Very timely service with a side of ethnic stereotyping. I called a week prior during business hours. The man who answered told me to come on Monday and "I'll give you a great deal. I'll do it for $50" When I showed up he added $10 extra for certificate. I told him you gave me $50 quote including "sending the certificate to DMV". I told him I won't get the physical certificate. His next question "are you from India? You need to have a certificate. How will they know you got it done? You're Indian. I know you guys like to bargain." I was baffled. I told him "it's fine just do it." He goes on to say "if you're not happy with my service you can go somewhere else" he then added "other guys...." I realized that the fine print on the coupon adds $20 for Star Certified. When I told the owner that I'd think about it and possibly come back he said "Don't come back!" So I went to another place about half a block away and got it done for $68 without any coupons and got a courteous and prompt service. Positives First, I went to H Smog for SMOG testing my 2008 Honda Odyssey, David was very friendly and I my car was under Testing in no time, then came the pricing. Based on H Smog Website, I was expecting to pay $41.99 for SMOG, $8.25 Certification Fee, $10 for my VAN. Instead after the test was completed, I heard of this STAR is another $20 - Which is bogus and never had a STAR SMOG Certified center charge me a separate fee. When I mentioned I saw a coupon on his website, David immediately said I had to mention it when I arrived (there was no one there.. and since he was very friendly, missed on my part) later he said he would have told me I have wait for 2 weeks to get SMOG at the coupon price and he was very busy, to my surprise I was the only there...
