satisfy most people. If we're really hungry we order X+1 or X+2. Running back from the city, we stopped along the food mecca of Buford Highway. We planned on stopping for another restaurant but the cash only deterred so we took a gamble and went next door. WORTH IT! I scanned reviews and thanks to other Yelpers we locked into some good options. We ended up with the seafood with black bean sauce, pork and duck bbq, and the sizzling beef. Each dish screamed complexity in amazing taste with what seemed to be the simplest preparation and ingredients. We kept remarking how good it all was and just loved every bite. Service is fantastic - definitely a place for regulars but we were treated just as well. Friendly and helpful! Nothing too fancy and nothing pretentious. I love the appeal that you can bring your hipster brother and his friends, your parents, your kid nephew, and your grandmother and everyone will find something they want to eat, have great family time, and allow your foodies in the group to snap a photo or two of the experience. I first discovered this place because they are open late. Where many other establishments roll up at 9pm, this place is serving solid Chinese food. And they're busy late, too. With a diverse crowd that's into things that transcend sweet & sour chicken. The first time I ate here, I had a really good Moo Shu Pork. Savory. A little sweet. Rolled up in some good crepes, which they can fill for you, or let you do your own at the table. They have other, more traditional offerings. Be sure to check out the pictures in the back of the menu, and order off those pages. Staff and servers here are always pleasant and fast. They seem to work really hard to make sure you get what you need. And it didn't take long for them to recognize me, joining the other seemingly long list of regulars that frequent this place. BBQ Corner has been a go-to restaurant for my family. Consistency is the key when it comes to why we love this place so much and keep coming back. The service is always friendly and quick, the food always comes piping hot, and the ambiance is never hectic. We usually order the beef chow fun, eggplant with salty fish, and salt and pepper squid. We also love the beef chow fun with brown gravy, the garlic eggplant, and the lunch combinations (a great deal!). This restaurant has been around for many years! They have the best BBQ pork rice. I've been here many times and they've never failed me. Dishes that I get are: Stir fried Beef chow fun. I order the dry version so no sauce is expected in the dish. It's stir fried flat rice noodle, bean sprouts, onions, and beef. Sometimes they put too much bean sprouts. I prefer more noodles over beef but that's just me. It has a great smiley flavor. Dragon and Phoenix is a very Cantonese style. It's fried rice with half topped with white gravy sauce with shrimp. While the other half is covered with red gravy sauce with chicken. White gravy sauce tastes just like any white sauce and the red gravy tastes sweet and sour like ketchup. Pipa Tofu is soft egg tofu deep fried with broccoli and covered in brown sauce. Tofu is really soft and has minced shrimp stuffing. Only downside is I hope the egg tofu is not deep fried. Maybe just slightly fried will be good. Sizzling black pepper beef is a great to look at when they brings it out. It sizzles for few minutes but watch out for the smokes. Beef is tender and very tasty. Service at BBQ corner is excellent. Owner is very friendly and this place makes you feel like dining at a friend's place cause that's how homey it feels. I haven't had the best luck on Buford Highway with Chinese food. It's either disappointing or the service is flat out awful. Well, I've finally found a place where I love the food AND the service is pretty decent! BBQ Corner 2 is pretty visible from the main road. It's in the same shopping center as Sweet Hut. There's plenty of parking in that large lot. I've yet to have to wait more than a few seconds to be seated. It's usually busy but never packed. There's small tables for 4, as well as larger round tables for groups. Nothing fancy about the decor, but it's air conditioned and comfortable, and pretty clean. I've kept it simple so far for my food selections because you don't fix what's not broken. Small order of BBQ Pork Appetizer for $6 is a steal! It's delicious, hits that specific meat craving I have every time. And the small is plenty for two people. The medium for $11 should be enough for 4 people. To go with it, we also got the House Fried Rice for $10, and it too was great! You can probably split it between 2-3 people depending on how hungry you are. So you can see that it was a very cheap dinner date for us to have 2 dishes for a total of $16 that delightfully filled us up. There's a very large menu to explore, with all the things you'd expect from a Chinese restaurant: noodles, rice, soups, and various seafood. Service is on point. They're prompt, polite (especially for Buford Highway standards), and actually check on you throughout the night. Bonus is their late hours that go into midnight or later. For the price this food was not worth it. I ordered Braised Tofu, Mushroom with Chinese Vegetables and shrimp wontons. The braised tofu has nice flavor however the vegetables were over cooked and chewy but was tolerable. Also, As big as the wontons were I expected more than one tiny shrimp inside. I called to express my extreme disappointment with the wontons and requested to bring them back and get a refund but was told there was nothing they can do for me. She even went so far as to suggest I don't get them next time. So I told her I won't get anything next time because I won't be back. BBQ Corner 2 is another one of those places I pass all the time on Buford Highway (it's in the Asian Square shopping center with Sweet Hut) but have never dined at. Wanting to try something new, I offered it up as a spot for a weekend dinner one night. The restaurant was pretty quiet when we walked in but it actually picked up as the evening went on/got closer to closing time. They close at 11:30 PM which is great. Service was friendly and attentive though I had to make eye contact with the servers to get their attention when BBQ Corner 2 was busier. The menu is massive. We got the following with accompanying rice: -Barbecue Pork, Soy Sauce Chicken, & Roasted Duck Combo ($17.95): This is a meaty appetizer that lets you sample BBQ Corner 2's offerings. I think I liked the pork the best though the birds were fine too. Maybe the meats could be a little more moist, but they were all right. -Two Kinds of Mushrooms with Vegetable ($11.95): The mushrooms looked to be shiitake and king oyster? I'm not sure, doing the best I can with Googling. The vegetable was gai lan, I'm almost positive. Plus there was extra carrot. Very fresh and delicious. -Mongolian Chicken ($10.25): This dish immediately greets you with sweetness. It's a little cloying at first but then you quickly get used to it and I found myself a fan. -Singapore Chow Mai Fun/Rice Noodle ($10.75): If you like noodles with bitty shrimps and a touch of curry powder, try these. There was a red pepper icon by this dish and the font was in red on the menu, but I didn't think it was too spicy. The menu descriptions could be a little more descriptive. For example, the mushrooms dish, I had no clue as to what the mushrooms and vegetable were exactly. I guess I could ask, but it always easier not to ask the staff a billion questions. And the AC was cranked up, luckily I brought a jacket. However, BBQ Corner 2 is a solid option for Chinese food on Buford Highway and the extended dinner hours are a bonus. Still, this gave me an opportunity to eat at two Chinese places where I'd not been so all is not lost, other than my dignity. I sat on this review until I had a chance to eat at the "real" Ming's. But this past weekend I had the chance so here goes. The food? We ordered beef chow fun, roasted duck over rice and several dim sum items. The chow fun was good, the noodles had a nice bite to them and the beef was plentiful. It was a little greasier than Ming's by comparison, but objectively it was fine. The duck was crispy and the dim sum, while it didn't knock our socks off, was fairly good. We had a nice mixture of steamed and baked pork buns. Luckily our resident Chinaman felt the need to redeem himself and ordered well. Although when my Filipino self asked him what was going on: "James, what are they saying?" "I dunno. They're speaking Cantonese. Sounds like moon talk to me." I had to dock him a few more Asian points. Just don't tell him that whenever my mom moves away from Tagalog and breaks into that weird Visayan jungle language of hers, I have no idea what the hell she's saying. The price points are about the same as well, so the three of us walked out full, yet with money still in our pockets. BBQ Corner 2 is under new management and has gone under renovation. Thank goodness too, because the last time I ate here it was down right shameful. I haven't tried any of their main dishes. I'll be sure to write an update once I do. My friends and I opted for their hot pot. We ordered 2 seafood hot pots and a side of beef. Very fresh stuff, tasty too. Great service. Food was amazing, better than expected. I got the house lo mein and it was really good with a good variety of meats. I made two meals out of my portion. I only wish that the lo mein had more vegetables. Would definitely recommend to a friend and make return visits. read more

Service has gotten a lot better. It's not warm and fuzzy, but it is efficient. Atmosphere is utilitarian, so don't expect this to be a great place to take a date. The food... well, the food is reliably good. My husband and I often get takeout from here if we don't actually feel like cooking. All of the American Chinese favorites (sweet & sour pork, mushu, Mongolian pork/beef, fried rice, sesame chicken, etc) are all delicious. A few of our favorites: Potstickers (fried)- the best I have ever had partially due to their orgasmic dipping sauce. Sizzling beef w/noodles... peppery delicious goodness. Any of the hot pots are sure to be scrumptious... And if you are on keto or are low carb, their scrambled eggs and shrimp are actually REALLY good. read more

Chinese food at BBQ Corner II is delicious!! I usually come and eat with my family because the portions are huge. Not sure if our dish choices are on the menu but they have many plates that are more for the American palate. Their steamed live fish is divine and cooked to just the right tenderness. I also really enjoy their ginger clam soup - it's a must try dish if you want something different. The sharp taste of the ginger compliments the clam taste within the soup. Service here is great and the food quality has remained consistent. I would recommend getting a sweet and sour meat dish here - it will not be your typical 'panda express' meal. It has been years since I've eaten here and it will be again due to service or lack there of. The Internet doesn't work and the staff had no interest in getting it too, then the waitress is a "no show" she sits down across the room directly in front of me talking on the phone forgetting she has customers. The Hot and Sour soup was a complete bore and the Grouper with Veggies turned gelatinous as it cooled down otherwise unappetizing and stopped eating it. I actually had to get up, go across the room and tell the waitress to "get off the phone and give me my check." There are too many options on Buford Highway with much better food and service don't bother wasting your time here. read more

Stopped by this restaurant to pick up dinner last Friday night because I always notice it across the parking lot from my hair salon and have been meaning to check it out. Service was great but I was disappointed with their level of grease and oiliness in their food. I'm a huge fan of Ming's BBQ roasted duck meat and figured this place would offer the same but was wrong. Their duck meat wasn't as stellar and I'm definitely returning to Ming's when craving it. Also ordered their chow fun wide noodles with chicken. This entree was a lot greasier than I had hoped for and ended up throwing out most of it because it was lacking flavor and not what I'm used to experiencing from other restaurants. Perhaps I'll have to return and select other items off their menu because when I stopped by, there were plenty of diners enjoying their meals already and more families stopping in while I waited for my carry out order. I love BBQ Corner. This is easily one of the top 10 favorite places to eat in Atlanta. I can say that I eat here what feels like once a week. I always order their salt and pepper tofu. The outside has the perfect crunch and flavor that makes the tofu taste amazing. I love their chicken dishes, specifically their General Tso's chicken and their orange chicken. The servers literally know what I am going to order every time and I love them for that. read more
