I'm a huge sucker for cute and cozy cafes, and this place is one of the cutest and the coziest! It has a charming back patio that is just perfect to sit and relax in while you enjoy your drink. One of the best parts about this place is how welcome and at home you feel. The guy working there was so sweet and charismatic, I honestly felt like I was talking with an old friend. He recommended two delicious teas for us to try and described all of the daily biscuits and baked goods they had. Unfortunately I was too full from lunch to try any of their biscuits (which looked and sounded amazing), but the teas were delicious, and that's coming from someone who's usually more of a coffee person. I don't live in the neighborhood, but I won't let that stop me from coming by regularly whenever I can. And next time I'll definitely get a biscuit! read more

I went to this place a while back, it's really a hidden gem. I had just come home from Naples, Italy and was searching for a comparable espresso to what I'd just had in Naples (I never found that, but it's ok, it's famous for a reason). This place was just so adorable with a little garden out back that you can go and sit in. The staff were so incredibly helpful and friendly and tried to help me find what I was looking for, suggesting a ristretto in place of a normal espresso as I was looking for something heavier than the espressos I had gotten since coming back to the US. It wasn't what I was looking for, but like I said, I still haven't found it here. This coffee shop is a gem, and a neighborhood staple. read more

A Richmond District gem. I typically go for places with speciality drinks which this place doesn't have -- it's just a regular coffee/tea/pastry menu, however the ambiance really makes this place special. Lots of seating but tight so it feels cozy -- huge garden outside to get some fresh air or take work breaks. Excellent option for people who need to study or get work done. I went on a Friday at noon so every seat was filled but it aired out and was empty by 2. Looking forward to coming back and checking out what's at night! Great service as well. read more

My favorite neighborhood cafe. I love going here to grab a decaf espresso drink and biscuit. If you ever stop by here, I recommend taking to time to enjoy your drink in the shop. This place is a hidden gem! The baristas are amiable and everything on their menu looks so good! I ordered caramel rose latte and it was incredible!! It was creamy and the right amount of sweetness with generous amount of rose petals on top! If you enjoy your coffee strong, I'd order double shot but I was pleasantly surprised with this cup of coffee. They also have a nice outdoor patio area which I adore. Quick shout out to Zai (apologies for spelling if incorrect!) lovely, bubbly, smiley person behind the counter. They asked how I was doing, and I answered honestly that it's been a pretty disappointing day (completely unrelated to my coffee shop experience... just one of those days). I order, and Zai insisted that the coffee was on the house and refused to accept payment. I could have cried. I had a day off of work, and things kept going wrong, or were consistently being derailed. And then Zai treated me with kindness and that simple act turned the day around and broke the cycle of one thing going wrong after another. Really appreciated this human connection. A true hidden gem, safe for Covid times! Stopped by because of the nearby excellent plant nursery and dim sum, and found this little gem of a coffee shop! The service was amazing, the inside loaded with local art display, the backyard whimsical, and the Roiboos latte heart-warming on a cold day. Bazaar Cafe is a cute little cafe in the Richmond district, a few blocks from the Presidio. We stopped by today after a hike in the Presidio to try out Bazaar Cafe since I had a buy one get one free beer coupon for them in my Broke A*s Stuart SF Beer Passport. We ordered the quiche of the week (greek artichoke quiche) and their Tommy pesto sandwich, and got 2 fort point beers- the manzanita and KSA. While it was a somewhat limited menu, I was impressed by the variety of vegetarian options and there appeared to be lots of great baked goods in the display box. The price was definitely reasonable as well for SF. We grabbed our beers and enjoyed them in the back garden area. Definitely a hidden oasis in the city. Our food came out and was served with an arugula salad. Both dishes were tasty, but nothing necessary stand out. The most standout feature was the back garden for sure and just the overall chill vibes of the place. We had a nice experience and may come back to try some of the baked goods and coffee for our next visit. read more

The owner gave us a discount on the (tasty!) wine during the rental period and helped with food service. And today was one of those days, except today I bought one of their biscuits...for my dessert. Jamie W. took me for a drive for a change, and we ended up at Land's End where we strolled above the baths and around the bend to the vista point for the Golden Gate. You know the drill. Anyway, I bookmarked a tea spot that sounded interesting, Tal-Y-Tara Tea & Polo Shoppe, which apparently is half tea parlor, half equestrian equipment shop. Seriously. We walked up to it to find it closed for renovations. Damn. Well, Jamie needed to run some errands, so I decided to take a stroll down California Street in the Avenues by myself, something I had not done since I was knee-high to a man, yeah. Gave me a piece of mind my daddy never had. Sorry for the detour into "Philadelphia Freedom" but hey, Elton wrote a great song (video: http://bit.ly/2mLM8fA). Besides, I couldn't help tapping my foot because I stumbled upon a cafe that obviously has music on its mind since they offer intimate shows almost every night of the week at 7PM. There are guitars and French horns in the window, so you know they mean business (photo: http://bit.ly/2nqNxXb). When I got there, it was just a laptopper haven with eyes focused strictly on their screens and nothing else. In fact, the only one to make eye contact was the industrious Asian woman who was pleasant as can be. I was just looking to warm myself and ordered a $2 cup of hot tea, the Orange Ginger from the Republic of Tea, one of my favorites since the orange bergamot mint soothed while the ginger provided a mild spiciness as contrast (photo: http://bit.ly/2mLTuQ6). Holy wow! I thought this place was a coffee shop, but I wandered in tonight and had a really nice glass of red wine and literally the BEST MEAL I've had in a year or more -- the yummy curry dish, which they describe as "Japanese style with a South African twist." I was a little skeptical at that combo - my taste in curries leans towards Thai -- but it was so mind-bogglingly good that for a few minutes I couldn't even pay attention to the music, which was also AWESOME. Which brings me to the second amazing thing about this place - live ORIGINAL music -- all acoustic and unplugged, with folks actually listening instead of shouting to hear each other over a deafening PA system. This is only the second time I've been here, but both times left me with a super peaceful and yummy feeling of having spent a magical evening in a special and intimate space, with great talent and a cozy community. Nourishing to body and soul. What a treasure this place is. I will be going back often. read more

This is probably the coziest cafe I've been to in this area without being too kitschy. I ordered an oat milk latte and a quiche which came with a side salad. I think the type of quiche changes since the barista, who was really nice and pleasant, wanted to double check that I was okay with it being the Mexicali style that day ~ and I was! There was jalepeno which gave it a nice amount of heat without breaking a sweat ~ and the baked cheese along the crust was so satisfying. The latte was pretty good too. It's also a great place to work ~ ample seating and strong wifi. Not sure if there's power outlets, but I saw others with laptops. I came to Bazaar cafe after my afternoon run and got a the whipped dalgona coffee. This was my first time trying it and this cafe! The cashier was really friendly and kind and told me how to optimally drink the coffee for best taste. He even asked if I needed a straw and lid! (Bonus point: eco friendly!) Popped into Bazaar Cafe late afternoon with a friend while we were making our way along the Crosstown Trail for some long overdue lunch. This cafe is very cozy and casual-- it is the definition of a "neighborhood cafe" with flyers for various events and a small selection of baked goods, sandwiches, and coffees. I opted for the Scarborough Fair, which had roasted veggies melted with cheddar and garlic aioli pressed as a panini. It was tasty but nothing special. A little on the smaller side, especially for the price (but I guess that's SF for you), but still satisfying. The side salad was a very small pile of arugula-- a cute two bites of leafy greens. The cafe was quiet with a couple of patrons reading the newspaper or studying. The employees were super chill. Overall, a nice, calm place to grab a bite to eat, but I'd go for the ambiance rather than the food. read more
