Most places charge 65-130 bucks depending on make , model , and year . With yelp check in and my vehicle being a 2000 or newer was able to get my smog done and certificate for $58.20 out the door . It took less than 15 minutes . I did show up without an appointment and no one else was scheduled so I was in and out without issue . Happy customer forsure and will use in the future . I Came here without appointment and was greeted right away. He was working with two cars ahead of me and gave me an estimated wait time which was actually pretty accurate. His price too was very competitive compared with others nearby. The entire work didnt take more than 15 minutes. And the results were forwarded right away as i was able to renew my registration a couple hours later. Basing it on the people he was interacting with that morning, i can tell that they are regular clients. I called at 1:45 pm and made his next appointment available at 2:45, just enough time to get ready and drive to his shop. I am disabled, so he just let me sit in the car while he performed the smog test. The test only took ten minutes.IT PASSED! I paid Najib, the owner, and we left with a BIG THANK YOU! I needed to find a new smog place because, my guy would take a few hours to smog my car. I really do not have that kind of time right now, to drop a car off and kill a few hours. What to do? YELP IT! I found Bayside Smog on Yelp, liked the reviews and decided to give him a try. I rolled in on Monday 1/11/2021 a little after 9 am. There was no waiting...really(?)....could this be my lucky day? Hell to NO, it is not my lucky day! The shop in down, due to waiting for a part, so the machine will work. But not to worry, The owner was chill! I liked his attitude and I understand things happen. He took my phone number and said he would call me back to set things up, once the part arrived. I left and a few hours later he called me and set up an appointment for the next day at 10am. I arrived a few minutes early, there was a car already on the machine. By the time I finished the paperwork the car before me was done. Start to finish, "I was done in under 15 minutes!" He throw me a bone, gave me the online discount and waived my cert fee because, of the day before. Bayside Smog is solid, honest and he is an all around good dude. Great local business for car smog service. This is a 1-man shop, and the 1 man (sorry, I didn't ask name) really cares for his clients and his profession. Called in made an appointment...slowly made it over to the designated shop. He was in the middle of.helping another customer. He acknowledged I was waiting and shared there were a few more chairs. Now what was noteworthy...the gentleman before me had an older vehicle and still received careful, attentive service. Next, I was up...he shared some"good news" about the car I just purchased. After completing the review I asked for another recommendation for service needed and was fortunate to receive some great advice (which I appreciated & used). If everything on your vehicle is fine then it could be a good place I had a vehicle with rear catalytic issue and changed it We went there for smog check and he stated catalytic is not match with vehicle since he read a wrong number by mistake He referred to state department and they said there is a month waiting list to check Then CA state referred back to our mechanic because they thought we have wrong part on vehicle based on his report Mechanic checked and said smog guy wrote a wrong number on report Long story short he wanted to charge us again since its a 3 times for having vehicle there After struggling with all taking time off from work and renting car he refused no charge for smog test because if his mistake. He is not responsible for his fault! Sorry brother but do your job with more responsibility! read more

I had a 1998 truck due for registration whose check engine light turned on a month or so prior to the deadline to get it smogged. I took it to a mechanic, who just said I had bad gas and that I needed to empty my tank, fill with better gas plus an injection cleaner, and drive a couple hundred miles more and that'd fix the problem. It didn't. I spent the better part of the next couple of weekends pulling apart of my exhaust system to try to fix the problem myself. Finally, after a little more driving, and a couple of days before my registration was due, my CEL went off, but my OBD reader was still showing the code in its history. I went to one smog place, and the guy turned me away saying based on the sound of the engine, it wouldn't pass. I went to another place, and the was told that I'd fail until I'd driven enough to get the stored code out of the history (even though the light was off). And then the third place I went just happened to have an issue with their equipment for servicing pre-1999 vehicles... Finally, I made it to Bayside Smog. I asked about my previous CEL situation and my current status, and was told that it wouldn't be a problem with smog. They were booked up for the next ~45 minutes, but they could fit me in at 12:30. I left, and then came back a little early, but the vehicle before me turned out to be a little more complicated than expected. At around 12:40, they wrapped up, and I was told that on account of the delay, they'd knock $10 off the cost of the smog (and even before the discount, they were already cheaper than any of the other three places I'd visited earlier that day). The test itself went very fast, and I passed no problem (and my emissions were all below the average reported! I guess all the work I'd done the previous weekends paid off). I was really happy with the whole experience here, and despite it not being the closest place to where I live, I'll definitely be coming back next time I'm due for a smog test. read more
