Finally got to try out BB.Q Chicken Vista. Located in a strip mall with banks, and other businesses, so there is some parking. Depending on the time of day and if the high school is getting out it can be pretty crowded to get in and out and park. The ambiance is ok, lots of pictures of their food, and a large TV playing people walking around. The place is clean, nice Tile floor, tables look inviting. There are probably 10-12 tables inside and a few outside. The doors were open so it was a little cold in there. They have a rewards program and an an app. You get 7000 points just for signing up. (Basically a free Soda). Joanna was super friendly, nice, and brought all of our food as soon as it was ready. She made sure we were all set. There is a paper menu you can look at, but there also have 3 monitors displaying the large menu. You can wait to talk to someone to order, or you can use the giant iPad to order yourself for takeout or dine in. There are quite a few choices for food. But the star are their wings. You can pick boneless or with bone, and for the qty they offer these sizes - small, medium, or large. They have several flavors to choose from. We tried the soy garlic, and they were delicious. Looking forward to try honey garlic and cheesling next. We tried the cheesling french fries, some kind of cheese powder, that is pretty tasty. Yum. My main course was the chicken fried rice, packed with umami, and very good. Nicely prepared. It was warm, delicious, and hit the spot. We also tried the fried dumplings, they were crispy, crunchy, also tasty. Definitely good food, and friendly service, so I am looking forward to go back to try other items for sure. read more

Been here a few times. The food when you get what you ordered is fantastic. But recently we waited over an hour after the estimated time. Even though someone checked the clock saying it was ready on time. Then we got home and missing an item ~$14 Kimchi Fried Rice. The receipt had it checked off. Looks like they put in a side of Kimichi instead. I immediately called and was told we could get a "free" order the next time we came in or "get a refund on-line through the website." The problem after being on the phone for another 20minutes was that there is no way to do either. Finally was given an ok to decline the order through my card from Linda Mendez (supervisor?). Apparently the store requested more information which I provided to the bank. 10 days later still no refund. What gives?? read more

Ive been to 4 different locations and the one in Vista is the worst one. The main reason being when I opened the box, I couldnt believe how dark the chicken was indicating old oil. I had to come back for the $1 wings!! Service was pleasant. I think the cook was doing both the register and cooking my food. I got the crispy rice and golden wings for one order. Then the honey garlic, which is one of my favorites. Also added Cole slaw and kimchi. I was not digging the slaw and kimchi this time around. Mostly just wanted radish and forgot to ask for it. This is a good bb.q chicken location and I recommend bb.q for Korean fried chicken, especially in a city that doesn't have any other KFC options (yes I've tried the other local places in neighboring cities and they aren't it). The food is made to order and it is real chicken. I do hope this location survives but it's in one of the areas of this strip mall where nothing lasts. I think they'd do great near vista village but alas I'll still come here. Please give 20 minutes minimum for your order to be ready! I recommend ordering online. 8 pieces is a lot, not small portions, hence the price! Honey garlic and Gangnam style are great options along with the original. I finally decided to give bb.q Chicken a try after seeing it pop up around town. I ordered the Honey Garlic chicken, curious to see how it compared to the other Korean fried chicken spots in San Diego. The chicken itself was well-cooked--crispy, fresh, and true to the hallmark crunch of Korean fried chicken. However, the sauce left much to be desired. The honey garlic flavor was light, almost too light. It tasted as if the chicken had only briefly met the sauce instead of being properly tossed in it. For comparison, BonChon delivers honey garlic in every bite; here, it felt like an afterthought. The service experience was equally mixed. When I first walked in, I mentioned it was my first time and asked if I could sample one of the sauces. The initial employee told me that wasn't possible. Fortunately, a manager (or possibly the owner) walked in shortly after, and when I asked again, she kindly approved a sample in one of their sauce cups--though no spoon or tasting utensil was offered, so I had to resort to using my finger. The most concerning part of my visit, however, was what happened next. While waiting for my order, I observed the employee who took my order step away to clean tables and sweep the floor. When another customer's food was ready, she responsibly washed her hands before handling their bag. But when my order came up--after she'd again been cleaning--she did not wash her hands before bagging my food. I had to stop her and specifically request that she wash her hands. She complied, but the inconsistency was glaring. Why one customer received proper hygiene protocol and I almost didn't is something I can't explain--but it left a sour taste. Final Take: The chicken itself has potential, the crunch is there, but they need to double down on the sauce and improve staff training around customer care and food safety. Food- quite disappointed there was no rice ... we ordered the whole chicken plain, and wings in soy garlic. Wings were great, crispy and loved the flavor. The whole chicken had an awful taste, my husband noted some pink parts. Didn't even eat it. Quite pricey as well. Ambiance - many tables needed to be cleaned, leaving only a few to eat at ... I've ordered from here twice but always find it disappointing as the flavors don't feel as robust and chicken not as juicy. Honestly so glad we went here! My husband and I love Korean food, but usually end up traveling down to Convoy to satisfy the craving. we found this place on yelp, and honestly they deserve more stars. My husband got the Bulgogi which was so well seasoned and perfectly cooked, we shared the spicy original wings and the wings were amazing!! Flavorful and crispy and juicy on the inside. They honestly reminded me of popeyes chicken but better! I got the Rose rice cakes and it was delicious. All portions were great and the pricing was not bad for the amount of food. We used the kiosk at counter and the food was brought to us in a timely manner. It seems like they cooke everything fresh to order, so it wasn't instant but it did not take long at all.The ambiance is very casual which is comforting especially when eating comfort food. Vista finally has really awesome Korean Fried Chicken! This is the same chain that I've experienced up in Irvine. I'm already a fan, so the second that we saw the open sign, we got some to-go. You can either get them plain or you can get them with the sauces. My favorite is the Soy Garlic and in second place is the Gangnam Style. If you need even spicier they have Kimchi Fried Rice. I love getting the pickled radish as a side to put out the fire. If you have never had them, check them out! read more

I have loved BBQ Chicken at every other location I've tried (LA, OC, SD, even in Korea). I was so excited to see one near me, but was a little disappointed to see that the quality was not quite the same. The wings were still pretty crispy, and the same seasoning but just not quite the same quality that I've come to expect. Bb.q chicken is my favorite chicken place that I go to frequently so there's a certain standard, and it just didn't quite meet it. The fries I tried were undercooked, some literally were crunchy on the INSIDE like the potato was not cooked all the way. The wings were crispy in some places but pretty soggy in others, and I've just never seen that at the other locations I've tried. Not sure if this is Korean-owned, but even the radish were in HUGE weirdly-shaped chunks and not cut into small cubes like I've seen in every other location. The first time I ordered, I ended up waiting 40 minutes for my pretty small order so I was disappointed. They miscalculated the timing and told me to come pick up my order 20 minutes before it was actually ready. The second time I ordered, it wasn't very busy and I was able to pick up my order within 20 minutes. Overall, it'll do for when I have a Korean chicken craving and I don't have time to drive up to OC. The workers there were nice too, so no complaints there. read more

I wish I could give it zero star. I ordered online, got a text that my order was ready. Went in after 10mins I got the text. When I got there the front lady said it would be a few more minutes. Then someone came in, an uber eats guy returning a box of chicken because apparently the front lady gave him the wrong order. Heared her apologizing and even gave him an extra radish for the inconvinience. Then the front lady brought the chicken back inside then came back out right away with some chicken I assume she took out of the box and transfered to my box and gave it to me. I know for sure it is what the guy returned bacause it is not hot anymore! I asked her if that's the one she gave me and she said no with a guilty face. I went back to the car to check my order and found out one item is missing. So I had to go back in and asked for it. Waited another 15minutes for that item. it was my first time here and the girl working at the cashier was super sweet and helped walk me and my boyfriend through their menu. She also offered us a free sample of their sauces as well! We ended up ordering the ghalbi wings and the So Deok So Deok. It did take a bit for them to get our order out, but it was worth the wait. Ordered delivery today. Wings were fairly decent. Original crispy lacked seasoning so tasted mostly of oil, but the soy garlic was pretty good. We also unfortunately ordered the boneless soy garlic which was essentially inedible. The chicken was so dry, overcooked and toothsome, we had to throw out most of it which was disappointing as we had a double order of them.
