I hate to say it, but I feel like this place has fallen off. Maybe it's just this location, but I grew up eating here back when it was Wings N Things the good old "Neighborhood Spot Since '82." Back then, the dining room was always packed, the atmosphere was welcoming, and it felt like a place the community loved. So much has changed, and unfortunately not for the better. I remember being able to order 12 wings as all flats or all drums. Now it's only "mostly" flats or drums, at least at this location, in case anyone else was wondering. The food was still hot, fresh, and tasted great, so credit where it's due. However, the service was below average. There wasn't much hospitality, and the overall experience felt cold and transactional. Good food alone doesn't make up for a lack of customer service. I remember Epic Wings being known for both great food and a great experience. This location could really benefit from more hospitality training to bring back what made the brand feel special. read more

BUT what's the point of calling in my order 30 minutes before so that it'll be ready when I go on my (30 minute) lunch break just to get there and have to wait another 15 minutes at the restaurant. I literally called and placed my order at 5:30 but my ticket was rang in at 5:55, didn't get my food until 6:15. And there was only ONE other person dining so it's not that they were busy. I decided to phone in an order while I did a little shopping at the rouse in the strip mall. The staff member told me it'd be ready in 10 to 15 minutes. I took about 20 minutes to shop headed over and asked if my order was ready gave them my name . I was told it should be ready shortly I had a seat I waited 10 minutes 15 minutes and then asked somebody else hey can you check on my order? Staff member went in the back a minute later came out got on the computer typed on it for a second told me oh it hasn't been created yet because you haven't paid. This was 45 minutes after I placed the phone order, why would I place a phone order if the order isn't going to be created until I get there and pay for it? Either this is a new policy and some of your staff is unaware or they flat out forgot to make my order. read more

Wanted to write a review and share my experience of how awesome Epic Wings in San Marcos catering experience was for me I worked with Monica throughout the entire process and she was absolutely amazing. I was able to place my order over the phone instead of the Internet, which made it really easy and seamless. She was able to give me different options that I couldn't see on the computer and the prices were fair and the packages she developed for me worked wonderfully. All of the food was delicious. It was delivered hot and the chicken was crispy. All of the breadsticks were still hot as well and the salads were a big hit. They gave us an abundance of napkins and plates, along with utensils. Monica paid extreme attention to detail and made the whole experience a great one There was no stress at all. She even opened up her business early so I could pick up the food and get it to my event. I'm very well known in the Yelp community for rating fancy well know places, but sometimes I get my fast food cravings. And Epic Wings of San Marcos disappointed me. I had a very long day of work and was craving chicken wings. I bought a big bag of wings and headed home. But little did I know, as I opened the bag. There were only 4 wings. I WAS LIVID. My day was completely ruined. So what did I do, you may be wondering? I called back and all I got was a "we're very busy" Then the girl went in to say "you can drive 20 minutes back, but you have to bring the food." Ridiculous. I have been to many...and this one just stands out....the food is always on point...they have a great crew here and obviously great management. I come in here occasionally and this place never lets me down. Always amazing food and really consistent. Besides the owners being so down to earth they chose a great staff . Today I'd like to recognize Destiny. Every time I come here she is smiling and happy to take my order. You see I had a sever brain injury snd am considered mentally disabled and repeat myself a lot but she is so kind to answer my questions even if I repeat myself a lot. This location seems a lot newer than the other ones I've been to. We came in on a rainy evening and there was barely any line. I ordered my usual Single Meal with 5 Boneless Wings with Hot Buffalo Sauce and Honey BBQ mixed together ($11.95). It does take a while for us to get our food but that just means that everything was freshly made. Also just be sure to grab some utensils when you get your drinks because they don't hand them to you when they drop off your order. I thought it was a bit weird since other locations have given us utensils at the same time as when they dropped off our plates, but maybe it's a covid thing with this location, I don't know. They give you enough sauce to smother both the chicken and the breadsticks in them, as well as the ranch sauce as well. The hot spiciness is my perfect amount of spice because it definitely gives that hotness while not yet overpowering anything else that you eat. The celery and carrot sticks are a nice refreshment from the heat though. If spiciness isn't your thing then they have a bunch of other sauces and dry rubs that you can choose from instead, so there's a flavor for everyone. Epic Wings has always been my favorite chicken wing spot to go to, and this location is definitely one of the better ones that I've been to. It's an easy place to find in the CSU San Marcos area and it's super close to the freeway which makes it perfect for pit stops, which is why I stopped by this one in the first place. read more

The best wings anywhere. I've been enjoying their wings and strips since 1988 and they velvet disappoint. They have brought back their tacos, so good. I love the wings and strips with hot and a side of garlic hot. The blu cheese is the perfect pair with these mouth watering morsel. I mean, if you've been to one Rimel's, you've kind of been to them all (as well as whichever Urgent Care might be nearby). Still, this is Wings and Things! And an Epic one at that! What that means is large strips of breast meat, breaded, fried, and drenched in whatever sauce floats your boat, with a tub of salty and creamy blue cheese dressing to send your cholesterol through the roof. That's a good Saturday afternoon, right there. Anyway, while searching for a house to buy, this shop has been our go-to place for lunch, making it popular with our son who has found, what I assume will be, a lifelong obsession with chicken wings. I've never had a disappointing meal here, they're very consistent, and the food is on point with the spice, flavors, and sauces. Plus, it's all topped off with those fat, butter and garlic soaked breadsticks which you can get by the bag-stuffed dozen. I moved here form Charleston, SC. In Charleston (and the greater south east) we have Wild Wing Café. They have hands-down the BEST wings I've ever eaten. Because I'm sort of a wing-snob, and the very mixed reviews for Wings-N-Things, I've taken my time coming here to try them out. Today was the day. I was craving wings, and decided to call them and order take-out. I ordered the "Double Meal" with 6 sweet chili and 6 extra hot wings. They come with 4 fat garlic bread sticks, blue cheese or ranch dressing, and veggie sticks. I also ordered a side of french fries. The nice lady on the phone said my order would be 10-15 minutes, and I hopped in the car to head their way. My wings were out in 14 minutes from the time I hung up the phone (yes I'm anal enough to time them). Once home I opened up my wings that were DRIPPING with tons and tons of yummy sauce! I adore drippy wings, and these did not disappoint. The fries were crispy, hot and perfectly cooked. Even after the ride home, my wings were still crispy. The carrot and celery sticks were fresh and crunchy. I did think the blue cheese dressing was a little thicker than I like it, but that's just my personal taste. I'm a FAN! This Wings-N-Things location is awesome! It's right across CSUSM and it wasn't packed on a Sunday afternoon which was nice. It had ample seating and we were quickly helped. I got the single meal with tenders with lemon pepper and garlic (no sauce) with all celery and ranch. This place is great and the food came out relatively quickly. Horrible experience at this location. I placed an online order and somehow end up getting charged twice. Then when I went in they said the online isn't working and charged me another 25 bucks. So they ended up charging me 3 times in total. I still have not received my money back from them. That's a long time for a wing joint and ithe place wasn't very busy. Then they forgot the French fries. After we reminded them, the fries came about 10 minutes later, with a sincere apology, when we were about halfway done with our meal. Again, that's a long time. Hey, mistakes happen. I get it. Maybe they were shorthanded or simply having an off night. It happens. The wings, tenders and fries were all good. The breadsticks were meh. These breadsticks are definitely not the greasy, salty, decadent breadsticks of the old Pat & Oscar days, if you were around back then. Note that the double meal is exactly the same price as two single meals. That's weird. Plus, because you cannot get a mix of wings and tenders with a double meal, two people are better off getting two separate single neals. The place was very clean and the beers on tap were solid. So, overall, mixed feelings. Slow cooking times seems to be an occasional complaint here. I'd like to return but the ship needs to be run a little tighter. read more
