This is my review of this amazing sandwich that I had at the Hidalgo Bistro, a Mexican Bistro in Hamburguesa Cubana - Beef patty, sausage, ham, bacon, mayo, lettuce, tomato, avocado, pickled jalapeños, house dressing, all on a custom toasted bun. This was a really filling burger!! The flavors were a great blend and with each bite I'd get hit with the salty ham, crunchy bacon, creamy avocado, some twang from the jalapeño! The toasted bun was a nice touch and next time I'd add some grilled onions. The inside is spacious and staff are very friendly. There's a small tv in the corner, which seems like it's more for customers who are waiting for their TO-GO orders. The ambiance is casual and relaxing. Their menu is very diverse and ranges from breakfast items like: omelets, chilaquiles, breakfast burritos & croissant sandwiches. Lunch items such as chicken wings, salads, tacos, burritos, burgers & sandwiches (like their Philly Cheesesteak). Dinner items include: pastas, Alfredos, lemon salmon, Parmesan chicken, and their popular 12oz Ribeye steak plate. Overall, I like this diverse Mexican Bistro and the family that runs it are nice and I want to come to try their breakfast burritos next. read more

First time coming to Hidalgo! Bistro and we absolutely loved it! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by Lisa, who made us feel right at home. She let us choose any table, gave us time to settle in, and then brought over both the breakfast and lunch menus. They truly have a little bit of everything omelets, French toast, breakfast burritos, chilaquiles, and more! Our drinks came out quickly, and everything from there just kept getting better. The chilaquiles sounded amazing, and they did not disappoint! I ordered the Chilaquiles Verdes with steak, the steak was so tender and full of flavor. My husband built his own omelet and really enjoyed it, and my stepson had the California burrito, which he loved too. The portions were generous and we even took some leftovers home! Everything was delicious, the service was wonderful, and the atmosphere was welcoming. We will definitely be back to try more items on the menu. Highly recommend! read more

I love this wholesome little place. I've been here twice for breakfast and lunch. Each time has been a treat. I had breakfast today. The omelet was well seasoned and cheesy. My wife ordered chilaquiles and it was amazing. It was just as you want it; crunchy with some queso fresco on top. She had the steak option with it and it was amazing. The steak could have been a meal by itself. My son has a California burrito that he destroyed. That's a good sign. And thanks to the staff. read more

Cute little mom and pops restaurant. Quiet and clean location with loads of parking. They definitely have great food at very reasonable prices. I ordered the jalapeño burger, medium rare, and it came out perfectly. I even ate the tomato that came with it because it was perfectly ripe and I never eat tomatoes. I usually tell people that I'm allergic to tomatoes because I just don't like the tomato guts. My husband ordered the burrito with French fries(like a Cali, but that's not what they called it in the menu).I tried that too and the meat was very flavorful and the red salsa was just the right picante. My friend ordered a shrimp taco with the green sauce and she said that was amazing! I tasted her grilled shrimp and it had very good flavor. I think I'll try those shrimp tacos next time. She said they had a nice little kick to them too and didn't need to use the green salsa. My husband said that he wants to try the ribeye next time. They have a 12oz one for $22. I feel like that's a great deal! The young man that waited on us provided great service as well. He was constantly checking on us to see if we needed anything. And this is just FYI...they do not have fountain sodas, but they do have aqua frescas and a variety of canned/bottled drinks to chose from. We will definitely be back to try other things from this adorable little mom and pops shop. Don't wait. Go check them out and I promise that you won't be disappointed. Came here with a group of 8 to celebrate my birthday and wow, this place did not disappoint. First off, I love supporting local spots, and you can really feel the care they put into both the food and the service here. Food-wise, everything we tried was a hit. I ordered the chicken Alfredo, it was creamy but not overwhelming which I enjoyed a lot. We also had some wings and lemon salmon, both were standout dishes. Honestly, no complaints from anyone at the table (which says a lot with a group this size). What really made the experience memorable was the service. The staff went out of their way to make my birthday feel special! They brought out a dessert platter (the churros were SO good) and even played a birthday song, which was such a fun touch. This family takes such pride in their food and it shows in the homemade tortillas, fresh vegetables, and an amazing prime rib (yes, even served thinly sliced in a taco!). I'm pretty sure the mashed potatoes and refried beans were homemade too. Our server was humble but proud and couldn't wait for us to try the food; he was all smiles, cordial, and very accommodating. The food was soo good! Some of the best Mexican food and guacamole I've had in San Diego. We had the Ribeye steak and it was absolutely delicious. Sides of seared veggies and mashed potatoes. Support local, this restaurant has been open for three months. Fresh homemade cooking. I ordered the Taco Trio for lunch, it came with rice and beans for $16.99. I had a shrimp taco which was excellent ( a lot of shrimp) and 2 ribeye tacos. Service was great, nice atmosphere and clean. I will definitely go back. We decided to give this place a try for lunch today and we are so glad we did! The food was delicious!! It's clear that everything here is made with quality and care. My daughter had the cheeseburger, I had the Philly cheesesteak sandwich and my husband had the asada burrito with a chicken taco and asada taco on the side. EVERYTHING WAS PERFECTION! We all left fully satisfied. My husband also got the guava agua Fresca and it was sooooo good and made fresh!! The service was great, our server was so attentive. The ambiance was pleasant as well.
