My wife and I stayed here for one night in December of 2016. We stayed in a room upstairs and had a great time. This was the first time we had been to a B&B so we had nothing to compare it to. The only negative was the construction noise going on in the morning. This may have been because of the flooding that occurred in St. Augustine earlier that year, but it did wake us up. The food was great. We went to the happy hour in the evening as well as the breakfast. The happy hour had four different food selections, wine, sangria, and a large selection of beer. Breakfast was also very good. We had quiche and I also ordered a pastry along with it. I was expecting a standard hotel pastry, but this was way beyond expectations. The staff was very kind and helpful. We did not have any major complaints and we look forward to going back in the future. We would suggest this location to any one planning on going to St. Augustine. read more

This has got to be the best place I have ever stayed and will be hard to top! The staff was not only soooo sweet but the rooms were breathtaking. We reserved 7 rooms and I got the pick of an amazing room that made me feel like a queen! The breakfast was awesome you get to pick from a huge list of food and the French toast was to die for! To top it off when I went to leave (my car being a few blocks away in overflow parking) the amazing women was leaving her shift even drove me to my car so I didn't have to walk :) best stay ever. I am surprised to see the low reviews on here. My husband and I have stayed here three times and always had a wonderful experience. The Marin is in a beautiful location and very quiet and relaxing. However, old town is just a short walk away with great restaurants and shops. The breakfast has always been amazing. Someone else said the food seems store bought, but I have to disagree. Everything I've eaten here was fresh and homemade. I definitely plan to return again. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Forrester Suite for a weekend get away. The room was beautiful, comfortable and clean, as shown on the website. The staff is amazing so friendly and accommodating-made us feel beyond comfortable. I can not emphasise more about how the staff really went above and beyond to make sure our stay was hassle free so we could focus on relaxing and indulging. The social hour had a amazing food spread buffet style with lots of options for beer, and wine. The breakfast was out of this world! SO MANY options and everything was delicious (I basically sampled the whole menu) from having the out door sit down dining table service, to the quality and selection it felt far from the normal free continental breakfast experience. Also during breakfast the owner made a point to introduce himself and start a very sincere getting to know one another conversation, going into detail about the interesting journey of acquiring the property with his wife, his love for his occupation really showed through. The staff is wonderful, the "Lindsay Michelle" room not so much...and for an average rate of $250 a night expected a lot more. I went with my Mom so only two bed room they had and it was old, dusty, not clean, barely any light to see by, the dark purple walls just hide the dirt. Only get a small table top iron, sink in bath had no drain cover and almost lost a ring, no where to put your thinks in bath with only a small pedestal sink. Accent pillows on bed so old and dirty would rather have nothing at all. Could go on but you get the point. Definitely stay in another room if you go here, we were so upset wanted to move to the Casa Monica but they would not refund our money ended up leaving a day early. read more

We drove 5 hours to meet with Mike the owner of the Bayfront Marin House 5 months out from our rehearsal dinner date. Bayfront's gorgeous. Mike agreed to dates and we booked the entire Inn for 2 nights with our rehearsal dinner being on the lawn. so we thought. I sent out invitations and our website recommending people stay at the Inn. When my guests called to book rooms, guess what, No record of our party. In fact, they had already booked out the bridal suite we wanted with outside guests! I called and spoke with Brian, event manager, he was very apologetic and assured me "this is not how we do business" and got the remaining rooms blocked and offered us a second Inn (Bella Bay) for our guests as well. My bridesmaids tried to book rooms at Bella Bay, guess what, It's already booked out with another wedding! I called Brian again, "this is not how we do business" Mike must have booked it and didn't tell anyone. AGAIN! So now I'm mad, but Brian tells me that I have to bite my tongue and go to Mike with kindness if I want to have my event at his property (it's already on all the invitations and people have already booked rooms at the Inn). BTW, this is my rehearsal dinner for about 50 people! NOT wedding! Over the course of the next couple months our guests have problems booking rooms because the night time desk person has no clue what is going on so I keep getting texts and calls from our guests with confusion and frustration. I call and email and ask about room bookings at least weekly to see how many rooms are left. Brian lets me know what's available and I have them booked. One month out I find out the Bridal Suite is now open because the guests shortened their stay. It's too late to book a $400 room now since we already rented a house. The SUNDAY before the party (THURS) he tells me I have 2 open rooms on Thurs and that we are responsible for them (approx $550) and we are responsible for that bridal suite as well that was never available to us (almost $400/night room). I felt robbed! Felt taken advantage of. This whole time I have to bite my tongue because they hold all the power with our party! We agree to split the difference and take the bridal suite for the 2 nights and they agree to drop charges for the 2 open rooms on Thurs. I had been asking for weeks for an itemized bill... never got one. I had to go through room rates, and emails to come up with a total for the party and room rentals. I was then told that my guests would need to pay the remainder of their room balances prior to them checking in because the "owner was uncomfortable with that amount of money sitting out there." I had to call all the guests individually and let them know that their cards were going to be charged the remainder amount before they even check-in!!! WHO DOES THAT! The party came... it was beautiful. Brian was amazing... I hope he finds a job somewhere else!!! Weekend is over... check my AMEX statement... you guessed it.. Not the dollar amount we discussed. Weeks go by of me texting and asking for a final bill.... I STILL DON'T HAVE ONE!!! So we disputed the charge with AMEX. They refunded a couple hundred dollars to us saying they charged us for an extra room, but still won't produce a final bill. 2 stars because it's beautiful! I would think twice before I held a large event there... they aren't organized at all or prepared! Good luck to Brian! read more

We stayed there for 3 days including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and then went over to the Villano Beach location owned by the Bayfront Marin. I would do the same thing again in a heartbeat. The St. Augustine location is within walking distance of the entire downtown area yet your views are of the waterfront. We stayed in room 2, second floor with a private corner front porch. Sitting out there was beautiful. The sunrises can be viewed from the porch. The food was great at this place. Breakfast was wonderful, so delicious and can be delivered to your room if you'd rather not eat in the quaint dining room. The happy hour was lovely with beer, wine and great food snacks. A nice way to meet people. You have a selection of places to sit outside. The building was beautifully decorated too; several people would stop to admire and take pictures. The beach villas were perfect. We had an ocean front on Villano Beach. Some of the units , just a few yards from the beach, have small private pools which is something we will return for. The beach villas are only a short drive over a bridge from the downtown area. You feel like you are in a different world. There are some restaurants nearby as well as a Publix. A bottle of wine and platter of shrimp and cheese is all you need. The view is spectacular and you also have your own outside private sitting areas as well. The staff at both locations was so accommodating , attentive and friendly. The owners make themselves readily available and are invested in your satisfaction. We will be back to both of their locations. read more

While this is not horrendous as a bed-and-breakfast it is just mediocre as far as the cleanliness and room. We stayed in the Napoleon room which was supposed to have a telephone ,fireplace , & hardwood floors. The double doors to the room were so flimsy anyone could just push in and I did not feel safe. It seems as though they got flooded from the last hurricane in October and everything was redone. The bathroom tile in the shower was so poorly constructed that the water from the shower came out onto the bathroom floor making it very very unsafe. The whole bathroom tile floor seem to be crooked and it felt like the floor was going to cave in. I asked about the telephone as there was none and I was just told that because of the hurricane they lost service (in October ) but not have it fixed as a bed-and-breakfast DUH!!! The mold in the sink and the shower stall was not too good. It was a very noisy room as the next house was about 5 feet away and the workmen were talking all day into the night. The staff was courteous and friendly as a plus and the breakfast was pretty decent. The description of the room on booking.com was not too truthful. There was no telephone as I was told because of the last hurricane. There was no fireplace. There was no hardwood floors. I think if we ever go back to Saint Augustine we will stay at the Hilton Hotel! read more

we stayed one night at the Marin House. We had to park about 3 blocks away from the hotel in an offsite parking area. We got the "fishbowl" room otherwise known as the Napoleon Room. I would not recommend this room. it is on the corner where everyone walks by and 2 walls are all windows that passersby can look into. not at all private. We asked to move but the hotel was suddenly full (even though when I reserved my room on thursday- for saturday night- the hotel was half empty. in February when the town was dead) We added a couples massage to our agenda through the hotel. Hands down it was the worst massage I have ever had (since when is pinching allowed in a massage!!! unbelievable). We did not stay long enough to try the breakfast, but I must say that the room was spotlessly clean which was much appreciated. read more

Beautiful inn. The room that we stayed in was so nice because we could see the bay. The staff and owners were very sweet. Whatever problems we had; were handled with a very immediate and a positive response. The owners Sandy and Mike were great because they came out and spent time speaking with every guest. Bayfront Marin's "Happy Hour" was great; the homemade Sangria was out of this world good. They also had a good variety of beers. The appetizers were great as well. Their homemade truffles were so rich and creamer it just melted in your mouth. Oh so delicious! I planned to stay at this location all weekend since our wedding was Saturday. We purchased a total of 7 rooms, 5 of which was reserved for the wedding night for all the wedding party. The first night stay (Friday) was awesome... Ladies were friendly and accommodating. My girls and I were in one room and, although there was another bridal party there at the same time being loud we understood and didn't have an issue. The night of my wedding on the other hand was a nightmare! My husband and I leave our reception and get dropped off at the B&B so we can change and wait for the bridal party to arrive in a separate limo. Will not even 5 mins in our room, I'm receiving a call on my cell from the front desk stating that they got a complaint from another room (one im sure just complained about noise on here) and that I needed to be quite. I explained that we had just arrived and to try and resolve the issue, my husband and I went to the front desk (still in my wedding dress because I hadn't had time to even change) and we offered to pay for that person's room... Well this only led to a worse conflict!! My husband had mentioned the legality of noise ordinance and decibels, and explained this to the lady. This only made the lady start screaming at my husband and threatening to call the cops, and wanting us to leave. This led to one very upset bride!! So, not only was she running off someone that spent $2500.00 at the facility, she ran us off from wanting to stay the night after that we purchased and won't stay here again. This employee was rude and disrespectful! Coming from someone that has a degree in supervision and management, she is the perfect example of what an industry that revolves around customer service would NOT want as an employee!!! She didn't even consider the fact that there was another bridal party staying that weekend also, but to the people that had to complained: I hope you know that you ruined my entire wedding night so thanks for being extremely inconsiderate and vague with your complaint. Make sure you complain about the right room and party next time! The next day (Sunday morning) when I went to the office to inform them that we didn't want to stay the Sunday night we had originally arranged, the manager had asked why. I explained what happened, and she offered to give a certificate (for us to come back) and "allowed" us to cancel the room that we didn't plan on staying in... So in the long run, she gave us 10% back....10% and an apology for an employee ruining one of the most important nights of my life!! SMH! UNBELIEVABLE! read more

We were married at the Bayfront in December. Marina was pleasant. Anna, was not very involved. Things were bad at the end. We chose to get married at the Bayfront because we were looking for an affordable option in St. Augustine. We got what we paid for. They were fairly hands off during the planning phase. The cake, thats part of the package. At first they described they could whatever we wanted given size. It took a while for them to get a cake list for us to review. They had some sample cakes that contained decorations, including fondant, gum paste etc. Then we were told that fondant is disgusting and we shouldn't have it on our cake, we agreed. We were told there would be an up charge for fondant or gun paste if it wasn't one of the ready made cakes on the list. Then we were told they could not make ornaments, which was fine. Then they could not do snowflakes, which was less fine, but still manageable if I paid a baker to make them and brought them with me to be applied to the cake. When they said they couldn't do ribbons on the cake, we were left with just white frosting and realized there was some false promise on capabilities. A friend made our cake and that solved the issue. Around three hours before the wedding a groomsmen arrived with our toasting flutes, new Saks Fifth Avenue. I took them out of the box, inspected them both. I showed them to my Bridesmaids and the owner of The Beauty Bardot (they are amazing btw). I re-wrapped them, placed them back into the box and handed them to one of my bridesmaids. She took them down the stairs to the gazebo where Marina was hanging the drapes. She told Marina "Be very careful with this box, it's the toasting flutes, they are very delicate". Marina walked over and said "Ok, I will put them somewhere safe". Then she picked them up under one arm with the drapes in the other and headed to the office. An hour later Anna came to my room and said "I have to tell you that when we took your flutes out of the box, they were broken" I asked what happened and she replied "We don't know, all we know is that when we got them they were already broken" I was upset. They told my husband and offered to let us "borrow" some flutes. They did not apologize. They did not offer to make the situation better or help in any way. Anna seemed agitated and snippy. We were told our guests were snapped at and asked to leave the office/dining area because they had snacks out "just for the guests of the B&B" this could have been managed better. The photographer Amy Ayers (who is great also btw) and Anna/Marina did not communicate well or at all. We were rushed and didn't get to some of the toasts. I was unable to dance with my father. I never spoke to any of my guests. Anna did call and ask the carriage to delay a bit. Things should have been planned and communicated better. Nothing was said that evening about the flutes. Marina simply said "I will be here when you check out tomorrow". So that left me to wonder, worry and fear the inevitable confrontation the next day. Which ruined my wedding night completely. We ended up just going to sleep early. The next morning we received breakfast in bed, but they did not bring 70% of what we asked for. No coffee, no water, no bread or oatmeal. They just brought Mamosas and eggs benidict. Which was very good, but I could have used coffe and water. It was a small breakfast. After we were packed we went down and met Marina. We asked about the flutes. She said she was going to get the owner. He came out and repeated they were broken already. He was so dismissive and smug it was absolutely disgusting. Terrible business sense. He insulted us directly saying we were lying. Finally after I told him all the witnesses and how my children accept responsibility even if there is an accident he said "We are in no way responsible, but we will refund part of your bill for the cost." Then haggled over the price. I am a patient person. I took the time to write this. This man does not deserve your business. Do not let them ruin your wedding with this behavior. read more

I had booked and confirmed, well in advance, a two night stay with Relaxing Evening Package. I was called the day before and informed no therapists would be available for the couples massage on Friday evening. I agreed to a Saturday morning service as the wedding we were traveling for wasn't until the afternoon. I was called the next morning, the day of check-in, and informed that no therapist would be available until that evening, during the wedding. I was now stuck without the package I had gifted to my fiance. I was offered only the options of canceling my package or my reservation as a whole on the day of check-in. When I expressed my discontent, the manager, who refused to give me her name, told me that I was "making a mountain out of a mole hill," mocking me by saying "it's only a massage, you'll survive." She was rude, disrespectful and dismissive. When I asked why I wasn't informed sooner, she said "we are struggling to keep the business running right now due to the hurricane (Irma) and I didn't review your reservation until today." She then stated the the hotel is still under repair. She told me that "if you don't like it, I'll cancel your reservation and you can stay somewhere else." I asked how she could be so callous as to the predicament she has placed me in and she said "we don't need people like you here, I'm canceling your reservation. I asked that she at least refund the over $600 that was charged in advance and she said no, then hung up. I called back and she told me that she would not give me her name nor a receipt, and if I called again, she would call the police. I called again. She called the police. The officer made her send me a receipt for my refund. Overall, a distasteful and unnecessary experience after I had booked a $1000 package with them and was treated like a criminal simply for asking for what I had purchased or at least a refund. In the midst, she insinuated discrimination and unsanitary conditions of the facility. read more

We stayed here for 1 night before moving on to their Beachcomber cottages on Vilano Beach! Both places are spectacular. The breakfast was awesome, happy hour as well. We stayed in the Lindsey Michelle Room at the B&B and you must check out the cottages they own. We stayed in the Royal Palm suite with panoramic views, fantastic. Staff is also extremely nice. We stayed two nights at the Bayfront Marin and had a lovely time. It was a busy weekend so the first night we were in the Forrester Suite and the second night we were in the King George. They moved all our luggage while we explored the town. I can't tell you which one I liked more - both were lovely. Each night they had a nice cocktail hour with yummy snacks and even better sangria. Breakfast was great, too - banana pancakes were our favorite.The staff was pleasant and accommodating. By far my favorite part was just sitting on one of the many comfortable couches, chairs or swings and watching the world go by. The location is great and the breeze off the bay was perfect. Parking is a little bit of a walk but once you park, you don't need the car again. read more

This was probably the best B&B I've stayed in. Everyone was very friendly. The room was pretty, clean, and the bed was great. You have an awesome view of the bay and you can walk everywhere. They also have bikes to use for free to get places you don't want to walk (like the distillery) . The breakfast is good. And they will even make it fresh for you when you didn't show up on time because you pub crawled too much the night before. They have happy hour from 5-7 with great little homemade snacks and beer & wine. We didn't want to leave. read more

This place & the staff is AMAZING!! My husband & I got married last May on Vilano Beach. We stayed in the Burgess Cottage, the night before & the night of the wedding. We were greeted with open arms & smiling faces. The staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable & memorable. Our room was very clean & cozy. There wasn't a mini-fridge, but one was delivered by the time we got back from dinner upon request. Brian made sangria for cocktail hour, which was delicious! He even made ours for the next morning to sip on while us girls got ready for the wedding :) The food was great...environment was awesome. I loved having breakfast out by the gazebo...gorgeous view! It's location is perfect too...within walking distance from a ton of things. The staff really made us feel right at home. The owner even made his rounds, checking on everyone & making sure they were enjoying their stay. We love the city of St. Augustine, which is why we married there...& we hope to make a weekend at the Bayfront Marin part of an anniversary tradition. read more

My wife and I drove up from Lakewood Ranch (Sarasota Area). We love St. Augustine for the culture and fine dining. The Marin House is a fantastic place to stay when enjoying the city. The owners and rest of the staff are fantastic. If there is anything you need they take care of it right away. The rooms are nice and clean and you have a great choice in terms of size and price. We stayed in #2 which had a nice balcony that is private. The room was quite large and had nice places to store our clothes for the few nights we were there. We stayed one night in another room and there was no place to really put our clothes; not a big deal for those who pack light... not the case for us when it is quite warm during the day and very cool at night. The breakfast is awesome. The main entrée is portioned just right and delicious. If you want more of something else you can easily order it the night before when you take your ticket down. The Happy Hour is so nice! We met several nice couples there. The parking is off site,, but safe and convenient in a parking lot behind the Oldest House. Thank you for a fantastic time! Any of the old reviews with only 2 stars should not be considered. I stayed at the Marin House by chance this past May on my home to New York. I had heard St. Augustine was a wonderful place to experience and I had done so much driving that I wanted to stay at least 2 days. I had a small dog, and the prior night I had stayed in a place that had me so discouraged. By chance, The Marin House popped up on my computer as "dog friendly," that following morning. When I called, I was greeted to and reassured that I would be taken care of. They told me to pull my car up in front of the House, they helped me with my bags, drove my car to the parking area, and actually one of the owners took my dog for a quick walk, so I could settle in. They also saved some breakfast for me that morning even though I wasn't a guest the previous night and entitled to it. Considering I had done a lot of traveling, I was so impressed with how clean the room was that if I could, I would move in. The following morning, everyone had a nice breakfast, and the staff and everyone staying there made it feel like a home. I am looking forward to going back just to enjoy the ambiance and all the people who work there!! read more

We selected the Bayfront Marin House based on the location & their marketing stating they provide gluten free breakfasts. I also check a number of gluten free specific reviews. The location is great - overlooking the bay & walkable to Historic Downtown St Augustine with great restaurants & shops. Although their marketing references accommodating gluten free guests, their staff - though very nice - is not trained to handle anything beyond being gluten friendly. The breakfast was basically unworkable for celiac individuals. I was offered eggs (which were cooked to the point of being rubbery) , yogurt (the staff was unsure of its gluten status) & fruit (which I ultimately avoided due to liekly cross contamination). 1 morning the staff very nicely put the overcooked egg on a plate with gf toast (which had been run through the general use toaster) & sausage. This was the point that the admitted they we unaware of cross contamination. Also, no gf offerings were available any day for the happy hour or evening snack. So take the gluten free marketing with a grain of salt or gluten as it were. My spouse thought the regular breakfast options were run of the mill for the type of B&B it is. Oh man this place was great! The staff were super friendly. The view was wonderful and all of the extra amenities like breakfast and happy hour were perfect and really good homemade sangria which hit the spot after driving all day. I actually liked that the offsite parking was a very short 4 minute walk from the hotel. I was on vacation and wanted to be free of keys and cell phones. Besides there are a ton of shops and restaurants within walking distance. St. Augustine is wonderful on foot because you notice the little timeless bits and pieces that cars don't let you see. Anyway, the customer service was perfect, our room was perfect and charming, the patio furniture and gazebo were perfect and wonderful for socializing which I noticed almost everyone did. We stayed on the second floor which I would recommend because of the view. Now we have our little getaway place in St. Augustine because we will come back and will always stay there. read more

This is the first bed and breakfast I've ever stayed where I can say I actually loved it! It is so unbelievably charming inside the rooms and on the grounds. Rooms are well appointed with everything you could need. Beautifully decorated, obviously new "old style" bedding and bathroom fixtures with room to move around. And everything works! Immaculately clean. Tiny white lights outline the buildings, porches and trees add to the romantic, surreal ambiance. Charming outdoor seating amid colorful plants and flowers. Helpful, accommodating and efficient staff. Delicious breakfast and Happy Hour wine and hors d'oevres included in the room price and not to be missed. They even allow the patrons to enjoy these in their rooms if you want some quiet time or if you're hungry but don't feel like getting dressed yet. Great location to walk to the sites and restaurants. On the negative side, parking is at a distance. There's a drop-off area in front of the inn to discharge passengers and luggage, but only two spaces are allocated for this purpose. A free parking lot is a few blocks away. I suppose this can't be helped since this is how the city is set up. It's important to know this but Bayfront Marin House doesn't volunteer this information, so the patrons find this out from reading reviews or in frustration at the time of check-in. Once that obstacle is overcome, the rest is easy. read more
