Throughout our dining all you hear are the staff greating regulars and asking about the family members that aren't present and sharing stories about their personal lives. An extremely great experience 2. Food: We ordered the Happy Family, Eggplant, Lo mein, and orange beef. Great food at a great price is what it is all about it. Why spend $60 at McDonald's to feed your family with processed food when you can support a family owned business doing it better? Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. 3. Cleanliness: From the dining area to the rest rooms, there were no grounds for concern. It was an all around pleasant experience. In 58 years of marriage, my wife and I have only twice every visited the same restaurant two days in a row. We have been looking for really good quality Chinese food near us in San Marcos for several years. We have tons of choices for Asian food... but Chinese seems to be harder to find nowadays. We saw a recommendation on Next door but couldn't remember the name so I went on AI and the recommended one showed up... but also "Panda Garden" showed up with 1/10th higher review rating on more reviews. So we decided to give another restaurant unknow to us a try. What a great surprise. The ambiance and cozy inviting feel was evident immediately. Friendly greetings and graceful cordiality drove home the first impression. This is not fast food. That doesn't mean the service is slow... the service caring and constant. The music was soft... calming... enjoyable and perfectly chosen. The menu is extensive... but guiding help is just a smile away. The Food is the best part though. The first visit we were in for a late lunch and just got under the 3:00pm lunch menu cutoff. We both had the Lunch Special which included Egg drop soup (Soup of the day), Fried noodles, dipping sauce, and Egg Roll (Appetizer), Rice and Entree. I chose "Happy Family", Beef, Shrimp, and Chicken with mixed Vegetables in a rich brown sauce. Terri had "Chicken and Bok Choy" in a gorgeous delicious white sauce. Both Lunches were simply outstanding. So the next day we went back for Dinner. Everything was still as good as we remembered. We decided on two of the Chef's Special Family Dinners, Dinner C. "Mandarin Dinner". Terri chose "Almond Chicken", I tried the "Combination Chop Suey". Both were just wonderful. We left stuffed again... this time with two "Doggie Bags" with another leftover meal to look for to. We are so Happy! Dropped in for a quick lunch. Service was excellent and quick. The place was comfy and quiet. The food was delicious. Finding a place like this is rare these days. I've found me new go to spot for a bite when not craving a taco or burger in the area. Lunch specials are an excellent value and provide so many options to choose from. I have been here a few times and enjoyed it. It's very nostalgic for me as it reminds me of the Chinese food I grew up eating. The wontons with the plum sauce and Chinese mustard, the wonton and egg drop soups, the mushu, the fried shrimp, kung pao chicken all taste exactly like dishes I had when I was younger. It's such comfort food for me and it transports me to another place and time. The staff is helpful and accommodating. They answer my questions throughly and patiently. I occasionally have to ask for a water refill but they are prompt when I do. I've gotten different items every visit and I can't wait to work my way through the menu. It's been 2 years since I first tried this restaurant and they gained a star since my last review. The hot tea was nice on the cold night we had dinner. The salt and pepper wings are why I came back and they did not disappoint! Crunchy outside and juicy inside . I got the happy family again too which I like because it has beef, shrimp, and chicken. Tried the crystal shrimp and scallops which was light and delicious. I love snow peas and both entrees came with them. Also got pork egg foo young to go which was really good too! The gravy has tons of stuff in it and the patties were perfect. Our server was really nice and it was almost full in the restaurant when we came. I will come back for the wings again! read more

Great service and amazing food! Our server, Jenny, was absolutely wonderful! She was very nice, attentive and lots of fun! We tried a few of the lunch specials, Garlic Chicken, Almond Chicken and the Happy Family. All of them had tons of flavor and all of the proteins were cooked perfectly. The Egg Drop Soup was flavorful and perfectly seasoned. The restaurant was very clean and it is obvious the staff takes great pride in their jobs and the restaurant. Jenny made sure to invite us back and told us dinner time would be a great time to have us come back. We needed good Chinese food and a friend recommended this place. We ordered a bunch of things- fried chicken wings, combo soft low mein, general tsao chicken, and the happy family. The combo soft low mein was awesome, plentiful and has a lot of meat. Everything else was a tad bit salty. The general tsao chicken was too crunchy and the chicken pieces weren't big enough, mostly battered. The happy house was plentiful but again, pretty salty. This is my first time placing a pick up order from here. Food and pictures look delicious however the process of online orders and waiting there is a disappointment. First, there was a line of waiting customers outside to be seated and no one to have them seated. You lost, about 15 customers. My order showed 25-30 minutes should be available via email. Why are we still waiting and its almost an hour? Came in give or take shy of 30 minutes and waited. Still nothing, I get it, its busy but no acknowledgement or apology for an estimated time while telling customers it should take 25 to 30 minutes. We only ordered 3 dishes. Have more staff and provide a better customer experience. If you are going to have an automated email suggesting a time it is ready be picked up then meet your deadline or communicate with the customer that there was a mess up with online orders and it is delayed. Went here for the first time with some coworkers for lunch: it's a good time to go for their lunch specials. They have about 27 items to choose from under $10 with rice, soup and an egg roll. I decided to order the House Family: it was a mix of chicken, beef, (I think pork?) and vegetables. It was pretty good but it was doused in sauce which is not my preference but it was tolerable. They have consistent, predictable food, friendly staff, they're quick, and we always have leftovers to bring home (I'm a tragic over-orderer, but I love variety). My favorite dishes are actually their vegetable dishes, like bok choy or eggplant.
