I don't know anything about cars, could have easily been duped, and was treated so well! I needed a vehicle inspection for the DMV. I didn't really understand the process but knew what language to parrot? Said was amazing- he gave me a quick rundown on the phone of what I was talking about, scheduled me for like a day later, had me in and out with no fuss. The inspection showed that I needed to get my brakes replaced. Nervous laughter- he showed me how I'd actually been driving on my rotors for some time, apparently, so he was being completely honest. I needed to bring it back in afterward for a final inspection, which he took care of in about 30 minutes. Again, Said was super knowledgeable about the process, that the paperwork would go right. to the DMV It did- I got my registration!), the order for the other steps I needed to take, etc. All of that would have had me as a super happy customer. Some extra nice things were that he made sure both times that I knew how long I'd be there (the first inspection was like 3 hours) so I had a ride home. The second inspection he did a little extra quickly because he knew I was just going to wait there. It just seemed like really caring customer service. Weirdly (positive) the first time i walked up there was a guy out front who turned out to be a happy customer (I'm assuming a regular). He would not stop telling me every time I walked by what a great guy Said is, how he's the best, I was in good hands, etc. It was strange but eventually endearing and for sure true. I guess I'd be him, too, because I've told everyone about Bay Area Smog. I'd recommend Said to anyone. He was professional, knowledgeable, and honestly just so nice. read more

I have come to this shop for every smog test since we moved to Concord nearly 15 years ago. Family owned. Small business. I've seen a couple of crappy reviews on here and they seem to be by people who were trying to buck the system - or were being jerks. We need honest hard-working businesses like this one who are not afraid to keep to the letter of the law. I called. Got an appointment the same day. I was in and out of there in 35 minutes. Terrible customer service! Total waste of time! I am guessing this was the owner I made an appointment with/had contact with, but he didn't even remember I had an appointment and didn't seem to be happy I was there. After I pulled my car in front of his shop after he barked at me to do so and he started walking around my vehicle scoffing and saying that it wasn't going to pass the break/lamp inspection. I tried asking him what the problem was and he ignored me, answered the phone and talked on it for sometime. He got off the phone and basically told me to take it somewhere else and ignored my questions. I guess he just didn't want to do the job. I have been coming to this family-owned business since I was in college. The owner is always pleasant and helpful and I have serviced many of my vehicles here. The last one was my 2016 Hyundai Sonata which he did a fantastic job on. It's a shame that some person left a fake review about such a great household local business. read more

I took my vehicle to a different shop initially, but they said it wouldn't pass. I did what they told me to do, and drove on the freeway the next day and went back. Still the same story. So I decided to drive around the area and look for another station. Said took me within 20 min. My car passed. Price was pretty much the same as other stations I checked. He even noticed an inside roof light was in the "on" position and made sure I switched it off before I left so it wouldn't drain my battery! I have 1991 Geo Storm that has been sitting in the driveway and I want to sell it. The driver side door latch is broken and it has to be rigged to stay shut. Also, it's registered non-operational because I never drive it. I was told I need a smog check to sell it to a private party. I did my yelp research and picked another smog check place but they turned me away because of the broken driver side door. Said at Bay Area Smog was so great. He never even mentioned the door problem. He just crawled in the passenger side door and took care of my car. I was in and out in under 20 minutes and I ended up spending less than I would have at the other spot. If I ever need another smog check, I will come back here. read more

This place is crooked. I told the technician that the battery was recently unplugged and asked that if he can see if the car is in ready to test mode. His respond was, " it should be good to go". He ran my car on the smog machine and play around with the machine. He then told me that the systemnis not ready and charged me for the smog price. I do not recommend this business at all. read more

DONT GO HERE! Price is WAY higher than any every other smog place. If your vehicle doesn't pass....be prepared to pay for a reinspection. This place doesn't offer a free reinspection. Crazy, don't know how they are still in business. read more

Barb had to get a smog check. She went to Lucky Smog just up the street but left feeling she was being taken advantage of. I was with her so I looked for Smog Stations on Yelp and found Bay Area Smog. They had the smog check done right away and at a very reasonable price. Said was great and got her car taken care of quickly. Barb left happy. read more

Do NOT go. There are several other smog stations within the block to choose from. My car was an automatic fail because I didn't have a carb number on the intake, which I did not know about. All I saw was the guy open the hood first, check for something, and then proceed to finish the test. Once complete, car was fine, but he said it was an automatic fail due to lack of carb number. Would have saved me money if he would have just said, "You have no carb number so it would be an automatic fail." instead of proceeding to run the test fully knowing what the problem is and then charging me for the failed test. Also that free retest offer is only valid on regular price of $90. I went in with a discount which does not qualify for a retest. Now I need to go home, find the stupid sticker/number, come back, redo the test and pay more $$$. DONT GO! Go to some other place that is honest and won't take advantage of you. Toyotapro is only $40.99 out the door! Way cheaper and more honest. read more

I had the best experience here. I needed a test only SMOG station. I made one call and the receptionist was so friendly and helpful and immediately scheduled me an appointment. When I arrived there was a walk in but they took me first as I had the appointment. My SMOG was done in no time. This is a family business and I can truly say that I had top-rate service from beginning to end. I definitely recommend Bay Area Smog to all. read more

Go to Bay Area Smog! I had nothing but best experiences here. Owner is very friendly and knowledgeable, and the place is very professioal. It's a little tucked away inside this "strip mall" of automotive services, so you have to drive all the way inside and to the back end corner. My Smog check was a pretty simple affair. It took fifteen or twenty minutes. The shop is pretty basic. Don't expect comfy chairs and coffee. The service was good, though. I would go there again. read more
