Excellent, fast, and friendly service! Called on a Tuesday around 12:40pm to book a same day appointment for a Smog check and was able to get one. I needed to get a Smog certification to get my car registration renewed, and Walnut Creek Smog made the process easy! Check in was quick, and the Smog check was completed in 15 minutes as promised. This is a hidden gem! I tried to get a smog done at another local shop and when they couldn't take my car for the second time I jumped on Yelp to find someone who could get my car. My first call was to Walnut Creek Smog and they told me they needed to calibrate the machine and to come in an hour. I showed up and was greeted and they quickly got to work. They smogged my car quickly and were priced fairly. The employee who helped me was super friendly. They just won us over as new customers! read more

Quality, cost effective auto service. My go-to spot in Contra Costa. Smog checks are affordable and fast.

I had a great experience at Walnut Creek Smog. Making an appointment was simple and there was no wait time after I arrived at noon. Andy and I had a fun conversation and the time flew by. The shop is clean and organized and everyone was very friendly. On the pocket on the driver's side door, I had a car escape tool holder attached and I had tried, unsuccessfully, to remove it. The man who did the smog saw that it was a problem and asked if I wanted it to be removed. He removed it which I really appreciate. He didn't have to do this but this was an example of someone going above and beyond. I highly recommend this shop. read more

These guys were great. I have a Porsche Boxster and this was the year that I needed a smog check. I called the guys I usually go to and they don't do Porsche boxsters. Because of the mid engine. I found out most places don't do my car So I called my trusted auto mechanic, and he referred us to Walnut Creek smog. They are experienced with a mid engine they handled it. There was an extra price, of course because there's a lot more work apparently, but it was not unreasonable. It was fairly priced. They did a good job and they did it quickly. And I passed the smog test I highly recommend these guys read more

Contacted Walnut Creek Smog when another nearby Smog provider could not get my car to communicate with the State smog system. Discussed several possible issues that might cause this issue with Walnut Creek smog. Made an appointment, went in and car had no problem at all with communication with State system. Thankful that I did not spend the time and money taking it to the dealership to diagnose the "problem" as was suggested by the other smog shop. Walnut Creek smog will be my go to from now on! read more

This was our third time using Walnut Creek Smog. Great service. It's easy to make an appointment and they get your car in on time.

Great service and good job on Smog test. Locally owned which is nice. I use them every time.

The shop itself is difficult to find. It's not right off the street. You have to pull into a dealer lot and go down a narrow downhill driveway with not a lot of clearance between vehicles once you enter the lot. I've used Andy twice and I had a pretty good experience the first time but not on the second. Andy is very friendly and has good people skills which made me feel comfortable initially after arriving. After hooking up my vehicle to the machine and leaving it idling, he literally hoped in a car parked in front of the shop and drove off. I did think it was a little unprofessional of him to leave my vehicle running on the machine (unattended) while he either went to go test drive a car or ran an errand. 10 minutes later one of his friends or his employees showed up. I couldn't tell because they don't wear uniforms, but that person didn't go anywhere near my vehicle. Andy showed up 20 minutes after he left, and completed the smog check and printed out my certificate. I never got a quote from him before bringing in the vehicle because my wife set up the apointment, but I was surprised to find out that my grand total was pretty much $80 out the door. I thought it was a little high for a smog check (passenger vehicle), especially considering that Andy wasn't even present for it. I needed a smog check this week and I asked Andy for a quote and his price is $69.95 plus an $8 certificate fee which makes him the most expensive option in the area by at least $10. I ended up booking elsewhere. I saved $20 and the appointment only took 10 minutes because the technician didn't leave during the test. I did offer to give Andy some feedback about having the highest prices in town, but he made an excuse about how he pays his employees top dollar even though I've never dealt with anybody except for Andy. And I totally understand if you pay your employees top dollar but you have to offer value to your customers and leaving their cars unattended while you go do something else is not it. read more

I basically saw the awesome yelp review and called to confirm price and hours of operation for his Smog Check shop. Jace the actual technician was very friendly, hilariousaccommodating, and got me in right away. I'm really glad his company stays open for the people that get off work at 5pm as most Smog places are only open when you're also at work. read more

I walked in and even though there were reservations they squeezed me in, much appreciated. Very friendly and a clean shop.

Andy at Walnut Creek Smog is the best! I had a permanent code that wouldn't go away after replacing my hybrid battery, and unlike other shops, Andy took the time to explain exactly what needed to be done -- the number of drive cycles and the type of driving required. He even checked my car on three separate occasions, and each time I showed up unannounced he never brushed me off or told me to come back later. Andy is honest, patient, and truly helpful. If you're looking for a trustworthy smog shop, this is the place. Five stars all the way! read more

It is absolutely no surprise that I had an experience similar to many others on this page. What I found to be exceptional about this experience was working with Andy and his team. I brought my Honda in for smog repairs. The shop was clear on the costs, the cost was very reasonable, they got back to me soon after taking my car in, they gave me options of what to do next. They were clear, honest, and easy to work with. I'm planning on selling my car and my other car is electric so I won't have to take it in and I'm surprised to be a little bummed about not having a reason to come back here. It speaks volumes to the level of skill and professionalism this shop delivers. Andy's just a great human as well. If you talk to him you'll feel it immediately. I really wish the best for them. This was a great find and experience through and through. read more
