Seriously, that front desk interaction was absolutely atrocious. Customer service really starts with the person checking you in; you are the face of the entire experience, you know? Making a good first impression is so important, and it sets the whole tone. When that goes poorly, it's hard to recover from. It leaves you feeling frustrated right from the get-go. I just wish there was more awareness about how critical that initial contact is. A little politeness can go such a long way. It was quite an observation to witness the contrast in customer service received. While interactions with other patrons appeared consistently pleasant and professional, my own experience was notably different. The demeanor exhibited towards me was characterized by a distinct lack of warmth. Furthermore, the tone of the responses I received was quite abrupt. This disparity in service quality was quite unexpected and frankly, disappointing. It is generally anticipated that all customers would be treated with the same level of courtesy and respect. Such a noticeable difference in approach raises questions about the consistency of service delivery. I took my 2012 Audi for a smog test there because it required a Star certified station. The tech took 5 minutes to find out there was a code that didn't show up on the dash lights, it needs a oxygen sensor, they charged me $107, which I questioned as being out of line, then they want to charge me another $39.95 to recheck when the car is repaired. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I questioned that fee to the manager Rita, and she said she would wave the recheck fee if she was there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will go back after the repair for a recheck and see what they try and charge me, I will follow up with my review after the car is smogged. read more

2 years I went to star smog. I was overly charged $20. he didn't explain. Now they give you an invoice to look at and sign. Advice - ask lots of questions and make sure you get an invoice and see it up front so they don't over charge you what you don't need. [[HIGHLIGHT]]You and your employee harassed me for 2 days to change or take down the review. It was so disrespectful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And no you are not correct about the 2024 charge. he never showed me the amount and over charged me. read more

I was selling a car and Star Smog seemed to be the best price if you printed out a coupon. The challenge is finding straight forward pricing. I didn't notice my registration noted Star Smog required. A lot of smog stations add an additional fee to the price. A Star Smog station doesn't do any additional tests, it is just a designation that they have been qualified to add. The pricing for the smog test and certificate was pretty good with a coupon but there was an add on of $20 for Star certification. KS Smog in San Leandro has a flat testing fee and the standard certificate charge with no add ons. I didn't have more time to go to KS Smog so Star Smog with the add on was the most convenient locally. I forgot to take pictures but you can find them on Yelp to click on their website with pricing and tests performed. Also, if you do an internet search for Star Smog coupons you will find different coupons that you can print out which they honor. They were pretty quick and popular. I got lucky and walked right in but there were 4 customers that came in after me. The elapsed time there to check-in, test and wait to pay was 30 minutes. It would have been faster but the guy at the desk had to check-in the other customers. Helpful and friendly too. Read the web site carefully so you are aware of the different charges you might incur in addition to the standard test price and certificate price. read more
