First time visiting this location after my usual Dickie's in Clairemont closed (sad face). This restaurant seems to have a smaller overall store footprint, but still retains all the feels of from the other Dickie's locations I've patronized over the years. I dropped my same day order via their app and popped in after the scheduled pickup time because I knew it would be busy and they would likely be behind schedule--they were. The hardworking staff were doing their best to fill orders with the team members they had on deck. They easily could have used at least 1-2 more to cover the rush but I'm sure it's hard to justify those costs between busy spikes like Independence Day weekends. Anywho, after a bit of waiting in the store I was able to confirm my order and carry it out. I should have spent my time more wisely and filled up several small containers of their signature sauce while I waiting for my order to be filled. Normally, I can request a small container of sauce but it was crazy busy and I was just happy to get my order and that it was correct so I could return to feed my hungry family. - Brisket was solid. - Same with the pulled pork. - Seems like the yummy biscuits were recently replaced with a pitiful version of Texas toast; or perhaps that's just what this location offers. - Small salad is a joke here - Beans are still a favorite of me and my kids - Fries were a soggy mess Not a bad first visit. The meats were solid, which really are the key selling point here for me and the fam. Didn't like the Texas toast here at all or the sad excuse for a salad. I'll stick with beans, fried okra with mac & cheese for my sides next visit. It was a bit of a drive but Still worth a visit when it's too hot and I'm too lazy to cue myself.

I don't usually review chain restaurants, but after a full daddy-son day, we were both wiped and hungry. I was craving some southern BBQ, searched nearby spots, and saw Dickey's pop up about 5 miles away. Decided to give it a shot even though the reviews online had mixed reactions. Glad I did. This place is under new ownership and it's a completely different experience now. The food is way better, the vibe is better, and honestly the old reviews don't do it justice anymore. When we walked in, it had a clean setup but still gave that southern BBQ feel. I ordered sliced brisket, smoked chicken, and smoked turkey. All of it was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. For sides I got baked beans and mac and cheese, plus Texas toast. Everything came out hot and tasted legit. My son kept stealing bites off my plate, so that's how you know it was good. The guy running the front was cool too. Real friendly, made us feel welcome right away. Gave off a solid BBQ joint vibe. Overall, this spot impressed me. It's a great little spot for BBQ, especially after a long day with the kid. Definitely coming back.

Dickey's is under new ownership! Food was perfectly cooked and a good size portion. The only thing that could make this better is some fluffy cornbread! It's nice to see the part owner/manager there on a constant basis to ensure everyone is running smooth.

This is a 3 meat plate! Wow...really this was $19.00 I'm so disappointed

Noticed a New Owners sign and decided to give this place a try once more! Nash greeted me and was so excited and fired up for their reopening - I ordered a few sandwiches per his suggestion- I hope they can turn the reviews and business around

This was my first time trying Dickey's Barbecue Pit. I like to order the family combo or combo meals in bbq places. I like that you can try a little bit of everything they have to offer. Different meats and sides. I ordered the family combo for $89.99 for myself and my family. We got the pork ribs and sliced brisket. I was expecting whole slices. This brisket looked like pulled pork. I just feel when you cut brisket this way it drys out faster. The ribs were really good. The meat was falling off the bone. And when you check in on yelp, you get a free sandwich. I picked the turkey sandwich. I forgot to take a picture of it. It was ok. The sides we picked were Bbq baked beans, they were good. Loaded mashed potatoes. They weren't to our liking. They felt like they need some kind of gravy to go with it. We also got Mac and cheese. That Mac and cheese was so disappointing. They were cold. Not even lukewarm. Such a waste of a side option. We didn't even eat it. The ladies that worked at this restaurant were really nice. But, if they had checked the food temps on the Mac and cheese they would've known right away that the Mac and cheese needed to be warmed up. Another thing that I didn't like about this restaurant was the bathrooms. They have 2 unisex bathrooms. Both bathrooms were dirty. And I mean dirty! They both looked like they haven't been clean in a while. I walked out and told the girls working that both bathrooms were dirty. They said they would look. But I have no clue if they had cleaned them. I probably won't be back to this restaurant. If I'm craving bbq, I will go to the Rib Shack in Fallbrook or Firehouse Que & Brew in Fallbrook.

Always when I come here the owner is such a positive and enthusiastic individual. No matter what he will make things right by his business. Always when I order everything is fresh including the French fries; they start cooking your right as you arrive. I love this place for good barbecue

Front counter where you order food :)

This place is under new management and it shows! The service is fantastic, the food is sooooo much better now! The prices a good especially for being BBQ, the meats were nice and juicy, not dried out. We ordered pulled pork sandwiches, the westerner and jalapeño sausages. We met the new owner and they were so grateful for the business and even voiced how thankful they are to have good help. You don't see that often. We will be returning!

We were seated on the patio--which was fine because we had our 2 year old with us--but it was 80 degrees out and not a lot of air flow. Our server's name was Kyra or Kyla--I'm not too sure because it was hard to hear her over the music playing. She was nice enough but there must've been sort of disconnect with our toddler's meal. Either she forgot to put it in the POS system and asked the kitchen to quick fire it or the kitchen was in the weeds and we weren't made aware of the situation. Nonetheless, we purposely put the kid's burger in when we put our appetizer in. Her burger didn't come out until 45 minutes after the appetizer got to our table! I'm not exaggerating either--515 we got our fries and then at 6pm a child's hamburger...on a Tuesday! Our entrees were finished and we asked for the bill before it even came out. I shouldn't have had to check on it as a server's job is to know what your table has ordered and make sure it actually gets to the table. I'm extremely disappointed that there was no apology, no discount or comp. to our meal because of this mistake. We won't be returning.

Not in a training type way just courtesy checks. Most people dining, when we came on a less busy Tuesday, were enjoying the fresh air and turf views on the outside back patio area. That's where we usually frequent but I wanted a booth inside-so that's where we dined. The few booths are located in the bar region. I could still look out and see the happenings outside & that's also what I prefer. Very open floor concept to this establishment. They had baseball on so we were able to keep up with teams' scores (although we couldn't see both the Sox play one another as we hoped that we could). Frankie told us some stories to his family ties to the east coast as well so that was fun. That he'd like to have glimpses of the game too if only they had that particular channel it was on. They decorate seasonally and currently because it's soccer FIFA season they have fun and whimsically have placed soccer themed decor throughout their restaurant. They're currently offering international type cocktails for $10 too. So how can we not pass up a caipirinha that had a different spin to it than an original regular caipirinha would have. Theirs has passion fruit flavor to it. I enjoyed it immensely. Kinda funny when you peep the bar tender peeping you take a mini photoshoot of their creation! For dinner we came in with the plan to share Birria tacos and a Beet Arugula salad. And to enjoy a glass of Orfila wine and to also get our wine pick-up. It used to be three tacos for $17 but since they had changed their menu and business design it's now 2 for $17. The tacos are very filling an hence our pre planned idea to do a shared dining experience. So we still opted to do that even tho we weren't getting the third taco this visit. The tacos and beet salad did not disappoint. The tacos come with their house-made EPIC salsa rather than consommé. I keep saying they need to bottle that because I'd definitely buy that for home consumption! Everyone I have talked to about it agrees it's pretty darn amazing salsa! I particularly noticed the new staff attire. It really does make a difference to see clear name tags and a more uniform look in order to be able to distinguish who works there. Until next time Brickmans! Cheers.

Everything is always delicious and delightful. Service at this walk-up coffee area is friendly. There is plenty of seating outside, in the front or back of the open-air market, and lingering for hours is encouraged. I like taking a walk around the perimeter farm while I'm there as well. There is an apothecary and a brewery on the premises, as well as a coffee roasting area. This part of the farm always seems to be closed for a private event, but that just adds to the bustling and community atmosphere. There is a couch area with a fire pit (and one in the back) in addition to the assortment of tables, a huge grass area and a natural (wood) climbing structure for kids to play, and sometimes they have live music there. The hostess, who claimed she was also vegetarian was quick to point out all the vegetarian options some can be converted to vegan by omitting the cheese or dairy ingredient. There's a nice tall bar upstairs with stools and one TV for watching news or sports. Apparently they have a brunch weekends only with a menu that also looks very inviting. The property has a large selection of bottled wines, a micro brewery and a coffee bean brewery. Family friendly, a nice place to go to get a bite and drink, stretch your legs, enjoy fresh air (although a bit dusty near parking lot). Country music is playing loudly in and around the property. Today was the last straw. Our order was handed to us incorrectly, and when I pointed out that we had all been given the same thing, an employee named Hudson immediately responded with, "Do we have a problem?" Completely unnecessary and incredibly unprofessional. I told him to chill because the attitude was obvious. Instead of simply fixing the order, we were met with arrogance and hostility over a mistake that wasn't even ours. What makes it worse is that this attitude seems to come from the top. In my experiences here, the owner has also come across as cocky, dismissive, and like he has a chip on his shoulder. When ownership carries itself that way, it's not surprising when the staff starts treating customers the same way. As someone who actually grew up in San Marcos, it's disappointing to walk into a local business in my own hometown and be treated like I'm inconveniencing them by being there. I support local businesses and want to see San Marcos spots succeed, but basic respect and customer service should not be too much to ask. Wrong order, unnecessary confrontation, terrible attitude, and an overall hostile experience. I won't be coming back.

And they even have fun events, like square dance lessons, etc... it's really a great place. I almost gave four stars though because of the hostesses . They were a little too casual & laid back. After seeing us enter, we still stood around and watched them chat for a few minutes (not seconds) before the manager directed their attention to us . And even though their vibes were cool, the manager (who's amazing) shouldn't have to manage basic tasks. Hopefully the next round of hires will ease her work load. We will definitely be back! This place is cool :-).

The Great - The food The Good - The location The Bad - The lack of service The Ugly - Same Sets has never been jam packed when we've been, but we've always been treated like they are. The latest adventure was yesterday. The person delivering the food asked if we needed anything, we asked for ketchup and never saw the person again. I went inside and asked our server for ketchup, she said she'd be right there. After about 5 minutes, someone (I assume the manager) asked if we needed something. We asked for ketchup again, and she brought it. Another five minutes passed and the server brought us ketchup. We were never checked on by our server. The manager did eventually check on us after our drinks were empty, but by that point we decided we were done and would go have an after-dinner drink somewhere else. Very sad to give up on Sets, but after 3 attempts in a years time, only to get the same poor service, we've decided to not go back.

Pretty diverse menu, the chicken fried steak and michelada were hittin. The eggs Benedict was cooked as you'd expect. The waiter recommended the breakfast potatoes and those were cooked and salted well. One of the waiters is super hospitable and friendly. He put a smile on her faces every time he passed by. Service was quick and easy, no issues. They did swap their sign to close 30 min before closing so keep that in mind as we saw one family got turned away on a Sunday. Can't wait to try their waffles and loco moco and drinks next time!

Went here with 5 other people and almost all our meals had something wrong. Either our food was raw/undercooked, unsalted, cold, or semi stale; there was always something wrong with our food. I should've know when I stepped into this place and it was full but almost everyone there would leave their plates as if they didn't eat anything. I as well had seen two tables complaining about something wrong with their order. To me this place is a flavorless place with a weird ambiance. The servers are not the nicest either, just a place ran by a bunch of clueless staff. Especially those in the kitchen since nothing was really good or stood out in a positive manner. If you expect seasoned and delicious food, I would not recommend this place.
