One of my go-to comfort spots. A must order for me every time is the honey garlic wings. They are just the perfect mixture of sweet and savory and this location always makes the crispiest wings. The marinated radish also provides the perfect refreshment each wing. Service is also quite attentive- they provide a container for bones and also a pair of gloves per person to help prevent the eating process from getting too messy.

Rose Pasta

They have a huge variety of different Korean Fried Chicken flavors, the most I've seen from a restaurant. I recommend ordering their Honey Garlic/soy Garlic Wings, super crispy and crunchy. My friends and I agreed that the best thing to order here is actually the rose pasta, super creamy, rich in flavors and pricing is very affordable. bb.q chicken actually has one of best pasta I've tried in Oregon I would argue it's worth coming here only for the pasta. 4/5 Stars since out of the 3 times I've been here, services are very slow even during an odd hour on a weekday. They also almost never have specific flavors of chicken we wanted. Their fried chickens are also a bit expensive compared to other restaurants.

1/2 chicken with secret sauce

This place is so much fun. Good beer, fried chicken with great sauces, big screen TV sets all around, what's not to like? Dinner for 5 tonight. I had the 1/2 chicken with secret sauce. The sauce was great, but do watch out for fine bones in the whole chicken entrees. We had a mozzarella stick appetizer which was fine, what can you really do with breaded deep-fried cheese? The youngster had the chicken Alfredo which was OK - the chicken and sauce was good, but was not the creamiest ever. Two orders of the boneless winger and the Gangnam style was the big winner. Service was fine, our beer arrived promptly and our entrees came in a reasonable time. The ambiance is nice with high ceilings, though it was a little chilly in there - bring a jacket. Hope to come back and try some more sauce flavors!!

Allergy warnings, are they not careful about cross contamination in the kitchen?
Angela E.

I guess I got lucky when I ate here without an issue! The allergy list that the restaurant has posted is absolutely insane, it truly makes me wonder how serious they are about cross contamination for common allergens. The chicken itself was fairly good but extremely pricey for what you get. The staff were friendly and had nice suggestions for ordering and the restaurant itself was very modern and sleek.

Overall, a 3.75/5. The wings were delicious and well flavored! They were bigger than expected, so full on wings, I anticipated like the bite size but it was equally as good. The atmosphere was super cute, spread out and looked even better in the evening. We went for a girls lunch date but would definitely return for a girls night out! The service was good, started off well but sort of declined as time went on. I understand given the influx of people but we did have to ask for water after multiple of us had empty glasses for a while. Overall, a decent experience and I'd be interested in giving more things a try.

This is the fourth time I've been here and today I was very disappointed. The chicken was soggy and hardly crispy. Which is one of the main selling points of Korean fried chicken. The crispiness. Some of the chicken we ordered hardly had any breading on it at all. Just slabs of saucy chicken. So sad. I brought people from out of state here for a great experience and I was so sad we came here. The place was not busy there was maybe 1 or 2 other tables. It felt like the food was rushed and the quality seriously suffered. The service was not up to par either. It's like we got forgotten about and had to find someone to come help us. Again, not busy... I was really sad to leave this review but I only hope it will cause them to investigate what's going on until he kitchen cause what I was served was not the normal BB.Q!

Came on a weekday when it wasn't busy. The restaurant had some tables that needed to be bussed. Other than that it was clean. We were seated immediately. The waitress came and brought water. Looked at the menu and decided on what to order. took a good 20 minutes before she came back to take the order. The slushy was too sweet for my taste. The orders came out after another 20 minutes. It was fresh and tasty. It took another 20 minutes after finishing for someone to come check if everything was okay, and to bring out the bill. They weren't understaffed so that wouldn't be the issue. Hopefully the owners have worked with their staff to strengthen their customer service.

Rose Tteokbokki

Another AHMAZING tteokbokki place, a little sad that you have to pay extra for cheese but its definitely not that big of a deal considering how absolutely flavorful this dish is. I loved the consostency of the sauce and the spice level was perfect. we got this for takeout and the wait time was not long. Also i might have finished the whole thing in one sitting...

This is my favorite spot for Korean wings in the Portland Metro area! I'll be comparing this place to Chimcking which is just across the street. What I love - the BIGGEST Korean wings I've ever had - really good crunch and comes out HOT - lots of different flavor options - rose ddotboki is creamy and not too spicy, try dipping the wings in this!! - reasonably priced at $1.80-$1.88 per wing depending on if you order S/M/L What can be improved - Soy garlic is almost there, but I prefer a stronger garlic taste. Chimcking does soy garlic better! - A lot of the other flavors are very similar tasting even though there is a variety of flavors. Would be nice if they were better differentiated. - I've really only ever gone on weekdays, but pretty much wait times are around 20 mins or more. Other thoughts This place and Chimcking are my go-to Korean chicken spots. However, I like this place a little better for the size of their wings and the batter crunch quality. Their classic soy garlic is ALMOST as good as Chimcking's soy garlic but everything else keeps me coming back here.

I was super excited to try this place out for date night as I've been craving some crispy fried chicken and I will tell you that the texture that they get on the chicken wings is something that would be truly difficult to create at home. Whenever I try a new place out, I always wonder if my expectations fall short because I just ended up ordering the wrong thing. We got their secret sauce wings, as well as as their spicy Gangnam Style. But to us, we just felt like the flavors blended together and were a little lackluster, it seems like the chicken should've been marinated in more salt before being coated with the batter. It felt more like a sticky glaze without any real kick to it. We even thought the server just put in the wrong order since he forgot my drink for 20 mins as well. The ambience of the place was nice. The service was alright for a Friday night. Would love to try this place again sometime and maybe other things on the menu.

Kyle C.

We got the soy garlic and regular and another flavor. I think the fact that I cannot remember the other flavor means that we weren't as impressed as we initially thought we would be. The plus side is that the wings are massive! They're super filling so don't be surprised if you have left overs. The down side was that the menu wasn't very clear on how you can and cannot mix and match the flavors. Our waitress wasn't very clear either. They weren't very busy but the service was definitely lacking. Also, the wings were super crunchy, almost too crunchy for my preference. I'd like to try the galbi flavor next time but not sure that I'd find myself going out of my way to try it.

There are chicken wings, and then there are chicken wings from bb.q Chicken! I got the hot spicy because that's how I roll. It takes about 20 minutes for your order to arrive. I don't know exactly what they do during those 20 minutes, but I do know that what ends up on your plate is close to perfection. It wasn't extremely hot like some other places might make it. It had heat with a touch of sweetness, just how I like it. The texture was perfect. The outside was crispy. The moment you take a bite, you get the crispiness, but you also get the soft chicken meat underneath, which is equally delicious. The Rosé Ddeok-Bokki was quite good; the flavor was excellent. The rice cakes themselves were spot on, so chewy and satisfying The wait time, as I mentioned, was about 20 minutes, but everything tasted so good, and the service was excellent.

Fried dumplings

We went twice in three days because the food is 5 stars! After avoiding it for the first couple of months due to the long wait times, we were finally able to just walk in. Pro tip they have reservations on their website. Ok. The service was hit and miss, I ordered a slush that never came, cheese was added to our rice without asking and we didn't get water refilled for the whole meal. The food is on the expensive side and the smallest order is 8 wings. I wish it was 4 or 5 as I'd like to try more sauces. Ok. The food... oh my goodness, they're the largest and best wings of any Korean place we've been to in Portland! The boneless are pieces of thigh meat and the bone in wings are huge pieces! There is a crispy exterior and lots of sauce on each piece. Favorite sauces are the secret (tangy and mild spice) sauce, spicy galbi (Smoky, tangy and not too spicy), Hot Mala (really spicy with China Chinese 5 spice flavor) and the Gangnam (peppery and mild spice). The cheesing was like Kraft mac n cheese power all over it. It's a little weird but yummy. Thought the fried dumplings were plain and not great. The Kimchee and the chicken fried rice is spicy and amazing! Add the cheese and it's even better. Oh and ask for the free pickled radish! It's amazing!

Cheesling and spicy!

It has been open for less than a year at their only Oregon location here at Hillsboro. On our last day in Portland, my wife, her mom, and I stopped in for fried chicken on our way to the airport. We were all jolly when we left. I've really come to appreciate the consistency of Jollibee's chicken fried chicken. Unlike some of their competitor's, where the chicken breading might be coming off because it has been sitting under a heat lamp too long, their chickenjoy breading is crispy and their meat juicy. All of us had already eaten breakfast at the hotel we had been staying at, so weren't particularly hungry. Thus, just got a 3 pc Cjoy combo meal ($18.49, no tax) with 3 pieces of spicy, dark meat chicken (2 drums, one thigh), a biscuit (fluffy and tasty), two sides (mash potatoes and fries) and fountain drink. It also comes with a cup of brown gravy, meant to be used as dip for the fried chicken. Brown gravy with fried chicken has become something I seek out now. The fries are very similar to McDonald's and the mashed potatoes to KFC. In both cases, that is a good thing. I got a pager and it went off about 10 minutes afterwards, so got up to bring the chicken back. They have a self serve soda fountain. It is expensive though for a fast food chain, with no value-type menu available yet. Fil-Ams are loyal to this chain, and seem to be OK with the slightly higher price. It will be interesting if they ever choose to expand, what they would do to draw in non-Filipinos.

Come back for lunch and try the Taqueria side of the menu, all house made with fresh, quality ingredients, diverse fillings (birria, chicken, lengua, carnitas, al pastor (my personal fave) and even tripa). Along with flavorful salsas at the amazing salsa bar, El Jefe's preparation is simple and authentic. Our first visit we ordered the Whole Chicken Meal combo ($24): a whole perfectly seasoned and grilled chicken (cut up after grilling) with two sides and a pile of corn tortillas. The owner is a (I think) a Japanese fellow and I believe everyone who works here is family. There's often a young girl at the counter who I suppose is his grand daughter. She is very sweet and very bubbly. You walk in and get a big smile and an enthusiastic hello. I only go now an then but she treats me like I am a regular she sees every day. I go up to the counter and she knows what I order... always chicken teriyaki. I don't have to say a thing. She rings me up and a few minutes later I have a hot, tasty meal in front of me. There are a few "rice bowl" type businesses in Cedar Mill and they are all good. But Kokos is the best! I'd encourage my fellow Yelpers to check them out if they haven't already. The prices are very fair especially for what you get. A filling, tasty, healthy meal. I don't know if they do this for everyone but the owner is always there and sometimes works the counter. He gives me the veterans discount which knocks a little off the usual, already low price. Plus I get double the meat so now it's a very inexpensive lunch in a container that is just packed with food. Hence the reason for this review refresh. I don't think they make much of a profit and being in the mall I'm sure their overhead is high. The folks there work very hard and likely don't get paid much. Dunno if they are native Americans or immigrants but they are living the American dream. I'm sure one day all that hard work will pay off and they will be very successful. But given how nice they are to me I'm sure they lose money every time I show up for lunch. So I very much appreciate their kindness and generosity. They don't make much money but they generate a lot of goodwill.... wanted to pay it forward in some small way by posting this glowing and well deserved five star review. I hope Kokos will be here for a long time. It's one of the few restaurants I can still afford to patronize. A nice meal that someone else cooks for me has become a rare treat in my life. So THANKS!
