This was seriously one of the BEST finds we've stumbled across! Don't get me wrong, I was a bit skeptical at first, but OH. MY. GOODNESS!! We came in around 1:30 PM and stayed until about 2:30. The restaurant was calm and quiet at that time of day, the atmosphere was beautiful and welcoming, and the service was AMAZING. But the FOOD?! Absolutely phenomenal. You can genuinely taste the authenticity and freshness in everything. This isn't one of those places where every dish tastes like the same generic Chinese-fusion food. You can tell there is care behind each dish, from the flavors and textures to the presentation. We HAD to try literally almost EVERYTHING. And when I say we HAD to try a little bit of everything, I mean it. We ordered the chicken chow mein, beef & broccoli, orange chicken, sticky rice balls, sesame balls (8), fried veggie spring rolls (3), pork potstickers (8), AND the honey walnut shrimp with a side of steamed white rice. We basically turned our table into our own little tasting menu, and there genuinely wasn't a dish that made me regret ordering it. We were even given complimentary egg drop soup because of how much we had ordered. Anything that was supposed to be crunchy had a GRADE-A CRUNCH. The honey walnut shrimp was creamy, perfectly balanced, and easily one of my FAVORITES. The chicken chow mein was delicious, and I have to give them MAJOR credit for the orange chicken. I'm normally not a huge orange chicken person because so many places make it overly sweet or just not very palatable, but they got theirs DOWN TO A T. Even the potstickers came out with such a beautiful presentation! Yes, at first glance some of the prices might seem a little higher, but once you see the portions, taste the freshness, and experience the quality, it makes sense. I normally say "cry once, buy once," but for a restaurant like this? I would GLADLY keep coming back. The quality and experience are absolutely worth it. What honestly makes me a little sad is seeing how phenomenal this place is and knowing how easily it could get overlooked. There's so much traffic passing by--parents picking their kids up from school, people out working and grabbing lunch, or just anyone passing through--and I really hope more people stop in and give this restaurant the attention it deserves. PLEASE give this place a try and support them! I will absolutely be recommending it to my friends and family. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, beautifully presented, and properly executed. My absolute favorite out of ALL of them would have to be the Honey Walnut Shrimp -- OH MY LORD. And listen--if you're comparing this to fast-food Chinese prices, you're comparing apples to oranges. The selection included: Spicy crispy chicken (very spicy if you enjoy dried red chilis, recommended by the staff), shrimp w/broccoli, egg drop soup (the usual, nothing exceptional) and sausage fried rice made with Chinese sausage, if you've never had it try it!! We were very excited to come here . my husband and I work opposing shifts and the only day we have off together is Sunday so we generally go to dinner Sunday evening. we like to relax and enjoy our time together. We came in here for our first time because of a BOGO coupon from Albertsons. we were seated quickly and given menus right away, The waitress quickly came over for our order. We didn't even know what they served. She did take drink orders and when she came back and we ordered an appetizer and two entrées. We showed her the coupon and she said the coupon was only good if you ordered the exact same things. It doesn't say anything like that on the coupon, but we weren't gonna argue and ruin the only night all week we have together. Within two minutes, somebody brought out my dinner, and I waited for my husband's food, but it never came. We flagged on our waitress and asked her why we didn't get our appetizers first she basically said that the cook prepares the food in the order that he chooses and that he made my dinner first. It came out so quickly. I truly think it was made hours ago . We said we don't want the appetizer if we can't have it first because that's what we're used to and for us an appetizer is the first course. She then told us it was already in the system and we had to it, so I asked her to take my meal back and wait until we could have the appetizer first. so they did bring us our appetizer and then about 15 minutes later we got our meals together. I had the same meal that I was served 20 minutes before only now it was lukewarm. I enjoyed the flavors. I ordered something I'm familiar with but I'm surprised that it wasn't even reheated. Within five minutes of starting the meal our check came and then the waitress kept circling back to see if we put our credit card out. I felt very rushed. It was not a relaxing meal I think this would be a nice choice if you're getting your food to go. But not to try to sit down and enjoy a meal together. However, wait time was an issue - 20+ min for 3 issues. I can't imagine how long parties have to wait when it's busy. Ordering was easy! Once I was seated, I was given a sheet of paper to select the items I wanted! However, I noticed they were out of a lot of items and they just opened when I arrived! The Pork Xiao Long Bao ($10.95) came with 8 pieces. Each piece was pretty big and stuffed with plenty of pork! The pork was not too fatty and the soup inside was so flavorful. It tasted so fresh and delicious so this was definitely a must get! 10/10 Chicken Chow Mein ($13.95) was decent! The portion was huge and came in with plenty of ingredients! The noodles were so soft and fresh! However, it was lacking flavor and tasted quite bland. It's been quite awhile since we've dined here. We came in not expecting to see the updated interior and learned that the business is under new management. I always preferred this spot for soup dumplings. And that's what we had today. Both my husband and I each ordered the Xiao Long Bao (8pc) along with a side of Bok Choy with Garlic. Gotta get in our greens! (I really wanted the Spinach with garlic but was told they sold out yesterday.) Everything was delicious. We even ordered one more Xiao Long Bao! What I really liked about the dumplings was that the exterior did not break when grabbed with chopsticks. Pliable. Soup stayed in the dumpling until I pierced it. (At Joyee, many times dumplings stick to the paper and rips. Soup spills out. The dough can be a little chewy.) We also had tea with our meal. My husband with the Taro Milk Tea with Boba and me with the Tropica Fruit Tea. My tea was quite refreshing. I forget everything that's in it but there's jasmine tea with a mix of fruit tea, a mint leaf, and pieces of fruit - strawberry, blueberry, pineapple. My husband enjoyed his drink too. I have been coming here for years at this point when my friend lived in the apartments right behind this restaurant showed me it. All I can say is wow. Their food is extremely authentic. The dumplings are all made infront of you as you walk in. Service is EXTREMELY SLOW and missing items ordered. Including us, there are 5 tables here. I had to order a beef noodle soup with udon noodles 3 times from multiple servers. Only when the kitchen staff came to our table did the right order get delivered. I also had to order steamed rice twice. Again it didn't arrive until the kitchen staff came. Server came by once as we are finishing to refill water. The change in ownership has really hurt this place. The +1 star was for the fantastic taste of the beef noodle soup. Definitely the star of the show. I really wanted to like this place since under previous ownership their food taste, menu selection, service, and prices were excellent. This place also used to be one of the only authentic mainland chinese restaurants in the entirety of North County without having to go to Convoy or Irvine. They were very happy to help explain the drinks on the menus, and even brought my daughter her own kids plate and chopsticks to use. We stopped in for dinner. Our first impression was not great. There was only one other party in the restaurant waiting for a to go order. There was a sign at the front counter saying cash or Venmo only. (When asked they claimed their credit card connection was down, but we had noticed several other previous reviews saying cash only). Several of the tables had not been bused. A murky fish tank was near the entrance. Overall, a bland basic ambiance and not very spic and span. Since there were many good reviews on Yelp about the food and the fresh house made noodles, we decided to stay, if we could get a cold beer with our meal. We did and we were very glad to have stayed. The menu is a sheet of paper with pencil to mark what you want to order. Make sure to look for the Chef's Specials on a white board hanging on a wall listing five or six more entrees and appetizers. Once seated we were able to see them making fresh dumplings. We then noticed the excellent Motown background music. We were promptly served Ice Water and our cold beers. We decided on Crab and Pork Dumplings along with some Dan Dan Noodles. Our order was quickly prepared; it came steaming hot and it was just delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection. The Dan Dan Noodles was plenty for my wife and I to share. The house hot sauce on the table went perfect with the Dumplings. While we were there, there was a steady stream of people coming in to pick up to go orders. Also, four other parties came to dine in. Dan-dan noodles - I really liked the consistency of these slightly thick and chewy noodles. They were perfect and I usually don't care for us on or a lot of noodles in a dish. The minced meat was fine and the peanut flavor hit the savory spot. I did bite down on a chunk of peanut butter or so in there, not sure if that's normal.
