After spending our Sunday morning enjoying Discovery Lake and hiking its trails, we decided to have lunch at the nearby Campus Pointe II Plaza. There were many dining options on site, and ultimately we decided on One More Bite after seeing a cook making dumplings behind a glass wall, assuring us they were authentic and the dumplings were not from stores. The restaurant, with its modern Asian décor, was clean and quite spacious, with seating for 70+ guests. The friendly staff guided us to our table and brough water and menu right away. After browsing its extensive menu, we ordered the following dishes: Popcorn Fried Chicken: The chicken pieces were lightly battered, tasty, crispy, and mildly spicy. Pork Xiao Long Bao: This is the quintessential dish of any dumpling house and theirs was spot on. The delicate outer wrap was flawlessly steamed without any tearing, perfectly trapping the juicy broth inside. The filling was well seasoned and with very nice texture. Boiled Shrimp and Pork Dumplings: The outer layers were not soggy or overly boiled, retaining its firm but delicate texture. The filling was savory and a tad sweet. Shrimp and Pork Wonton Soup with Udon: The broth was light but flavorful, with a hint of pleasant white pepper aroma. The thick udon noodles were nicely al dente. The wontons, with savory filling, had slightly thick wraps. Rainbow Vegetable Pan Fried Dumplings: The colorful wraps really accentuated these dumplings. The outer layer had a nice firmness on top and a beautifully crispy bottom. The well minced filling was lightly seasoned and soft. Brown Sugar Rice Cakes: The rice cakes were quickly fried, creating a golden outer layer and pleasantly chewy inside. The drizzled brown sugar provided the sweet kick. Had to make a trip out here since we were already in the area, as we usually don't drive this far north unless we're leaving San Diego. I was excited to try One More Bite Dumpling House since it's a newer spot, and it definitely delivered on a few dishes. The biggest surprise of the meal was the fried octopus. I love when restaurants include the octopus legs because they get extra crispy, and this version was excellent. The seasoning had a nice kick without being overly salty, so you could still really taste the octopus itself. We also ordered the seasonal dumpling sampler, which featured different flavors for each dumpling. My favorite was the black truffle--it had a rich flavor without being overpowering. Of course, we had to try the crab xiao long bao as well. The dumplings were medium-sized, and the filling and soup were both flavorful. I'd give them a solid 4/5. Another standout was the fried pork with rice. The portion was huge, with plenty of both meat and rice. Pro tip: order the pork and rice combo instead of the pork by itself because they give you a generous serving of rice. The staff was friendly and efficient, taking the time to explain how the ordering process worked. We also had a mix-up with one of our dishes, and they fixed the issue quickly without any hassle. The restaurant was pretty busy around 5 PM, but service remained fast throughout our visit. It was full of families ranging from teens to grandmas and grandpas. It's cute and modern with nice Asian decor (xiao long bao basket covers and Chinese scripts on the ceilings). Their xiao long bao was delicious with thicker outside skin texture. The cucumber appetizer was interesting (I had never had cucumber salad like this - it wasn't the typical ones you see with the sesame oil/chili/garlic - it was mostly cucumbers drenched in what seemed like sugar and soy sauce). Also got the udon veggies and broccoli with shrimp. The portions are quite large and generous. Sauce/flavor profile for veggie udons and brocolli were quite similar. Would come back here again! Plump, juicy, tender, and well seasoned Vegetable dumplings - I appreciated that the green color of the wonton wrappers is all natural! Filling was good, but I think we got an outlier batch ... very little filling, so we ended up stuffing more veggies in them after we took a bite. A couple wontons were broken. The ambiance is nice, it is decorated appropriately with many Asian colors and designs. The customer service is good and attentive, but be mindful of a slight language barrier , so it's good to be patient with translations. I personally like this because this leans to the authenticity of the staff & establishment. Their menu is diverse with a large variety of foods to choose from and options that have varying price ranges. If you want dumplings, salt & pepper chicken, wontons, veggies or noodles, then you'll like the choices. One thing to be said is that when it's peak hours, this place can get super busy and sometimes service can be lacking. Beware of long wait times. But this is the case with most popular dining destinations. One aspect of One More Bite is that the plaza that they are located in has MINIMAL parking options. Went here due to the high reviews and didn't feel it was warranted. The dumplings were super good. I got some kind of fruit tea, which was also really good. The chicken and brocolli were okay at best. The chicken tasted a bit chewy tho. The cucumber salad was not what I was used to as it was drenched in soy sauce. It wasn't that good. Dumplings are one of my favorite comfort foods to eat, so I'm always on the lookout for a new place to try. I honestly don't get to San Marcos too often, but when I saw the reviews for this place I decided to check it out. I met up with a friend for lunch, holiday weekday. They are in a small Plaza and I didn't have any issues with parking. I went around noon and they were not too busy yet, I was seated right away. The restaurant was very clean and looked newer, they really pretty Fountain built into the wall when you walk in. The service were extremely nice and checked on me often while I waited for my friend to arrive. We trying several different dumplings including the crab and pork soup dumplings, the pork and shrimp dumplings, the beef dumplings, fried rice. Everything was so delicious, and served fresh and warm. The only thing I wish we did different was not order everything at once because the soup dumplings cold down some, which made them harder take out as they were sticking a bit. The broth however was so yummy. I really like the flavor of the rice, it wasn't Bland like some places I have tried. It also wasn't overly busy, just a good solid dish. I also ordered the Thai tea come along which was good, and they were able to make it a little less sweet by adding more of the milk as a requested. I also asked for boba. I also tried these Citrus tea with fruit in it, which was very good and I would recommend it. I would definitely add this on my list to go back. I feel like the prices were reasonable, for the amount of food that you get, and the quality was good. We ordered so much food, but it was so good we ate quite a bit of it, and took the rest home. Having been a fan of their Wildomar location, I'm excited to have this new spot closer to home. The interior is fresh, new, and has a lovely calming atmosphere. The staff was incredibly welcoming from the moment we walked in. Breakdown of our order: Beef Fried Rice: I appreciated that this arrived first, though the flavor itself wasn't particularly memorable. Crab & Pork XLB: Delicious, but definitely eat these while they're hot! Once they cooled down, the wrappers became a bit dry and chewy. Pork Shu Mai: Larger than your typical dim sum portions. They were very meaty, and the crunchy roe on top added a great texture. Pork & Shrimp Spicy Wontons: A highlight! The chili sauce is excellent, and the bok choy garnish is a nice touch. Steamed Pork Ribs: A solid classic, though I did notice ours lacked the chili peppers shown in the menu photo. House Special Fried Chicken Wings: These have a fantastic Taiwanese popcorn chicken flavor profile but in wing form. Din Tai Fung dupe!! Every variation of dumpling was sooo juicy and actually had a lot of filling, I just wish the dumpling wrapper was a bit thinner. The tofu came out hot and crispy, same with the calamari. The shiu mai are huge with tons of masago!!! The crust on the egg tarts were perfect, and they weren't too sweet. Truly the closest to a din tai fung dupe. The inside is super cute, nice decor. The staff is kind and service was quick. We got the 3 piece veggie spring rolls and those hot, crunchy and flavorful when paired with the dipping sauce. The udon beef noodles were really good too. Solid pepper flavor and the noodles were bouncy and perfect. Both dumplings and wontons were good. Skin is not as thin as DTF but the flavors were practically the same. I give One More Bite Dumpling House a four stars on Yelp! The several items I tried are good. I felt the Steamed BBQ Pork Buns dough was pretty close to the taste and texture of the original. Beef and Broccoli were just too sweet and the beef was rubbery. Spare Ribs were delicious. Xia long bao was good. The Spicy Shrimp and Pork Wontons were good but I wish they had egg noodles with their soup wontons. Udon is good but for $16.99. Prices are steep but a few dollars cheaper than other restaurants. My only down side is most of the items are cooked ob the sweeter side as Shanghainese food is sweeter than Cantonese style. Service was very nice and ambiance is clean. This is for a 3.6 rating. The restaurant has a nice ambiance. There's a pretty water art display right as you enter on the left followed by three Chinese ladies making dumplings thru a glass. Most of the tables were taken and we were seated right away. First thing you notice on the menu is dim sum of 3 pcs like the shrimp and pork shumai for $7.50. We ordered the pork xiao long bao, shrimp and pork wonton soup, and shrimp fried udon with black pepper sauce. The shrimp and pork wonton soup came with 6 wontons and were pretty basic. The shrimp fried udon was tasty but udon noodles are not traditionally part of Chinese cuisine. Last but not least, pork xiao long bao had a good amount of soup but the filling was rolled into a ball so it was a bit weird hitting into it. Also, the bao dough was too thick same like the wontons. It is beautifully decorated with an open kitchen, and great service. We arrived before the dinner rush so we had the option to pick a table or booth. Many people came in after us so it was pretty full when we were done. Alas its food was just average to my taste. I wondered whether this is the best option in San Marcos. Already familiar with the Murrieta location, this is the newly opened, smaller San Marcos branch. Food is great (same as Murrieta), good options for vegans/vegetarians, shareable portions. Service is spectacular, sat down with waters already on the table, food came out quickly. Downsides (which do not reduce the rating, just be aware): parking is insanely tight, the shopping center is overburdened with restaurants. Expect to park on the street and walk down. Place was slammed on a Friday night, but there is a digital check in that texts you when your table is ready, for two people at 6 pm it was about a 15-20 min wait. Table turnover is fast. Though the menu seemed extensive and overwhelming in an online order forum, we finally settled on Pork Spicy Wonton, Chicken Fried Udon, Crab and Pork and Crab Xian Long Bao, Chicken and Corn Pan Fried. Dumplings. The order process was very easy and the food was ready upon pick up. We immediately tried a Chicken and Corn Pan Fried Dumpling on our way home. It was nicely cooked juicy, and the chicken was quality inside. When we've got home, we served up a little of each food and we're very pleased. The udon noodles, we're done to perfection just the right amount of chewy and softness. The flavor combination of the Pork Spicy Wonton left us craving more. The Pork and Crab Xian Long Bao was a perfect blend of the 2 proteins. Everything was so delicious, we had a second helping. Everything is new so it's very clean, and they got pretty cool decor. I saw this place highly recommended on a reel for vest dumplings in San Diego and I honestly should have known better. This place is decent if you're in San Marcos and want to stay in San Marcos. I was that clown that drove up from SD proper just to try this place. The major flaw I found which is consistent across all their dumplings is that the meat filling is too dense. It's like eating a ikea meatball no matter what different meat filling you chose. Like if I threw a normal XLB filling against a wall it would make a splat and drip down to the wall. If I threw their dumpling filling against the wall it would bounce back in my face. Their XLB skins are also the chewy type so whether you like it will depend on your preference. Pork XLB: 3/5 Crab XLB: 3/5 Spicy wonton: 4/5 (sauce is good) Pan fried chicken and corn dumpling: 3/5 I also overheard who I think is the manager (older lanky guy of the wait staff) say to one of the waitress in Chinese "你们美国人脑子都这么x的吗...." Which roughly translates to are you Americans brains all that dumb/slow. I wasn't sure if he was referring to her or the doordash order they were having a meltdown with on the phone. This is my absolute favorite dumpling house in North County. Outside of my favorite dim sum classics, my favorite One More Bite Dumping dish has become the fried sticky rice dumpling with ground pork. So much so, I often place an additional order at the end of my meal to take home. My number two dish is their pork chop egg fried rice. My husband can't get enough of their steamed pork ribs, his favorite dim sum. Parking can be a butt due to the lack of spaces and the types of businesses the lot serves (i.e. 7-11, barber shop, etc.).
