Just went down there today. Dude in the garage told me that they don't do smog checks, and they're no longer Green Star Smog. If that's the case, someone needs to do some online updates. read more

The smog technician went out of his way to fit me in after his shift ended. I would highly recommend the smog shop and the prices are reasonable. read more

Prices of smog checks in general have definitely gone up since around 2012. A smog check back in those days only cost around forty dollars whereas now after coupons at most places cost around sixty. The price has surged even more so than restaurant food prices over the years, and I'm not sure what justifies this as labor has increased across the board in all industries. Nevertheless, came to Green Star as I had come here before a few years back and they had been fast and efficient. This is still the case. After the coupon, the test came out to be around sixty dollars. The technician was fast and was done in approximately 20 minutes. Prices here appear reasonable after the coupon. California law requires smog check centers to post their prices in a conspicuous manner for the public to view, but it's difficult reviewing prices and comparing between centers when most centers have no pictures of their prices on yelp. read more

They are quick and efficient. I was honored a coupon and it cost 49 dollars. I do not know if the price is good or not, but it was better than some other places I called in the area who were able to do the smog last minute. I was happy with my service and would recommend them. read more

Rudy was great on the phone (answered all my questions) and when I got there, took care of everything in less than 15 minutes. Give this man a raise. I went to another facility and they couldn't help me (older car) and that was disappointing. Thank you for great service and see you in two years. read more

Got the yelp deal, $41 for a $78 smog check. I did still have to pay the $8.75 for the state certificate. But you get a full smog check and certificate for right under $50, which is a steal. This place used to be the AAAAA smog check, same guy works there though. I been here at least four other times, same guy every time. Can't really say too much more about this place. Instead of leaving a car and a place for four hours but I figure out your small check for you, you're usually out of there in about 10 minutes. don't expect a lot of service here, you're not gonna get any but they are really really fast. read more

My boyfriend recommended this place to me because he heard great things so I tried it out on Saturday. I was out in 5 minutes and I passed! The owner was really nice. No wonder he gets good ratings and a lot of clientele. read more

On November 15th I got my same day smog appointment with the guys. Which I would say are more than friendly and helpful compared to my other auto mechanic and smog test technician interactions. So I am just posting this review, since I needed a reprint of my smog check result, so I can sell my car without smogging it a second time within the 60 day period one can reuse a smog test result. And they were right on the spot saying I could come any time tomorrow with my VIN and plate number to get a re-print of the smog result. 5* for responsiveness from me and being punctual. Would definitely keep going there for all of my smog tests in the future 4 sure. read more

Been here twice in past 3 years and the experience has been great. Quick and easy, no appts. needed and I was in/out both times in under 30 mins. read more

There is seriously a draught of solid, honest, affordable businesses in this area. Particularly with smog checks, it's a godsend to find one that isn't trying to screw you over. After finding Green Star today, I won't be going anywhere else. Drove up, walked in, walked back out in under half an hour. They sent my Inspection Report to the DMV, and I was on my way. The inside is clean, and has tons of interesting magazines. Guy at the counter was incredibly nice and gave A+ service. If only my check-ups at Kaiser could go this smoothly. Next time I have to, I'll be back! read more

This is the best (and only) place that you should go to get your smog check! The service is amazing and the price is literally almost a third from one of the quotes I received from another place. You can just walk-in, no appointment necessary, and it's very fast-mine took about 20 minutes total. They are very friendly and best of all, want to save you money. I went there the first time and they said that there were some issues with my car and they didn't want me to fail the smog check, so I should check them out and return to them and they will hold my coupon. Well, guess what, I checked the (minor) issues and returned the next week and passed the smog check. I only paid about $8.95 for the smog certificate so with the Yelp coupon it came to be under $40-unbelievable! Won't go to another place for a smog check again and you shouldn't either! Please note that the they have changed their name to Green Star Smog Check but other than that the address remains the same. If it's time for your smog check go to to them asap! read more

Executive summary: Quick, painless smog check...before the groceries spoil. Detail: So one of my vehicles got the registration renewal requiring smog check at any station. And my other car got one requiring a STAR check - make sure you read your DMV notice carefully, because this was a new distinction I wasn't aware of. I found Green Star on Yelp, and purchased the Yelp discount deal too ($41 for a $78 smog check). That seems pretty inexpensive to me, although admittedly I haven't priced them out for a long time. Drove it over to them later that day. They were fast, friendly, no-nonsense. I had actually bought a load of food and groceries from Costco and it was all in the back of my SUV when I pulled in. Green Star must have taken all of 15 minutes to get me back on the road, smog certified, and back home to put my groceries in the fridge. I used to have to wait a couple hours to get the car smogged - knowing these guys can do it in 15 minutes is a beautiful thing. The fact that they're also a STAR station just seals the deal for me. I'll be back with the 2nd car, and subsequent smog checks too. read more

Fast and friendly! I was in a hurry and the guy (didn't catch his name) was as helpful as he could be. It was appreciated.

Went there for smog he told me $60 for my 2005 Corolla, then I mention coupon and he said it was coupon price. Then I gave him $100 for smog and gave me back $30 which would of made the smog $70, he told me in the beginning $60 for everything but still charged me $70. This is the kind of business I will not return to. read more

Nothing bad to say here. I was in and out in 10 minutes like the technician told me. My car passed of course

Super fast service. Very friendly staff. With no appointment I walked in and out in less than 10 mins. Price is great. What more can you ask for? read more

Fast Service, friendly staff, and reasonable price for a smog check! Called first on a saturday to make sure I can just stop by without any appointments. Fred was friendly and fast, in and out in 15min. Will be bringing all my cars here for smog check from now on! read more

I've been patronizing this business for at least 20 years, even before the current name/owners, when it was called "AAAAA Smog Check." I always came here, preferring this place, because there was an exceptional employee who worked here all that time who did the smog checks. His customer service skills were excellent and he was consistently helpful and friendly, so much so that I always wanted to come back. I stopped by earlier this week and was surprised/saddened to see he's no longer employed. Unfortunately, it shows. Prices have always been reasonable here--my last visit with the same vehicle cost $80. The gentleman who helped me this time was polite, not rude in the least; however, he quoted me $150 to do a smog check on a 1997 vehicle. I was stunned at such a ridiculously expensive price, told him I'd been coming here since it was "AAAAA," then asked if there were any coupons or deals. He answered, "No," despite the fact that there is a $25 coupon online and a separate offer on the Yelp site that says if you do a Yelp check-in, they will give you $20 off. When pressed about the coupon, he told me it was only good for vehicles newer than 2014, although that condition does not appear on the coupon. Due to the excessive cost, I declined his quote, thanked him for his time, and told him that I would check prices elsewhere. I feel that a business should be more supportive of long-term customers who have been coming there for two decades. Instead of rewarding me for my loyalty, they did the opposite. I ended up getting the smog check done across town for a total cost of $88.20. I hesitated to leave this negative review, because I loved this place, but I feel that I should let people know that it's best to shop around before coming here. You may save money--I saved $61.80 by doing so. In the past, I would've consistently given them 5 stars, but they only get one now after my disappointing visit. I won't be back and they've lost a 20-year+ customer. read more

Was the place my family took its half-dozen cars on a semi-regular. Despite the spartan decor, and ample coupons, we collectively agreed that AAAAA was a good, semi-quick, and reliable place to smog our mini-fleet of automobiles... THAT WAS - until one early Friday afternoon, I brought one of "the herd" into AAAAA for a smog - just as one of the employees was throwing the deadbolt with his buddy and quipped "We're closed - family emergency..." with a nonchalant "yeah-right-I-am-taking-an-early-weekend" attitude. Nothing beats being fed B.S. by the smog guy, I say! Anyways - left with a metaphoric bad taste - I was promptly forced to find an alternative, VIP in Pleasant Hill, and have not looked back (except to write this review). read more

This year DMV required I use a STAR Cerified station (1999 Lexus) for first time so I could not use place that was my go to for years. Checked government website and called those on list local to me. Decided on Green Smog whose price was a few dollars higher than others quoted but I felt more comfortable going to a TEST Only. Fellow in front office was also technician. He was really frierndly and although I was second in line I was out in under 30 minutes. Very pleased with the service I received. My BAD that I failed to see the Yelp coupon that would have saved me $20. read more

I called this place, based on the Yelp reviews, and I must say that I was NOT disappointed. First off, I told them I found them on Yelp, and was given the $31 yelp deal. I did have to pay an extra $10 because I drive an older vehicle. I went in on a Friday, and didn't have to wait long. Unfortunately, my car did not pass the smog check on Friday, but was told that I would get a free re-test, only having to pay for the certificate. Not a bad deal at all. I had a friend do some minor repairs to my car over the weekend. Went in this morning (Monday/Holiday), was in and out in 30 minutes with a smog certificate. :) Thank you gentlemen for your professionalism. You truly made my day. If I could give you 100/100, I would. I will recommend you to everyone I know. read more

They're the best smog shop around. Ive been going to them for a few years and I have always gotten great service. The guy at the counter ( I think his name is Roldolfo ) is always super nice and I haven't ever had to make an appointment or wait more than 20 min to get it done. And their system updated to the DMV immediately unlike the shop I used to go to. I went and got my tags 10 min after my smog. And they are a "star" station which I guess is the new DMV regulations thing. And they're the best priced. ***** read more

These guys are a gem in the rough. I had taken my cars here multiple times for a smog and they had me in and out quickly. They had given me 1/2 hour quote to wait, but had my cars signed and ready for easy DMV clearing for the paperwork. They also gave me a small discount for being a repeat customer. No appointments needed and I was able get in without any hassles. I did however go in the morning and in the middle of the week. Definitely a place to go to when you need a quick smog check. read more

Walked in without an appointment and was out of there in 15. There was only one guy ahead of me and it was mid-morning on a Monday. Service was quick - attendant was friendly and efficient. They had a Yelp deal too so I paid less than $50 out the door! THANKS GREEN STAR! read more

Really awesome experience. The hours posted online didn't match the hours posted on the door, even though I showed up a little after the closing hours posted on the door, they still ran the smog check and I was in&out in 15 minutes. They REALLY care about customer satisfaction and I will definitely take any of my vehicles here for the next smog check. read more

I walked in with no appointment and they were able to get my car in five minutes later. They had me out of there in less than 15 minutes and yes my car passed. They have a nice little fountain and awesome magazine collection to peruse while you're waiting. Staff was very friendly and helpful. With the Yelp coupon my car was $49.99 out the door. Remember there is an $8 dollar charge for the smog certificate. All in all I will definitely be back. read more

Green Star Smog Check Test Only - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Concord, California

After being turned away at D&H because they were on lunch, I hopped on Yelp and found the deal for Green Star. Even though D&H is closer to the DMV, Green Star is three minutes down the street and will treat you much better. I was "one of those people" who went to the DMV thinking that I didn't need a smog check and it turns out I did. If you are one of those people, this review is for you. I ended up at Green Star right around noon on a Thursday. The guy working was extremely polite and although he appeared to be the only one there, he helped the customer before me and myself within 30 minutes. He kept me informed of how long the wait would be. He was efficient and friendly, and valued my time. I would definitely use these guys again, but I'm hoping to not need a smog check again for a while! read more

I've only had my car smogged one other time, so I don't have a lot to compare this experience to, but as far as I'm concerned this was great. I got there at 9 am on a Saturday morning and was the only one there so I only waited about 15 minutes. They did only have one person working though, so the two people who got there after me had to wait a little bit. I got the awesome $41 Yelp deal which was great, he ran my car, gave me the certificate, and I was on my way. I would definitely go back here! read more

I wish I can give them 100/100 stars. These guys are amazingly fast, efficient and professional. I'm not interested in going anywhere else now. I came here because of all the good reviews on Yelp and my experience definitely lived up to them. My friend and I went together and we arrived around 4:15pm. We were the only ones there and a nice man came out to greet us. We signed some paperwork and he promised to be done soon. 20 -25 minutes later he was done with BOTH of our cars. And then he actually apologized for running behind because he was the only one there. LOL. We told him that we didn't think he was taking too long at all. We bought the Yelp deal which saved us about $40 - awesome deal! The waiting area is nice and large with, to our surprise, a wide variety of magazines to choose from. It was not just car magazines like I see at Jiffy Lube. I would recommend this place to family and friends - hopefully it wasn't a one time great experience! :) read more

I decided to have my truck smogged by Green Star Smog because of the combination of good reviews and their awesome Yelp deal. I was not disappointed! Not only did the Yelp deal make it the cheapest smog check I've ever received, it was also the fastest. I arrived at about 4:50 pm on a weekday hoping that I wasn't too late to get my truck tested that evening (many shops close at 5pm but this shop is open until 6pm). There was one vehicle being serviced before mine and I spent no more than 25 minutes at the shop. The gentleman at the counter was helpful and friendly. He let me know about how long I would have to wait and offered me a beverage. He also mentioned that they would honor the special deal anytime so you can mention it for a discount. The waiting area is simple and clean with benches, magazines and a fountain. I will definitely use Green Star Smog again! read more

I went in today without an appointment. There was no wait. Eugene, behind the desk was very helpful. I told him about the coupon there website, and then mentioned the yelp deal here. He went and talked to the manager and it was all set. I wandered off to go see a friend that works in the area. Came back, it did take a little longer than the stated ten minutes and there waiting room is a bare concrete room that consists of four benches and a koi pond/ fountain so it was a long wait, but I didn't care when the next thing happened. Smog checks are very mundane things. And every other time I have had it done the situation is as follows: the guy comes in from the garage, tells me the car passed, gives me a paper with a bunch of numbers that I can't understand, and then takes my money. Eugene, on the other hand, came in with the paper. Made it clear that I passed, but told me I might have a problem. He then went through all of the numbers with me and told me that it I was burning more of one thing than it should. Not enough to fail but more than average, and unless I took care of it, I probably would not pass again. It was that little extra that I found to go above and beyond. And that takes the place from the 3-4 star range to the 5 star range. One thing of note: it is only a test station (which is why he couldn't tell me exactly what was wrong) but it also means it is a little pricey. Look at their website, and check back here on yelp for some deals, and be sure to mention them. The guys are laid back and will work with you, if your nice. All around a great experience. read more

The station is five star worthy but I'll giving it four this trip. Fast and friendly service. At a car wash a vehicle being larger with more area to cover will cost you more in time but I'm still unclear how I ended up paying $18.25 on top of this pre pay price deal because I drive a truck? I'll need to read the fine print next buy. -g read more

Friendly encounter at first. Was told 10 minutes tops. Which was great cause I was already cutting it close with having to pick my son up from school. In and out very quickly. Price was affordable. Very knowledgeable tech on duty. Definitely will be back next time.

It was fast enough. open at 5pm on a Saturday, and my car passed smog (a real miracle, I tell ya!), so it does the trick. You can definitely find cheaper deals in the area, though, if you look on PennySaver, Valuepak, and other BS that gets sent to your mailbox. I had a extremely hectic month and was already a week late on mailing my registration, so I just needed to get it done, even if I was paying $25 or more than I should, even with them taking off $25 (or maybe $15) off for checking in on yelp. read more

Always a friendly honest smog check station. Had about 10 experiences all perfect. I'll be back!
